Romans 2:19-27 in American Standard Version (1901)

19 and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,
20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth;
21 thou therefore that teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples?
23 thou who gloriest in the law, through thy transgression of the law dishonorest thou God?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, even as it is written.
25 For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be a doer of the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.
26 If therefore the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision?
27 and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?
Romans 2 in American Standard Version (1901)

Romans 2:19-27 in King James (Authorized) Version

19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

Romans 2:19-27 in Translation for Translators

19 You are certain that you are able to show God's truth to non-Jews, as guides show the road to those who are blind MET. You are certain that by what you say you can show God's way to the non-Jews who do not understand it, as a light shows the way to those who walk in the darkness MET, DOU.
20 You are certain that you can instruct/correct non-Jews, whom you consider foolish because of their not understanding God's message. Because you have in God's laws a written expression of true knowledge HEN, you are certain that you can teach people who, being like children, do not know God's truth MET.
21 Since you claim that you have all these advantages because you are a Jew, ◄it is disgusting that you who teach other people that they should obey the laws God gave Moses do not obey the laws that you yourself teach!/why is it that you who teach other people that they should obey the laws God gave Moses do not obey the laws that you yourself teach?► RHQ You who preach that people should not steal things, it is disgusting that you yourself steal things! RHQ
22 You who command people not to have sexual relations with someone to whom they are not married, it is disgusting that you commit adultery yourself! RHQ You who detest idols, it is disgusting that you rob temples where people worship idols! RHQ
23 You who boast saying, “ I have God's laws,” it is disgusting that you disobey those same laws! RHQ As a result you are insulting God!
24 You must not be like our ancestors, about whom were written these words in the Scriptures: “The non-Jews speak evil about God because of the evil actions of many of you Jews.” The non-Jews say God must be a hypocrite if he condones the behavior of people like you.
25 Any one of you who is circumcised to show that he belongs to God can benefit from that if he obeys the laws God gave to Moses. But if you (sg), a circumcised person, disobey God's laws, God will consider that you who are circumcised are no better in God's sight than someone who is not circumcised.
26 This means that God will certainly consider that even non-Jews who are not circumcised can become his people if they obey the things that he commanded in his laws. RHQ
27 If any one of you disobeys God's laws, even though you(sg) have the Scriptures and even though someone has circumcised you {you are circumcised} God will punish you. And those people who are not circumcised, but who obey God's laws, will declare that God is right when he says that he will punish you.

Romans 2:19-27 in Bible in Basic English

19 In the belief that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those in the dark,
20 A teacher of the foolish, having in the law the form of knowledge and of what is true;
21 You who give teaching to others, do you give it to yourself? you who say that a man may not take what is not his, do you take what is not yours?
22 You who say that a man may not be untrue to his wife, are you true to yours? you who are a hater of images, do you do wrong to the house of God?
23 You who take pride in the law, are you doing wrong to the honour of God by behaviour which is against the law?
24 For the name of God is shamed among the Gentiles because of you, as it is said in the holy Writings.
25 It is true that circumcision is of use if you keep the law, but if you go against the law it is as if you had it not.
26 If those who have not circumcision keep the rules of the law, will it not be credited to them as circumcision?
27 And they, by their keeping of the law without circumcision, will be judges of you, by whom the law is broken though you have the letter of the law and circumcision.

Romans 2:19-27 in Darby Translation

19 and hast confidence that thou thyself art a leader of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness,
20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law:
21 thou then that teachest another, dost thou not teach thyself? thou that preachest not to steal, dost thou steal?
22 thou that sayest man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23 thou who boastest in law, dost thou by transgression of the law dishonour God?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed on your account among the nations, according as it is written.
25 For circumcision indeed profits if thou keep the law; but if thou be a law-transgressor, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.
26 If therefore the uncircumcision keep the requirements of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision,
27 and uncircumcision by nature, fulfilling the law, judge thee, who, with letter and circumcision, art a law-transgressor?
Romans 2 in Darby Translation

Romans 2:19-27 in Douay-Rheims 1899

19 Art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,
20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law.
21 Thou therefore that teachest another, teachest not thyself: thou that preachest that men should not steal, stealest:
22 Thou that sayest, men should not commit adultery, committest adultery: thou that abhorrest idols, committest sacrilege:
23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, by transgression of the law dishonourest God.
24 (For the name of God through you is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.)
25 Circumcision profiteth indeed, if thou keep the law; but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 If, then, the uncircumcised keep the justices of the law, shall not this uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 And shall not that which by nature is uncircumcision, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?
Romans 2 in Douay-Rheims 1899

Romans 2:19-27 in English Majority Text Version

19 and are convinced that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those in darkness,
20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?
22 You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege?
23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God through the transgression of the law?
24 For “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.
25 For indeed circumcision profits if you keep the law; but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
26 Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?
27 And will not the physically uncircumcised, who keeps the law, judge you along with your written code and circumcision, as a lawbreaker?
Romans 2 in English Majority Text Version

Romans 2:19-27 in The New Testament with Commentary

19 Further, you are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those in darkness,
20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and truth.
21 You then, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach not to steal, do you steal?
22 You who say not to commit adultery, do you adulterate? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
23 You who boast in the Law, do you dishonor God through the transgression of the Law?
24 For, just as it is written: “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
25 Now circumcision does have value if you keep the Law, but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
26 So if the uncircumcised keeps the righteous requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?
27 And will not the physically uncircumcised who fulfills the law judge you, complete with written code and circumcision, who are a transgressor of the Law?

Romans 2:19-27 in Free Bible Version

19 You're absolutely sure that you can guide the blind, and that you are a light to those in the dark.
20 You think you can set ignorant people straight, a teacher of “children,” because you know from the law all the truth there is to know.
21 So if you're busy teaching others, why don't you teach yourself? You tell people not to steal, but are you stealing?
22 You tell people not to commit adultery, but are you committing adultery? You tell people not to worship idols, but do you profane temples?
23 You boast about having the law, but don't you misrepresent God by breaking it?
24 As Scripture says, “God's character is defamed among the foreigners because of you.”
25 Being circumcised has value only if you do what the law says. But if you break the law, your circumcision is as worthless as those who are not circumcised at all.
26 If a man who is not circumcised keeps the law, he should be considered as being circumcised even though he's not.
27 The uncircumcised foreigners who keep the law will condemn you if you break the law, even though you have the written law and circumcision.

19 And persuadest thy selfe that thou art a guide of the blinde, a light of them which are in darkenesse,
20 An instructer of them which lacke discretion, a teacher of the vnlearned, which hast the forme of knowledge, and of the truth in ye Law.
21 Thou therefore, which teachest another, teachest thou not thy selfe? thou that preachest, A man should not steale, doest thou steale?
22 Thou that saist, A man should not commit adulterie, doest thou commit adulterie? thou that abhorrest idoles, committest thou sacrilege?
23 Thou that gloriest in the Lawe, through breaking the Lawe, dishonourest thou God?
24 For ye Name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
25 For circucision verely is profitable, if thou do the Lawe: but if thou be a transgressour of the Lawe, thy circumcision is made vncircumcision.
26 Therefore if the vncircumcision keepe the ordinances of the Lawe, shall not his vncircumcision be counted for circumcision?

19 and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
20 an instructor of those who lack wisdom, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of the truth in the Law,—
21 dost thou then who teachest another, not teach thyself? Thou who proclaimest that others should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 Dost thou who forbiddest to commit adultery, thyself commit adultery? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples?
23 Dost thou who boastest of the Law, dishonor God by breaking the Law?
24 For, as it is written, “the name of God is on your account blasphemed among the gentiles.”
25 For circumcision is indeed a benefit to thee, if thou keep the Law; but if thou art a breaker of the Law, thy circumcision hath become uncircumcision.
26 If then he who is uncircumcised keep the precepts of the Law, shall not he though uncircumcised be regarded as circumcised?
27 Yea, those who are by nature uncircumcised, if they perform the law, will judge thee, who having a written Law and circumcision, art a breaker of the Law.

19 Perhaps you are confident that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in the dark, an instructor of the unintelligent,
20 and a teacher of the childish, because in the Law you possess the outline of all knowledge and truth.
21 Why, then, you teacher of others, don't you teach yourself? Do you preach against stealing, and yet steal?
22 Do you forbid adultery, and yet commit adultery? Do you loathe idols, and yet plunder temples?
23 Boasting, as you do, of your Law, do you dishonour God by breaking the Law?
24 For, as scripture says — ‘The Gentiles insult God's name because of you’!
25 Circumcision has its value, if you are obeying the Law. But, if you are a breaker of the Law, your circumcision is no better than uncircumcision.
26 If, then, an uncircumcised man pays regard to the requirements of the Law, won't he, although not circumcised, be regarded by God as if he were?
27 Indeed, the person who, owing to his birth, remains uncircumcised, and yet scrupulously obeys the Law, will condemn you, who, for all your written Law and your circumcision, are yet a breaker of the Law.

26 If therefore the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won’t his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?
27 Won’t those who are physically uncircumcised, but fulfil the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?
Romans 2 in World Messianic Bible British Edition

Romans 2:19-27 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling

19 and trustest thyself to be a leader of blind men, the light of them that be in darknesses,
20 a teacher of unwise men, a master of young children, that hast the form of knowing or of science, and of truth in the law;
21 what then teachest thou another, and teachest not thyself? Thou that preachest that me/that men shall not steal, stealest? or Thou that preachest to not steal, stealest?
22 Thou that teachest that me/that men shall not do lechery, doest lechery? or Thou that sayest to not do lechery, doest lechery? Thou that loathest maumets or idols, doest sacrilege?
23 Thou that hast glory in the law, unworshippest God by breaking of the law?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed by you among heathen men, as it is written.
25 For circumcision profiteth, if thou keep the law; but if thou be a trespasser against the law, thy circumcision is made prepuce.
26 Therefore if prepuce keep the rightwiseness of the law, whether his prepuce shall not be areckoned into circumcision?
27 And the prepuce of kind that fulfilleth the law, shall deem thee, that by letter and circumcision art a trespasser against the law.

Romans 2:19-27 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

19 and trustest thyself to be a leader of blind men, the light of them that be in darknesses (or the light for those who be in darkness),
20 a teacher of unwise men, a master of young children (or a teacher of young children), that hast the form of cunning, (or of knowing), or of science, (or of knowledge), and of (the) truth in the law;
21 what then teachest thou another, and teachest not thyself? (or why then teachest thou someone else, but teachest not thyself?) Thou that preachest that me/that men shall not steal, stealest? or Thou that preachest to not steal, stealest?
22 Thou that teachest that me/that men shall not do lechery, doest lechery? or Thou that sayest to not do lechery, doest lechery? Thou that loathest maumets or idols, doest sacrilege? (Thou who teachest that me or that men shall not do adultery, doest adultery? Thou who loathest idols, doest sacrilege?)
23 Thou that hast glory in the law, unworshippest God by breaking of the law? (Thou who hast boasted about the Law, dishonourest God by breaking the Law?)
24 For the name of God is blasphemed by you among (the) heathen men, as it is written.
25 For circumcision profiteth, if thou keep the law; but if thou be a trespasser against the law, thy circumcision is made prepuce. (For circumcision profiteth, if thou keep the Law; but if thou be a trespasser against the Law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.)
26 Therefore if (the) prepuce (or the heathen men) keep the rightwiseness of the law, whether his prepuce shall not be areckoned into circumcision? (And so if the uncircumcised, or the Gentiles, keep the righteousness of the Law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned as circumcision?)
27 And the prepuce of kind that fulfilleth the law, shall deem thee, that by (the) letter and circumcision art a trespasser against the law. (And the uncircumcised, or the Gentiles, who by kind, or naturally, fulfill the Law, shall judge thee, who by the letter and thy circumcision art a trespasser against the Law.)

Romans 2:19-27 in Young's Literal Translation

19 and hast confidence that thou thyself art a leader of blind ones, a light of those in darkness,
20 an instructor of foolish ones, a teacher of babes, having the form of the knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 Thou, then, who art teaching another, thyself dost thou not teach?
22 thou who art preaching not to steal, dost thou steal? thou who art saying not to commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou who art abhorring the idols, dost thou rob temples?
23 thou who in the law dost boast, through the transgression of the law God dost thou dishonour?
24 for the name of God because of you is evil spoken of among the nations, according as it hath been written.
25 For circumcision, indeed, doth profit, if law thou mayest practise, but if a transgressor of law thou mayest be, thy circumcision hath become uncircumcision.
26 If, therefore the uncircumcision the righteousness of the law may keep, shall not his uncircumcision for circumcision be reckoned?
27 and the uncircumcision, by nature, fulfilling the law, shall judge thee who, through letter and circumcision, art a transgressor of law.
