Numbers 14:40-45 in English

⁴⁰ And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up to the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we are here, and will go up unto the place which Jehovah hath promised: for we have sinned.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah, seeing it shall not prosper?

⁴² Go not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten down before your enemies.

⁴³ For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned back from following Jehovah, therefore Jehovah will not be with you.

⁴⁴ But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekite came down, and the Canaanite who dwelt in that mountain, and smote them and beat them down, even unto Hormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Behold, we that are here will go up to the place of which the Lord has spoken, because we have sinned.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Why do ye transgress the word of the Lord? ye shall not prosper.

⁴² Go not up, for the Lord is not with you; so shall ye fall before the face of your enemies.

⁴³ For Amalec and the Chananite are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; because ye have disobeyed the Lord and turned aside, and the Lord will not be among you.

⁴⁴ And having forced their passage, they went up to the top of the mountain; but the ark of the covenant of the Lord and Moses stirred not out of the camp.

⁴⁵ And Amalec and the Chananite that dwelt in that mountain came down, and routed them, and destroyed them unto Herman; and they returned to the camp.

⁴⁰ And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned.

⁴⁰ So the people got up early the next morning and started to go toward the hilly area in Canaan. They said, “ We know that we have sinned, but now we are ready to enter the land that Yahweh promised to give to us.”

⁴¹ But Moses/I said, “Yahweh commanded you to return to the desert, so why are you now disobeying him RHQ? It will not ◄succeed/be possible►.

⁴² Do not try to enter the land now! If you try, your enemies will defeat you, because Yahweh will not ◄be with/help► you.

⁴³ When you begin to fight the descendants of Amalek and Canaan, they will slaughter you! Yahweh will abandon you, because you have abandoned him.”

⁴⁴ But even though Moses/I did not leave the camp, and the sacred chest that contained the Ten Commandments was not taken from the camp, the people began to go towards the hilly area in Canaan.

⁴⁵ Then the descendants of Amalek and Canaan who lived in that hilly area came down and attacked them and chased them as far south as the town of Hormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Behold, we that are here will go up to the place of which the Lord has spoken, because we have sinned.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Why do you° transgress the word of the Lord? you° shall not prosper.

⁴² Go not up, for the Lord is not with you; so shall you° fall before the face of your enemies.

⁴⁴ But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of the LORD’s covenant and Moses didn’t depart out of the camp.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down even to Hormah.

⁴⁰ And early in the morning they got up and went to the top of the mountain, saying, We are here and we will go up to the place which the Lord said he would give us: for we have done wrong.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Why are you now acting against the Lord's order, seeing that no good will come of it?

⁴² Go not up, for the Lord is not with you, and you will be overcome by those who are fighting against you.

⁴³ For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you will be put to death by their swords: because you have gone back from the way of the Lord, the Lord will not be with you.

⁴⁴ But they gave no attention to his words and went to the top of the mountain, though Moses and the ark of the Lord's agreement did not go out of the tent-circle.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who were living in the hill-country, and overcame them completely, driving them back as far as Hormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose up early in the morning, and went up to the hill-top, saying, Here are we, and we will go up to the place of which Jehovah has spoken; for we have sinned.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Why now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah? but it shall not prosper!

⁴² Go not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies;

⁴³ for the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; for as ye have turned away from Jehovah, Jehovah will not be with you.

⁴⁴ Yet they presumed to go up to the hill-top; but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and Moses, did not depart from the midst of the camp.

⁴⁵ And the Amalekites and the Canaanites who dwelt on that hill, came down and smote them, and cut them to pieces, as far as Hormah.

⁴⁰ And behold rising up very early in the morning, they went up to the top of the mountain, and said: We are ready to go up to the place, of which the Lord hath spoken: for we have sinned.

⁴¹ And Moses said to them: Why transgress you the word of the Lord, which shall not succeed prosperously with you?

⁴² Go not up, for the Lord is not with you: lest you fall before your enemies.

⁴³ The Amalecite and the Chanaanite are before you, and by their sword you shall fall, because you would not consent to the Lord, neither will the Lord be with you.

⁴⁴ But they being blinded went up to the top of the mountain. But the ark of the testament of the Lord and Moses departed not from the camp.

⁴⁵ And the Amalecite came down, and the Chanaanite that dwelt in the mountain: and smiting and slaying them pursued them as far as Horma.

⁴⁰ They got up early the next morning planning to go into the hill country. “Yes we really did sin,” they said, “but now we're here and we'll go where the Lord told us.”

⁴¹ But Moses objected. “Why are you disobeying the Lord's command? You won't succeed in your plan!

⁴² Don't try and go, otherwise you will be killed by your enemies, because the Lord isn't with you.

⁴³ The Amalekites and Canaanites living there will attack you, and you will die by the sword. Because you rejected the Lord, he won't help you.”

⁴⁴ But they were arrogant and went up into the hill country, even though Moses and the Ark of the Lord's Agreement didn't move from the camp.

⁴⁵ The Amalekites and Canaanites who lived there in the hill country came down and attacked the Israelites and defeated them, and chased them all the way to Hormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose vp earely in the morning, and gate them vp into the toppe of the mountaine, saying, Loe, we be readie, to goe vp to the place which the Lord hath promised: for wee haue sinned.

⁴¹ But Moses said, Wherefore transgresse yee thus the commandement of the Lord? it will not so come well to passe.

⁴² Goe not vp (for the Lord is not among you) lest ye be ouerthrowe before your enemies.

⁴³ For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sworde: for in as much as ye are turned away from the Lord, the Lord also will not be with you.

⁴⁴ Yet they presumed obstinately to goe vp to the top of the mountaine: but the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and Moses departed not out of the campe.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites, which dwelt in that mountaine, came downe and smote them, and consumed them vnto Hormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose up early in the morning, and got them up to the top of the mountain, saying: 'Lo, we are here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised; for we have sinned.'

⁴¹ And Moses said: 'Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD, seeing it shall not prosper?

⁴² Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten down before your enemies.

⁴⁴ Yet they persisted to go up unto the top of the mountain; but the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and Moses, did not move out of the camp.

⁴⁵ Then came down the Amalekites, and the Canaanites that dwelt on that mountain, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Chormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Behold, we that are here will go up to the place of which the Lord has spoken, because we have sinned.

⁴¹ And Moses said, Why do ye transgress the word of the Lord? ye shall not prosper.

⁴² Go not up, for the Lord is not with you; so shall ye fall before the face of your enemies.

⁴¹ But Mosheh said, Wherefore do you transgress against the decree of the Word of the Lord? But it will not prosper.

⁴² Go not up, for the Shekinah of the Lord is not among you, and be not broken before your enemies.

⁴³ For the Amalkaah and the Kenaanaah are there before you, and you will fall by the sword; for, because you have turned away from the service of the Lord, the Word of the Lord will not be your helper.

⁴⁴ Yet they would commit the wickedness of going up to the summit of the mountain, though the ark of the Lord’s covenant, and Mosheh, removed not from the midst of the camp.

⁴⁵ And the Amalkaah and the Kenaanaah who dwelt in the mountain came down and smote them, and pursued them unto Hormah.

⁴⁰ They rose up early in the morning, and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Adonai has promised: for we have sinned.”

⁴¹ Moses Drawn out said, “Why are you disobeying the order of Adonai ? You shall not succeed!

⁴² Don’t go up, for Adonai is not among you; that you not be struck down before your enemies.

⁴³ For there the Amalekite Descendant of Man who licks up and the Canaanite Descendant of Humbled are before you, and you shall fall by the sword, because you turned back from following Adonai , therefore Adonai will not be with you.”

⁴⁴ But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Adonai ’s covenant and Moses Drawn out didn’t depart out of the camp.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites Descendants of Man who licks up came down, and the Canaanites Descendants of Humbled who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down, even to Hormah.

⁴⁰ They rose up early in the morning and went to the top of the mountain and said, “Look, we are here, and we will go to the place that Yahweh has promised, for we have sinned.”

⁴¹ But Moses said, “Why are you now violating Yahweh's command? You will not succeed.

⁴² Do not go, because Yahweh is not with you to prevent you from being defeated by your enemies.

⁴³ The Amalekites and Canaanites are there, and you will die by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh. So he will not be with you.”

⁴⁴ But they presumed to go up into the hill country; however, neither Moses nor the ark of the covenant of Yahweh left the camp.

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites came down, and also the Canaanites who lived on those hills. They attacked the Israelites and defeated them all the way to Hormah.

⁴⁰ They rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised; for we have sinned.”

⁴¹ Moses said, “Why now do you disobey the commandment of Yahweh, since it shall not prosper?

⁴² Don’t go up, for Yahweh isn’t among you; that way you won’t be struck down before your enemies.

⁴³ Amalek and Canaanites be before you, by the sword of which ye shall fall, for ye would not assent to the Lord, neither the Lord shall be with you.

⁴⁴ And they were made dark, that is, blinded in their sin, and went up into the top of the hill; forsooth the ark of the testament of the Lord and Moses went not away from the tents.

⁴⁵ And Amalek came down, and Canaanites, that dwelled in the hill, and he smote the children of Israel, and he cutted them down, and pursued them to Hormah.

⁴⁰ And, lo! they rose in the morrowtide first, and they went up into the top of the hill, and said, We be ready to go up to the place, of which the Lord spake, for we have sinned. (And behold! they rose up early the next morning, and left to go up into the heights of the hill country, saying, See, now we be ready to go up to the place, of which the Lord hath spoken, and we confess, that we have sinned.)

⁴¹ To whom Moses said, Why over-pass ye the word of the Lord, that shall not befall to you into prosperity? (To whom Moses said, Why pass ye over the word of the Lord? this shall not befall to you into any prosperity, or any success, but only evil.)

⁴² Do not ye go up, for the Lord is not with you, lest ye fall before your enemies. (Do not ye go up, for the Lord is not with you, and ye shall fall before your enemies.)

⁴³ Amalek and Canaanites be before you, by the sword of which ye shall fall, for ye would not assent to the Lord, neither the Lord shall be with you. (The Amalekites and the Canaanites be before you, by whose sword ye shall fall, for ye would not assent to the Lord, and so the Lord shall not be with you.)

⁴⁴ And they were made dark, that is, blinded in their sin, and went up into the top of the hill; forsooth the ark of the testament of the Lord and Moses went not away from the tents. (But they were blinded by their sin, and they went up anyway into the heights of the hill country; but neither the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, that is, the Ark of the Witnessing, nor Moses, left the camp.)

⁴⁵ And Amalek came down, and Canaanites, that dwelled in the hill, and he smote the children of Israel, and he cutted them down, and pursued them (till) to Hormah. (And the Amalekites, and the Canaanites, who lived in that hill country, came down, and they struck the Israelites, and they cut them down, and pursued them as far as Hormah.)

⁴⁰ And, lo! thei riseden in the morewtid first, and `stieden in to the cop of the hil, and seiden, We ben redi to stie to the place, of which the Lord spak, for we synneden.

⁴¹ To whiche Moises seide, Whi passen ye the word of the Lord, that schal not bifalle to you in to prosperite?

⁴² Nyle ye stie, for the Lord is not with you, lest ye fallen bifor youre enemyes.

⁴³ Amalech and Cananei ben bifor you, bi the swerd of whiche ye schulen falle, for ye nolden assente to the Lord, nether the Lord schal be with you.

⁴⁴ And thei weren maad derk, and stieden in to the cop of the hil; forsothe the ark of the testament of the Lord and Moises yeden not awey fro the tentis.

⁴⁵ And Amalech cam doun, and Chananei, that dwelliden in the hil, and he smoot hem, and kittide doun, and pursuede hem til Horma.

⁴⁰ and they rise early in the morning, and go up unto the top of the mountain, saying, 'Here we are, and we have come up unto the place which Jehovah hath spoken of, for we have sinned.'

⁴¹ And Moses saith, 'Why is this? — ye are transgressing the command of Jehovah, and it doth not prosper;

⁴² go not up, for Jehovah is not in your midst, and ye are not smitten before your enemies;

⁴³ for the Amalekite and the Canaanite are there before you, and ye have fallen by the sword, because that ye have turned back from after Jehovah, and Jehovah is not with you.'

⁴⁴ And they presume to go up unto the top of the mountain, and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah and Moses have not departed out of the midst of the camp.

⁴⁵ And the Amalekite and the Canaanite who are dwelling in that mountain come down and smite them, and beat them down — unto Hormah.
