³⁴ The multitude therefore answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness overtake you not: and he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

³⁶ While ye have the light, believe on the light, that ye may become sons of light. These things spake Jesus, and he departed and hid himself from them.

³⁷ But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they believed not on him:

³⁸ that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

³⁹ For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again,

⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should turn, And I should heal them.

⁴¹ These things said Isaiah, because he saw his glory; and he spake of him.

⁴² Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

⁴³ for they loved the glory that is of men more than the glory that is of God.

⁴⁴ And Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

⁴⁵ And he that beholdeth me beholdeth him that sent me.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness.

³⁴ Therefore the crowd answered Him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever, so how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

³⁵ Jesus told them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. If you walk in the darkness, you don’t know where you are going.

³⁶ Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” After Jesus had said this, he departed and hid from them.

³⁷ Although He had performed so many signs in front of them, they still didn’t believe in Him,

³⁸ so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And who has the arm of the LORD been revealed to?”

³⁹ Therefore they couldn’t believe, because Isaiah said again:

⁴⁰ “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts and turn — and I would heal them.”

⁴¹ Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about Him.

⁴² Nevertheless, even many of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they weren’t confessing Him, for fear that they might be put out of the synagogue;

⁴³ because they sincerely loved men’s approval more than God’s approval.

⁴⁴ Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me doesn’t just believe in me, but in Him who sent me.

⁴⁵ Whoever sees me sees Him who sent me.

⁴⁶ I have come into the world as light, that everyone who believes in me should not stay in darkness.

³⁴ The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

³⁵ Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

³⁶ While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

³⁸ That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

⁴¹ These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

⁴² Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

⁴⁴ Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

⁴⁵ And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

³⁴ Someone in the crowd answered him, “We understand from the Scriptures that the Messiah will live forever. So why do you say that the one who came from heaven, who is the Messiah, will be lifted up {that men will lift up the one who came from heaven, who is the Messiah,} on a cross? What kind of man who came from heaven are you talking about? (OR, That's not the kind of Messiah we are expecting!)”

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, “ My message is like MET a light for you. I will be with you for only a little while longer. Live and act as you should while I am still with you, because suddenly you will have no more opportunity to hear my message! You do not want to be like MET someone who cannot see where he is going anymore when it suddenly becomes dark!

³⁶ Believe in my message MET while you still have an opportunity to do it, in order that you may become people who have accepted my truth MET!” John 12:36b-43 After Jesus said those things, he left them and hid from them.

³⁷ Although he had done many miracles while people were watching, most of them refused to believe that he is ◄ the Messiah/from God►.

³⁸ Their stubbornness and refusal to believe was similar to the stubbornness of the people that the prophet Isaiah wrote about long ago: Lord, ◄hardly anyone has believed our message!/who has believed our message?► RHQ Most people refused to accept it, even though you showed them your power!

³⁹ That was the reason why they were unable to believe. It was like Isaiah wrote somewhere else that God said:

⁴⁰ They have refused to understand; they acted as though they were blind people! They were insensible in their inner beings! As a result, they have not perceived my truth! They have not understood it in their inner beings! They have not turned from their sinful lives, and because of that I cannot help them!

⁴¹ Isaiah wrote that because it was as though he saw ahead of time how great Jesus would be, and he prophesied those things about him.

⁴² Although most of the Jewish leaders SYN did not believe that Jesus is ◄ the Messiah/from God►, some of them believed in him. But they would not tell anyone that they believed in him, because they were afraid that if they said that, the Pharisees would not let them worship in the synagogues.

⁴³ They wanted people to praise them more than they wanted God to praise them.

⁴⁴ Another day, when Jesus was teaching the people, he shouted, “Those who believe in me, they are not believing in me alone. Instead, it is as though they also believe in the one who sent me.

⁴⁵ When they see me and what I am doing, it is as though they are seeing the one who sent me.

⁴⁶ I have come into the world to show people God's truth, as a light shows people what is around them. I have come in order that people who believe in me will not remain ignorant of God's truth MET, as those who are in the darkness are ignorant of what is around them.

³⁴ Then the people in answer said to him, The law says that the Christ will have life without end: how say you then that it is necessary for the Son of man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

³⁵ Jesus said to them, For a little time longer the light will be among you; while you have the light go on walking in it, so that the dark may not overtake you: one walking in the dark has no knowledge of where he is going.

³⁶ In so far as you have the light, put your faith in the light so that you may become sons of light. With these words Jesus went away and for a time was not seen again by them.

³⁷ But though he had done such a number of signs before them, they still had no belief in him:

³⁸ So that the words of the prophet Isaiah might come true, when he said, Lord, who has any belief in our preaching? and the arm of the Lord, to whom has it been unveiled?

³⁹ For this reason they were unable to have belief, because Isaiah said again,

⁴⁰ He has made their eyes blind, and their hearts hard; for fear that they might see with their eyes and get knowledge with their hearts, and be changed, and I might make them well.

⁴¹ (Isaiah said these words because he saw his glory. His words were about him.)

⁴² However, a number even of the rulers had belief in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not say so openly for fear that they might be shut out from the Synagogue:

⁴³ For the praise of men was dearer to them than the approval of God.

⁴⁴ Then Jesus said with a loud voice, He who has faith in me, has faith not in me, but in him who sent me.

⁴⁵ And he who sees me, sees him who sent me.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, so that no one who has faith in me will go on living in the dark.

³⁴ The crowd answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abides for ever; and how sayest thou that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this, the Son of man?

³⁹ Therefore they were unable to believe, in that Isaiah said again:

⁴⁰ “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes and understand with their hearts and should turn around, and I would heal them.”

⁴¹ Isaiah said these things when he saw His glory and spoke concerning Him.

⁴² Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed into Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, so they would not be expelled from the synagogue;

⁴³ for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

⁴⁴ Jesus called out and said: “The one believing into me believes not into me but into Him who sent me.

⁴⁵ And the one seeing me sees Him who sent me.

⁴⁶ I, Light, have come into the world so that everyone who believes into me will not remain in the darkness.

³⁴ The crowd responded, “The Law tells us that the Messiah will live forever, so how can you say the Son of man must be ‘lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of man’?”

³⁵ Jesus replied, “The light is here with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that the darkness doesn't overtake you. Those who walk in the dark don't know where they're going.

³⁶ Put your trust in the light while you still have it so that you can become children of light.” When Jesus had told them this, he left and hid himself from them.

³⁷ But despite all the miracles he had done in their presence, they still did not trust in Jesus.

³⁸ This fulfilled the message of Isaiah the prophet who said, “Lord, who has believed what we told them? To whom has the Lord's power been revealed?”

³⁹ They were not able to trust him, and as a result they fulfilled what Isaiah also said:

⁴⁰ “He blinded their eyes, and made their minds dull, so that their eyes would not see, and their minds would not think, and they would not turn to me—for if they did I would heal them.”

⁴¹ Isaiah saw Jesus' glory and said this in reference to him.

⁴² Even so many of the leaders did trust in him. However, they did not openly admit it because they did not want the Pharisees to expel them from the synagogue,

⁴³ loving human admiration more than God's approval.

⁴⁴ Jesus called out, “If you trust in me you're not just trusting in me but also in the one who sent me.

⁴⁵ When you see me, you're seeing the one who sent me.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light shining into the world, so if you trust in me you won't remain in the dark.

³⁴ The people answered him, We haue heard out of the Law, that that Christ bideth for euer: and howe sayest thou, that that Sonne of man must be lift vp? Who is that Sonne of man?

³⁵ Then Iesus sayd vnto them, Yet a litle while is the light with you: walke while ye haue that light, lest the darkenes come vpon you: for hee that walketh in the darke, knoweth not whither he goeth.

³⁶ While ye haue that light, beleeue in that light, that ye may be the children of the light. These things spake Iesus, and departed, and hid himselfe from them.

³⁷ And though he had done so many miracles before them, yet beleeued they not on him,

³⁸ That the saying of Esaias the Prophete might be fulfilled, that he sayd, Lord, who beleeued our report? and to whome is the arme of the Lord reueiled?

³⁹ Therefore could they not beleeue, because that Esaias saith againe,

⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they shoulde not see with their eyes, nor vnderstand with their heart, and should be conuerted, and I should heale them.

⁴¹ These things sayd Esaias when he sawe his glory, and spake of him.

⁴² Neuertheles, euen among the chiefe rulers, many beleeued in him: but because of the Pharises they did not confesse him, least they should be cast out of the Synagogue.

⁴³ For they loued the prayse of men, more then the prayse of God.

⁴⁶ I have come a light into the world, that whoever believeth in me may not remain in the darkness.

³⁴ “We,” replied the people, “have learnt from the Law that the Christ is to remain for ever; how is it, then, that you say that the Son of Man must be ‘lifted up’ Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

³⁵ “Only a little while longer,” answered Jesus, “will you have the light amongst you. Travel on while you have the light, so that darkness may not overtake you; he who travels in the darkness does not know where he is going.

³⁶ While you still have the light, believe in the light, so that you may be children of light.” After he had said this, Jesus went away, and hid himself from them.

³⁷ But, though Jesus had given so many signs of his mission before their eyes, they still did not believe in him,

³⁸ in fulfilment of the words of the prophet Isaiah, where he says — ‘Lord, who has believed our teaching? And to whom has the might of the Lord been revealed?’

³⁹ The reason why they were unable to believe is given by Isaiah elsewhere, in these words —

⁴⁰ ‘He has blinded their eyes, and blunted their mind, so that they should not see with their eyes, and perceive with their mind, and turn — And I should heal them.’

⁴¹ Isaiah said this, because he saw Christ's glory; and it was of him that he spoke.

⁴² Yet for all this, even amongst the leading men there were many who came to believe in Jesus; but, because of the Pharisees, they did not acknowledge it, because they were afraid that they should be expelled from their synagogues;

⁴³ for they valued honour from people more than honour from God.

⁴⁴ But Jesus had proclaimed, “He who believes in me believes, not in me, but in him who sent me;

⁴⁵ and he who sees me sees him who sent me.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, so that no one who believes in me should remain in the darkness.

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Yeshua Salvation said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

³⁸ that the word of Isaiah Salvation of Yah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, “ Adonai, who has believed our report? To has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?”

³⁹ For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah Salvation of Yah said again,

⁴⁰ “He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would make teshuvah ·completely return in repentance·, and I would heal them.”

⁴¹ Isaiah Salvation of Yah said these things when he saw his shekhinah ·manifest weighty glory and presence of God·, and spoke of him.

⁴² Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees Separated they didn’t confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue,

⁴³ for they had agapao ·total devotion love· for men’s praise more than God’s praise.

⁴⁴ Yeshua Salvation cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.

⁴⁵ He who sees me sees him who sent me.

³⁴ The people answered him: We have hearde of the lawe that Christ bydeth ever: and how sayest thou then that the sonne of man must be lifte vp? who is that sonne of man?

³⁵ Then Iesus sayde vnto them: yet a lytell whyle is the light with you. Walke whill ye have light lest the darcknes come on you. He that walketh in the darke wotteth not whither he goeth.

³⁶ Whyll ye have light beleve on the light that ye maye be the chyldren of light. These thinges spake Iesus and departed and hyd him silfe from them.

³⁷ And though he had done so many myracles before them yet beleved not they on him,

³⁸ that the sayinge of Esayas the Prophet myght be fulfilled that he spake. Lorde who shall beleve oure sayinge? And to whom ys the arme of the Lorde opened?

³⁹ Therfore coulde they not beleve because that Esaias sayth agayne:

⁴⁰ he hath blinded their eyes and hardened their hertes that they shuld not se with their eyes and vnderstonde with their hertes and shuld be converted and I shuld heale them.

⁴¹ Soche thinges sayde Esaias when he sawe his glory and spake of him.

⁴² Neverthelesse amonge the chefe rulers many beleved on him. But because of the pharises they wolde not be a knowen of it lest they shuld be excommunicate.

⁴³ For they loved the prayse that is geven of men more then the prayse that cometh of God.

⁴⁴ And Iesus cryed and sayde: he that beleveth on me beleveth not on me but on him that sent me.

⁴⁵ And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the worlde that whosoever beleveth on me shuld not byde in darcknes.

³⁴ The crowd answered him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ will stay forever. How can you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?”

³⁵ Jesus then said to them, “The light will still be with you for a short amount of time. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness does not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light so that you may be sons of light.” Jesus said these things and then departed and hid from them.

³⁷ Although Jesus had done so many signs before them, yet they did not believe in him

³⁸ so that the word of Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled, in which he said: “Lord, who has believed our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

³⁹ For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah had also said,

⁴⁶ I light came into the world, that each that believeth in me, dwell not in darknesses.

³⁴ And the people answered to him, We have heard of the law, that Christ dwelleth into without end; and how sayest thou, It behooveth man’s Son to be areared? Who is this man’s Son? (And the people said to him, We have heard in the Law, that the Messiah remaineth forever; so how sayest thou, It behooveth the Son of man to be raised up? Who is this Son of man?)

³⁵ And then Jesus saith to them, Yet a little light is in you; walk ye, the while ye have light, that (the) darkness(es) catch you not; he that wandereth in (the) darknesses, knoweth not whither he goeth. (And then Jesus said to them, Yet a little light is in you, or There is but a little light left to you; walk ye, the while ye have the light, so that the darkness catch you not; he who walketh, or who goeth, in the darkness, knoweth not where he goeth.)

³⁶ While ye have (the) light, believe ye in the light, (so) that ye be the children of (the) light. Jesus spake these things, and went, and hid him(self) from them.

³⁷ And when he had done so many miracles or so many signs before them, they believed not in him; (And though he had done so many miracles before them, they still did not believe in him;)

³⁸ that the word of Esaias, the prophet, should be fulfilled, which he said, Lord, who hath believed to our hearing, and to whom is the arm of the Lord showed? (so that the word of the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, when he said, Lord, who hath believed our message, and to whom is the Lord’s power shown or revealed?)

³⁹ Therefore they might not believe, for again Esaias said, (And so they could not believe, for again Isaiah said,)

⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hath made hard the heart(s) of them, (so) that they see not with (their) eyes, and understand not with (their) heart(s); and that they be converted, and I heal them.

⁴⁵ He that seeth me, seeth him that sent me.

⁴⁶ I (as a) light came into the world, that each that believeth in me, dwell not in (the) darknesses. (I came as a light into the world, so that everyone who believeth in me, remain not in darkness.)

³⁴ And the puple answeride to hym, We han herd of the lawe, that Crist dwellith with outen ende; and hou seist thou, It bihoueth mannys sone to be arerid?

³⁵ Who is this mannus sone? And thanne Jhesus seith to hem, Yit a litil liyt is in you; walke ye, the while ye han liyt, that derknessis catche you not; he that wandrith in derknessis, woot nere whidur he goith.

³⁶ While ye han liyt, bileue ye in liyt, that ye be the children of liyt. Jhesus spak these thingis, and wente, and hidde hym fro hem.

³⁷ And whanne he hadde don so many myraclis bifor hem, thei bileueden not `in to hym;

³⁸ that the word of Ysaie, the prophete, schulde be fulfillid, which he seide, Lord, who bileuede to oure heryng, and to whom is the arm of the Lord schewid?

³⁹ Therfor thei myyten not bileue, for eft Ysaye seide,

⁴⁰ He hath blyndid her iyen, and he hath maad hard the herte of hem, that thei se not with iyen, and vndurstonde with herte; and that thei be conuertid, and Y heele hem.

⁴¹ Ysaye seide these thingis, whanne he say the glorie of hym, and spak of hym.

⁴² Netheles `of the pryncis manye bileueden in hym, but for the Farisees thei knowlechiden not, that thei schulden not be put out of the synagoge;

⁴³ for thei loueden the glorie of men, more than the glorie of God.

⁴⁴ And Jhesus criede, and seide, He that bileueth in me, bileueth not in me, but in hym that sente me.

⁴⁵ He that seeth me, seeth hym that sente me.

⁴⁶ Y liyt cam in to the world, that ech that bileueth in me, dwelle not in derknessis.

³⁴ the multitude answered him, 'We heard out of the law that the Christ doth remain — to the age; and how dost thou say, That it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? who is this — the Son of Man?'

³⁵ Jesus, therefore, said to them, 'Yet a little time is the light with you; walk while ye have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness hath not known where he goeth;

³⁹ Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said,

⁴⁰ 'He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;'

⁴¹ these things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

⁴² Still, however, also out of the rulers did many believe in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue,

⁴³ for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.

⁴⁴ And Jesus cried and said, 'He who is believing in me, doth not believe in me, but in Him who sent me;

⁴⁵ and he who is beholding me, doth behold Him who sent me;

⁴⁶ I a light to the world have come, that every one who is believing in me — in the darkness may not remain;
