⁹ And his disciples asked him what this parable might be.

¹⁰ And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to the rest in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

¹¹ Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

¹² And those by the way side are they that have heard; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.

¹³ And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

¹⁴ And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

¹⁵ And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

¹⁶ And no man, when he hath lighted a lamp, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but putteth it on a stand, that they that enter in may see the light.

¹⁷ For nothing is hid, that shall not be made manifest; nor anything secret, that shall not be known and come to light.

¹⁸ Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he thinketh he hath.

¹⁹ And there came to him his mother and brethren, and they could not come at him for the crowd.

²⁰ And it was told him, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

²¹ But he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these that hear the word of God, and do it.

²² Now it came to pass on one of those days, that he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples; and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake: and they launched forth.

²³ But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy.

²⁴ And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. And he awoke, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

²⁵ And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And being afraid they marvelled, saying one to another, Who then is this, that he commandeth even the winds and the water, and they obey him?

²⁶ And they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is over against Galilee.

²⁷ And when he was come forth upon the land, there met him a certain man out of the city, who had demons; and for a long time he had worn no clothes, and abode not in any house, but in the tombs.

²⁸ And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee, torment me not.

²⁹ For he was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the demon into the deserts.

³⁰ And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he said, Legion; for many demons were entered into him.

³¹ And they entreated him that he would not command them to depart into the abyss.

³² Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they entreated him that he would give them leave to enter into them. And he gave them leave.

⁹ And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

¹⁰ And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

¹⁷ For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

¹⁸ Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

¹⁹ Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

²⁹ (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

³⁰ And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

³¹ And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

⁹ Jesus' disciples later asked him about the meaning of the parable he had just told.

¹⁰ He said, “God is revealing to you what he did not reveal before, about how he wants to rule MET over people's lives. But when I am telling other people about these things, I tell them only in parables. The result will be like a prophet predicted long ago: They will see what I am doing, but will not perceive what it means. They will hear what I am saying, but will not understand it.

¹¹ So this is the meaning of that parable: The seeds represent God's message.

¹² Some people are like the path on which some of the seeds fell. When these people hear God's message, the devil comes and causes them to forget what they have heard. As a result, they do not believe it, and will not be saved { God will not save them}.

¹³ Some people are like the soil with rock underneath. When they hear God's message, they accept it joyfully. But because it does not penetrate deeply MET into their inner beings, they believe it for only a short time. They are like the plants that did not have deep roots. When difficult things happen to them, they stop believing God's message.

¹⁴ Some people are like the soil that had roots of thorny weeds in it. They are people who accept God's message, but later on they worry about things, and try to become rich, and enjoy things that give them a lot of pleasure. So they do not become spiritually mature.

¹⁵ But some people are like the good soil. They hear God's message and accept it. They become good, honest people, and they continue doing things that please God MET.”

¹⁶ “After people light a lamp, they do not cover it with a basket or put it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a lampstand, so that those who enter their house can see things from its light MET. Similarly, you must tell God's truth to others so that they can know what I can do for them.

¹⁷ God wants to make clear all of his truth that was not evident previously. He intends that all of the truth that he had not revealed before be told openly {that his people openly tell others all of the truth that he has not revealed before}.

¹⁸ So listen carefully to what I tell you, because God will enable those who accept my truth to understand even more. But God will cause those who do not accept my truth to not understand even the little that they think they have understood.”

¹⁹ One day Jesus' mother and his younger brothers came to see him, but they could not get near him because there was a large crowd around him in the house.

²⁰ Someone told him, “Your mother and your younger brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”

²¹ He replied, “Those who hear God's message and obey it are as dear to me MET as my mother and my brothers.”

²² One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples. He said to them, “Let's go around to the other side of the lake.” So they started to go.

²³ As they were sailing, he fell asleep. A big windstorm struck the lake. Soon the boat was filling with water, and they were in danger.

²⁴ Jesus' disciples woke him up. They said to him, “Master! Master! We (inc) are going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and told the waves to be calm. The wind immediately stopped blowing and the waves calmed down. The lake became calm.

²⁵ He said to them, “◄I am disappointed that you did not trust me to help you!/Why did you not trust me to help you?►” RHQ They were afraid. They were also amazed. They said to each other, “◄What kind of man is this?/This man is not like ordinary men!► RHQ He not only commands people, but when he commands the wind and the water, they also obey him!”

²⁶ Jesus and his disciples arrived at the region near Gerasa, a town which was on the eastern side of Lake Galilee.

²⁷ There was a man in that region in whom demons lived. He was from the town of Gerasa. (OR, In that area there was a man from that town whom demons controlled.) For a long time he had not worn clothes. He did not live in a house. Instead, he lived in burial caves.

²⁸ Many times demons attacked him. He was guarded { People tried to guard him} so that he would not injure others. Chains were fastened {They fastened chains} on his hands and shackles on his feet, but he would break the chains and shackles. Then he would be sent away by the demons {the demons would send him away} to some desolate area. When Jesus stepped out of the boat onto the shore, the man saw him. He ran to Jesus and prostrated himself before him. Then Jesus commanded, “You evil spirit, come out of that man!” But it did not leave immediately. Instead, it caused the man to shout very loudly, “Jesus, Son of the great God in heaven, since we (inc) have nothing in common, leave me alone RHQ! I beg you, do not torture me now!”

³⁰ In order to expel the demon more easily, Jesus asked the demon, “What is your (sg) name?” He replied, “My name is Crowd/Mob.” He said that because many demons had entered that man.

³¹ The demons kept begging Jesus that he would not command them to go into the deep place where God punishes demons.

³² There was a large herd of pigs ◄grazing/rooting for food► on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus that he allow them to enter the pigs. So he did.

⁹ Then his disciples asked him, “What does this parable mean?”

¹⁰ And he said, To you is given knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God; but to the others, they are given in stories, so that seeing, they may not see, and though they give hearing, the sense will not be clear to them.

¹¹ Now this is the point of the story: The seed is the word of God.

¹² Those by the side of the road are those who have given hearing; then the Evil One comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not have faith and get salvation.

¹³ And those on the rock are those who with joy give hearing to the word; but having no root, they have faith for a time, and when the test comes they give up.

¹⁴ And those which went among thorns are those who have given hearing, and go on their way, but they are overcome by cares and wealth and the pleasures of life, and they give no fruit.

¹⁵ And those in the good earth are those who, having given ear to the word, keep it with a good and true heart, and in quiet strength give fruit.

¹⁶ No man, when the light is lighted, puts a cover over it, or puts it under a bed, but he puts it on its table, so that those who come in may see the light.

¹⁷ For nothing is put out of view which will not be made clear, and nothing is secret of which the knowledge will not come to light.

¹⁸ So take care how you give hearing, for to him who has will be given, and from him who has not will be taken even what he seems to have.

¹⁹ And his mother and his brothers came to him, and they were not able to get near him because of the great number of people.

²⁰ And someone said to him, Your mother and your brothers are outside desiring to see you.

²¹ But he said to them in answer, My mother and my brothers are those who have knowledge of the word of God and do it.

²² Now it came about on one of those days that he got into a boat with his disciples; and he said to them, Let us go over to the other side of the water: and they put out the boat.

²³ But while they were sailing he went to sleep: and a storm of wind came down on the sea, and the boat became full of water and they were in danger.

²⁴ Then they came to him and, awaking him out of his sleep, said, Master, Master, destruction is near. And he, when he was awake, gave orders to the wind and the rolling waves, and the storm came to an end, and all was calm.

²⁵ And he said to them, Where is your faith? And fear and wonder overcame them, and they said to one another, Who then is this, who gives orders even to the winds and the water and they do what he says?

²⁶ And they came to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.

²⁷ And when he had come to the land, there came to him a certain man from the town who had evil spirits; and for a long time he had had no clothing on, and was not living in a house but in the place of the dead.

²⁸ And when he saw Jesus, he gave a loud cry and went down on the earth before him and in a loud voice said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Do not be cruel to me.

²⁹ For he gave an order to the evil spirit to come out of the man. For frequently it would take a grip of him: and he was kept under control, and prisoned with chains; but parting the chains in two, he would be sent by the driving of the evil spirit into waste places.

³⁰ And Jesus said to him, What is your name? And he said, Legion; for a number of spirits had gone into him.

³¹ And they made a request to him that he would not give them an order to go away into the deep.

³² Now there was a great herd of pigs in that place, getting food on the mountain: and the evil spirits made a request to him that he would let them go into the pigs, and he let them.

⁹ And his disciples asked him saying, What may this parable be?

¹⁰ And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, in order that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

¹¹ But the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

¹² But those by the wayside are those who hear; then comes the devil and takes away the word from their heart that they may not believe and be saved.

¹³ But those upon the rock, those who when they hear receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a time, and in time of trial fall away.

¹⁴ But that that fell where the thorns were, these are they who having heard go away and are choked under cares and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

¹⁵ But that in the good ground, these are they who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

²⁴ and coming to him they woke him up, saying, Master, master, we perish. But he, rising up, rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; and they ceased, and there was a calm.

²⁵ And he said to them, Where is your faith? And, being afraid, they were astonished, saying to one another, Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?

²⁷ And as he got out of the ship on the land, a certain man out of the city met him, who had demons a long time, and put on no clothes, and did not abide in a house, but in the tombs.

¹² The seeds that fall on the road are those who hear the message, but then the devil comes and steals away the truth from their minds so they won't trust in God and be saved.

¹³ The seeds that fall on the stony ground are those who hear and welcome the message with joy but don't have any roots. They trust for a while but when difficult times come they give up.

¹⁴ The seeds that fall among thorns are those who hear the message but it's choked out by life's distractions—worries, wealth, pleasure—so they don't produce anything.

¹⁵ The seeds sown on good earth are those who are honest and do what is right. They hear the message of truth, hold on to it, and through their perseverance produce a good harvest.

¹⁶ You don't light a lamp and then cover it with a bucket, or hide it under a bed. No, you put it on a stand, so that anyone who comes in can see the light.

¹⁷ For there's nothing hidden that won't be revealed; there's nothing secret that won't become known and obvious.

¹⁸ So pay attention how you ‘hear.’ To those who have received, more will be given; from those who don't receive, even what they think they have will be taken away!”

¹⁹ Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived, but they couldn't get through the crowd to see him.

²⁰ Jesus was told, “Your mother and your brothers are outside. They want to see you.”

²¹ “My mother and my brothers are those who hear God's word, and do what it says,” Jesus replied.

²² One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let's cross over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set off.

²³ As they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep, and a storm came down on the lake. The boat began filling with water and they were in danger of sinking.

²⁴ They went over to Jesus and woke him up. “Master, master, we're going to drown!” they said. Jesus woke up and commanded the wind and the rough waves to stop. They stopped, and all was calm.

²⁵ “Where is your trust?” he asked them. Terrified and amazed, they said to each other, “So who is this? He gives commands to the winds and the water, and they obey him!”

²⁶ They sailed across to the Gerasene region that lies opposite Galilee.

²⁷ When Jesus stepped out of the boat onto the shore, a demon-possessed man from the town came to meet him. For a long time he hadn't worn any clothes or lived in a house. He lived in the tombs.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus he screamed, fell down at Jesus' feet, and asked in a loud voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please don't torture me, I beg you!”

²⁹ For Jesus had already commanded the evil spirit to leave the man. It had often seized him, and despite being tied down with chains and shackles, and placed under guard, he would break the chains apart and would be driven by the demon into the desert areas.

³⁰ “What is your name?” Jesus asked him. “Legion,” he replied, for many demons had entered him.

¹⁰ And he sayd, Vnto you it is giuen to know the secrets of ye kingdome of God, but to other in parables, that when they see, they shoulde not see, and when they heare, they should not vnderstand.

²⁹ (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For often it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains, and in fetters: and he broke the bands, and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.)

³⁰ And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many demons had entered into him.

³¹ And they besought him, that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

³² And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

⁹ Then his disciples asked him, “What does this parable mean?”

¹⁰ He said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of God’s Kingdom, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’

¹¹ “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

¹² Those along the road are those who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.

¹³ Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation.

¹⁴ What fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life; and they bring no fruit to maturity.

¹⁵ Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.

¹⁶ “No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.

¹⁷ For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

¹⁸ Be careful therefore how you hear. For whoever has, to him will be given; and whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he thinks he has.”

¹⁹ His mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him for the crowd.

²⁰ Some people told him, “Your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to see you.”

²¹ But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”

²² Now on one of those days, he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples, and he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they launched out.

²³ But as they sailed, he fell asleep. A wind storm came down on the lake, and they were taking on dangerous amounts of water.

²⁴ They came to him and awoke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are dying!” He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; then they ceased, and it was calm.

²⁵ He said to them, “Where is your faith?” Being afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, “Who is this then, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?”

²⁶ Then they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.

²⁷ When Yeshua stepped ashore, a certain man out of the city who had demons for a long time met him. He wore no clothes, and didn’t live in a house, but in the tombs.

²⁸ When he saw Yeshua, he cried out and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, “What do I have to do with you, Yeshua, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torment me!”

¹⁵ But that that fell into good earth, be these that, in a good heart, and best, hear the word, and hold, and bring forth fruit in patience.

¹⁶ No man lighteth a lantern, and covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed, but on a candlestick, that men that enter see light.

¹⁷ For there is no privy thing, which shall not be opened; neither hid thing, which shall not be known, and come into open.

¹⁸ Therefore see ye, how ye hear; for it shall be given to him that hath, and whoever hath not, also that that he weeneth or he guesseth that he have, shall be taken away from him.

²⁵ And he said to them, Where is your faith? Which dreading wondered, and said together, Who, guessest thou, is this? for he commandeth to the winds and to the sea, and they obey to him.

²⁷ And when he went out to the land, a man ran to him, that had a devil now long time, and he was not clothed with cloth, neither dwelled in house, but in sepulchres.

²⁸ This, when he saw Jesus, fell down before him, and he crying with a great voice said, What to me and to thee, Jesus, the Son of the Highest God? I beseech thee, that thou torment me not.

³² And there was a flock of many swine or many hogs pasturing in an hill, and they prayed him, that he should suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

⁹ But his disciples asked him, what this parable was.

¹⁰ And he said to them, To you it is granted to know the private or the mystery of the kingdom of God (or To you it is granted to know the secret of the Kingdom of God); but to other men (I speak) in parables, (so) that they seeing see not, and they hearing understand not.

¹⁰ And he seide to hem, To you it is grauntid to knowe the pryuete of the kyngdom of God; but to othir men in parablis, that thei seynge se not, and thei herynge vndurstonde not.

¹¹ And this is the parable.

¹² The seed is Goddis word; and thei that ben bisidis the weie, ben these that heren; and aftirward the feend cometh, and takith awei the word fro her herte, lest thei bileuynge be maad saaf.

¹³ But thei that fel on a stoon, ben these that whanne thei han herd, resseyuen the word with ioye. And these han not rootis; for at a tyme thei bileuen, and in tyme of temptacioun thei goen awei.

¹⁴ But that that fel among thornes, ben these that herden, and of bisynessis, and ritchessis, and lustis of lijf thei gon forth, and ben stranglid, and bryngen forth no fruyt.

¹⁵ But that that fel in to good erthe, ben these that, in a good herte, and best heren the word, and holdun, and brengen forth fruyt in pacience.

¹⁶ No man lityneth a lanterne, and hilith it with a vessel, or puttith it vndur a bed, but on a candilstike, that men that entren seen liyt.

¹⁷ For ther is no priuei thing, which schal not be openyd, nether hid thing, which schal not be knowun, and come in to open.

¹⁸ Therfor se ye, hou ye heren; for it schal be youun to hym that hath, and who euer hath not, also that that he weneth that he haue, schal be takun awei fro hym.

¹⁹ And his modir and britheren camen to hym; and thei myyten not come to hym for the puple.

²⁰ And it was teeld to hym, Thi modir and thi britheren stonden with outforth, willynge to se thee.

²¹ And he answeride, and seide to hem, My modir and my britheren ben these, that heren the word of God, and doon it.

²² And it was don in oon of daies, he wente vp in to a boot, and hise disciplis. And he seide to hem, Passe we ouer the see. And thei wenten vp.

²³ And while thei rowiden, he slepte. And a tempest of wynde cam doun in to the watir, and thei weren dryuun hidur and thidur with wawis, and weren in perel.

²⁴ And thei camen nyy, and reisiden hym, and seiden, Comaundoure, we perischen. And he roos, and blamyde the wynde, and the tempest of the watir; and it ceesside, and pesibilte was maad.

²⁵ And he seide to hem, Where is youre feith? Which dredynge wondriden, and seiden togidir, Who, gessist thou, is this? for he comaundith to wyndis and to the see, and thei obeien to hym.

²⁶ And thei rowiden to the cuntree of Gerasenus, that is ayens Galilee.

²⁷ And whanne he wente out to the loond, a man ran to hym, that hadde a deuel long tyme, and he was not clothid with cloth, nether dwellide in hous, but in sepulcris.

²⁸ This, whanne he saiy Jhesu, fel doun bifor hym, and he criynge with a greet vois seide, What to me and to thee, Jhesu, the sone of the hiyest God? Y biseche thee, that thou turmente `not me.

²⁹ For he comaundide the vncleene spirit, that he schulde go out fro the man. For he took hym ofte tymes, and he was boundun with cheynes, and kept in stockis, and, whanne the boondis weren brokun, he was lad of deuelis in to desert.

³⁰ And Jhesus axide hym, and seide, What name is to thee? And he seide, A legioun ; for many deuelis weren entrid in to hym.

³¹ And thei preyden hym, that he schulde not comaunde hem, that thei schulden go in to helle.

³² And there was a flok of many swyne lesewynge in an hil, and thei preieden hym, that he schulde suffre hem to entre in to hem. And he suffride hem.

⁹ And his disciples were questioning him, saying, 'What may this simile be?'

¹⁰ And he said, 'To you it hath been given to know the secrets of the reign of God, and to the rest in similes; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

¹¹ 'And this is the simile: The seed is the word of God,

¹² and those beside the way are those hearing, then cometh the Devil, and taketh up the word from their heart, lest having believed, they may be saved.

¹³ 'And those upon the rock: They who, when they may hear, with joy do receive the word, and these have no root, who for a time believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

¹⁴ 'And that which fell to the thorns: These are they who have heard, and going forth, through anxieties, and riches, and pleasures of life, are choked, and bear not to completion.

¹⁵ 'And that in the good ground: These are they, who in an upright and good heart, having heard the word, do retain it, and bear fruit in continuance.

¹⁶ 'And no one having lighted a lamp doth cover it with a vessel, or under a couch doth put it; but upon a lamp-stand he doth put it, that those coming in may see the light,

¹⁷ for nothing is secret, that shall not become manifest, nor hid, that shall not be known, and become manifest.

¹⁸ 'See, therefore, how ye hear, for whoever may have, there shall be given to him, and whoever may not have, also what he seemeth to have, shall be taken from him.'

¹⁹ And there came unto him his mother and brethren, and they were not able to get to him because of the multitude,

²⁰ and it was told him, saying, 'Thy mother and thy brethren do stand without, wishing to see thee;'

²¹ and he answering said unto them, 'My mother and my brethren! they are those who the word of God are hearing, and doing.'

²² And it came to pass, on one of the days, that he himself went into a boat with his disciples, and he said unto them, 'We may go over to the other side of the lake;' and they set forth,

²³ and as they are sailing he fell deeply asleep, and there came down a storm of wind to the lake, and they were filling, and were in peril.

²⁴ And having come near, they awoke him, saying, 'Master, master, we perish;' and he, having arisen, rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there came a calm,

²⁵ and he said to them, 'Where is your faith?' and they being afraid did wonder, saying unto one another, 'Who, then, is this, that even the winds he doth command, and the water, and they obey him?'

²⁶ And they sailed down to the region of the Gadarenes, that is over-against Galilee,

²⁷ and he having gone forth upon the land, there met him a certain man, out of the city, who had demons for a long time, and with a garment was not clothed, and in a house was not abiding, but in the tombs,

²⁸ and having seen Jesus, and having cried out, he fell before him, and with a loud voice, said, 'What — to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God Most High? I beseech thee, mayest thou not afflict me!'

²⁹ For he commanded the unclean spirit to come forth from the man, for many times it had caught him, and he was being bound with chains and fetters — guarded, and breaking asunder the bonds he was driven by the demons to the deserts.
