Then He said to them, 鈥淲hen I sent you without money bag, knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?鈥 And they said, 鈥淣othing.鈥
So He said to them: 鈥淏ut now, he who has a money bag should take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword must sell his garment and buy one.
Because I say to you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: 鈥楢nd he was classed with the lawless鈥; and because the things concerning me have an end.鈥
So they said, 鈥淟ook, Lord, here are two swords.鈥 And He said to them, 鈥淚t is enough.鈥
Then going out He went to the Mount of Olives, as His custom was, and His disciples followed Him.
When He came to the place, He said to them, 鈥淧ray, so as not to enter into temptation.鈥
Then He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down and prayed,
saying, 鈥淔ather, if you would just remove this cup from me鈥攏evertheless, not my will, but yours, be done!鈥
Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.
And being in anguish He prayed with total concentration; then His sweat became like clots of blood, falling to the ground.
When He rose up from prayer and came to the disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.
He said to them: 鈥淲hy do you sleep? Get up and pray, that you may not enter into temptation!鈥
But while He was still speaking鈥攚ow, a crowd; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them! He approached Jesus to kiss Him (he had given them this sign, 鈥淲homever I kiss, it is he鈥).
So Jesus said to him, 鈥淛udas, are you betraying the Son of the Man with a kiss?鈥
When those who were around Him saw what was about to happen, they said to Him, 鈥淟ord, shall we strike with the sword?鈥
And a certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear!
But Jesus reacted by saying, 鈥淎llow at least this!鈥 and touching his ear He healed him.
Then Jesus said to the chief priests, officers of the temple, and elders who had come against Him: 鈥淗ave you come out with swords and clubs as against a bandit?
When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour; even the authority of the darkness!鈥
Then they seized, took and brought Him to the house of the high priest, with Peter following at a distance.
Now when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.
Then a certain servant girl, seeing him sitting by the fire, looked intently at him and said, 鈥淭his man also was with him.鈥
But he denied Him, saying, 鈥淲oman, I do not know him!鈥
After a little while another saw him and said, 鈥淵ou also are one of them.鈥 But Peter said, 鈥淢an, I am not!鈥
