⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Blessed be every one that blesseth thee, And cursed be every one that curseth thee.

¹⁰ And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

¹¹ Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honor; but, lo, Jehovah hath kept thee back from honor.

¹² And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers that thou sentest unto me, saying,

¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; what Jehovah speaketh, that will I speak?

¹⁴ And now, behold, I go unto my people: come, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, And the man whose eye was closed saith;

⁹ He lay down, he rested as a lion, and as a young lion; who shall stir him up? they that bless thee are blessed, and they that curse thee are cursed.

¹⁰ And Balac was angry with Balaam, and clapped his hands together; and Balac said to Balaam, I called thee to curse my enemy, and behold thou hast decidedly blessed him this third time.

¹¹ Now therefore flee to thy place: I said, I will honour thee, but now the Lord has deprived thee of glory.

¹² And Balaam said to Balac, Did I not speak to thy messengers also whom thou sentest to me, saying,

¹³ If Balac should give me his house full of silver and gold, I shall not be able to transgress the word of the Lord to make it good or bad by myself; whatsoever things God shall say, them will I speak.

¹⁴ And now, behold, I return to my place; come, I will advise thee of what this people shall do to thy people in the last days.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable and said, Balaam the son of Beor says, the man who sees truly says,

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

¹⁰ And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

¹⁰ And Balac was angry with Balaam, and clapped his hands together; and Balac said to Balaam, I called you to curse my enemy, and behold you have decidedly blessed him this third time.

¹¹ Now therefore flee to your place: I said, I will honor you, but now the Lord has deprived you of glory.

¹² And Balaam said to Balac, Did I not speak to your messengers also whom you sent to me, saying,

¹³ If Balac should give me his house full of silver and gold, I shall not be able to transgress the word of the Lord to make it good or bad by myself; whatever things God shall say, them will I speak.

¹⁴ And now, behold, I return to my place; come, I will advise you of what this people shall do to your people in the last days.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, And the man whose eye was closed saith:

⁹ The Israelis are like lions that crouch and lie down, ready to pounce on their prey SIM. They are like lionesses that are resting, but ready to attack; no one RHQ would dare to arouse them! God will bless everyone who blesses you Israelis, and he will curse everyone who curses you.”

¹⁰ Then King Balak was extremely angry with Balaam. He showed with his hands that he was very angry, and he shouted at Balaam, “I summoned you here to curse my enemies! Instead, you have ◄blessed/asked God to bless► them three times!

¹¹ So now, get out of here! Go back home! I said that I would pay you a lot of money if you cursed them, but Yahweh has prevented you from getting any pay!”

¹² Balaam said to Balak, “ Do you not remember RHQ what I told the messengers that you sent to me? I said,

¹³ ‘Even if Balak would give me a palace filled with silver and gold, I would not disobey Yahweh. I cannot do anything bad or anything that is good that he does not approve of.’ And I told you that I could say only what Yahweh says to me.

¹⁴ So yes, I will return to my people, but first, allow me to tell you what will happen to you Moab people in the future.”

¹⁵ So Balaam said this to Balak: “I, Balaam, son of Beor, am again giving a prophecy, speaking as a man who sees what will happen in the future clearly speaks.

⁹ He lay down, he rested as a lion, and as a young lion; who shall stir him up? they that bless you are blessed, and they that curse you are cursed.

¹⁰ And Balac was angry with Balaam, and clapped his hands together; and Balac said to Balaam, I called you to curse my enemy, and behold you have decidedly blessed him this third time.

¹¹ Now therefore flee to your place: I said, I will honour you, but now the Lord has deprived you of glory.

¹² Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,

¹⁴ Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”

¹⁰ Balak’s anger burnt against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.

¹¹ Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honour; but, behold, the LORD has kept you back from honour.”

¹² Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,

¹³ ‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the LORD’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what the LORD says’?

¹⁴ Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”

¹⁵ He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;

⁹ He took his sleep stretched out like a lion, and like a she-lion: by whom will his rest be broken? May a blessing be on everyone who gives you blessing, and a curse on everyone by whom you are cursed.

¹⁰ Then Balak was full of wrath against Balaam, and angrily waving his hands he said to Balaam, I sent for you so that those who are against me might be cursed, but now, see, three times you have given them a blessing.

¹¹ Go back quickly to the place you came from: it was my purpose to give you a place of honour, but now the Lord has kept you back from honour.

¹² Then Balaam said to Balak, Did I not say to the men you sent to me,

¹³ Even if Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, it would not be possible for me to go outside the orders of the Lord, doing good or evil at the impulse of my mind; whatever the Lord says I will say?

¹⁴ So now I will go back to my people: but first let me make clear to you what this people will do to your people in days to come.

¹⁵ Then he went on with his story and said, These are the words of Balaam, the son of Beor, the words of him whose eyes are open:

⁹ He stooped, he lay down like a lion, and like a lioness: who will stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

¹⁰ Then Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times!

¹¹ And now flee thou to thy place; I said I would very highly honour thee, and behold, Jehovah has kept thee back from honour.

¹² And Balaam said to Balak, Did I not also speak to thy messengers whom thou sentest to me, saying,

¹³ If Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the commandment of Jehovah to do good or bad out of my heart: what Jehovah shall say, that will I speak?

¹⁴ And now behold, I go to my people: come, I will admonish thee what this people will do to thy people at the end of days.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,

⁹ Lying down he hath slept as a lion, and as a lioness, whom none shall dare to rouse. He that blesseth thee, shall also himself be blessed: he that curseth thee shall be reckoned accursed.

¹⁰ And Balac being angry against Balaam, clapped his hands together and said: I called thee to curse my enemies, and thou on the contrary hast blessed them three times.

¹¹ Return to thy place. I had determined indeed greatly to honour thee, but the Lord hath deprived thee of the honour designed for thee.

¹² Balaam made answer to Balac: Did I not say to thy messengers, whom thou sentest to me:

¹³ If Balac would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to utter any thing of my own head either good or evil: but whatsoever the Lord shall say, that I will speak?

¹⁴ But yet going to my people, I will give thee counsel, what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

¹⁵ Therefore taking up his parable, again he said: Balaam the son of Beor hath said: The man whose eye is stopped up, hath said:

⁹ They are like a lion that crouches and lies down. They are like a lioness that nobody dares to disturb. Those who bless you will be blessed; those who curse you will be cursed.”

¹⁰ Balak got angry with Balaam, and beat his fists together. He told Balaam, “I brought you here to curse my enemies, and now look! You keep on blessing them, doing it three times.

¹¹ Leave right now! Go home! I promised to pay you well, but the Lord has made sure you wouldn't receive any payment.”

¹² But Balaam said to Balak, “Didn't I already explain to the messengers you sent

¹³ that even if you gave me your whole palace full of silver and gold, I couldn't do anything I wanted or disobey the command of the Lord my God in any way? I can only say what the Lord tells me.

¹⁴ Listen! I'm going back home now to my own people, but first let me warn you what these Israelites are going to do to your people in the future.”

¹⁵ Then Balaam gave a declaration, saying, “This is the prophecy of Balaam, son of Beor, the prophecy of a man whose eyes are wide open

⁹ He coucheth and lieth downe as a yong lion, and as a lion: who shall stirre him vp? blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

¹⁰ Then Balak was very angry with Balaam, and smote his handes together: so Balak sayde vnto Balaam, I sent for thee to curse mine enemies, and beholde, thou hast blessed them nowe three times.

¹¹ Therefore nowe flee vnto thy place: I thought surely to promote thee vnto honour, but loe, the Lord hath kept thee backe from honour.

¹² Then Balaam answered Balak, Tolde I not also thy messengers, which thou sentest vnto me, saying,

¹³ If Balak would giue me his house ful of siluer and gold, I can not passe the commandement of the Lord, to doe either good or bad of mine owne minde? what the Lord shall commaund, the same will I speake.

¹⁴ And nowe behold, I goe vnto my people: come, I will aduertise thee what this people shall doe to thy folke in the later dayes.

¹⁵ And he vttered his parable, and sayd, Balaam the sonne of Beor hath sayde, and the man whose eyes were shut vp, hath sayd,

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Blessed be every one that blesseth thee, and cursed be every one that curseth thee.

¹⁰ And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said unto Balaam: 'I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

¹¹ Therefore now flee thou to thy place; I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.'

¹² And Balaam said unto Balak: 'Spoke I not also to thy messengers that thou didst send unto me, saying:

¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; what the LORD speaketh, that will I speak?

¹⁴ And now, behold, I go unto my people; come, and I will announce to thee what this people shall do to thy people in the end of days.'

¹⁵ And he took up his parable, and said: The saying of Balaam the son of Beor, and the saying of the man whose eye is opened;

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, And as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, And cursed is he that curseth thee.

¹⁰ And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

¹¹ Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.

¹⁰ And the anger of Balak was kindled against Bil'am, and he struck his hands together: and Balak said unto Bil'am, To denounce my enemies did I call thee, and, behold, thou hast even blessed them these three times.

¹¹ And now flee thou to thy place: I thought to honor thee greatly; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honor.

¹² And Bil'am said unto Balak, Did I not already speak to thy messengers, whom thou sentest unto me, saying,

¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not transgress the order of the Lord, to do good or evil out of my own heart: what the Lord will speak, that must I speak?

¹⁴ And now, behold, I am going unto my people: come, I will advise thee against what this people will do to thy people in the end of days.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable and said, Thus saith Bil'am the son of Beor, and thus saith the man whose eyes are open;

⁹ He lay down, he rested as a lion, and as a young lion; Who shall stir him up? They that bless thee are blessed, And they that curse thee are cursed.

¹⁰ And Balak was angry with Balaam, and clapped his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse my enemy, and behold thou hast decidedly blessed him this third time.

¹¹ Now therefore flee to thy place: I said, I will honor thee, but now the Lord has deprived thee of glory.

⁹ He reposed in his strength, as the lion and the lioness, And no kingdom may commove him. They who bless thee shall be blessed, And they who curse thee be accursed.

¹⁰ And the anger of Balak was roused against Bileam, and he smote his hands together. And Balak said to Bileam, I called thee to curse my enemies, and, behold, blessing hast thou blessed them these three times!

¹¹ And now go to thy place. I said, Honouring I would honour thee; but, behold, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.

¹² But Bileam said to Balak, Did I not also tell the messengers whom thou sentest to me, saying,

¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I have no power to transgress the decree of the Word of the Lord, to do good or evil of my own will; whatsoever the Lord shall sat that will I speak?

¹⁴ And now, behold, I go unto my people. Come, I will give thee counsel what thou shouldst do; and will show thee what this people will do unto thy people at the end of the days.

¹⁵ And he took up his parable, and said: Bileam, the son of Beor, speaketh, The man who saw the Beautiful speaketh,

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”

¹⁰ Balak’s anger burned against Balaam Not people, Destroyer of people, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam Not people, Destroyer of people, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.

¹¹ Therefore now flee you to your place! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, Adonai has kept you back from honor.”

¹² Balaam Not people, Destroyer of people said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers who you sent to me, saying,

¹³ ‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond Adonai ’s word, to do either good or bad of my own mind. I will say what Adonai says’? (LY:7)

¹⁴ Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”

¹⁵ He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam Not people, Destroyer of people the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;

⁹ He crouches down like a lion, like a lioness. Who dares disturb him? May everyone who blesses him be blessed; may everyone who curses him be cursed.”

¹⁰ Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam and he struck his hands together in anger. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, but look, you have blessed them three times.

¹¹ So leave me right now and go home. I said I would greatly reward you, but Yahweh has kept you from getting any reward.”

¹² Then Balaam replied to Balak, “I said to the messengers that you sent to me,

¹³ 'Even if Balak gave me his palace full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond Yahweh's word and anything bad or good, or anything at all that I might want to do. I can say only what Yahweh tells me to say.' Did I not say this to them?

¹⁴ So now, look, I will go back to my people. But first let me warn you what this people will do to your people in the days ahead.”

¹⁵ Balaam began this prophecy. He said, “Balaam son of Beor speaks, The man whose eyes are wide open.

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”

¹⁰ Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.

¹¹ Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, the LORD has kept you back from honor.”

¹² Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,

¹³ ‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the LORD’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what the LORD says’?

¹⁴ Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”

¹⁵ He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”

⁹ He rested, and slept as a lion, and as a lioness, whom no man shall dare raise. He that blesseth thee, shall be blessed; and he that curseth, shall be areckoned into cursing.

¹⁰ And Balak was wroth against Balaam, and he said, when his hands were wrung together, I called thee to curse mine enemies, whom, on the contrary, thou hast blessed thrice.

¹¹ Turn again to thy place; forsooth I deemed to honour thee greatly, but the Lord deprived thee from thine honour disposed.

¹² Balaam answered to Balak, Whether I said not to thy messengers, which thou sentest to me,

¹³ Though Balak shall give to me his house full of silver and of gold, I shall not be able to pass over the word of my Lord God, that I bring forth of mine heart anything, either of good or of evil, but whatever thing the Lord shall say, I shall speak that?

¹⁴ Nevertheless I shall go to my people, and I shall give counsel to thee, what thy people shall do in the last time to this people.

¹⁵ Therefore when a parable was taken, he said again, Balaam, the son of Beor said, a man, whose eye is stopped, said,

⁹ He rested, and slept as a lion, and as a lioness, whom no man shall dare raise. He that blesseth thee, shall be blessed; and he that curseth, shall be areckoned into cursing. (He rested, and slept like a lion, and like a lioness, whom no man shall dare raise up. He who blesseth thee, shall be blessed; and he who curseth thee, shall be cursed.)

¹⁰ And Balak was wroth against Balaam, and he said, when his hands were wrung together, I called thee to curse mine enemies, whom, on the contrary, thou hast blessed thrice, (or but who, instead, thou hast now blessed three times!).

¹¹ Turn again to thy place; forsooth I deemed to honour thee greatly, but the Lord deprived thee from thine honour (that was) disposed. (Return to thy place; I had intended to greatly reward thee, but the Lord hath now deprived thee of the reward which I had ordained for thee.)

¹² Balaam answered to Balak, Whether I said not to thy messengers, which thou sentest to me, (Balaam answered to Balak, Did I not say to thy messengers, whom thou sentest to me,)

¹³ Though Balak shall give to me his house full of silver and of gold, I shall not be able to pass over the word of my Lord God, that I bring forth of mine heart anything, either of good or of evil, but whatever thing the Lord shall say, I shall speak that? (Even if Balak shall give me all the gold and silver in his house, I shall not change the word of the Lord my God, so that I bring forth something out of my own heart, either good or bad, no, but whatever thing the Lord shall say, that I shall speak?)

¹⁴ Nevertheless I shall go to my people, and I shall give counsel to thee, what thy people shall do in the last time to this people. (Nevertheless, I shall now return to my people, but first I shall give thee counsel, what these people shall do to thy people in the days to come.)

¹⁵ Therefore when a parable was taken (or And so when he had received his prophecy), he said again, Balaam, the son of Beor, said, (yea), a man, whose eye is stopped, said,

⁹ He restide and slepte as a lyoun, and as a lionesse, whom no man schal dore reise. He that blessith thee, schal be blessid; he that cursith, schal

¹⁰ be arettid in to cursyng And Balaach was wrooth ayens Balaam, and seide, whanne the hondis weren wrungun to gidere, I clepide thee to curse myn enemyes, whiche ayenward thou hast blessid thries.

¹¹ Turne ayen to thi place; forsothe Y demede to onoure thee greetli, but the Lord priuyde thee fro onour disposid.

¹² Balaam answeride to Balaach, Whethir Y seide not to thi messangeris, whiche thou sentist to me,

¹³ Thouy Balaach schal yyue to me his hows ful of siluer and of gold, Y schal not mow passe the word of my Lord God, that Y brynge forth of myn herte ony thing, ethir of good ethir of yuel, but what euer thing the Lord schal seie, Y schal speke this?

¹⁴ Netheles Y schal go to my puple, and Y schal yyue counsel to thee, what thi puple schal do in the laste tyme to this puple.

¹⁵ Therfor whanne a parable was takun, he seide eft, Balaam, the sone of Beor seide, a man whos iye is stoppid,

⁹ He hath bent, he hath lain down as a lion, And as a lioness: who doth raise him up? He who is blessing thee is blessed, And he who is cursing thee is cursed.'

¹⁰ And the anger of Balak burneth against Balaam, and he striketh his hands; and Balak saith unto Balaam, 'To pierce mine enemies I called thee, and lo, thou hast certainly blessed — these three times;

¹¹ and now, flee for thyself unto thy place; I have said, I do greatly honour thee, and lo, Jehovah hath kept thee back from honour.'

¹² And Balaam saith unto Balak, 'Did I not also unto thy messengers whom thou hast sent unto me, speak, saying,

¹³ If Balak doth give to me the fulness of his house of silver and gold, I am not able to pass over the command of Jehovah, to do good or evil of mine own heart — that which Jehovah speaketh — it I speak?

¹⁴ and, now, lo, I am going to my people; come, I counsel thee concerning that which this people doth to thy people, in the latter end of the days.'

¹⁵ And he taketh up his simile, and saith: 'An affirmation of Balaam son of Beor — And an affirmation of the man whose eyes are shut —
