³⁵ And he said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, and wallet, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing.

³⁶ And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁷ For I say unto you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerneth me hath fulfilment.

³⁸ And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

³⁹ And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him.

⁴⁰ And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

⁴¹ And he was parted from them about a stone’s cast; and he kneeled down and prayed,

⁴² saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

⁴³ And there appeared unto him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.

⁴⁴ And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.

⁴⁵ And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,

⁴⁶ and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.

⁴⁷ While he yet spake, behold, a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them; and he drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸ But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

⁴⁹ And when they that were about him saw what would follow, they said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

⁵⁰ And a certain one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his right ear.

⁵¹ But Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye them thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵² And Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and elders, that were come against him, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves?

⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched not forth your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

⁵⁴ And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed afar off.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them.

⁵⁶ And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him.

⁵⁷ But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not.

⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.

³⁶ Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

³⁸ And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

⁴³ And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

⁴⁴ And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

⁴⁵ And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

³⁵ Then Jesus asked all of them, “After I sent you out to other villages, and you went without taking any money or a traveling bag or extra sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?” They replied, “ That's right, we(exc) did not lack anything.”

³⁶ Then, to show them that now many people would oppose them, (OR, to show them that they needed to be prepared to protect themselves,) he said to them, “Now things will be different. So whoever among you has some money should take it with him. Likewise, he should take a carrying bag. Whoever does not have a sword should sell his coat and buy a sword.

³⁷ Because, I now tell you, something must happen to me to fulfill these words that a prophet wrote: ‘He was treated {They treated him} as though he were a criminal.’ Do not forget that everything that is {that they have} written about me in the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”

³⁸ One of the disciples said, “Lord, look! We (exc) have two swords!” Realizing that they did not understand the meaning of what he said, he replied to them, “That is enough talk about swords”!

³⁹ As Jesus left the city, he went, as he usually did, to Olive Tree Hill. His disciples went with him.

⁴⁰ When he came to the place where he often spent the night, he said to them, “Pray that God will help you whenever something tempts you.”

⁴¹ Then he went from them a distance of about thirty meters/yards. (OR, as far as someone can throw a stone.) He knelt and prayed,

⁴² “ My Father, if you are willing to do it, force me to have to undergo these terrible things that are about to happen to me MTY. But do not do what I want. Instead, do what you want.”

⁴³ Then an angel from heaven appeared to Jesus and caused him to become stronger.

⁴⁴ He was greatly distressed. So he prayed more earnestly. His sweat fell down on the ground as though it was large drops of blood.

⁴⁵ When he got up from praying, he returned to his disciples. He found that they were sleeping. They were exhausted because they were very sorrowful.

⁴⁶ He woke them and said to them, “◄I am disappointed that you are sleeping!/Why are you sleeping?► RHQ Get up! Pray that God will help you whenever you are tempted {when something like this tempts you}!”

⁴⁷ While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd came to him. Judas, even though he was one of the twelve disciples, was leading them. He came close to Jesus and kissed him on the cheek as if to greet him, but was really a signal to those with him which one was Jesus.

⁴⁸ Jesus said to him, “Judas, ◄I am disappointed that it is by kissing me that you are enabling my enemies to seize me, the one who came from heaven!/is it by kissing me as though you loved me that you are enabling my enemies to seize me, the one who came from heaven?► RHQ”

⁴⁹ When the disciples who were around Jesus realized what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we (exc) strike them with our swords?”

⁵⁰ One of his disciples drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest to kill him, but only cut off his right ear.

⁵¹ But Jesus said, “Do not do any more of that!” He touched the servant's ear and healed him.

⁵² Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the Temple guards, and the Jewish elders who had come to seize him, “◄It is ridiculous that you have come here with swords and clubs to capture MTY me, as if I were a bandit!/Why have you come here with swords and clubs to capture MTY me, as if I were a bandit?► RHQ Day after day I was with you in the Temple courtyard, and you did not seize me! But this is the time MTY when God is allowing you to do what you want. It is also the time MTY when God is allowing Satan, who rules MTY in the darkness, to do what he wants.”

⁵⁴ They seized Jesus and led him away. They brought him to the high priest's house. Peter followed them at a distance.

⁵⁵ They kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together. Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶ As the light from the fire shone on his face, a female servant saw him and looked intently at him. She said, “This man was also with the man whom they have arrested!”

⁵⁷ But Peter denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him!”

⁵⁸ A little later someone else saw Peter and said, “You (sg) also are one of those who were with the man they arrested!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not one of them!”

³⁵ He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, bag, and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

⁴⁰ And when he came to the place, he said to them, Make a prayer that you may not be put to the test.

⁴¹ And he went a little distance away from them and, falling on his knees in prayer, he said,

⁴² Father, if it is your pleasure, take this cup from me: but still, let your pleasure, not mine, be done.

⁴³ And an angel from heaven came to him, to give him strength.

⁴⁴ And being in great trouble of soul, the force of his prayer became stronger, and great drops, like blood, came from him, falling to the earth.

⁴⁵ And, getting up from prayer, he came to the disciples, and saw that they were sleeping for sorrow.

⁴⁶ And he said, Why are you sleeping? Get up, and give yourselves to prayer, so that you may not be put to the test.

⁴⁷ And while he was saying these words, there came a band of people, and Judas, one of the twelve, was in front of them, and he came near to Jesus to give him a kiss.

⁴⁸ But Jesus said to him, Judas, will you be false to the Son of man with a kiss?

⁴⁹ And when those who were with him saw what was coming, they said, Lord, may we not make use of our swords?

⁵⁰ And one of them gave a blow to the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.

⁵¹ But Jesus, answering, said, Put up with this, at least. And touching his ear, he made it well.

⁵² And Jesus said to the chief priests and the captains of the Temple and the rulers, who had come against him, Have you come out as against a thief, with swords and sticks?

⁵³ When I was in the Temple with you every day, your hands were not stretched out against me: but this is your hour, and the authority of the dark power.

⁵⁴ And they made him a prisoner and took him away to the house of the high priest. But Peter went after them at a distance.

⁵⁵ And a fire was lighted in the middle of the open square, and they were seated together, and Peter was among them.

⁵⁶ And a certain woman-servant, seeing him in the light of the fire, and looking at him with attention, said, This man was with him.

⁵⁷ But he said, Woman, it is not true; I have no knowledge of him.

⁵⁸ And after a little time, another saw him and said, You are one of them; and he said, Man, I am not.

³⁵ And he said to them, When I sent you without purse and scrip and sandals, did ye lack anything? And they said, Nothing.

³⁶ He said therefore to them, But now he that has a purse let him take it, in like manner also a scrip, and he that has none let him sell his garment and buy a sword;

³⁷ for I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned with the lawless: for also the things concerning me have an end.

³⁸ And they said, Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

⁴⁶ And he said to them, Why sleep ye? rise up and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

⁴⁷ As he was yet speaking, behold, a crowd, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went on before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸ And Jesus said to him, Judas, deliverest thou up the Son of man with a kiss?

⁴⁹ And they who were around him, seeing what was going to follow, said to him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

⁵⁰ And a certain one from among them smote the bondman of the high priest and took off his right ear.

⁵¹ And Jesus answering said, Suffer thus far; and having touched his ear, he healed him.

⁵² And Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who were come against him, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks?

⁵³ When I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.

⁵⁴ And having laid hold on him, they led him away, and they led him into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed afar off.

⁵⁵ And they having lit a fire in the midst of the court and sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶ And a certain maid, having seen him sitting by the light, and having fixed her eyes upon him, said, And this man was with him.

⁵⁷ But he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him.

⁵⁸ And after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.

³⁵ When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you want anything?

³⁶ But they said: Nothing. Then said he unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip; and he that hath not, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword.

³⁷ For I say to you, that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me: And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end.

³⁸ But they said: Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

³⁹ And going out, he went, according to his custom, to the mount of Olives. And his disciples also followed him.

⁴⁰ And when he was come to the place, he said to them: Pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

⁴² Saying: Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from me: but yet not my will, but thine be done.

⁴⁴ And his sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.

⁴⁵ And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow.

⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, you did not stretch forth your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

⁵⁴ And apprehending him, they led him to the high priest’s house. But Peter followed afar off.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were sitting about it, Peter was in the midst of them.

⁵⁶ Whom when a certain servant maid had seen sitting at the light, and had earnestly beheld him, she said: This man also was with him.

⁵⁷ But he denied him, saying: Woman, I know him not.

⁵⁸ And after a little while, another seeing him, said: Thou also art one of them. But Peter said: O man, I am not.

³⁵ And He said to them, “When I sent you without a money bag, and a knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”

³⁶ Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise also a knapsack; and he who has no sword shall sell his garment and buy one.

³⁷ For I say to you that this which has been written must still be accomplished in Me—the saying, ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have a fulfillment.”

⁵⁸ And after a little while another person saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”

³⁵ Then He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”

⁴⁸ So Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of the Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁹ When those who were around Him saw what was about to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁵⁴ Then they seized, took and brought Him to the house of the high priest, with Peter following at a distance.

⁵⁵ Now when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶ Then a certain servant girl, seeing him sitting by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁷ But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know him!”

⁵⁸ After a little while another saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”

³⁵ Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without money, without a bag, and without an extra pair of sandals, did you lack anything?” “No, nothing,” they replied.

³⁶ “But now, if you have money you should take it, as well as a bag, and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

³⁷ I tell you that this statement in Scripture about me must be fulfilled: ‘He was counted with the wicked.’ What was said about me is now being fulfilled.”

³⁸ “Look, Lord, here are two swords,” they said. “That's enough,” he replied.

³⁹ Jesus left and as usual went to the Mount of Olives together with his disciples.

⁴⁰ When he arrived he said to them, “Pray that you don't give in to temptation.”

⁴¹ Then he left them and walked about a stone's throw away, where he kneeled down and prayed.

⁴² “Father,” he prayed, “if you're willing, please take away this cup of suffering from me. But I want to do what you want, not what I want.”

⁴³ Then an angel appeared from heaven to strengthen him.

⁴⁴ In great distress Jesus prayed even harder, and his sweat fell like drops of blood onto the ground.

⁴⁵ He finished praying, stood up, and went over to the disciples. He found them asleep, worn out by grief.

⁴⁶ “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you won't fall into temptation.”

⁴⁷ While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared led by Judas, one of the twelve disciples. Judas went up to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸ But Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of man with a kiss?”

⁴⁹ Jesus' followers asked him, “Lord, should we attack them with our swords?”

⁵⁰ And one of them struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear.

⁵¹ “Stop! No more of this!” said Jesus. He touched the man's ear and healed him.

⁵² Then Jesus spoke to the chief priests, and the officers of the Temple guard, and the elders. “Am I some kind of criminal that you had to come with swords and clubs?” he asked.

⁵³ “You didn't arrest me before, even though I was with you in the Temple every day. But this is your moment now, the time when darkness is in power.”

⁵⁴ They arrested him and led him away, taking him to the chief priest's house. Peter followed at a distance.

⁵⁵ They started a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down by it. Peter was there among them.

⁵⁶ As he sat there, a servant girl noticed him in the firelight, and stared directly at him and said,

⁵⁷ “This man was with him.” But Peter denied it. “Woman, I don't know him!” he said.

⁵⁸ A little later someone else looked at him and said, “You're also one of them.” “No, I'm not!” Peter replied.

³⁵ And he saide vnto them, When I sent you without bagge, and scrip, and shooes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

³⁶ Then he said to them, But nowe he that hath a bagge, let him take it, and likewise a scrip: and hee that hath none, let him sell his coate, and buy a sworde.

³⁷ For I say vnto you, That yet the same which is written, must be perfourmed in me, Euen with the wicked was he nombred: for doubtlesse those things which are written of me, haue an ende.

⁴⁸ And Iesus saide vnto him, Iudas, betrayest thou the Sonne of man with a kisse?

⁴⁹ Now when they which were about him, saw what would follow, they said vnto him, Lord, shall we smite with sworde?

⁵⁰ And one of them smote a seruant of the hie Priest, and strooke off his right eare.

⁵¹ Then Iesus answered, and said, Suffer them thus farre: and he touched his eare, and healed him.

⁵² Then Iesus said vnto the hie Priests, and captaines of the Temple, and the Elders which were come to him, Bee ye come out as vnto a theefe with swordes and staues?

⁵³ When I was dayly with you in the Temple, yee stretched not foorth the handes against mee: but this is your very houre, and the power of darkenesse.

⁵⁴ Then tooke they him, and led him, and brought him to the hie Priestes house. And Peter followed afarre off.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the middes of the hall, and were set downe together, Peter also sate downe among them.

⁵⁶ And a certaine mayde behelde him as hee sate by the fire, and hauing well looked on him, said, This man was also with him.

³⁵ Jesus said to his followers, “Remember that time I told you to go to other communities to tell people God’s story, and I told you not to take a bag, or money or extra shoes? Did you get the things you needed anyway, at that time? Or did you go short of something?” They said, “No, we didn’t go short of anything.”

³⁶ Then Jesus said, “But it is different now. Listen, if you have a bag, or money, take it with you. And you will need a long knife to fight with, too. So if you haven’t got one, sell your coat to get some money and buy one.

³⁷ You see, something is going to happen now that is in God’s book. A long time ago God got his men to write this, ‘The people reckoned God’s man was bad, and they treated him the way they treat bad criminals.’ Listen, I’m telling you, they are going to do that now. They are going to do it to me.”

³⁸ They said, “Sir, we’ve got 2 long knives here.” Jesus said, “That’s enough. We can’t talk about it any more.”

³⁵ And he sayde vnto them: when I sent you with out wallet and scripe and shoes? lacked ye eny thinge? And they sayd no.

³⁶ And he sayde to them: but nowe he that hath a wallet let him take it vp and lykewyse his scrippe. And he that hath no swearde let him sell his coote and bye one.

³⁷ For I saye vnto you that yet that which is written must be performed in me: even with the wycked was he nombred. For those thinges which are written of me have an ende.

³⁷ For I say to you, what is written about me must be fulfilled, 'He was counted with the lawless ones.' For what is predicted about me is being fulfilled.”

³⁸ Then they said, “Lord, look! Here are two swords.” He said to them, “It is enough.”

⁵⁴ And they took him, and led to the house of the prince of priests; and Peter pursued him afar.

⁵⁵ And when a fire was kindled in the middle of the great house, and they sat about, Peter was in the middle of them.

⁵⁶ Whom when a damsel, or a handmaid/a handmaiden, had seen sitting at the light, and had beheld him, she said, And this was with him.

⁵⁷ And he denied him, and said, Woman, I know him not.

⁵⁸ And after a little another man saw him, and said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, A! man, I am not.

⁴⁶ And he said to them, What, sleep ye? Rise ye, and pray ye, that ye enter not into temptation. (And he said to them, Why do ye sleep? Rise, and pray, so that ye do not enter into, or be put to, the test.)

⁴⁷ Yet while he spake, lo! a company, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them; and he came nigh to Jesus, to kiss him.

⁴⁸ And Jesus said to him, Judas, betrayest thou man’s Son with a kiss?

⁴⁹ And they that were about him, and saw that that was to come, said to him, Lord, whether we smite (them) with (our) sword(s)? (or Lord, shall we strike them with the swords?)

⁵⁰ And one of them smote the servant of the prince of (the) priests (or And one of them struck the servant of the High Priest), and cut off his right ear.

⁵¹ But Jesus answered, and said, Suffer ye till hither (or Allow this to be). And when he had touched his ear, he healed him.

⁵² And Jesus said to them, that came to him, the princes of (the) priests, and (the) magistrates or the masters of the temple, and (the) elder men, As to a thief ye have gone out with swords and staves? (And Jesus said to those, who came to take hold of him, the high priests, and the magistrates, or the officials, of the Temple, and the elders, You have gone out with swords and bats, or clubs, like after a thief?)

⁵³ When I was each day with you in the temple, ye stretched not out (your) hands into me; but this is your hour, and the power of darknesses.

⁵⁴ And they took him, and led (him) to the house of the prince of (the) priests; and Peter (pur)sued him afar. (And they took hold of him, and then led him to the High Priest’s house; and Peter followed him from afar.)

⁵⁵ And when a fire was kindled in the middle of the great house, and they sat about, Peter was in the middle of them. (And when a fire was kindled in the middle of the courtyard, they sat around it, and Peter was in their midst.)

⁵⁶ Whom when a damsel, or a handmaid, or a handmaiden, had seen sitting at the light, and had beheld him, she said, And this (man) was with him (or Yea, he was with him).

⁵⁷ And he denied him (or But he denied it), and said, Woman, I know him not.

⁵⁸ And after a little another man saw him, and said, And thou art (one) of them. But Peter said, A! man, I am not.

³⁵ And he seide to hem, Whanne Y sente you with outen sachel, and scrippe, and schone, whether ony thing failide to you?

³⁶ And thei seiden, No thing. Therfor he seide to hem, But now he that hath a sachel, take also and a scrippe; and he that hath noon, selle his coote, and bigge a swerd.

³⁷ For Y seie to you, that yit it bihoueth that thing that is writun to be fulfillid in me, And he is arettid with wickid men; for tho thingis that ben of me han ende.

³⁸ And thei seiden, Lord, lo! twei swerdis here. And he seide to hem, It is ynowy.

³⁹ And he yede out, and wente aftir the custom in to the hille of Olyues; and the disciplis sueden hym.

⁴⁰ And whanne he cam to the place, he seide to hem, Preye ye, lest ye entren in to temptacioun.

⁴¹ And he was taken awei fro hem, so myche as is a stonys cast; and he knelide,

⁴² and preyede, and seide, Fadir, if thou wolt, do awei this cuppe fro me; netheles not my wille be don, but thin.

⁴³ And an aungel apperide to hym fro heuene, and coumfortide hym. And he was maad in agonye, and preyede the lenger;

⁴⁴ and his swot was maad as dropis of blood rennynge doun in to the erthe.

⁴⁵ And whanne he was rysun fro preier, and was comun to hise disciplis, he foond hem slepynge for heuynesse.

⁴⁶ And he seide to hem, What slepen ye? Rise ye, and preye ye, that ye entre not in to temptacioun.

⁴⁷ Yit while he spak, lo! a company, and he that was clepid Judas, oon of the twelue, wente bifor hem; and he cam to Jhesu, to kisse hym.

⁴⁸ And Jhesus seide to hym, Judas, `with a coss `thou bytrayest `mannys sone.

⁴⁹ And thei that weren aboute hym, and sayn that that was to come, seiden to hym, Lord, whether we smyten with swerd?

⁵⁰ And oon of hem smoot the seruaunt of the prince of preestis, and kittide of his riyt eere.

⁵¹ But Jhesus answerde, and seide, Suffre ye til hidir. And whanne he hadde touchid his eere, he heelide hym.

⁵² And Jhesus seide to hem, that camen to hym, the princis of preestis, and maiestratis of the temple, and eldre men, As to a theef ye han gon out with swerdis and staues?

⁵³ Whanne Y was ech dai with you in the temple, ye streiyten not out hondis in to me; but this is youre our, and the power of derknessis.

⁵⁴ And thei token him, and ledden to the hous of the prince of prestis; and Petir suede hym afer.

⁵⁵ And whanne a fier was kyndelid in the myddil of the greet hous, and thei saten aboute, Petir was in the myddil of hem.

⁵⁶ Whom whanne a damysel hadde seyn sittynge `at the liyt, and hadde biholdun hym, sche seide, And this was with hym.

⁵⁷ And he denyede hym, and seide, Womman, Y knowe hym not.

⁵⁸ And aftir a litil another man siy hym, and seide, And thou art of hem. But Petir seide, A! man, Y am not.

³⁵ And he said to them, 'When I sent you without bag, and scrip, and sandals, did ye lack anything?' and they said, 'Nothing.'

³⁶ Then said he to them, 'But, now, he who is having a bag, let him take it up, and in like manner also a scrip; and he who is not having, let him sell his garment, and buy a sword,

³⁷ for I say to you, that yet this that hath been written it behoveth to be fulfilled in me: And with lawless ones he was reckoned, for also the things concerning me have an end.'

³⁸ And they said, 'Sir, lo, here are two swords;' and he said to them, 'It is sufficient.'

³⁹ And having gone forth, he went on, according to custom, to the mount of the Olives, and his disciples also followed him,

⁴⁰ and having come to the place, he said to them, 'Pray ye not to enter into temptation.'

⁴¹ And he was withdrawn from them, as it were a stone's cast, and having fallen on the knees he was praying,

⁴² saying, 'Father, if Thou be counselling to make this cup pass from me — ;but, not my will, but Thine be done.' —

⁴³ And there appeared to him a messenger from heaven strengthening him;

⁴⁴ and having been in agony, he was more earnestly praying, and his sweat became, as it were, great drops of blood falling upon the ground.

⁴⁵ And having risen up from the prayer, having come unto the disciples, he found them sleeping from the sorrow,

⁴⁶ and he said to them, 'Why do ye sleep? having risen, pray that ye may not enter into temptation.'

⁴⁷ And while he is speaking, lo, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, was coming before them, and he came nigh to Jesus to kiss him,

⁴⁸ and Jesus said to him, 'Judas, with a kiss the Son of Man dost thou deliver up?'

⁴⁹ And those about him, having seen what was about to be, said to him, 'Sir, shall we smite with a sword?'

⁵⁰ And a certain one of them smote the servant of the chief priest, and took off his right ear,

⁵¹ and Jesus answering said, 'Suffer ye thus far,' and having touched his ear, he healed him.

⁵² And Jesus said to those having come upon him — chief priests, and magistrates of the temple, and elders — 'As upon a robber have ye come forth, with swords and sticks?

⁵³ while daily I was with you in the temple, ye did stretch forth no hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of the darkness.'

⁵⁴ And having taken him, they led and brought him to the house of the chief priest. And Peter was following afar off,

⁵⁵ and they having kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and having sat down together, Peter was sitting in the midst of them,

⁵⁶ and a certain maid having seen him sitting at the light, and having earnestly looked at him, she said, 'And this one was with him!'

⁵⁷ and he disowned him, saying, 'Woman, I have not known him.'

⁵⁸ And after a little, another having seen him, said, 'And thou art of them!' and Peter said, 'Man, I am not.'
