Romans 12:2-8 in English

² And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

³ For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but so to think as to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to each man a measure of faith.

⁴ For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office:

⁵ so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another.

⁶ And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;

⁷ or ministry, let us give ourselves to our ministry; or he that teacheth, to his teaching;

⁸ or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.

² Do not let anything non-Christian determine how you should act. Instead, let God change your way of life by making your way of thinking new, in order that you may know what he wants you to do. That is, you will know what is good, and you will know what pleases God, and you will know how to be all that he wants you to be.

³ Because God has kindly appointed me to be his apostle, which I did not deserve, I say this to every one of you: Do not think about yourselves more highly than what is right for you to think! Instead, think about yourselves in a sensible way that corresponds to the abilities that God has given you because you trust in Christ.

⁴ Although a person has one body, it consists of many parts. All of the parts are needed for the body, but they do not all function the same way.

⁵ Similarly we, although we are many, are united into one group because of our relationship with Christ, and we belong to one another. So no one should act as though he is needed by God more than others are!

⁶ Instead, since each one of us can do various things that differ according to the abilities that God has given to us, we should do them diligently and cheerfully! Those whom God has enabled to speak messages from him should speak what corresponds to what they believe God told them.

⁷ Those whom God has enabled to serve others should do that. Those whom God has enabled to teach his truth should do that.

⁸ Those whom God has enabled to encourage/exhort his people should do that. Those who share their goods/money with others should do it sincerely/generously. Those who lead the congregation should do it wholeheartedly. Those who help the needy should do it cheerfully.

² And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God.

³ But I say to every one of you, through the grace given to me, not to have an over-high opinion of himself, but to have wise thoughts, as God has given to every one a measure of faith.

⁴ For, as we have a number of parts in one body, but all the parts have not the same use,

⁵ So we, though we are a number of persons, are one body in Christ, and are dependent on one another;

⁶ And having different qualities by reason of the grace given to us, such as the quality of a prophet, let it be made use of in relation to the measure of our faith;

⁷ Or the position of a Deacon of the church, let a man give himself to it; or he who has the power of teaching, let him make use of it;

⁸ He who has the power of comforting, let him do so; he who gives, let him give freely; he who has the power of ruling, let him do it with a serious mind; he who has mercy on others, let it be with joy.

² And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

³ For I say, through the grace which has been given to me, to every one that is among you, not to have high thoughts above what he should think; but to think so as to be wise, as God has dealt to each a measure of faith.

⁴ For, as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office;

⁵ thus we, being many, are one body in Christ, and each one members one of the other.

⁶ But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether it be prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

⁷ or service, let us occupy ourselves in service; or he that teaches, in teaching;

⁸ or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness.

² And be not conformed to this world; but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, and the acceptable, and the perfect will of God.

³ For I say, by the grace that is given me, to all that are among you, not to be more wise than it behoveth to be wise, but to be wise unto sobriety, and according as God hath divided to every one the measure of faith.

⁴ For as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office:

⁵ So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

⁶ And having different gifts, according to the grace that is given us, either prophecy, to be used according to the rule of faith;

⁷ Or ministry, in ministering; or he that teacheth, in doctrine;

⁸ He that exhorteth, in exhorting; he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with carefulness; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

² And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

³ For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself too highly, beyond what you should think, but to think soberly, as God has imparted to each one a measure of faith.

⁴ For just as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,

⁵ so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace having been given to us, let us use them: whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

⁷ whether ministry, let us use it in our ministry; whether teaching; in the teaching;

⁸ whether exhorting, in the exhortation; whether sharing, with simplicity; whether leading, with diligence; whether showing mercy, with cheerfulness.

² Yes, stop conforming to the pattern of this world; rather, be transformed by the renewing of your mind so as to be able to experience the good and satisfying and perfect will of God.

³ Based on the grace given to me, I say to everyone among you not to set your sights higher than you should, but set them sensibly, as God has apportioned a measure of faith to each.

⁴ Because just as in one body we have many parts, but all the parts do not have the same function,

⁵ so we, who are many, are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.

⁶ Since we have different spiritual gifts according to the grace that was given us, let us use them: if prophecy, according to the analogy of the Faith;

⁷ if serving, in the serving; if teaching, in the teaching;

⁸ if exhorting, in the exhortation; the sharer, with simplicity; the leader, with diligence; the mercy-shower, with cheerfulness.

² Don't follow the ways of this world; instead be transformed by the spiritual renewal of your mind so you can demonstrate what God's will really is—good, pleasing, and perfect.

³ Let me explain to all of you, through the grace given to me, that no one should think of themselves better than they ought to. You should think about yourselves realistically, according to the degree of trust God has shared with you.

⁴ Just as there are many parts to the body, but they don't all do the same thing,

⁵ so we are one body in Christ, even though we are many—and we all belong to one another.

⁶ We each have different gifts that vary according to the grace given to us. So if it's speaking for God, then you should do so depending on how much you trust in God.

⁷ If it's the ministry of service then you should serve; if teaching then you should teach;

⁸ if encouragement then you should encourage; if giving then you should give generously; if leadership then you should lead with commitment; if being merciful then you should do so gladly.

³ For I say through the grace that is giuen vnto me, to euery one that is among you, that no man presume to vnderstande aboue that which is meete to vnderstand, but that he vnderstande according to sobrietie, as God hath dealt to euery man the measure of faith.

⁶ Seeing then that we haue gifts that are diuers, according to the grace that is giuen vnto vs, whether we haue prophecie, let vs prophecie according to the portion of faith:

⁷ Or an office, let vs waite on the office: or he that teacheth, on teaching:

⁸ Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that distributeth, let him doe it with simplicitie: he that ruleth, with diligence: he that sheweth mercie, with cheerefulnesse.

⁷ or if service, let us attend to the service; he that teacheth, let him attend to teaching;

⁸ or he that exhorteth, to exhortation; he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that presideth over others, with diligence; he that doeth deeds of mercy, with cheerfulness.

² Do not conform to the fashion of this world; but be transformed by the complete change that has come over your minds, so that you may discern what God's will is — all that is good, acceptable, and perfect.

³ In fulfilment of the charge with which I have been entrusted, I tell every one of you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think, but to think until he learns to think soberly — in accordance with the measure of faith that God has allotted to each.

⁴ For, just as in the human body there is a union of many parts, and each part has its own function,

⁵ so we, by our union in Christ, many though we are, form but one body, and individually we are related one to another as its parts.

⁶ Since our gifts differ in accordance with the particular charge entrusted to us, if our gift is to preach, let our preaching correspond to our faith;

⁷ if it is to minister to others, let us devote ourselves to our ministry; the teacher to their teaching,

⁸ the counsellor to their counsel. Let the person who gives in charity do so with a generous heart; let the person who is in authority exercise due diligence; let the person who shows kindness do so in a cheerful spirit.

² Don’t be like most of the people in the world that like to do bad things. You have to be different from them. You have to let God change the way you think so that you will become new people. Then you will be able to find out the things that God wants you to do, and you will know what is good and the things that really make God happy.

³ God wants me tell you this and he helps me to say it. Don’t think that you are better than you really are, but think properly about yourself. God himself makes it possible for you to believe in him, so think about how much you trust him. That is the important thing.

⁴ I will use the human body as a picture of Christians. You know that we each have a body, but that body has a lot of different parts. Each part has its own job to do. But the parts all belong to that one body, so they all belong to each other.

⁵ Well, this is a picture of us, God’s people. We all belong to Jesus Christ and it is just like each of us is a part of his body. Each of us has our own job to do. We all belong to Jesus so we all belong to each other.

⁶ God is good to us and gives each of us the power to do something properly. So if God gave you the power to tell his message to people, well you have to do this whenever you believe he has a message for you to tell.

⁷ Or maybe God gave you the power to help other people, well this is the thing that you have to do. Or if God gave you the power to teach other people, well this is the thing that he wants you to do.

⁸ Or maybe God gave you the power to cheer people up, well this is your job. Or maybe he gave you the power to share your money and things with other people, well he wants you to share it with people that need things. Or maybe God gave you the power to be a leader, well you have to try to lead people properly. Or if God gave you the power to feel sorry for people that have troubles, and the power to be good to them, well this is his job for you, so be happy while you do it.

² And fassion not youre selves lyke vnto this worlde: But be ye chaunged in youre shape by the renuynge of youre wittes that ye maye fele what thynge that good that acceptable and perfaycte will of god is.

³ For I saye (thorowe the grace that vnto me geve is) to every man amonge you that noman esteme of him selfe moare then it becometh him to esteme: but that he discretely iudge of him selfe accordynge as God hath dealte to every man the measure of fayth.

⁴ As we have many members in one body and all members have not one office:

⁵ so we beynge many are one body in Christ and every man (amonge oure selves) one anothers members

⁶ Seynge that we have dyvers gyftes accordynge to the grace that is geven vnto vs: yf eny man have the gyft of prophesye let him have it that it be agreynge vnto the fayth.

⁷ Let him that hath an office wayte on his office. Let him that teacheth take hede to his doctrine.

⁸ Let him that exhorteth geve attendaunce to his exhortacion. Yf eny man geve let him do it with singlenes. Let him that ruleth do it with diligence. Yf eny man shewe mercy let him do it with cherfulnes.

⁵ so we many be one body in Christ, and each be members one of another.

⁶ Therefore we that have gifts diversing, after the grace that is given to us, either prophecy, after the reason of faith;

⁷ either service or ministry, in ministering; either he that teacheth, in teaching;

⁸ he that stirreth softly, in admonishing or in exhortation; he that giveth, in simpleness; he that is sovereign, or is prelate, or is before, in busyness; he that hath mercy, in gladness.

² And do not ye be conformed to this world, but be ye reformed in (the) newness of your wit, that ye prove which is the will of God, (or but be ye reformed in the renewing of your mind, or in your thinking, so that ye prove what is the will of God), good, and well pleasing, and perfect.

³ For I say, by the grace that is given to me, to all that be among you, that ye understand not more than it behooveth to understand, but for to understand to soberness, or to not savour, or know, more than it behooveth to know, but to know to soberness; and to each man, as God hath parted the measure of faith.

⁴ For as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same deed or the same act;

⁵ so we many be one body in Christ, and each be members one of another. (so we many bodies be but one body in the Messiah, and each of us be members of one another.)

⁷ either service or ministry, in ministering; either he that teacheth, in teaching;

³ For I say, through the grace that was given to me, to every one who is among you, not to think above what it behoveth to think; but to think so as to think wisely, as to each God did deal a measure of faith,

⁴ for as in one body we have many members, and all the members have not the same office,

⁵ so we, the many, one body are in Christ, and members each one of one another.

⁶ And having gifts, different according to the grace that was given to us; whether prophecy — 'According to the proportion of faith!'

⁷ or ministration — 'In the ministration!' or he who is teaching — 'In the teaching!'

⁸ or he who is exhorting — 'In the exhortation!' he who is sharing — 'In simplicity!' he who is leading — 'In diligence?' he who is doing kindness — 'In cheerfulness.'
