²⁸ And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee, torment me not.

²⁹ For he was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the demon into the deserts.

³⁰ And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he said, Legion; for many demons were entered into him.

³¹ And they entreated him that he would not command them to depart into the abyss.

³² Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they entreated him that he would give them leave to enter into them. And he gave them leave.

³³ And the demons came out from the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, and were drowned.

³⁴ And when they that fed them saw what had come to pass, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.

³⁵ And they went out to see what had come to pass; and they came to Jesus, and found the man, from whom the demons were gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus: and they were afraid.

³⁶ And they that saw it told them how he that was possessed with demons was made whole.

³⁷ And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes round about asked him to depart from them; for they were holden with great fear: and he entered into a boat, and returned.

³³ Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

³⁴ When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

³⁵ Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

³⁶ They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

²⁸ Many times demons attacked him. He was guarded { People tried to guard him} so that he would not injure others. Chains were fastened {They fastened chains} on his hands and shackles on his feet, but he would break the chains and shackles. Then he would be sent away by the demons {the demons would send him away} to some desolate area. When Jesus stepped out of the boat onto the shore, the man saw him. He ran to Jesus and prostrated himself before him. Then Jesus commanded, “You evil spirit, come out of that man!” But it did not leave immediately. Instead, it caused the man to shout very loudly, “Jesus, Son of the great God in heaven, since we (inc) have nothing in common, leave me alone RHQ! I beg you, do not torture me now!”

³⁰ In order to expel the demon more easily, Jesus asked the demon, “What is your (sg) name?” He replied, “My name is Crowd/Mob.” He said that because many demons had entered that man.

³¹ The demons kept begging Jesus that he would not command them to go into the deep place where God punishes demons.

³² There was a large herd of pigs ◄grazing/rooting for food► on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus that he allow them to enter the pigs. So he did.

³³ The demons left the man and entered the pigs. Then the herd of pigs rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.

³⁴ When the men who were taking care of the pigs saw what happened, they ran! They told people inside the town and outside the town what had happened.

³⁵ So people went out to see what had happened. When they came to where Jesus was, they saw that the man from whom Jesus had expelled the demons was sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to him. He had clothes on, and his mind was normal again. Then those people became afraid because they thought that Jesus would destroy more of their property (OR, because they realized that he must be very powerful).

³⁶ The people who had seen what happened told those who had just arrived how Jesus had healed the man whom demons were controlling before.

³⁷ Then those people and many other people HYP from the area near Gerasa asked Jesus to leave their area. They were very afraid of what else Jesus would do to them. So Jesus and the disciples got into the boat to go back across the lake.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, “What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torment me!”

²⁹ For he gave an order to the evil spirit to come out of the man. For frequently it would take a grip of him: and he was kept under control, and prisoned with chains; but parting the chains in two, he would be sent by the driving of the evil spirit into waste places.

³⁰ And Jesus said to him, What is your name? And he said, Legion; for a number of spirits had gone into him.

³¹ And they made a request to him that he would not give them an order to go away into the deep.

³² Now there was a great herd of pigs in that place, getting food on the mountain: and the evil spirits made a request to him that he would let them go into the pigs, and he let them.

³³ And the evil spirits came out of the man and went into the pigs: and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the water and came to destruction.

³⁴ And when the men who took care of them saw what had come about, they went quickly and gave news of it in the town and the country.

³⁵ And they went out to see what had taken place, and they came to Jesus and saw the man out of whom the evil spirits had gone, seated, clothed and with full use of his senses, at the feet of Jesus; and fear came on them.

³⁶ And those who had seen it gave them an account of how the man who had the evil spirits was made well.

³⁷ And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes made a request to him to go away from them; for they were in great fear: and he got into a boat and went back.

²⁸ But seeing Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee torment me not.

³⁴ But they that fed them, seeing what had happened, fled, and told it to the city and to the country.

³⁵ And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and sensible, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid.

³⁶ And they also who had seen it told them how the possessed man had been healed.

³⁷ And all the multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were possessed with great fear; and he, entering into the ship, returned.

³⁷ And all the multitude of the country of the Gerasens besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear. And he, going up into the ship, returned back again.

³⁵ Then they went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had come out of, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and being of sound mind. And they were afraid.

³⁶ And those also who saw reported to them how the demon-possessed man was healed.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude from the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to go away from them, because they were gripped with great fear. And He got into the boat and returned.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus he gave a yell, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice he said: “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don't torment me!”

²⁹ because He had commanded the unclean spirit to get out of the man (it had seized him many times—he would be bound with chains and shackles, being kept under guard; then bursting the bonds he would be driven by the demon into deserted places).

³⁰ Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion” (because many demons had gone into him).

³¹ And he kept imploring Him that He would not order them to go away into the Abyss.

³² Now a herd of many pigs was feeding there on the hillside; and they started begging Him that He would allow them to go into those; so He gave them permission.

³³ Then the demons exited the man and entered the pigs—and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned!

³⁴ Well when the herders saw what had happened they ran away and reported it in the town and in the countryside.

³⁵ So they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus; they found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting at Jesus' feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

³⁶ Also, the eyewitnesses reported to them how the demonized man was healed.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude from the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, because they were overcome by fear. So He got into the boat and returned.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus he screamed, fell down at Jesus' feet, and asked in a loud voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please don't torture me, I beg you!”

²⁹ For Jesus had already commanded the evil spirit to leave the man. It had often seized him, and despite being tied down with chains and shackles, and placed under guard, he would break the chains apart and would be driven by the demon into the desert areas.

³⁰ “What is your name?” Jesus asked him. “Legion,” he replied, for many demons had entered him.

³¹ They begged Jesus not to order them to go into the Abyss.

³² There was a large herd of pigs feeding on the nearby hillside, and the demons begged him to be allowed to go into the pigs. Jesus gave them permission,

³³ so the demons left the man and entered the pigs. The herd rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned.

³⁴ When the pig-keepers saw what had happened they ran off and spread the news through the town and the countryside.

³⁵ The people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus they found the man freed from the demons. He was sitting there at Jesus' feet, wearing clothes and in his right mind; and they became scared.

³⁶ Those who had seen what happened explained how the demon-possessed man had been healed.

³⁷ Then all the people from the Gerasene region asked Jesus to leave because they were overwhelmed by fear. So he got into the boat and went back.

²⁸ And when he sawe Iesus, he cryed out and fell downe before him, and with a loude voyce sayd, What haue I to doe with thee, Iesus the Sonne of God the most High? I beseech thee torment me not.

²⁹ For he commanded ye foule spirit to come out of the man: (for oft times he had caught him: therefore he was bound with chaines, and kept in fetters: but he brake the bands, and was caried of the deuill into wildernesses.)

³⁰ Then Iesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? and he sayd, Legion, because many deuils were entred into him.

³¹ And they besought him, that he would not commaund them to goe out into the deepe.

³² And there was there by, an hearde of many swine, feeding on an hill: and the deuils besought him, that he would suffer them to enter into them. So he suffered them.

³³ Then went the deuils out of the man, and entred into the swine: and the hearde was caried with violence from a steepe downe place into the lake, and was choked.

³⁴ When the heardmen sawe what was done, they fled: and when they were departed, they tolde it in the citie and in the countrey.

³⁵ Then they came out to see what was done, and came to Iesus, and found the man, out of whom the deuils were departed, sitting at the feete of Iesus, clothed, and in his right minde: and they were afrayd.

³⁶ They also which saw it, tolde them by what meanes he that was possessed with the deuill, was healed.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the countrey about the Gadarenes, besought him that he would depart from them: for they were taken with a great feare: and he went into the ship, and returned.

³⁴ And the herdsmen, seeing what was done, fled, and told the news in the city and in the country.

³⁵ And they went out to see what had been done. And they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus; and they were afraid.

³⁶ And they who had seen it told them how he that was possessed by demons was made well.

²⁸ Catching sight of Jesus, he shrieked out and threw himself down before him, and in a loud voice exclaimed, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you not to torment me.”

²⁹ For Jesus was commanding the foul spirit to come out of the man. On many occasions it had seized him, and, even when secured with chains and fetters, and watched, he would break through anything that bound him, and be driven by the demon into the Wilds.

³⁰ “What is your name?” Jesus asked. “Legion,” he answered (for many demons had taken possession of him);

³¹ and the demons begged Jesus not to order them away into the bottomless pit.

³² There was a drove of many pigs close by feeding on the hill-side; and the demons begged Jesus to give them leave to enter into them. Jesus gave them leave.

³¹ They begged him that he would not command them to go into the abyss, the bottomless netherworld.

³² Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. He allowed them.

³³ The demons came out of the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned.

³⁴ When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.

³⁵ People went out to see what had happened. They came to Yeshua Salvation, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Yeshua Salvation's feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

³⁶ Those who saw it told them how he who had been possessed by demons was healed.

³⁷ All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were very much afraid. He entered into the boat, and teshuvah ·completely returned·.

²⁸ When he sawe Iesus he cryed and fell doune before him and with a loude voyce sayde: What have I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the God moost hyest? I beseche the torment me not.

²⁹ Then he commaunded the foule sprete to come out of the man. For ofte tymes he caught him and he was bounde with chaynes and kept with fetters: and he brake the bondes and was caryed of the fende into wyldernes.

³⁰ And Iesus axed him sayinge: what is thy name? And he sayde: Legion because many devyls were entred into him.

³¹ And they besought him that he wolde not commaunde the to goo out into the depe.

³² And ther was there by an heerde of many swyne fedynge on an hyll: and they besought him that he wolde soffre the to enter into them. And he soffred them.

³³ Then went the devyls out of the man and entred into the swyne: And the heerd toke their course and ran heedlynge into the lake and were choked.

³⁴ When the herdmen sawe what had chaunsed they fleed and tolde it in the cite and in the villages.

³⁵ And they came out to se what was done: and came to Iesus and founde the man out of who the devyls were departed sittynge at the fete of Iesus clothed and in his right mynde and they were afrayde.

³⁶ They also wich sawe it tolde the by what meanes he that was possessed of the devyll was healed.

³⁷ And all the whole multitude of the cotrye of the Gaderenites besought him that he wolde departe from the: for they were taken with greate feare. And he gate him into the shippe and returned backe agayne.

³⁵ So the people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out. He was sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

³⁷ Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to depart from them, for they were overwhelmed with great fear. So he got into the boat so they could start back.

³² And there was a flock of many swine or many hogs pasturing in an hill, and they prayed him, that he should suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

³³ And so the devils went out from the man, and entered into the swine or the hogs; and with a rush the flock went headlong into the pool or into the lake of water, and was drenched or drowned.

³⁴ And when the herders saw this thing done, they fled, and told into the city, and into the towns.

³⁵ And they went out to see that thing that was done. And they came to Jesus, and they found the man sitting clothed, from whom the devils went out, and in whole mind at his feet; and they dreaded.

³⁶ And they that saw told to them, how he was made whole of the legion.

³⁷ And all the multitude of the country of Gadarenes prayed him, that he should go from them, for they were held with great dread. And he went up into a boat, and turned again.

(And all the multitude from the countryside of Gadarenes beseeched him, that he would go away from them, for they were held with great fear. And so he went up into the boat, and returned to the other side.)

²⁸ This, whanne he saiy Jhesu, fel doun bifor hym, and he criynge with a greet vois seide, What to me and to thee, Jhesu, the sone of the hiyest God? Y biseche thee, that thou turmente `not me.

²⁹ For he comaundide the vncleene spirit, that he schulde go out fro the man. For he took hym ofte tymes, and he was boundun with cheynes, and kept in stockis, and, whanne the boondis weren brokun, he was lad of deuelis in to desert.

³⁰ And Jhesus axide hym, and seide, What name is to thee? And he seide, A legioun ; for many deuelis weren entrid in to hym.

³¹ And thei preyden hym, that he schulde not comaunde hem, that thei schulden go in to helle.

³² And there was a flok of many swyne lesewynge in an hil, and thei preieden hym, that he schulde suffre hem to entre in to hem. And he suffride hem.

³³ And so the deuelis wenten out fro the man, and entriden in to the swyne; and with a birre the flok wente heedlyng in to the pool, and was drenchid.

³⁴ And whanne the hirdis sayn this thing don, thei flowen, and tolden in to the cite, and in to the townes.

³⁵ And thei yeden out to se that thing that was don. And thei camen to Jhesu, and thei founden the man sittynge clothid, fro whom the deuelis wenten out, and in hool mynde at hise feet; and thei dredden.

³⁶ And thei that sayn tolden to hem, hou he was maad hool of the legioun.

³⁷ And al the multitude of the cuntre of Gerasenus preiede hym, that he schulde go fro hem, for thei werun holdun with greet drede. He wente vp in to a boot, and turnede ayen.

²⁸ and having seen Jesus, and having cried out, he fell before him, and with a loud voice, said, 'What — to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God Most High? I beseech thee, mayest thou not afflict me!'

²⁹ For he commanded the unclean spirit to come forth from the man, for many times it had caught him, and he was being bound with chains and fetters — guarded, and breaking asunder the bonds he was driven by the demons to the deserts.

³⁰ And Jesus questioned him, saying, 'What is thy name?' and he said, 'Legion,' (because many demons were entered into him,)

³¹ and he was calling on him, that he may not command them to go away to the abyss,

³² and there was there a herd of many swine feeding in the mountain, and they were calling on him, that he might suffer them to enter into these, and he suffered them,

³³ and the demons having gone forth from the man, did enter into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep to the lake, and were choked.

³⁴ And those feeding them, having seen what was come to pass, fled, and having gone, told it to the city, and to the fields;

³⁵ and they came forth to see what was come to pass, and they came unto Jesus, and found the man sitting, out of whom the demons had gone forth, clothed, and right-minded, at the feet of Jesus, and they were afraid;

³⁶ and those also having seen it, told them how the demoniac was saved.

³⁷ And the whole multitude of the region of the Gadarenes round about asked him to go away from them, because with great fear they were pressed, and he having entered into the boat, did turn back.
