⁵³ They shall be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother in law against her daughter in law, and daughter in law against her mother in law.

⁵⁴ And he said to the multitudes also, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it cometh to pass.

⁵⁵ And when ye see a south wind blowing, ye say, There will be a scorching heat; and it cometh to pass.

⁵⁶ Ye hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of the earth and the heaven; but how is it that ye know not how to interpret this time?

⁵⁷ And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

⁵⁸ For as thou art going with thine adversary before the magistrate, on the way give diligence to be quit of him; lest haply he drag thee unto the judge, and the judge shall deliver thee to the officer, and the officer shall cast thee into prison.

⁵⁹ I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the very last mite.

⁵³ The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

⁵⁸ When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

⁵⁹ I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.

⁵³ A man will oppose his son, or a son will oppose his father. A woman will oppose her daughter, or a woman will oppose her mother. A woman will oppose her daughter-in-law, or a woman will oppose her mother-in-law.”

⁵⁴ He also said to the crowds, “ In this country, when you see a dark cloud forming in the west, you immediately say ‘It is going to rain!’ and that is what happens.

⁵⁵ In this region, when the wind blows from the south, you say, ‘It is going to be a very hot day!’ and that is what happens.

⁵⁶ You hypocrites! By observing the clouds and the wind, you are able to discern what is happening regarding the weather. It is disgusting that you are not able to discern what God is doing at this present time RHQ!

⁵⁷ ◄Each of you ought to determine now what is the right thing for you to do, while you still have time to do that!/Why cannot each of you determine what is the right thing for you to do now while you still have time to do that?► RHQ

⁵⁸ If you do not do that, God will punish you MET. It will be like what happens when someone takes one of you to court, saying that you (sg) have done something very bad. You should try to settle things with him while you are still on the way to the court. If he forces you to go to the judge, the judge will decide that you are guilty and put you into the hands of the court officer. Then that officer will put you in prison.

⁵⁹ I tell you that if you go to prison, you will never get out, because you will never be able to pay every bit of what the judge says you owe MET. Similarly, you ought to settle accounts with God before you die, too.”

⁵⁶ O false ones! the face of the earth and the heaven is clear to you; how is it that the signs of these times are not as clear to you?

⁵⁷ And why are you, in your hearts, unable to be judges of what is right?

⁵⁸ For if anyone has a cause at law against you, and you are going with him before the ruler, make an attempt, on the way, to come to an agreement with him, for if you do not, he may take you before the judge and the judge will give you up to the police, and they will put you in prison.

⁵⁹ I say to you, You will not come out of it till you have made payment to the very last farthing.

⁵⁸ For as thou goest with thine adverse party before a magistrate, strive in the way to be reconciled with him, lest he drag thee away to the judge, and the judge shall deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

⁵⁹ I say to thee, thou shalt not go out thence, until thou pay the very last mite.

⁵³ Father will be divided against a son and a son against father, a mother against a daughter and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

⁵⁴ Then He also said to the crowds, “Whenever you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, ‘A rainstorm is coming’; and so it happens.

⁵⁵ And whenever you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and it happens.

⁵⁶ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the earth and sky, but how is it you do not discern this time?

⁵⁷ And why do you not judge what is right, even of yourselves?

⁵⁸ When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, make an effort to make a settlement with him on the road, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the bailiff, and the bailiff throw you into prison.

⁵⁹ I tell you, you shall by no means depart from there till you have paid the very last mite.”

⁵³ Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

⁵⁹ I tell you, you will by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.”

⁵³ They will be divided against each other—father against son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

⁵⁴ Then Jesus spoke to the crowds. “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, ‘a rain-shower's coming,’ and it happens.

⁵⁵ When a south wind blows, you say ‘it's going to be hot,’ and it is.

⁵⁶ You hypocrites, how is it that you know how to rightly interpret the weather but you don't know how to interpret the present time?

⁵⁷ Why don't you think for yourselves and judge what's the right thing to do?

⁵⁸ As you go with your accuser to the magistrate, on the way you should be working on a settlement. Otherwise you may be dragged before the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.

⁵⁹ I tell you, you won't get out until you've paid the last penny.”

⁵³ The father shalbe deuided against ye sonne, and the sonne against the father: the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother: the mother in lawe against her daughter in lawe, and the daughter in lawe against her mother in lawe.

⁵⁵ And when ye see the South winde blowe, ye say, that it wilbe hoate: and it commeth to passe.

⁵⁶ Hypocrites, ye can discerne the face of the earth, and of the skie: but why discerne ye not this time?

⁵⁷ Yea, and why iudge ye not of your selues what is right?

⁵⁸ While thou goest with thine aduersarie to the ruler, as thou art in the way, giue diligence in the way, that thou mayest be deliuered from him, least he drawe thee to the iudge, and the iudge deliuer thee to the iayler, and the iayler cast thee into prison.

⁵⁹ I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast payed the vtmost mite.

⁵⁵ And sometimes the south wind blows, and you say, ‘Today will be really hot.’ And again, you are right.

⁵⁶ But you are fools. You look at the earth and the sky, and you know how to work out what the weather is doing, but whenever you look at the things that are happening right now, you don’t know how to work out what God is doing.”

⁵³ The father shalbe devided agaynst the sonne and the sonne agaynst the father. The mother agaynst the doughter and the doughter agaynst the mother. The moter eleawe agaynst hir doughterelawe and the doughterelawe agaynst hir motherelawe.

⁵⁴ Then sayde he to the people: when ye se a cloude ryse out of the west strayght waye ye saye: we shall have a shower and soo it is.

⁵⁵ And when ye se the south wynde blow ye saye: we shall have heet and it cometh to passe.

⁵⁶ Ypocrites ye can skyll of the fassion of the erth and of the skye: but what is the cause that ye cannot skyll of this time?

⁵⁷ Ye and why iudge ye not of youre selves what is righte?

⁵⁸ Whill thou goest with thyne adversary to the ruler: as thou arte in the waye geve diligence that thou mayst be delivered from him least he bringe the to the iudge and the iudge delyver the to the iaylar and the iaylar cast the in to preson.

⁵⁹ I tell the thou departest not thence tyll thou have made good the vtmost myte.

⁵³ They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

⁵⁴ Jesus was saying to the crowds also, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'A shower is coming,' and so it happens.

⁵⁵ When a south wind is blowing, you say, 'There will be a scorching heat,' and it happens.

⁵⁶ Hypocrites, you know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the heavens, but how is it that you do not know how to interpret the present time?

⁵⁵ And when ye see the south blowing, ye say, That heat shall be; and it is done.

⁵⁶ Hypocrites, ye know how to prove the face of heaven and of earth, but how prove ye not this time?.

⁵⁷ But what and of yourselves ye deem not that that is just? Forsooth why and of yourselves deem ye not this thing that is just?

⁵⁸ But when thou goest with thine adversary in the way to the prince or to the prince in the way, do busyness to be delivered from him; lest peradventure he take thee to the doomsman, and the doomsman betake thee to the masterful asker, and the masterful asker send thee into prison.

⁵⁹ I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence, till thou yield the last farthing.

⁵³ the father against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the husband’s mother against the son’s wife, and the son’s wife against her husband’s mother.

⁵⁴ And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rising from the sun going down, anon ye say (or at once ye say), Rain cometh; and so it is done.

⁵⁵ And when ye see the south blowing, ye say, That heat shall be; and it is done.

⁵⁶ Hypocrites, ye know how to prove the face of heaven and of earth, but how prove ye not this time?. (Hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of heaven and of earth, but not how to interpret this present time?)

⁵⁷ But what and of yourselves ye deem not that that is just? Forsooth why and of yourselves deem ye not this thing that is just? (But why can ye not judge for yourselves what is the right thing to do?)

⁵⁸ But when thou goest with thine adversary in the way (or on the way) to the prince or Forsooth when thou goest with thine adversary to the prince in the way, do busyness to be delivered from him; lest peradventure he take thee to the doomsman (or lest perhaps he take thee to the judge), and the doomsman betake thee to the masterful asker, and the masterful asker send thee into prison.

⁵⁹ I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence, till thou yield the last farthing.

⁵³ the fadir ayens the sone, and the sone ayens the fadir; the modir ayens the douytir, and the douytir ayens the modir; the hosebondis modir ayens the sones wijf, and and the sones wijf ayens hir hosebondis modir.

⁵⁴ And he seide also to the puple, Whanne ye seen a cloude risynge fro the sunne goynge doun, anoon ye seien, Reyn cometh; and so it is don.

⁵⁵ And whanne ye seen the south blowynge, ye seien, That heete schal be; and it is don.

⁵⁶ Ypocritis, ye kunnen preue the face of heuene and of erthe, but hou preuen ye not this tyme.

⁵⁷ But what and of you silf ye demen not that that is iust?

⁵⁸ But whanne thou goist with thin aduersarie in the weie to the prince, do bisynesse to be delyuerid fro hym; lest perauenture he take thee to the domesman, and the domesman bitake thee to the maistirful axer, and the maistirful axer sende thee in to prisoun.

⁵⁹ Y seie to thee, thou schalt not go fro thennus, til thou yelde the laste ferthing.

⁵³ a father shall be divided against a son, and a son against a father, a mother against a daughter, and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.'

⁵⁴ And he said also to the multitudes, 'When ye may see the cloud rising from the west, immediately ye say, A shower doth come, and it is so;

⁵⁵ and when — a south wind blowing, ye say, that there will be heat, and it is;

⁵⁶ hypocrites! the face of the earth and of the heaven ye have known to make proof of, but this time — how do ye not make proof of it?

⁵⁷ 'And why, also, of yourselves, judge ye not what is righteous?

⁵⁸ for, as thou art going away with thy opponent to the ruler, in the way give diligence to be released from him, lest he may drag thee unto the judge, and the judge may deliver thee to the officer, and the officer may cast thee into prison;

⁵⁹ I say to thee, thou mayest not come forth thence till even the last mite thou mayest give back.'
