¹ And Jehovah spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

² Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, by their polls;

³ from twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel, thou and Aaron shall number them by their hosts.

⁴ And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of his fathers’ house.

⁵ And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you. Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

⁶ Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

⁷ Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

⁸ Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

⁹ Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

¹⁰ Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

¹¹ Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

¹² Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

¹³ Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

¹⁴ Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

¹⁵ Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.

¹⁶ These are they that were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

² Take the sum of all the congregation of Israel according to their kindreds, according to the houses of their fathers' families, according to their number by their names, according to their heads: every male

³ from twenty years old and upwards, every one that goes forth in the forces of Israel, take account of them with their strength; thou and Aaron take account of them.

⁴ And with you there shall be each one of the rulers according to the tribe of each: they shall be according to the houses of their families.

⁵ And these are the names of the men who shall be present with you; of the tribe of Ruben, Elisur the son of Sediur.

⁶ Of Symeon, Salamiel the son of Surisadai.

⁷ Of Juda, Naasson the son of Aminadab.

⁸ Of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Sogar.

⁹ Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Chælon.

¹⁰ Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Emiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadasur.

¹¹ Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gadeoni.

¹² Of Dan, Achiezer the son of Amisadai.

¹³ Of Aser, Phagaiel the son of Echran.

¹⁴ Of Gad, Elisaph the son of Raguel.

¹⁵ Of Nephthali, Achire the son of Ænan.

¹⁶ These were famous men of the congregation, heads of the tribes according to their families: these are heads of thousands in Israel.

¹ In April of the year after the Israeli people left Egypt, Yahweh spoke to Moses/me while he/I was in the Sacred Tent, in the Sinai Desert. Yahweh said to him/me,

² “I want you and Aaron to determine how many Israeli men are able to fight in battles. Write down the names of all the men who are at least twenty years old, and write down the names of their clans and families.

⁴ I have chosen one man from each of the tribes to help you to do this. Each one will be a leader of his clan.

⁵ Their names are: Elizur, the son of Shedeur, from the tribe of Reuben; Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai, from the tribe of Simeon; Nahshon, the son of Amminadab, from the tribe of Judah; Nethanel, the son of Zuar, from the tribe of Issachar; Eliab, the son of Helon, from the tribe of Zebulun; Elishama, the son of Ammihud, from the tribe of Joseph's son Ephraim; Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur, from the tribe of Joseph's son Manasseh; Abidan, the son of Gideoni, from the tribe of Benjamin; Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai, from the tribe of Dan; Pagiel, the son of Ocran, from the tribe of Asher; Eliasaph, the son of Deuel, from the tribe of Gad; Ahira, the son of Enan, from the tribe of Naphtali.”

¹⁶ Those were the men whom Yahweh chose from the people. They were leaders of their tribes. They were the chief men of the clans of the Israeli people.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

² Take the full number of the children of Israel, by their families, and by their fathers' houses, every male by name;

³ All those of twenty years old and over, who are able to go to war in Israel, are to be numbered by you and Aaron.

⁴ And to give you help, take one man from every tribe, the head of his father's house.

⁵ These are the names of those who are to be your helpers: from Reuben, Elizur, the son of Shedeur;

⁶ From Simeon, Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai;

⁷ From Judah, Nahshon, the son of Amminadab;

⁸ From Issachar, Nethanel, the son of Zuar;

⁹ From Zebulun, Eliab, the son of Helon;

¹⁰ Of the children of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama, the son of Ammihud; from Manasseh, Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur,

¹¹ From Benjamin, Abidan, the son of Gideoni;

¹² From Dan, Ahiezer, the son of Ammi-shaddai;

¹³ From Asher, Pagiel, the son of Ochran;

¹⁴ From Gad, Eliasaph, the son of Reuel;

¹⁶ These are the men named out of all the people, chiefs of their fathers' houses, heads of the tribes of Israel.

³ from twenty years and upward, all that go forth to military service in Israel: ye shall number them according to their hosts, thou and Aaron.

⁴ And with you there shall be a man for every tribe, a man who is the head of his father's house.

⁵ And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: for Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;

⁶ for Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;

⁷ for Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;

⁸ for Issachar, Nethaneel the son of Zuar;

⁹ for Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon;

¹⁴ for Gad, Eliasaph the son of Deuel;

¹⁵ for Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.

¹⁶ These were those summoned of the assembly, princes of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the thousands of Israel.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai in the tabernacle of the covenant, the first day of the second month, the second year of their going out of Egypt, saying:

² Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel by their families, and houses, and the names of every one, as many as are of the male sex,

³ From twenty years old and upwards, of all the men of Israel fit for war, and you shall number them by their troops, thou and Aaron.

⁴ And there shall be with you the princes of the tribes, and of the houses in their kindreds,

⁵ Whose names are these: Of Ruben, Elisur the son of Sedeur.

⁶ Of Simeon, Salamiel the son of Surisaddai.

⁷ Of Juda, Nahasson the son of Aminadab.

⁸ Of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Suar.

⁹ Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Helon.

¹⁰ And of the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Ammiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadassur.

¹¹ Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gedeon.

¹⁵ Of Nephtali, Ahira the son of Enan.

¹⁶ These are the most noble princes of the multitude by their tribes and kindreds, and the chiefs of the army of Israel:

¹ The Lord spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting while they were in the Sinai desert. This was on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites had left Egypt. He told him,

² “Census all the Israelites according to their tribe and family. Count every man and keep a record of each individual's name.

³ Those aged twenty or older who can do military service are to be registered by you and Aaron in their Israelite army divisions.

⁴ A representative from each tribe, the head of a family, must be there with you.

⁵ These are the names of the men who will work with you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur, son of Shedeur;

⁶ from the tribe of Simeon, Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai;

⁷ from the tribe of Judah, Nahshon, son of Amminadab;

⁸ from the tribe of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;

⁹ from the tribe of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon;

¹⁰ from the sons of Joseph: from the tribe of Ephraim, Elishama, son of Ammihud, and from the tribe of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;

¹¹ from the tribe of Benjamin, Abidan, son of Gideoni;

¹² from the tribe of Dan, Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai;

¹³ from the tribe of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ocran;

¹⁴ from the tribe of Gad, Eliasaph, son of Deuel;

¹⁵ and from the tribe of Naphtali, Ahira, son of Enan.”

¹⁶ These were the men chosen from the Israelite community. They were the leaders of their fathers' tribes; the heads of the families of Israel.

¹ The Lord spake againe vnto Moses in the wildernesse of Sinai, in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, in the first day of the second moneth, in the second yere after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

² Take ye the summe of all the Congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, and housholdes of their fathers with the nomber of their names: to wit, all the males, man by man:

³ From twentie yere olde and aboue, all that go forth to the warre in Israel, thou and Aaron shall number them, throughout their armies.

⁴ And with you shalbe men of euery tribe, such as are the heads of the house of their fathers.

⁵ And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you, of the tribe of Reuben, Elizur, the sonne of Shedeur:

¹ And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after their going out of the land of Egypt, saying,

² Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, every male according to their polls;

³ From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: these shall ye number according to their armies, thou and Aaron.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of witness, on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

² Take the sum of all the congregation of Israel according to their kindred, according to the houses of their fathers’ families, according to their number by their names, according to their heads: every male

³ from twenty years old and upward, everyone that goes forth in the forces of Israel, take account of them with their strength; thou and Aaron take account of them.

⁴ And with you there shall be each one of the rulers according to the tribe of each: they shall be according to the houses of their families.

¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the wilderness of Sinai. This happened on the first day of the second month during the second year after the people of Israel had come out from the land of Egypt. Yahweh said,

² “Conduct a census of all the men of Israel in each clan, in their fathers' families. Count them by name. Count every male, each man

³ who is twenty years old or older. Count all who can fight as soldiers for Israel. You and Aaron must record the number of men in their armed groups.

⁴ A man from each tribe, a clan head, must serve with you as his tribe's leader. Each leader must lead the men who will fight for his tribe.

⁵ These are the names of the leaders who must fight with you: From the tribe of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;

⁶ from the tribe of Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;

⁷ from the tribe of Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;

³ from the twentieth year and above, of all the strong men of Israel; and thou and Aaron shall number them by their companies.

⁴ And the princes of the lineages, and of the meines, in their kindreds, shall be with you,

⁵ of which princes, these be the names; of Reuben, Elizur, the son of Shedeur;
