Proverbs 29:2-7 in English

² When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.

³ Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth his substance.

⁴ The king by justice establisheth the land; But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.

⁵ A man that flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his steps.

⁶ In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

⁷ The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; The wicked hath not understanding to know it.

⁴ When a king rules justly/fairly, he causes his nation to be strong, but a king who is concerned only with getting more money from the people ruins his nation.

⁵ Those who ◄flatter others/say nice things to others merely to cause them to feel good► are really setting a trap for them (OR, for themselves) SYN.

⁶ Evil people will be trapped by the sins that they commit, but righteous/honest people will sing and be joyful/happy.

⁷ Righteous/Good people know that poor people should be treated fairly/justly, but wicked people ◄are not concerned about/do not pay attention to► those matters at all.

⁵ A man who says smooth things to his neighbour is stretching out a net for his steps.

⁶ In the steps of an evil man there is a net for him, but the upright man gets away quickly and is glad.

⁷ The upright man gives attention to the cause of the poor: the evil-doer gives no thought to it.

⁶ A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.

⁷ The just taketh notice of the cause of the poor: the wicked is void of knowledge.

² When good people are in charge, everybody celebrates; but when the wicked rule, everybody groans.

³ A man who loves wisdom makes his father happy, but one who visits prostitutes throws away his money.

⁴ A king who rules justly makes the country secure, but one who asks for bribes will destroy it.

⁵ Those who flatter their friends lay a net to trip them up.

⁶ Evil people are trapped by their own sins, but those who do right sing and celebrate.

⁷ Good people care about treating the poor fairly, but the wicked don't think about it at all.

⁴ A just king raiseth up the land; an avaricious man shall destroy it.

⁵ A man that speaketh by flattering and feigned words to his friend, spreadeth abroad a net to his steps.

⁶ A snare shall wrap a wicked man doing sin; and a just or rightwise man shall praise, and make joy.

⁷ A just or rightwise man knoweth the cause of poor men; and an unpious man knoweth not knowing.

³ A man that loveth wisdom, maketh glad his father; but he that nourisheth a strumpet, shall lose his chattel. (A man who loveth wisdom, maketh his father glad; but he who feedeth a whore, shall lose his possessions.)

⁴ A just king raiseth up the land; an avaricious man shall destroy it.

⁶ A snare shall wrap a wicked man doing sin; and a just man shall praise, and make joy. (A snare shall enwrap the wicked doing sin; but the righteous shall give praise, and make joy in their lives.)

⁷ A just man knoweth the cause of poor men; and an unpious man knoweth not knowing. (The righteous know of the concerns of the poor; but the wicked do not care to know.)

² In the multiplying of the righteous the people rejoice, And in the ruling of the wicked the people sigh.

³ A man loving wisdom rejoiceth his father, And a friend of harlots destroyeth wealth.

⁴ A king by judgment establisheth a land, And one receiving gifts throweth it down.

⁵ A man taking a portion above his neighbour, Spreadeth a net for his own steps.

⁶ In the transgression of the evil is a snare, And the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

⁷ The righteous knoweth the plea of the poor, The wicked understandeth not knowledge.
