²⁹ And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them.

³⁰ And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are in health have no need of a physician; but they that are sick.

³² I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

³³ And they said unto him, The disciples of John fast often, and make supplications; likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink.

³⁴ And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

³⁵ But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days.

³⁶ And he spake also a parable unto them: No man rendeth a piece from a new garment and putteth it upon an old garment; else he will rend the new, and also the piece from the new will not agree with the old.

²⁹ Afterwards, Levi prepared a big feast in his own house for Jesus and his disciples. There was a large group of tax collectors and others eating together with them.

³⁰ The men who were there who taught the Jewish laws, ones who belonged to the Pharisee sect, complained to Jesus' disciples, saying, “◄ It is disgusting that you are eating with tax collectors and others who we(exc) consider to be sinners!/Why are you eating with tax collectors and others who we(exc) consider to be sinners?►” RHQ

³¹ Then, to indicate that it was those who knew that they had sinned who were coming to him for help, Jesus said to them, “ It is people who are sick who need a doctor, not those who are well MET.

³² Similarly, I did not come from heaven to invite those who think they are righteous to come to me. On the contrary, I came to invite those who know that they are sinners to turn from their sinful behavior and come to me.”

³³ Those Jewish leaders said to Jesus, “The disciples of John the Baptizer often abstain from food to show that they want to please God, and the disciples of the Pharisees do that, too. But your disciples keep on eating and drinking! Why do not they fast like the others?”

³⁴ To show them that it was not appropriate for his disciples to be sad and abstain from food while he was still with them MET, Jesus said to them, “When ◄the bridegroom/man who is getting married► is with his friends at the time of the wedding, you certainly do not make his friends abstain from food, do you RHQ? No, you do not do that.

³⁵ But some day he will be taken away { his enemies will take him away} from them. Then, at that time, his friends will abstain from food, because they will be sad.”

³⁶ Then Jesus told them two parables to show them that those who desire to live according to God's new message should not be forced to obey the old religious traditions like ◄ fasting/abstaining from food►, and that those who know only the old traditions are not eager to accept new ones MET. He said, “People never tear a piece of cloth from a new garment and attach it to an old garment to mend it. If they did that, not only would they be ruining the new garment by tearing it, but the new piece of cloth would not match the old garment.

³⁰ And the Pharisees and their scribes made protests against his disciples, saying, Why do you take food and drink with tax-farmers and sinners?

³¹ And Jesus, answering, said to them, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but those who are ill.

³² I have come, not to get the upright, but sinners, so that they may be turned from their sins.

³³ And they said to him, The disciples of John frequently go without food, and make prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees; but your disciples take food and drink.

³⁴ And Jesus said, Are you able to make the friends of the newly-married man go without food when he is with them?

³⁵ But the days will come when he will be taken away from them, and then they will go without food.

³⁶ And he said to them, in a story, No man takes a bit of cloth from a new coat and puts it on to an old coat, for so the new coat would be damaged and the bit from the new would not go well with the old.

²⁹ And Levi made a great entertainment for him in his house, and there was a great crowd of tax-gatherers and others who were at table with them.

³⁰ And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured at his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with tax-gatherers and sinners?

³¹ And Jesus answering said to them, They that are in sound health have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.

³² I am not come to call righteous persons, but sinful ones to repentance.

³³ And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast often and make supplications, in like manner those also of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink?

³⁴ And he said to them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast when the bridegroom is with them?

³⁵ But days will come when also the bridegroom will have been taken away from them; then shall they fast in those days.

³⁵ But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then shall they fast in those days.

³⁶ And he spoke also a similitude to them: That no man putteth a piece from a new garment upon an old garment; otherwise he both rendeth the new, and the piece taken from the new agreeth not with the old.

²⁹ Then Levi made a great banquet for Him in his own house. And there was a great number of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them to eat.

³⁰ And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

³¹ Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

³² I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

³³ Then they said to Him, “Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?”

³⁴ And He said to them, “Can you make the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them?

³⁵ But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.”

³⁶ Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one puts a patch of a new garment on an old one; otherwise both the new garment tears, and also the patch that was taken out of the new garment does not match with the old garment.

²⁹ Then Levi made a great banquet for Him at his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them.

³⁰ Well the scribes and Pharisees complained about them to His disciples, saying, “How can you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?!”

³¹ So Jesus reacted and said to them: “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, just those who are sick.

³² I have not come to call righteous people to repentance, just sinners.”

³³ Then they said to Him, “Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees, but yours keep eating and drinking?”

³⁴ So He said to them: “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?

³⁵ But days are coming when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then, in those days, they will fast.”

³⁶ Then He also told them a parable: “No one puts a patch from a new garment on an old one; otherwise, both the new makes a tear and that from the new does not match the old.

²⁹ Levi organized a large banquet at his home in Jesus' honor. Many tax collectors and others were in the crowd that sat down to eat with them. But the Pharisees and the religious teachers complained to Jesus' disciples, asking,

³⁰ “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

³¹ “Healthy people don't need a doctor—but sick people do,” Jesus replied.

³² “I didn't come to call those who are living right to repentance—I came to call sinners.”

³³ “Well, John's disciples often fast and pray, and the Pharisees' disciples do so as well. But your disciples don't—they go on eating and drinking,” they told him.

³⁴ “Should the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them?” Jesus asked.

³⁵ “No—but the time is coming when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they can fast.”

³⁶ Then he gave them an illustration: “You don't tear out a patch from new clothes to mend old clothes. Otherwise you'd ruin new clothes, and the patch from the new wouldn't match the old.

²⁹ Then Leui made him a great feast in his owne house, where there was a great company of Publicanes, and of other that sate at table with them.

³⁰ But they that were Scribes and Pharises among them, murmured against his disciples, saying, Why eate ye and drinke ye with Publicanes and sinners?

³¹ Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, They that are whole, neede not the Physician, but they that are sicke.

³² I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

³³ Then they said vnto him, Why do the disciples of Iohn fast often, and pray, and the disciples of the Pharises also, but thine eate and drinke?

³⁴ And he said vnto them, Can ye make the children of the wedding chamber to fast, as long as the bridegrome is with them?

³⁵ But the dayes will come, euen when the bridegrome shalbe taken away from them: then shall they fast in those dayes.

³⁶ Againe he spake also vnto them a parable, No man putteth a piece of a newe garment into an olde vesture: for then the newe renteth it, and the piece taken out of the newe, agreeth not with the olde.

³⁵ But the days will come — a time when the groom will be taken away from them; and they will fast then, when those days come.”

³¹ Yeshua Salvation answered them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.

³² I have not come to call the upright, but sinners to teshuvah ·complete repentance·.”

³³ They said to him, “Why do John Yah is gracious’s disciples often fast and pray, likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees Separated, but yours eat and drink?”

³⁴ He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

³⁵ But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast in those days.”

³¹ Iesus answered and sayde vnto the: They that are whole nede not of the phisicion: but they that are sicke.

³² I came not to call the rightewes but synners to repentaunce.

³³ Then they sayde vnto him: Why do the disciples of Iohn fast often and praye and the disciples of the Pharises also: and thine eate and drinke?

³⁴ And he sayde vnto them: Can ye make the chyldren of the weddinge fast as longe as the brydgrome is present with them?

³⁵ The dayes will come when the brydgrome shalbe take awaye from them: then shall they fast in those dayes

³⁶ Then he spake vnto them in a similitude: No man putteth a pece of a newe garment in to an olde vesture: for yf he do: then breaketh he the newe and the pece that was taken out of the newe agreeth not with the olde.

³³ They said to him, “The disciples of John often fast and pray, and the disciples of the Pharisees do the same. But your disciples eat and drink.”

³⁴ Jesus said to them, “Can anyone make the wedding attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is still with them?

³⁵ But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, then in those days they will fast.”

³⁶ Then Jesus also spoke a parable to them. “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and uses it to mend an old garment. If he did that, he would tear the new garment, and the piece of cloth from the new garment would not fit with the cloth of the old garment.

³¹ And Jesus answered, and said to them, They that be whole have no need to a leech, but they that be sick or they that have evil;

³² for I came not to call just men, but sinful men to penance.

³³ And they said to him, Why the disciples of John fast oft, and make prayers, also and of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink?

³⁴ To whom he said, Whether ye may make the sons of the spouse to fast, while the spouse is with them?

³⁵ But days shall come, when the spouse shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days.

³⁶ And he said to them also a likeness; For no man taketh a piece from a new cloth, and putteth it into an old clothing; else both he breaketh the new, and the piece of the new accordeth not to the old.

²⁹ And Levi made to him a great feast in his house; and there was a great company of publicans, and of others that were with them, sitting at the meat. (And Levi made a great feast for him in his house; and there was a great group of tax-collectors, and others who were with them, sitting at the meal.)

³⁰ And the Pharisees and the scribes of them grudged, and said to his disciples, Why eat ye and drink with publicans, and sinful men? (And the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled, and said to his disciples, Why do ye eat and drink with tax-collectors, and sinners?)

³¹ And Jesus answered, and said to them, They that be whole have no need to a leech, (or Those who be whole, or be well, have no need for a physician), but (rather) they that be sick or but they that have evil;

³² for I came not to call just men, but sinful men to penance. (for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.)

³³ And they said to him, Why (do) the disciples of John fast oft, and make prayers, also and of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink?

³⁴ To whom he said, Whether ye may make the sons of the spouse to fast, while the spouse is with them? (To whom he said, Can ye make the sons of the spouse to fast, while the spouse is still with them?)

³⁵ But (the) days shall come, when the spouse shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days.

³⁶ And he said to them also a likeness (or a parable); For no man taketh a piece from a new cloth, and putteth it into an old clothing, (or For no man taketh a piece from a new cloak, and putteth it onto an old piece of clothing); else both he breaketh the new, and the piece of the new accordeth not to the old.

²⁹ And Leuy made to hym a greet feeste in his hous; and ther was a greet cumpanye of pupplicans, and of othere that weren with hem, sittynge at the mete.

³⁰ And Farisees and the scribis of hem grutchiden, and seiden to hise disciplis, Whi eten ye and drynken with pupplicans and synful men?

³¹ And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, Thei that ben hoole han no nede to a leche, but thei that ben sijke;

³² for Y cam not to clepe iuste men, but synful men to penaunce.

³³ And thei seiden to hym, Whi the disciplis of Joon fasten ofte, and maken preieris, also and of Farisees, but thine eten and drynken?

³⁴ To whiche he seide, Whether ye moun make the sones of the spouse to faste, while the spouse is with hem?

³⁵ But daies schulen come, whanne the spouse schal be takun a wei fro hem, and thanne thei schulen faste in tho daies.

³⁶ And he seide to hem also a liknesse; For no man takith a pece fro a newe cloth, and puttith it in to an oold clothing; ellis bothe he brekith the newe, and the pece of the newe acordith not to the elde.

²⁹ And Levi made a great entertainment to him in his house, and there was a great multitude of tax-gatherers and others who were with them reclining (at meat),

³⁰ and the scribes and the Pharisees among them were murmuring at his disciples, saying, 'Wherefore with tax-gatherers and sinners do ye eat and drink?'

³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, 'They who are well have no need of a physician, but they that are ill:

³² I came not to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

³³ And they said unto him, 'Wherefore do the disciples of John fast often, and make supplications — in like manner also those of the Pharisees — but thine do eat and drink?'

³⁴ And he said unto them, 'Are ye able to make the sons of the bride-chamber — in the bridegroom being with them — to fast?

³⁵ but days will come, and, when the bridegroom may be taken away from them, then they shall fast in those days.'

³⁶ And he spake also a simile unto them — 'No one a patch of new clothing doth put on old clothing, and if otherwise, the new also doth make a rent, and with the old the patch doth not agree, that is from the new.
