¹⁷ Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them.

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the innocent.

¹⁹ For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I rejoice therefore over you: but I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple unto that which is evil.

²⁰ And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹⁹ For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

²⁰ And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

⁸ I also send my greetings to Ampliatus, who is a dear friend because of his relationship with the Lord.

⁹ I also send my greetings to Urbanus, who works for Christ with us, and to my dear friend Stachys.

¹⁰ I also send my greetings to Apelles, whom Christ has approved because Apelles successfully endured trials. Tell the believers who live in the house of Aristobulus that I send my greetings to them.

¹¹ Also tell Herodion, who is my fellow Jew, that I send my greetings to him. Tell the same thing to those who live in the house of Narcissus who belong to the Lord.

¹² Tell the same thing to Tryphaena and her sister Tryphosa, who work hard for the Lord. I also send my greetings to Persis. We all love her and she has worked very hard for the Lord.

¹³ Tell Rufus, who is an outstanding Christian, that I send my greetings to him. Tell the same thing to his mother, who has treated me as though I were her son MET.

¹⁴ Tell Asyncritus and Phlegon and Hermes and Patrobas and Hermas and the fellow believers who meet with them that I am sending my greetings to them.

¹⁵ I also send my greetings to Philologus, to his wife Julia (OR, his sister Julia), to Nereus and his sister, and to Olympas, and to all God's people who meet with them.

¹⁶ Greet one another affectionately, but in a pure way, when you gather together. The believers in all the Christian congregations HYP in this area ◄send their greetings to/say they are thinking fondly of► you.

¹⁷ My fellow believers, I exhort you that you beware of those people who are causing divisions among you and who cause people to turn away from God MTY because they teach things that are contrary to the message about Christ that you have learned (OR, that others taught you). Keep away from such people!

¹⁸ They do not serve our Lord Christ! On the contrary, they only want to satisfy their own desires MTY! Also, by all the eloquent things that they say DOU they deceive those people who do not realize that their teaching is false.

¹⁹ Believers everywhere know that you have paid attention to the good message about Christ, with the result that I rejoice about you. But I also want you to be wise, with the result that you do what is good. I also want you to avoid doing what is evil.

²⁰ If you avoid people who teach what is false, what will soon happen MET will be as though God, who causes us to be peaceful, will be crushing Satan under your feet! I pray that our Lord Jesus will continue to act kindly towards you.

²¹ Timothy, who works with me, and Lucius and Jason and Sosipater, who are my fellow Jews, want you to know that they are ◄sending their greetings to/thinking fondly of► you.

¹⁸ For such people are not servants of the Lord Christ, but of their stomachs; and by their smooth and well-said words the hearts of those who have no knowledge of evil are tricked.

¹⁹ For all have knowledge of how you do what you are ordered. For this reason I have joy in you, but it is my desire that you may be wise in what is good, and without knowledge of evil.

²⁰ And the God of peace will be crushing Satan under your feet before long. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

¹⁷ Now I'm pleading with you my fellow-believers: watch out for those who cause arguments and confuse people about the teachings you learned. Stay away from them!

¹⁸ These people are not serving Christ our Lord but their own appetites, and by their smooth-talking and pleasant words they deceive the minds of unsuspecting people.

¹⁹ Everyone knows how faithful you are. This makes me really happy. However, I want you to be wise about what's good, and innocent of anything bad.

²⁰ The God of peace will soon break the power of Satan and make him subject to you. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

¹⁷ Listen, my friends. I tell you this really straight. You’ve got to be really careful about people that make you split up and argue with each other. Remember that you heard the true message about Jesus Christ and you learned to follow his road, but there are some people that want you to leave that road and go another way. They tell you a different story. That is the way they make you argue with each other. So don’t listen to them. Keep away from them.

¹⁸ They don’t work for our leader, Jesus Christ, but they just work for themselves. They try to trick people. They talk really nice to people and tell them that they are good. They do this to get whatever they want for themselves. They trick the people that don’t wake up to them.

¹⁹ But don’t let them trick you. Everyone knows that you do whatever God wants, so I’m happy about you. But I also want to tell you to be careful. I want you to understand the things that are good, and don’t even think about doing the things that are bad.

²⁰ God is the one that makes us good and quiet inside ourselves. He will soon beat the boss of the devils, called Satan. You will win, and Satan will have to lie down under your feet. I ask our leader, Jesus, to be really good to you.
