¹² And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

¹³ And he left them, and again entering into the boat departed to the other side.

¹⁴ And they forgot to take bread; and they had not in the boat with them more than one loaf.

¹⁵ And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.

¹⁶ And they reasoned one with another, saying, We have no bread.

¹⁷ And Jesus perceiving it saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? do ye not yet perceive, neither understand? have ye your heart hardened?

¹⁸ Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹⁹ When I brake the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

²⁰ And when the seven among the four thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces took ye up? And they say unto him, Seven.

²¹ And he said unto them, Do ye not yet understand?

²² And they come unto Bethsaida. And they bring to him a blind man, and beseech him to touch him.

²³ And he took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village; and when he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands upon him, he asked him, Seest thou aught?

²⁴ And he looked up, and said, I see men; for I behold them as trees, walking.

²⁵ Then again he laid his hands upon his eyes; and he looked stedfastly, and was restored, and saw all things clearly.

²⁶ And he sent him away to his home, saying, Do not even enter into the village.

²⁷ And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, into the villages of Cæsarea Philippi: and on the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

²⁸ And they told him, saying, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but others, One of the prophets.

²⁹ And he asked them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

³⁰ And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

³¹ And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³² And he spake the saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

³³ But he turning about, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and saith, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.

¹⁸ Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

²³ And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

²⁴ And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

²⁵ After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

²⁶ And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

²⁷ And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

²⁸ And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

²⁹ And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

³⁰ And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

¹² Jesus sighed quietly to himself, and then he said, “I am disgusted that RHQ, even though you people have seen how I have healed people, you keep asking me to perform miracles! Note this: Such a miracle will certainly not be shown {I will certainly not show such a miracle} just for you people!”

¹³ Then he left them. He got into the boat again, along with his disciples, and they went further around Lake Galilee.

¹⁴ The disciples had forgotten to bring along enough food. Specifically, they had only one flat loaf of bread with them in the boat.

¹⁵ As they were going, Jesus warned them against the attitudes the Pharisees and Herod Antipas had, attitudes that were having a bad effect on other people. He did this by telling them a parable. He said, “Be careful! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!”

¹⁶ The disciples misunderstood him. So they said to one another, “ He must have said that because we have no bread.”

¹⁷ Jesus knew what they were discussing among themselves. So he said to them, “◄ I am disappointed that you are discussing about your not having enough bread!/Why are you discussing about your not having enough bread?► RHQ ◄You should understand by now that I can provide miraculously for you if you need food!/Why do you not yet perceive or understand that I can provide miraculously for you if you need food?► RHQ ◄You are not thinking!/Why are you not thinking?► RHQ

¹⁸ ◄I am also disappointed that, although you have eyes, you do not understand what you see!/Why is it that, although you have eyes, you do not understand what you see?► RHQ You have ears, but you do not understand what I say RHQ!” Then he asked, “Do you not remember what happened

¹⁹ when I broke only five loaves and fed the five thousand people RHQ? Not only was everyone satisfied, but there was food left over How many baskets full of pieces of bread that were left over did you collect?” They replied, “We collected twelve baskets full.”

²⁰ Then he asked, “When I broke the seven loaves in order to feed the four thousand people, again when everyone had plenty to eat, how many large baskets of pieces of bread that were left over did you collect?” They replied, “ We collected seven large baskets full.”

²¹ Then he kept saying to them, “◄ I am disappointed that you do not understand yet that you should never worry that you do not have enough food!/Why do you not understand yet that you should never worry that you do not have enough food?►” RHQ

²² They arrived in the boat at Bethsaida town. People brought to Jesus a blind man and earnestly requested that Jesus touch him in order to heal him.

²³ Jesus took the hand of the blind man, led him outside the town, he put his saliva on the man's eyes, he put his hands on the man, and then he asked him, “Do you see anything?”

²⁴ The man looked up and then he said, “ Yes, I see people! They are walking around, but I cannot see them clearly. They look like trees!”

²⁵ Then Jesus again touched the eyes of the blind man. The man looked intently and at that moment he was completely healed! He could see everything clearly.

²⁶ Jesus said to him, “Do not go into the town! First go straight home and tell the people there about what I did!” Then he sent the man to his home.

²⁷ Jesus and the disciples left Bethsaida town and went to the villages near Caesarea Philippi town. On the way he questioned them, “Who do people say that I really am?”

²⁸ They replied, “ Some people say that you are John the Baptizer, who has come back to life again. Others say that you are the prophet Elijah who has returned from heaven as God promised. And others say that you are one of the other former prophets who has come back to life again.”

²⁹ He asked them, “What about you? Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied to him, “ We believe that you are the Messiah!”

³⁰ Then Jesus warned them strongly that they should not tell anyone yet that he was the Messiah.

³¹ Then Jesus began to teach them, “ Even though I am the one who came from heaven, it is necessary that I suffer very much. It is also necessary that I be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the men who teach the Jewish laws {that the elders, the chief priests, and the men who teach the Jewish laws reject me}, and that I be killed {they kill me}. But on the third day after I am killed I will become alive again.”

³² He said this to them clearly. But Peter took Jesus aside and then, because he assumed that the Messiah would never die, he started to rebuke Jesus for talking about dying.

³³ Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples. Then he rebuked Peter, saying, “Stop thinking like that! Satan is causing you to talk like that! Instead of wanting what God wants me to do, you are wanting me to do only what most people would want me to do.”

¹² He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Most certainly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”

¹³ He left them, and again entering into the boat, departed to the other side.

¹⁵ He warned them, saying, “Take heed: beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”

¹⁵ And he said to them, Take care to be on the watch against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.

¹⁶ And they said to one another, We have no bread.

¹⁷ And Jesus, hearing it, said to them, Why are you reasoning among yourselves because you have no bread? do you still not see, and is it still not clear to you? are your hearts so hard?

¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? and having ears, have you no hearing? and have you no memory?

¹⁹ When I made a division of the five cakes of bread among the five thousand, what number of baskets full of broken bits did you take up? They said to him, Twelve.

²⁰ And when the seven among the four thousand, what number of baskets full of broken bits did you take up? And they said to him, Seven.

²¹ And he said to them, Is it still not clear to you?

²² And they came to Beth-saida. And they took a blind man to him, requesting him to put his hands on him.

²³ And he took the blind man by the hand, and went with him out of the town; and when he had put water from his mouth on his eyes, and put his hands on him, he said, Do you see anything?

²⁴ And looking up, he said, I see men; I see them like trees, walking.

²⁵ Then again he put his hands on his eyes; and looking hard, he was able to see, and saw all things clearly.

²⁶ And he sent him away to his house, saying, Do not even go into the town.

²⁷ And Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the little towns round Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he put a question to his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I am?

²⁸ And they made answer, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but others, One of the prophets.

²⁹ And he said to them, But who do you say I am? Peter said in answer, You are the Christ.

³⁰ And he put them under orders not to say this of him to anyone.

³¹ And teaching them, he said that the Son of man would have to undergo much, and be hated by those in authority, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be put to death, and after three days come back from the dead.

³² And he said this openly. And Peter took him, and was protesting.

³³ But he, turning about, and seeing his disciples, said sharply to Peter, Get out of my way, Satan: for your mind is not on the things of God, but on the things of men.

¹² And groaning in his spirit, he says, Why does this generation seek a sign? Verily I say unto you, A sign shall in no wise be given to this generation.

¹³ And he left them, and going again on board ship, went away to the other side.

¹⁷ Which Jesus knowing, saith to them: Why do you reason, because you have no bread? do you not yet know nor understand? have you still your heart blinded?

¹⁸ Having eyes, see you not? and having ears, hear you not? neither do you remember.

¹⁹ When I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took you up? They say to him, Twelve.

²⁰ When also the seven loaves among four thousand, how many baskets of fragments took you up? And they say to him, Seven.

²¹ And he said to them: How do you not yet understand?

²² And they came to Bethsaida; and they bring to him a blind man, and they besought him that he would touch him.

²³ And taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town; and spitting upon his eyes, laying his hands on him, he asked him if he saw any thing.

²⁴ And looking up, he said: I see men as it were trees, walking.

²⁵ After that again he laid his hands upon his eyes, and he began to see, and was restored, so that he saw all things clearly.

²⁶ And he sent him into his house, saying: Go into thy house, and if thou enter into the town, tell nobody.

²⁷ And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi. And in the way, he asked his disciples, saying to them: Whom do men say that I am?

²⁸ Who answered him, saying: John the Baptist; but some Elias, and others as one of the prophets.

²⁹ Then he saith to them: But whom do you say that I am? Peter answering said to him: Thou art the Christ.

³⁰ And he strictly charged them that they should not tell any man of him.

³¹ And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the ancients and by the high priests, and the scribes, and be killed: and after three days rise again.

³² And he spoke the word openly. And Peter taking him, began to rebuke him.

³³ Who turning about and seeing his disciples, threatened Peter, saying: Go behind me, Satan, because thou savorest not the things that are of God, but that are of men.

¹² And sighing deeply in His spirit, He said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.”

¹³ And having dismissed them, and stepping into the boat again, He went away to the other side.

¹⁴ And they forgot to take bread, and except for one loaf, they did not have any with themselves in the boat.

¹⁵ Then He charged them, saying, “Look out, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

¹⁶ And they were reasoning among themselves, saying, “Because we have no bread.”

¹⁷ But Jesus, knowing about it, said to them, “Why are you reasoning because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Is your heart still hardened?

²⁴ And when he looked up he said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

²⁵ Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him to look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly again.

²⁶ Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the village, nor tell anyone in the village.”

²⁷ Now Jesus and His disciples went out to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road He was questioning His disciples, saying to them, “Who do men pronounce Me to be?”

²⁸ So they answered, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; but others, one of the prophets.”

²⁹ He said to them, “But who do you pronounce Me to be?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”

³⁰ Then He warned them that they should tell no one about Him.

³¹ And He began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise.

³² He was speaking this word with boldness. And Peter, taking Him aside, began to rebuke Him.

³³ But when He had turned and saw His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

¹² But He sighed deeply in His spirit and said: “Why does this generation seek a sign? I tell you emphatically, no sign shall be given to this generation!”

¹³ Turning His back on them, He got back into the boat and went off to the other side.

¹⁴ (His disciples had forgotten to take bread; they did not have more than one loaf with them in the boat.)

¹⁵ And He charged them, saying, “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

¹⁶ So they started reasoning among themselves, saying, “It's because we have no bread.”

¹⁷ Being aware of it Jesus said to them: “Why are you reasoning because you have no bread? Do you still neither perceive nor understand? Do you still have hearts that have been hardened?

²⁷ Then Jesus and His disciples set out for the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, “Who are people saying that I am?”

²⁹ He said to them, “And who do you say that I am?” So Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ!”

³⁰ Then He charged them that they should tell no one about Him.

³¹ He then began to teach them that the Son of the Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³² He said these things quite plainly. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.

³³ But He turned, looked at His disciples, and rebuked Peter, saying: “Get behind me, Satan! You have in mind men's values, not God's values.”

¹² Jesus sighed deeply, and asked, “Why do you people want a sign? I tell you the truth: I will not give you a sign.”

¹³ So he left them behind, climbed into the boat, and went back across the lake.

¹⁴ But the disciples had forgotten to bring bread with them. All they had in the boat was one loaf.

¹⁵ “Watch out—beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod!” he warned them.

¹⁶ “He's saying that because we don't have any bread,” they concluded.

¹⁷ Jesus knew what they were saying, and said, “Why are you talking about not having any bread? Are you still not thinking and not understanding? Have you closed your minds?

¹⁸ You've got eyes to see, haven't you? And ears to hear?

¹⁹ Don't you remember when I shared five loaves among five thousand? How many basketfuls of leftovers did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied.

²⁰ “And the seven loaves divided among four thousand. How many basketfuls of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they answered.

²¹ “Do you still not understand?” he asked them.

²² They went to Bethsaida where some people brought a blind man to Jesus. They begged Jesus to touch him and heal him.

²³ Jesus took the blind man by the hand and took him outside the village. Jesus spat on the man's eyes and touched him with his hands. Then Jesus asked him, “Can you see anything?”

²⁴ The man looked around, and said, “I can see people, but they look like trees walking.”

²⁵ So Jesus touched the man's eyes again. He could see properly—he was cured and his sight was clear.

²⁶ Jesus sent the man home, and told him, “Don't go back through the village.”

²⁷ Jesus and his disciples left to go to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say I am?”

²⁸ “Some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, others say one of the prophets,” they replied.

²⁹ “But who do you say I am?” he asked them. “You are the Messiah!” Peter answered.

³⁰ Jesus warned them not to tell anybody about him.

³¹ Then Jesus began to explain to them that the Son of man would suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and religious teachers. He would be killed, but three days later would rise again.

³² Jesus explained this to them very clearly. But Peter took Jesus aside and started to reprimand him for what he said.

³³ Jesus turned around and looking at his disciples, reprimanded Peter. “Get away from me, Satan,” he said. “You're not thinking as God thinks, but as human beings do.”

¹² Then hee sighed deepely in his spirit, and saide, Why doeth this generation seeke a signe? Verely I say vnto you, a signe shall not be giuen vnto this generation.

¹³ So he left them, and went into the ship againe, and departed to the other side.

¹⁴ And they had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the shippe with them, but one loafe.

¹⁵ And he charged them, saying, Take heede, and beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the leauen of Herod.

¹⁶ And they reasoned among themselues, saying, It is, because we haue no bread.

¹⁷ And when Iesus knew it, he said vnto them, Why reason you thus, because ye haue no bread? perceiue ye not yet, neither vnderstande? haue ye your hearts yet hardened?

¹⁸ Haue yee eyes, and see not? and haue yee eares, and heare not? and doe ye not remember?

²⁴ And he looked vp, and said, I see men: for I see them walking like trees.

²⁵ After that, he put his hands againe vpon his eyes, and made him looke againe. And hee was restored to his sight, and sawe euery man a farre off clearely.

²⁶ And hee sent him home to his house, saying, Neither goe into the towne, nor tell it to any in the towne.

²⁷ And Iesus went out, and his disciples into the townes of Cesarea Philippi. And by the way hee asked his disciples, saying vnto them, Whome doe men say that I am?

³⁰ And he sharpely charged them, that concerning him they should tell no man.

³¹ Then hee began to teache them that the Sonne of man must suffer many things, and should be reproued of the Elders, and of the hie Priestes, and of the Scribes, and be slaine, and within three dayes rise againe.

³² And he spake that thing boldly. Then Peter tooke him aside, and began to rebuke him.

³³ Then he turned backe, and looked on his disciples, and rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behinde me, Satan: for thou vnderstandest not the things that are of God, but the things that are of men.

²³ Jesus took the blind man by the hand to outside the town. He spat on his own hand, he touched the spit, he put it on the man's eyes, he asked him, “Do you see?”

²⁴ The man looked around a bit, he said to him, “I see people blurrily. I think they look like trees. My eyes deceive me. They are not trees. They have been walking around.”

²⁵ Again Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. The man was looking carefully, he saw well.

²⁶ Jesus sent him to his camp. He told him, “Do not go to that town, do not tell them I did this for you.”

¹⁷ and, noticing this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you talking about your being short of bread? Don't you yet see or understand? Are your minds still so slow or comprehension?

²⁵ Then again he laid his hands on his eyes. He looked intently, and was restored, and saw everyone clearly.

²⁶ He sent him away to his house, saying, “Don’t enter into the village, nor tell anyone in the village.”

²⁸ They told him, “John Yah is gracious the Immerser, and others say Elijah My God Yah, but others: one of the prophets.”

²⁹ He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter Rock answered, “You are the Messiah Anointed one.”

³⁰ He commanded them that they should tell no one about him.

³¹ He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the Torah-Teachers, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³² He spoke to them openly. Peter Rock took him, and began to rebuke him.

³³ But he, turning around, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter Rock, and said, “Get behind me, Satan Adversary! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men.”

¹² Jesus was a little bit upset. He breathed deeply and said, “You mob that are alive today always want to see something powerful before you will believe that God sent me. Listen, I’m telling you straight, I will not do anything powerful for you mob here now.”

¹³ Then Jesus and his followers walked away from those Pharisees and got into a boat and went across to the other side of the lake.

¹⁴ But Jesus’s followers didn’t buy any food at Dalmanutha. They forgot to do it. Then, in the boat half way across the lake, they remembered about it. They looked into their food bag and saw that they only had one loaf of bread.

¹⁵ Jesus talked to his followers. He said, “You know that we put that yeast into flour to make it rise up, to make it into bread. Well, I’m telling you this, stay away from the yeast that comes from those Pharisee law men, and stay away from the yeast that comes from the big boss called King Herod.”

¹⁶ The men didn’t understand what Jesus meant, and they started to talk to each other about it. They said, “We didn’t get enough bread for the trip, so now he’s growling at us.”

¹⁷ Jesus knew what they said to each other, and he said, “Why are you mob arguing about bread? You still haven’t learned about me. You don’t understand me. Maybe your minds are closed.

¹⁸ You’ve got eyes but you don’t look. You’ve got ears but you don’t listen. You don’t remember anything, do you?

¹⁹ Do you remember the time we had 5 loaves of bread and I gave food to 5,000 men? How many baskets of left over bits did you pick up?” The men said, “12 baskets full.”

²⁰ Then Jesus said, “Do you remember the time we had 7 loaves of bread and I gave food to 4,000 people? How many baskets of left over bits did you pick up?” The men said, “7 baskets full.”

²¹ Jesus asked them, “So how come you still don’t understand about me?”

²² Jesus and his followers came to a place called Bethsaida on the west side of Lake Galilee, and they got out of the boat. Some people brought a blind man up to him and asked Jesus to touch him and make him better.

²³ Jesus held the man’s hand and led him outside the community. Then Jesus spat on the man’s eyes and then put his hands on him and said, “Can you see anything now?”

²⁴ The man looked around and said, “Yes, I can see a little bit. I can see people, but they look like trees walking around.”

²⁵ So Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes again. Then the man carefully looked around again, and his eyes were properly better, and he saw everything clearly.

²⁶ Jesus told the man to go straight home. He said, “As you walk home, don’t go into that community. Don’t let anyone see that I made you better.”

²⁷ Then Jesus and his followers left Galilee country and went north to some communities in the country called Caesarea Philippi. As they walked along the track, Jesus asked his followers, “When people talk about me, who do they reckon I really am?”

²⁸ They answered, “Some people reckon you are John the Baptiser come alive again. And other people reckon you are Elijah, that man that lived a long time ago. And other people reckon you are one of those other men that told God’s messages a long time ago.”

²⁹ So Jesus said, “Who do you reckon I really am?” Peter said straight out, “You are the man that God sent to save people. We have to call you Christ.”

³⁰ Jesus told them strongly, “Don’t tell that to anyone yet.”

³¹ Then Jesus told his followers about the bad things that will happen to him. He said, “The elders, the ceremony leaders and the law teachers will reckon I’m no good, even though I’m God’s special man from heaven. That mob will hurt me badly in lots of ways, and they will kill me. I will be dead for 3 days, then I will get up alive again.”

³² Jesus talked straight to them, but Peter couldn’t believe it. He took Jesus away from the others and growled at him for talking that way.

³³ Jesus looked at the other followers there, then he said strongly to Peter, “Go away from me. You are like Satan. You are not thinking God’s way. You are just thinking like a man.”

¹² And he sygthed in his sprete and sayde: why doth this generacion seke a signe? Verely I saye vnto you ther shall no signe be geven vnto this generacion.

¹³ And he lefte the and went into the ship agayne and departed over the water.

¹⁴ And they had forgotten to take breed with the nether had they in the ship with them more then one loofe.

¹⁵ And he charged the sayinge. Take hede and beware of the leven of the pharises and of the leve of Herode.

¹⁶ And they reasoned amonge the selves sayinge: we have no breed

¹⁷ And when Iesus knewe that he sayde vnto the: why take ye thought because ye have no bread perceave ye not yet nether vnderstonde? Have ye youre hertes yet blynded?

¹⁸ Have ye eyes and se not? and have ye eares and heare not? Do ye not remember?

²² And he came to Bethsaida and they brought a blynde man vnto him and desyred him to touche him.

²³ And he caught the blynde by the honde and leade him out of the toune and spat in his eyes and put his hondes apon him and axed him whether he saw ought.

²⁴ And he loked vp and sayde: I se the men: For I se the walke as they were trees.

²⁵ After that he put his hondes agayne apon his eyes and made him see. And he was restored to his sight and sawe every man clerly.

²⁶ And he sent him home to his housse sayinge: nether goo into the toune nor tell it to eny in the toune.

²⁷ And Iesus went out and his disciples into the tounes that longe to the cite called Cesarea Philippi. And by the waye he axed his disciples sayinge: whom do men saye that I am?

²⁸ And they answered: some saye that thou arte Iohn Baptiste: some saye Helyas: and some one of the Prophetes.

²⁹ And he sayde vnto them: But whom saye ye that I am? Peter answered and sayd vnto him: Thou arte very Christe.

³⁰ And he charged them that they shuld tell no man of it.

³¹ And he beganne to teache them how that the sonne of man must suffre many thinges and shuld be reproved of the elders and of the hye prestes and scribes and be kylled and after thre dayes aryse agayne.

³² And he spake that sayinge openly. And Peter toke him asyde and began to chyde him.

³³ Then he tourned aboute and looked on his disciples and rebuked Peter sayinge: Goo after me Satan. For thou saverest not the thinges of God but the thinges of men.

¹² He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek for a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.”

¹³ Then he left them, got into a boat again, and went away to the other side.

¹⁵ He warned them and said, “Keep watch and be on guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”

¹⁶ The disciples reasoned with each other, “It is because we have no bread.”

¹⁷ Jesus was aware of this, and he said to them, “Why are you reasoning about not having bread? Do you not yet perceive? Do you not understand? Have your hearts become so dull?

¹⁸ You have eyes, do you not see? You have ears, do you not hear? Do you not remember?

²⁵ Then he again laid his hands upon his eyes, and the man opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw all things clearly.

²⁶ Jesus sent him away to his home and said, “Do not enter the town.”

²⁵ Afterward again he set his hands on his eyes, and he began to see, and he was restored, so that he saw clearly all things.

²⁶ And he sent him into his house, and said, Go into thine house; and if thou goest into the street, say to no man.

²⁷ And Jesus entered in and his disciples, into the castles of Caesarea of Philippi. And in the way, he asked his disciples, and said to them, Whom say men that I am?

And Peter took (hold of) him, and began to blame him or And Peter taking (hold of) him, began to blame him, and said, Lord, be thou merciful to thee, for this shall not be. (And he openly spoke these words. And Peter took hold of him, and began to rebuke him, and said, Lord, be thou merciful to thyself, do not let this be, or do not let this happen.)

³³ And he turned, and saw his disciples, and menaced Peter (or and threatened Peter), and said (to him), Go after me, thou Satan; for thou savourest not those things that be of God or for thou understandest not those things that be of God, (no) but those things that be of men.

¹² And he sorewynge `with ynne in spirit, seide, What sekith this generacioun a tokne? Treuli Y seie to you, a tokene schal not be youun to this generacioun.

¹⁷ And whanne this thing was knowun, Jhesus seide to hem, What thenken ye, for ye han not looues? Yit ye knowun not, ne vndurstonden; yit ye han youre herte blyndid.

¹⁸ Ye hauynge iyen, seen not, and ye hauynge eeris, heren not; nethir ye han mynde,

¹⁹ whanne Y brak fyue looues among fyue thousynde, and hou many cofynes ful of brokun meete `ye tokun vp? Thei seien to hym, Twelue.

²⁰ Whanne also seuene looues among foure thousynde of men, hou many lepis of brokun mete tokun ye vp?

²¹ And thei seien to hym, Seuene. And he seide to hem, Hou vndurstonden ye not yit?

²² And thei camen to Bethsaida, and thei bryngen to hym a blynde man, and thei preieden hym, that he schulde touche hym.

²³ And whanne he hadde take the blynde mannus hoond, he ledde hym out of the street, and spete in to hise iyen, and sette hise hoondis on hym; and he axide hym, if he saye ony thing.

²⁴ And he bihelde, and seide, Y se men as trees walkynge.

²⁵ Aftirward eftsoones he sette hise hondis on hise iyen, and he bigan to see, and he was restorid, so that he saiy cleerli alle thingis.

²⁶ And he sente hym in to his hous, and seide, Go in to thin hous; and if thou goist in to the streete, seie to no man.

²⁷ And Jhesus entride and hise disciplis in to the castels of Cesarye of Philip. And in the weie he axide hise disciplis, and seide to hem, Whom seien men that Y am?

²⁸ Whiche answeriden to hym, and seiden, Summen seien, Joon Baptist; other seien, Heli; and other seien, as oon of the prophetis.

²⁹ Thanne he seith to hem, But whom seien ye that Y am? Petre answeride, and seide to hym, Thou art Crist.

³⁰ And he chargide hem, that thei schulden not seie of hym to ony man.

³¹ And he bigan to teche hem, that it bihoueth mannus sone to suffre many thingis, and to be repreued of the elder men, and of the hiyest prestis, and the scribis, and to be slayn, and aftir thre dayes, to rise ayen.

³² And he spak pleynli the word. And Peter took hym, and bigan to blame hym, and seide, Lord, be thou merciful to thee, for this schal not be.

³³ And he turnede, and saiy hise disciplis, and manasside Petir, and seide, Go after me, Satanas; for thou sauerist not tho thingis that ben of God, but tho thingis that ben of men.

¹² and having sighed deeply in his spirit, he saith, 'Why doth this generation seek after a sign? Verily I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.'

¹³ And having left them, having entered again into the boat, he went away to the other side;

¹⁴ and they forgot to take loaves, and except one loaf they had nothing with them in the boat,

¹⁵ and he was charging them, saying, 'Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod,'

¹⁶ and they were reasoning with one another, saying — 'Because we have no loaves.'

¹⁷ And Jesus having known, saith to them, 'Why do ye reason, because ye have no loaves? do ye not yet perceive, nor understand, yet have ye your heart hardened?

¹⁸ Having eyes, do ye not see? and having ears, do ye not hear? and do ye not remember?

¹⁹ When the five loaves I did brake to the five thousand, how many hand-baskets full of broken pieces took ye up?' they say to him, 'Twelve.'

²⁰ 'And when the seven to the four thousand, how many hand-baskets full of broken pieces took ye up?' and they said, 'Seven.'

²¹ And he said to them, 'How do ye not understand?'

²² And he cometh to Bethsaida, and they bring to him one blind, and call upon him that he may touch him,

²³ and having taken the hand of the blind man, he led him forth without the village, and having spit on his eyes, having put his hands on him, he was questioning him if he doth behold anything:

²⁴ and he, having looked up, said, 'I behold men, as I see trees, walking.'

²⁵ Afterwards again he put his hands on his eyes, and made him look up, and he was restored, and discerned all things clearly,

²⁶ and he sent him away to his house, saying, 'Neither to the village mayest thou go, nor tell it to any in the village.'

²⁷ And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi, and in the way he was questioning his disciples, saying to them, 'Who do men say me to be?'

²⁸ And they answered, 'John the Baptist, and others Elijah, but others one of the prophets.'

²⁹ And he saith to them, 'And ye — who do ye say me to be?' and Peter answering saith to him, 'Thou art the Christ.'

³⁰ And he strictly charged them that they may tell no one about it,

³¹ and began to teach them, that it behoveth the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise again;

³² and openly he was speaking the word. And Peter having taken him aside, began to rebuke him,

³³ and he, having turned, and having looked on his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, 'Get behind me, Adversary, because thou dost not mind the things of God, but the things of men.'
