Numbers 15:17-36 in English

¹⁷ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

¹⁸ Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,

¹⁹ then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up a heave-offering unto Jehovah.

²⁰ Of the first of your dough ye shall offer up a cake for a heave-offering: as the heave-offering of the threshing-floor, so shall ye heave it.

²¹ Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto Jehovah a heave-offering throughout your generations.

²² And when ye shall err, and not observe all these commandments, which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses,

²³ even all that Jehovah hath commanded you by Moses, from the day that Jehovah gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations;

²⁴ then it shall be, if it be done unwittingly, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet savor unto Jehovah, with the meal-offering thereof, and the drink-offering thereof, according to the ordinance, and one he-goat for a sin-offering.

²⁵ And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they shall be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their oblation, an offering made by fire unto Jehovah, and their sin-offering before Jehovah, for their error:

²⁶ and all the congregation of the children of Israel shall be forgiven, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; for in respect of all the people it was done unwittingly.

²⁷ And if one person sin unwittingly, then he shall offer a she-goat a year old for a sin-offering.

²⁸ And the priest shall make atonement for the soul that erreth, when he sinneth unwittingly, before Jehovah, to make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven.

²⁹ Ye shall have one law for him that doeth aught unwittingly, for him that is home-born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

³⁰ But the soul that doeth aught with a high hand, whether he be home-born or a sojourner, the same blasphemeth Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

³¹ Because he hath despised the word of Jehovah, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks upon the sabbath day.

³³ And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.

³⁴ And they put him in ward, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

³⁵ And Jehovah said unto Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

³⁶ And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him to death with stones; as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁹ then it shall come to pass, when ye shall eat of the bread of the land, ye shall separate a wave-offering, a special offering to the Lord, the first-fruits of your dough.

²⁰ Ye shall offer your bread a heave-offering: as a heave-offering from the threshing-floor, so shall ye separate it,

²¹ even the first-fruits of your dough, and ye shall give the Lord a heave-offering throughout your generations.

²² But whensoever ye shall transgress, and not perform all these commands, which the Lord spoke to Moses;

²³ as the Lord appointed you by the hand of Moses, from the day which the Lord appointed you and forward throughout your generations,

²⁴ then it shall come to pass, if a trespass be committed unwillingly, unknown to the congregation, then shall all the congregation offer a calf of the herd without blemish for a whole-burnt-offering of sweet savour to the Lord, and its meat-offering and its drink-offering according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats for a sin-offering.

²⁵ And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the trespass shall be forgiven them, because it is involuntary; and they have brought their gift, a burnt-offering to the Lord for their trespass before the Lord, even for their involuntary sins.

²⁶ And it shall be forgiven as respects all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that is abiding among you, because it is involuntary to all the people.

²⁷ And if one soul sin unwillingly, he shall bring one she-goat of a year old for a sin-offering.

²⁸ And the priest shall make atonement for the soul that committed the trespass unwillingly, and that sinned unwillingly before the Lord, to make atonement for him.

²⁹ There shall be one law for the native among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that abides among them, whosoever shall commit a trespass unwillingly.

³⁰ And whatever soul either of the natives or of the strangers shall do any thing with a presumptuous hand, he will provoke God; that soul shall be cut off from his people,

³¹ for he has set at nought the word of the Lord and broken his commands: that soul shall be utterly destroyed, his sin is upon him.

³² And the children of Israel were in the wilderness, and they found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath-day.

³³ And they who found him gathering sticks on the sabbath-day brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel.

³⁴ And they placed him in custody, for they did not determine what they should do to him.

³⁵ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Let the man be by all means put to death: do ye all the congregation, stone him with stones.

³⁶ And all the congregation brought him forth out of the camp; and all the congregation stoned him with stones outside the camp, as the Lord commanded Moses.

¹⁷ Yahweh also said to Moses/me,

¹⁸ “Tell these instructions to the Israeli people: Yahweh says this: ❛When you arrive in the land to which I am taking you,

¹⁹ and you eat the crops that are growing there, you must set some of them aside to be a sacred offering to me.

²⁰ Each year set aside some of the first grain that you gather after you have threshed it. Bake a loaf of bread from the first flour that you grind and bring it to me to be a sacred offering.

²¹ Every year, you and your descendants must continue to make and bring to me a loaf of bread baked MTY with flour from the first part of the grain that you harvest.”

²² “There may be times when you Israelis do not obey all these instructions that I have given to Moses to tell you, but not because you intended to disobey them.

²³ There may be times when some of your descendants do not obey all these instructions that I have given to Moses to tell to you.

²⁴ If you or they sin by forgetting to obey these instructions and none of the Israeli people realize that they were doing that, one young bull as an offering for all the people must be brought to the priest. That will be pleasing to me when it is burned on the altar. They must also bring to me a grain offering and an offering of wine, and a male goat, to be sacrificed to enable me to forgive them for the sins they have committed.

²⁵ By offering these sacrifices, the priest will make atonement for all of you Israeli people. Then, as a result of their bringing to me an offering to be burned on the altar, ◄you will be forgiven/I will forgive you►, because you sinned without realizing that you were sinning.

²⁶ You Israeli people and the foreigners who are living among you will all be forgiven.

²⁷ If one person commits a sin without realizing that he was sinning, that person must bring to me a female goat to be an offering to enable me to forgive that person for the sins that person has committed.

²⁸ The priest will offer it to be a sacrifice to remove the guilt of that person, and that person will be forgiven.

²⁹ You Israelis and all the foreigners who live among you must obey these same instructions.

³⁰ But those who disobey my commands ◄deliberately/because they want to►, both Israelis and the foreigany moreners who live among you, have sinned against me by doing that. So ◄they must be expelled/you must expel them► from your camp.

³¹ They have despised my commands and deliberately disobeyed them, so they must be punished for their sin by not being allowed to live among you anymore.”

³² One day, while the Israelis were in the desert, some of them saw a man who was gathering firewood on the Sabbath/rest day.

³³ Those who saw him doing that brought him to Aaron and Moses/me and the rest of the Israeli people.

³⁴ They guarded him carefully, because they did not know what to do to punish him.

³⁵ Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “The man must be executed. All of you must kill him by throwing stones at him outside the camp.”

³⁶ So they all took the man outside the camp and killed him by throwing stones at him, as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me that they should do.

¹⁷ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

³⁵ Yahweh said to Moses, “The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp.”

³⁶ All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

¹⁷ The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁸ “Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land where I bring you,

¹⁹ then it shall be that when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall offer up a wave offering to the LORD.

²⁰ Of the first of your dough you shall offer up a cake for a wave offering. As the wave offering of the threshing floor, so you shall heave it.

²¹ Of the first of your dough, you shall give to the LORD a wave offering throughout your generations.

²² “‘When you err, and don’t observe all these commandments which the LORD has spoken to Moses—

²³ even all that the LORD has commanded you by Moses, from the day that the LORD gave commandment and onward throughout your generations—

²⁴ then it shall be, if it was done unwittingly, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, for a pleasant aroma to the LORD, with its meal offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a sin offering.

²⁵ The priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they shall be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their error.

²⁶ All the congregation of the children of Israel shall be forgiven, as well as the stranger who lives as a foreigner amongst them; for with regard to all the people, it was done unwittingly.

²⁷ “‘If a person sins unwittingly, then he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering.

²⁸ The priest shall make atonement for the soul who errs when he sins unwittingly before the LORD. He shall make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven.

²⁹ You shall have one law for him who does anything unwittingly, for him who is native-born amongst the children of Israel, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner amongst them.

³⁰ “‘But the soul who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, blasphemes the LORD. That soul shall be cut off from amongst his people.

³¹ Because he has despised the LORD’s word, and has broken his commandment, that soul shall be utterly cut off. His iniquity shall be on him.’”

³² While the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day.

³³ Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation.

³⁴ They put him in custody, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

³⁵ The LORD said to Moses, “The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp.”

³⁶ All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones, as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹⁷ And the Lord said to Moses,

¹⁸ Say to the children of Israel, When you come into the land where I am guiding you,

¹⁹ Then, when you take for your food the produce of the land, you are to give an offering lifted up before the Lord.

²⁰ Of the first of your rough meal you are to give a cake for a lifted offering, lifting it up before the Lord as the offering of the grain-floor is lifted up.

²¹ From generation to generation you are to give to the Lord a lifted offering from the first of your rough meal.

²² And if in error you go against any of these laws which the Lord has given to Moses,

²³ All the laws which the Lord has given you by the hand of Moses, from the day when the Lord gave them, and ever after from generation to generation;

²⁴ Then, if the wrong is done in error, without the knowledge of the meeting of the people, let all the meeting give a young ox as a burned offering, a sweet smell to the Lord, with its meal offering and its drink offering, as is ordered in the law, together with a he-goat for a sin-offering.

²⁵ So the priest will make the people free from sin, and they will have forgiveness; for it was an error, and they have given their offering made by fire to the Lord, and their sin-offering before the Lord, on account of their error:

²⁶ And all the meeting of the children of Israel, as well as those from other lands living among them, will have forgiveness; for it was an error on the part of the people.

²⁷ And if one person does wrong, without being conscious of it, then let him give a she-goat of the first year for a sin-offering.

²⁸ And the priest will take away the sin of the person who has done wrong, if the wrong was done unconsciously, and he will have forgiveness.

²⁹ The law in connection with wrong done unconsciously is to be the same for him who is an Israelite by birth and for the man from another country who is living among them.

³⁰ But the person who does wrong in the pride of his heart, if he is one of you or of another nation by birth, is acting without respect for the Lord, and will be cut off from his people.

³¹ Because he had no respect for the word of the Lord, and did not keep his law, that man will be cut off without mercy and his sin will be on him.

³² Now while the children of Israel were in the waste land, they saw a man who was getting sticks on the Sabbath day.

³³ And those who saw him getting sticks took him before Moses and Aaron and all the people.

³⁴ And they had him shut up, because they had no directions about what was to be done with him.

³⁵ Then the Lord said to Moses, Certainly the man is to be put to death: let him be stoned by all the people outside the tent-circle.

³⁶ So all the people took him outside the tent-circle and he was stoned to death there, as the Lord gave orders to Moses.

¹⁷ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁸ Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,

¹⁹ then it shall be, when ye eat of the bread of the land, that ye shall offer a heave-offering to Jehovah;

²⁰ the first of your dough shall ye offer, a cake, for a heave-offering; as the heave-offering of the threshing-floor, so shall ye offer this.

²¹ Of the first of your dough ye shall give to Jehovah a heave-offering throughout your generations.

²² And if ye sin inadvertently, and do not all these commandments, which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses,

²³ all that Jehovah hath commanded you through Moses, from the day that Jehovah gave commandment, and henceforward throughout your generations;

²⁴ then it shall be, if ought be committed by inadvertence hid from the eyes of the assembly, that the whole assembly shall offer one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet odour to Jehovah, and its oblation and its drink-offering according to the ordinance, and one buck of the goats for a sin-offering.

²⁵ And the priest shall make atonement for the whole assembly of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it was a sin of inadvertence, and they have brought before Jehovah their offering, as an offering by fire to Jehovah, and their sin-offering for their sin of inadvertence;

²⁶ and it shall be forgiven the whole assembly of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; for with all the people there was a sin of inadvertence.

²⁷ And if one soul sin through inadvertence, then he shall present a yearling she-goat for a sin-offering.

²⁸ And the priest shall make atonement for the soul that hath done inadvertently, when he sinneth by inadvertence before Jehovah, to make atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.

²⁹ For him that is born in the land among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them — there shall be one law for you, for him who doeth anything through inadvertence.

³⁰ But the soul that doeth ought with a high hand, whether born in the land, or a stranger, he reproacheth Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

³¹ For he hath despised the word of Jehovah, and hath broken his commandment: that soul shall surely be cut off; his iniquity is upon him.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness they found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day.

¹⁷ Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them:

¹⁸ When you are come into the land which I will give you,

¹⁹ And shall eat of the bread of that country, you shall separate firstfruits to the Lord,

²⁰ Of the things you eat. As you separate firstfruits of your barnfloors:

²¹ So also shall you give firstfruits of your dough to the Lord.

²² And if through ignorance you omit any of these things, which the Lord hath spoken to Moses,

²³ And by him hath commanded you, from the day that he began to command and thenceforward,

²⁴ And the multitude have forgotten to do it: they shall offer a calf out of the herd, a holocaust for a most sweet savour to the Lord, and the sacrifice and libations thereof, as the ceremonies require, and a buck goat for sin:

²⁵ And the priest shall pray for all the multitude of the children of Israel: and it shall be forgiven them, because they sinned ignorantly, offering notwithstanding a burnt offering to the Lord for themselves and for their sin and their ignorance:

²⁶ And it shall be forgiven all the people of the children of Israel: and the strangers that sojourn among them: because it is the fault of all the people through ignorance.

²⁷ But if one soul shall sin ignorantly, he shall offer a she goat of a year old for his sin.

²⁸ And the priest shall pray for him, because he sinned ignorantly before the Lord: and he shall obtain his pardon, and it shall be forgiven him.

²⁹ The same law shall be for all that sin by ignorance, whether they be natives or strangers.

³⁰ But the soul that committeth any thing through pride, whether he be born in the land or a stranger (because he hath been rebellious against the Lord) shall be cut off from among his people:

³¹ For he hath contemned the word the Lord, and made void his precept: therefore shall he be destroyed, and shall bear his iniquity.

³² And it came to pass, when the children of Israel were in the wilderness, and had found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day,

³³ That they brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole multitude.

³⁴ And they put him into prison, not knowing what they should do with him.

³⁵ And the Lord said to Moses: Let that man die, let all the multitude stone him without the camp.

³⁶ And when they had brought him out, they stoned him, and he died as the Lord had commanded.

¹⁷ Then the Lord told Moses,

¹⁸ “Tell the Israelites, ‘When you get to the country where I'm leading you

¹⁹ and you eat the food produced there, you shall give some of it as an offering to the Lord.

²⁰ You are to give some of the flour you make into loaves as a gift—present it just like an offering from the threshing floor.

²¹ For all future generations, you are to give the Lord an offering from the first of your flour.

²² Now if you collectively sin without meaning to and don't follow all these instructions that the Lord has given Moses—

²³ everything that the Lord has ordered you to do through Moses from the time that the Lord gave them and for all future generations—

²⁴ and if it was done unintentionally without everyone knowing about it, then the whole congregation is to present a young bull as a burnt offering to be accepted by the Lord, along with its grain offering and drink offering presented according to the rules, as well as a male goat as a sin offering.

²⁵ In this way the priest is to make the whole congregation of Israel right with the Lord so that they can be forgiven, because the sin was unintentional and they have presented the Lord with an burnt offering and a sin offering, offered before the Lord for their unintentional sin.

²⁶ Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners living among them will be forgiven, because the people sinned unintentionally.

²⁷ In the case of an individual who sins without meaning to—they are to present a year-old female goat as a sin offering.

²⁸ The priest will make the person who sinned unintentionally right before the Lord their behalf. Once they have been made right, they will be forgiven.

²⁹ You shall apply the same law for the one who mistakenly sins to an Israelite or a foreigner living among you.

³⁰ But the person who sins in defiance, whether an Israelite or foreigner, is blaspheming the Lord. They shall be expelled from their people.

³¹ They have to be expelled, because they have treated the word of the Lord with contempt and broken his commandment. They are responsible for the consequences of their own guilt.’”

³² During the time the Israelites were wandering in the desert, a man was caught collecting firewood on the Sabbath.

³³ The people who found him collecting wood brought him before Moses, Aaron, and the rest of the Israelites.

³⁴ They placed him under guard because it wasn't clear what should happen to him.

³⁵ The Lord told Moses, “This man has to be executed. All the Israelites are to stone him outside the camp.”

³⁶ So they all took the man outside the camp and stoned him to death as the Lord had ordered Moses.

¹⁷ And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

¹⁸ Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When ye be come into the lande, to the which I bring you,

¹⁹ And when ye shall eate of the bread of the land, ye shall offer an heaue offring vnto ye Lord.

²⁰ Ye shall offer vp a cake of the first of your dowe for an heaue offring: as the heaue offring of the barne, so ye shall lift it vp.

²¹ Of the first of your dowe ye shall giue vnto the Lord an heaue offring in your generations.

²² And if ye haue erred, and not obserued all these commandements, which the Lord hath spoken vnto Moses,

²³ Euen all that the Lord hath commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the first day that the Lord commanded Moses, and hence forward among your generations:

²⁴ And if so be that ought be committed ignorantly of the Congregation, then all ye Congregatio shall giue a bullocke for a burnt offring, for a sweete sauour vnto the Lord, with the meat offring and drinke offring thereto, according to the maner, and an hee goate for a sinne offring.

²⁵ And the Priest shall make an atonement for al the Congregation of the children of Israel, and it shalbe forgiuen them: for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offring for an offring made by fire vnto the Lord, and their sinne offering before the Lord for their ignorance.

²⁶ Then it shalbe forgiuen all the Congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that dwelleth among them: for all the people were in ignorance.

²⁷ But if any one person sinne through ignorance, then he shall bring a shee goate of a yeere olde for a sinne offring.

²⁸ And the Priest shall make an atonement for the ignorant person, when hee sinneth by ignorance before the Lord, to make reconciliation for him: and it shalbe forgiuen him.

²⁹ He that is borne among the children of Israel, and the stranger that dwelleth among them, shall haue both one lawe, who so doth sinne by ignorance.

³⁰ But the person that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be borne in the land, or a stranger, the same blasphemeth the Lord: therefore that person shalbe cut off from among his people,

³¹ Because he hath despised the worde of the Lord, and hath broken his commandement: that person shalbe vtterly cut off: his iniquitie shalbe vpon him.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wildernesse, they found a man that gathered stickes vpon the Sabbath day.

³⁶ And all the Congregation brought him without the hoste, and stoned him with stones, and he died, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

¹⁹ then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall set apart a portion for a gift unto the LORD.

²⁰ Of the first of your dough ye shall set apart a cake for a gift; as that which is set apart of the threshing-floor, so shall ye set it apart.

²¹ Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the LORD a portion for a gift throughout your generations.

²² And when ye shall err, and not observe all these commandments, which the LORD hath spoken unto Moses,

²³ even all that the LORD hath commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that the LORD gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations;

²⁴ then it shall be, if it be done in error by the congregation, it being hid from their eyes, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD — with the meal-offering thereof, and the drink-offering thereof, according to the ordinance — and one he-goat for a sin-offering.

²⁵ And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they shall be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin-offering before the LORD, for their error.

²⁴ Then shall it be, if, through inadvertence of the congregation, it was committed by ignorance, that all the congregation shall prepare one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet savor unto the Lord, with his meat-offering, and his drink-offering, according to the prescribed manner, and one he-goat for a sin-offering.

²⁵ And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven unto them; for it is a sin of ignorance; and they have brought their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord, and their sin-offering before the Lord, for their sin of ignorance:

²⁶ And it shall be forgiven unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them; for by all the people was it done in ignorance.

²⁷ And if any person sin through ignorance, then shall he bring a she-goat of the first year for a sin-offering.

²⁸ And the priest shall make an atonement for the person that hath erred, in his sinning through ignorance before the Lord; to make an atonement for him, that it may be forgiven unto him.

²⁹ For the native born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them:—one law shall be for you, for him that acteth through ignorance.

³⁰ But the person that doth aught with a high hand, be he one born in the land, or a stranger, the same dishonoreth the Lord; and that person shall be cut off from among his people.

³¹ Because the word of the Lord hath he despised, and his commandment hath he broken; that person shall be cut off, his iniquity is upon him.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks upon the sabbath-day.

³³ And they that found him gathering sticks brought him for judgment unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.

³⁴ And they put him in ward; because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

³⁵ And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

³⁶ And all the congregation brought him forth to without the camp, and they stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord had commanded Moses.

¹⁷ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁸ Speak to the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, When ye are entering into the land, into which I bring you,

¹⁹ then it shall come to pass, when ye shall eat of the bread of the land, ye shall separate a wave offering, a special offering to the Lord, the firstfruits of your dough.

²⁰ Ye shall offer your bread a heave offering: as a heave offering from the threshing floor, so shall ye separate it,

²¹ even the firstfruits of your dough, and ye shall give the Lord a heave offering throughout your generations.

²² But whensoever ye shall transgress, and not perform all these commands, which the Lord spoke to Moses;

²³ as the Lord appointed you by the hand of Moses, from the day which the Lord appointed you and forward throughout your generations,

²⁴ then it shall come to pass, if a trespass be committed unwillingly, unknown to the congregation, then shall all the congregation offer a calf of the herd without blemish for a whole burnt offering of sweet savor to the Lord, and its meat offering and its drink offering according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.

²⁵ And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the trespass shall be forgiven them, because it is involuntary; and they have brought their gift, a burnt offering to the Lord for their trespass before the Lord, even for their involuntary sins.

²⁶ And it shall be forgiven as respects all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that is abiding among you, because it is involuntary to all the people.

²⁷ And if one soul sin unwillingly, he shall bring one she-goat of a year old for a sin offering.

²⁸ And the priest shall make atonement for the soul that committed the trespass unwillingly, and that sinned unwillingly before the Lord, to make atonement for him.

²⁹ There shall be one law for the native among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that abides among them, whosoever shall commit a trespass unwillingly.

³⁰ And whatever soul either of the natives or of the strangers shall do anything with a presumptuous hand, he will provoke God; that soul shall be cut off from his people,

³¹ for he has set at nought the word of the Lord and broken his commands: that soul shall be utterly destroyed, his sin is upon him.

³² And the children of Israel were in the wilderness, and they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day.

³³ And they who found him gathering sticks on the Sabbath day brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel.

³⁴ And they placed him in custody, for they did not determine what they should do to him.

³⁵ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Let the man be by all means put to death: do ye all the congregation, stone him with stones.

³⁶ And all the congregation brought him forth out of the camp; and all the congregation stoned him with stones outside the camp, as the Lord commanded Moses.

¹⁷ And the Lord spake with Mosheh, saying:

¹⁸ Speak with the sons of Israel, and say to them, When you have come into the land into which I will bring you,

¹⁹ and when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall set apart a separation before the Lord.

²⁰ Of the first of your food you shall set apart a cake for a separation; as the separation of the threshing-floor, so shall you set it apart;

²¹ Of the first of your bread (dough) you shall give the separation before the Lord in your generations.

²² And should you be in ignorance, and not do all these commandments of which the Lord hath spoken with Mosheh,

²³ Even all which the Lord commanded you by the hand of Mosheh from the day that the Lord commanded and thenceforward in your generations,

²⁴ It shall be that if anything be hid from the eyes of the congregation and you do ignorantly, then all the congregation shall make a burnt offering of one young bullock, to be received with acceptance before the Lord, with his mincha and his libation, according to the proper manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering:

²⁵ And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them, for it was ignorance; but they shall bring their oblation before the Lord on account of their ignorance.

²⁶ And it shall be forgiven to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and to the sojourners who sojourn among them; for all the people (were) in ignorance.

²⁷ And if one sin ignorantly, he shall bring a female kid of the year for a sin offering;

²⁸ And the priest shall make atonement for the man who hath erred in his sin through ignorance before the Lord, to atone for him, and it shall be forgiven him.

²⁹ For the native-born of the sons of Israel, and for the sojourner who sojourneth among you, one law shall there be for you, for him who acteth in ignorance.

³⁰ But the man who doeth presumptuously, whether of the native-born, or of the sojourners, he provoketh the Lord to anger, and that man shall perish from among his people:

³¹ Because he hath despised the word of the Lord, and hath made His commandment vain, that man shall be utterly destroyed, his sin is upon him.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man stealing wood on the day of the Sabbath;

³³ And they who had found him stealing wood brought him to Mosheh and Aharon, and to all the congregation.

³⁴ And they bound him in the house of custody; for it had not been explained to them what they should do to him.

³⁵ And the Lord said unto Mosheh, The man shall be surely put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

³⁶ And all the congregation brought him forth without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Mosheh.

¹⁸ “Speak to the children of Israel God prevails, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land where I bring you,

²² “‘If by mistake you fail to observe all these mitzvot ·instructions·, which Adonai has spoken to Moses Drawn out,

²³ even all that Adonai has enjoined you by Moses Drawn out, from the day that Adonai gave commandment, and onward throughout all your generations;

²⁴ then it shall be, if it was done unwittingly, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, for a pleasant aroma to Adonai , with its meal offering, and its drink offering, according to the judgement, and one male goat for a sin offering.

²⁵ The priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel God prevails, and they shall be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to Adonai , and their sin offering before Adonai , for their error.

²⁶ All the congregation of the children of Israel God prevails shall be forgiven, as well as the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them; for with regard to all the people, it was done unwittingly. (7)

²⁸ The priest shall make atonement for the soul who errors, when he sins unwittingly before Adonai , to make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven.

²⁹ You shall have one Torah ·Teaching· for him who does anything unwittingly, for him who is native-born among the children of Israel God prevails, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them.

³⁰ “‘But the soul who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, the same blasphemes Adonai . That soul shall be cut off from among his people.

³¹ Because he has despised Adonai ’s word, and has broken his order, that soul shall utterly be cut off. His iniquity shall be on him.’”

³² While the children of Israel God prevails were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath ·To cease· day.

³³ Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses Drawn out and Aaron Light-bringer, and to all the congregation.

³⁴ They put him in custody, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

³⁵ Adonai said to Moses Drawn out, “The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp.”

³⁶ All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones, as Adonai enjoined Moses Drawn out. (Maftir ·Conclusion·)

¹⁷ Again Yahweh spoke to Moses. He said,

¹⁸ “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'When you come into the land where I will take you,

¹⁹ when you eat the food produced in the land, you must offer an offering and present it to me.

²⁰ From the first of your dough you must offer a loaf to raise it up as a raised offering from the threshing floor. You must raise it up in this way.

²¹ You must give to me a raised offering throughout your people's generations from the first of your dough.

²² You will sometimes sin without intending to do so, when you do not obey all these commands that I have spoken to Moses—

²³ everything that I have commanded you through Moses from the day that I began to give you commands and onward throughout your people's generations.

²⁴ In the case of unintentional sin without the community's knowledge, then all the community must offer one young bull as a burnt offering to produce a sweet aroma for Yahweh. Along with this must be made a grain offering and drink offering, as commanded by the decree, and one male goat as a sin offering.

²⁵ The priest must make atonement for all the community of the people of Israel. They will be forgiven because the sin was an error. They have brought their sacrifice, an offering made by fire to me. They have brought their sin offering before me for their error.

²⁶ Then all the community of the people of Israel will be forgiven, and also the foreigners who are staying with them, because all the people committed the sin unintentionally.

²⁷ If a person sins unintentionally, then he must offer a female goat a year old as a sin offering.

²⁸ The priest must make atonement before Yahweh for the person who sins unintentionally. That person will be forgiven when atonement has been made.

²⁹ You must have the same law for the one who does anything unintentionally, the same law for the one who is native born among the people of Israel and for the foreigners who are staying among them.

³⁰ But the person who does anything in defiance, whether he is native born or a foreigner, blasphemes me. That person must be cut off from among his people.

³¹ Because he has despised my word and has broken my commandment, that person must be cut off completely. His sin will be on him.'”

³² While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.

³³ Those who found him brought him to Moses, Aaron, and all the community.

³⁴ They kept him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done with him.

³⁵ Then Yahweh said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death. All the community must stone him with stones outside the camp.”

³⁶ So all the community brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

²⁴ Then it shall be, if aught shall be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt-offering, for a sweet savor to the LORD, with his meat-offering, and his drink-offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin-offering.

²² That if by ignorance ye pass by any of those things which the Lord spake to Moses,

²³ and hath commanded by him to you, from the day in which he began to command, and over,

²⁴ and the multitude hath forgotten to do this, it shall offer a calf of the drove, burnt sacrifice into sweetest odour to the Lord, and the sacrifices thereof, and flowing offerings, as the ceremonies thereof ask; and it shall offer a buck of goats for sin.

²⁵ And the priest shall pray for all the multitude of the sons of Israel, and it shall be forgiven to them, for they sinned not willfully. And nevertheless they shall offer incense to the Lord for themselves, and for their sin, and their error;

²⁶ and it shall be forgiven to all the people of the sons of Israel, and to the comelings that be pilgrims among them, for it is the sin of all the multitude by ignorance.

²⁷ That if a soul sinneth unwittingly, it shall offer a she-goat of one year for his sin;

²⁸ and the priest shall pray for that soul, for it sinned unwittingly before the Lord; and the priest shall get forgiveness to it, and the sin shall be forgiven to it.

²⁹ As well to men born in the land, as to comelings, one law shall be of all that sin unwittingly.

³⁰ Forsooth a man that doeth any sin by pride, shall perish from the people, whether he be a citizen, either a pilgrim, for he was rebel against the Lord;

³¹ for he despised the word of the Lord, and made void his command-ment; therefore he shall be done away, and shall bear his own wickedness.

³² Soothly it was done, when the sons of Israel were in wilderness, and they had found a man gathering wood in the sabbath day,

³³ they brought him to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the multitude;

³⁴ the which enclosed, or put, him into prison, and they knew not what they should do to him.

³⁵ And the Lord said to Moses, This man die by death; all the company oppress him with stones without or away from the tents.

³⁶ And when they had led him withoutforth, they killed him with stones, and he was dead, as the Lord commanded.

²⁴ and the multitude hath forgotten to do this, it shall offer a calf of the drove, (for) burnt sacrifice into sweetest odour to the Lord, and the sacrifices thereof, and (the) flowing offerings, as the ceremonies thereof ask; and it shall offer a buck of (the) goats for sin. (but the multitude hath forgotten to do this, they shall offer a calf from the herd, for a burnt sacrifice, to make the sweetest aroma to the Lord, with its grain and wine offerings, as such ceremonies require; and they shall offer a goat buck for a sin offering.)

²⁵ And the priest shall pray for all the multitude of the sons of Israel, and it shall be forgiven to them, for they sinned not willfully. And nevertheless they shall offer incense to the Lord for themselves, and for their sin, and their error; (And the priest shall make amends for all the multitude of the Israelites, and it shall be forgiven to them, for they did not sin willfully, or intentionally. And they have now offered incense to the Lord for themselves, yea, a sin offering for their error;)

²⁶ and it shall be forgiven to all the people of the sons of Israel, and to the comelings that be pilgrims among them, for it is the sin of all the multitude by ignorance. (and so it shall be forgiven to all the people of the Israelites, and to the foreigners who be newcomers among them, for it is a sin of ignorance by all the multitude.)

²⁷ That if a soul sinneth unwittingly, it shall offer a she-goat of one year for his sin; (And if someone sinneth unwittingly, he shall offer a one-year-old she-goat, for his sin offering;)

²⁸ and the priest shall pray for that soul, for it sinned unwittingly before the Lord; and the priest shall get forgiveness to it, and the sin shall be forgiven to him. (and the priest shall make amends for that person, for he sinned unwittingly before the Lord; and so the priest shall get forgiveness for him, and his sin shall be forgiven.)

²⁹ As well to men born in the land, as to comelings, one law shall be of all that sin unwittingly. (Yea, for men born in the land, as well as for newcomers, one law shall be for all who sin unwittingly, or unintentionally.)

³⁶ And when they had led him withoutforth, they killed him with stones, and (so) he was dead, as the Lord commanded (to Moses).

¹⁷ and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seie to hem,

¹⁸ Whanne ye comen in to the lond which Y schal yyue to you,

¹⁹ and `ye eten of the looues of that cuntrey, ye

²⁰ schulen departe the firste fruytis of youre metis to the Lord; as ye schulen departe the firste fruytis of corn flooris,

²¹ so ye schulen yyue the firste fruytis also of sewis to the Lord.

²² That if bi ignoraunce ye passen ony of tho thingis whiche the Lord spak to Moyses,

²³ and comaundide bi hym to you, fro the dai in which he bigan to comaunde,

²⁴ and ouer, and the multitude hath foryete to do, it schal offre a calf of the drooue, brent sacrifice in to swettist odour to the Lord, and the sacrificis therof, and fletynge offryngis, as the cerymonyes therof axen; and it schal offre a `buc of geet for synne.

²⁵ And the preest schal preie for al the multitude of the sones of Israel, and it schal be foryouun to hem, for thei synneden not wilfuli. And neuerthelesse thei schulen offre encense to the Lord for hemsilf, and for her synne and errour;

²⁶ and it schal be foryouun to al the puple of the sones of Israel, and to comelyngis that ben pilgryms among hem, for it is the synne of al the multitude bi ignoraunce.

²⁷ That if a soule synneth vnwityngli, it schal offre a geet of o yeer for his synne; and the preest schal preye for that soule, for it synnede vnwityngli bifor the Lord;

²⁸ and the preest schal gete foryyuenesse to it, and synne schal be foryouun to it.

²⁹ As wel to men borun in the lond as to comelyngis, o lawe schal be of alle that synnen vnwityngli.

³⁰ Forsothe a man that doith ony synne bi pride, schal perische fro his puple, whether he be a citeseyn, ethir a pilgrym, for he was rebel ayens the Lord;

³¹ for he dispiside the word of the Lord, and made voide his comaundement; therfor he schal be doon awei, and schal bere his owne wickidnes.

³² Forsothe it was doon, whanne the sones of Israel weren in wildirnesse, and hadde founde a man gaderynge woode in the `day of sabat,

³³ thei brouyten hym to Moises, and to Aaron, and to al the multitude; whiche closiden hym in to prisoun,

³⁴ and wisten not what thei schulden do of hym.

³⁵ And the Lord seide to Moises, This man die bi deeth; al the cumpeny oppresse hym with stoonus with out the tentis.

³⁶ And whanne thei hadden led hym with out forth, thei oppressiden him with stoonus, and he was deed, as the Lord comaundide.

¹⁷ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

¹⁸ 'Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, In your coming in unto the land whither I am bringing you in,

¹⁹ then it hath been, in your eating of the bread of the land, ye heave up a heave-offering to Jehovah;

²⁰ the beginning of your dough a cake ye heave up — a heave-offering; as the heave-offering of a threshing-floor, so ye do heave it.

²¹ Of the beginning of your dough ye do give to Jehovah a heave-offering — to your generations.

²² 'And when ye err, and do not all these commands which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses,

²³ the whole that Jehovah hath charged upon you by the hand of Moses, from the day that Jehovah hath commanded, and henceforth, to your generations,

²⁴ then it hath been, if from the eyes of the company it hath been done in ignorance, that all the company have prepared one bullock, a son of the herd, for a burnt-offering, for sweet fragrance to Jehovah, and its present, and its libation, according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats for a sin-offering.

²⁵ 'And the priest hath made atonement for all the company of the sons of Israel, and it hath been forgiven them, for it is ignorance, and they — they have brought in their offering, a fire-offering to Jehovah, even their sin-offering before Jehovah for their ignorance;

²⁶ and it hath been forgiven to all the company of the sons of Israel, and to the sojourner who is sojourning in their midst; for to all the company it is done in ignorance.

²⁷ 'And if one person sin in ignorance, then he hath brought near a she-goat, daughter of a year, for a sin-offering;

²⁸ and the priest hath made atonement for the person who is erring, in his sinning in ignorance before Jehovah, by making atonement for him, and it hath been forgiven him;

²⁹ for the native among the sons of Israel, and for the sojourner who is sojourning in their midst — one law is to you, for him who is doing anything through ignorance.

³⁰ 'And the person who doth aught with a high hand — of the native or of the sojourner — Jehovah he is reviling, and that person hath been cut off from the midst of his people;

³¹ because the word of Jehovah he despised, and His command hath broken — that person is certainly cut off; his iniquity is on him.'

³² And the sons of Israel are in the wilderness, and they find a man gathering wood on the sabbath-day,

³³ and those finding him gathering wood bring him near unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto all the company,

³⁴ and they place him in ward, for it is not explained what is to be done to him.

³⁵ And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'The man is certainly put to death, all the company stoning him with stones, at the outside of the camp.'

³⁶ And all the company bring him out unto the outside of the camp, and stone him with stones, and he dieth, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
