⁵ And when ye blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall take their journey.

⁶ And when ye blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

⁷ But when the assembly is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

⁸ And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and they shall be to you for a statute for ever throughout your generations.

⁹ And when ye go to war in your land against the adversary that oppresseth you, then ye shall sound an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before Jehovah your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

¹⁰ Also in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow the trumpets over your burnt-offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God: I am Jehovah your God.

¹¹ And it came to pass in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, that the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the testimony.

¹² And the children of Israel set forward according to their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud abode in the wilderness of Paran.

¹³ And they first took their journey according to the commandment of Jehovah by Moses.

²¹ And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the others did set up the tabernacle against their coming.

²² And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.

²³ And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

²⁴ And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.

²⁵ And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan, which was the rearward of all the camps, set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

⁵ If the trumpets are blown loudly, the tribes that are to the east of the Sacred Tent should start to travel.

⁶ When the trumpets are blown loudly the second time, the tribes that are to the south should start to travel. The loud blasts on the trumpet will signal that they should start to travel.

⁷ When you want only to gather the people together, blow the trumpets, but do not blow them as loudly.

⁸ The priests who are descended from Aaron are the ones who should blow the trumpets. That is a regulation that will never be changed.

⁹ When you fight against enemies who attack you in your own land, tell the priests to blow the trumpets loudly. I, Yahweh, your God, will hear that, and I will rescue you from your enemies.

¹⁰ Also tell the priests to blow the trumpets when the people are happy, and at the festivals each year, and at the times when they celebrate the new moon each month. Tell them to blow the trumpets when the people bring offerings that will be completely burned, and when they bring offerings to maintain fellowship with me. If they do that, it will help you to remember that I, Yahweh your God, will help you.”

¹¹ On the twentieth day of May in the second year after the/we Israelis left Egypt, the cloud rose up from above the Sacred Tent.

¹² So we/the Israelis traveled from the Sinai Desert, and we/they continued traveling north until the cloud stopped in the Paran Desert.

¹³ That was the first time we/they moved, obeying the instructions that Yahweh had given to Moses/me to tell them.

¹⁴ The group that went first, carrying their flag/banner, was the group from the tribe of Judah. Nahshon, the son of Amminadab, was their leader.

¹⁵ The group from the tribe of Issachar followed them. Nethanel, the son of Zuar, was their leader.

¹⁶ The group from the tribe of Zebulun went next. Eliab, the son of Helon, was their leader.

¹⁷ Then they dismantled the Sacred Tent, and the descendants of Gershon and Merari carried it, and they went next.

¹⁸ The group from the tribe of Reuben went next, carrying their flag. Elizur, the son of Shedeur, was their leader.

¹⁹ The group from the tribe of Simeon was next. Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai, was their leader.

²⁰ The group from the tribe of Gad was next. Eliasaph, the son of Deuel, was their leader.

²¹ The group descended from Kohath was next. They carried the sacred items from the Sacred Tent. The Sacred Tent itself was set up at the new location before they arrived there.

²² The group from the tribe of Ephraim was next, carrying their flag. Elishama, the son of Ammihud, was their leader.

²³ The group from the tribe of Manasseh went next. Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur, was their leader.

²⁴ The group from the tribe of Benjamin, went next. Abidan, the son of Gideoni, was their leader.

²⁶ Pagiel the son of Ochran was over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher.

²⁷ Ahira the son of Enan was over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali.

⁵ When you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall go forward.

⁶ When you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall go forward. They shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

⁷ But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.

⁸ “The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be to you for a statute forever throughout your generations.

⁹ When you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets. Then you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.

²⁶ Pagiel the son of Ochran was over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher.

²⁷ Ahira the son of Enan was over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali.

⁵ When a loud note is sounded, the tents placed on the east side are to go forward.

⁶ At the sound of a second loud note, the tents on the south side are to go forward: the loud note will be the sign to go forward.

⁷ But when all the people are to come together, the horn is to be sounded but not loudly.

⁸ The horns are to be sounded by the sons of Aaron, the priests; this is to be a law for you for ever, from generation to generation.

⁹ And if you go to war in your land against any who do you wrong, then let the loud note of the horn be sounded; and the Lord your God will keep you in mind and give you salvation from those who are against you.

¹⁰ And on days of joy and on your regular feasts and on the first day of every month, let the horns be sounded over your burned offerings and your peace-offerings; and they will put the Lord in mind of you: I am the Lord your God.

¹¹ Now in the second year, on the twentieth day of the second month, the cloud was taken up from over the Tent of witness.

¹² And the children of Israel went on their journey out of the waste land of Sinai; and the cloud came to rest in the waste land of Paran.

¹³ They went forward for the first time on their journey as the Lord had given orders by the hand of Moses.

⁵ And when ye blow an alarm, the camps that lie eastward shall set forward.

⁶ And when ye blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie southward shall set forward; they shall blow an alarm on their setting forward.

⁷ And when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not blow an alarm:

⁸ the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an everlasting statute throughout your generations.

⁹ And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before Jehovah your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

⁵ But if the sound of the trumpets be longer, and with interruptions, they that are on the east side, shall first go forward.

⁶ And at the second sounding and like noise of the trumpet, they who lie on the south side shall take up their tents. And after this manner shall the rest do, when the trumpets shall sound for a march.

⁷ But when the people is to be gathered together, the sound of the trumpets shall be plain, and they shall not make a broken sound.

⁸ And the sons of Aaron the priest shall sound the trumpets: and this shall be an ordinance for ever in your generations.

⁹ If you go forth to war out of your land against the enemies that fight against you, you shall sound aloud with the trumpets, and there shall be a remembrance of you before the Lord your God, that you may be delivered out of the hands of your enemies.

¹⁰ If at any time you shall have a banquet, and on your festival days, and on the first days of your months, you shall sound the trumpets over the holocausts, and the sacrifices of peace offerings, that they may be to you for a remembrance of your God. I am the Lord your God.

¹⁵ In the tribe of the sons of Issachar, the prince was Nathanael the son of Suar.

¹⁶ In the tribe of Zabulon, the prince was Eliab the son of Helon.

¹⁷ And the tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gerson and Merari set forward, bearing it.

¹⁸ And the sons of Ruben also marched, by their troops and ranks, whose prince was Helisur the son of Sedeur.

¹⁹ And in the tribe of Simeon, the prince was Salamiel the son of Surisaddai.

²⁰ And in the tribe of Cad, the prince was Eliasaph the son of Duel.

²¹ Then the Caathites also marched carrying the sanctuary. So long was the tabernacle carried, till they same to the place of setting it up.

²² The sons of Ephraim also moved their camp by their troops, in whose army the prince was Elisama the son of Ammiud.

²³ And in the tribe of the sons of Manasses, the prince was Gamaliel the son of Phadassur.

²⁴ And in the tribe of Benjamin, the prince was Abidan the son of Gedeon.

²⁵ The last of all the camp marched the sons of Dan by their troops, in whose army the prince was Ahiezer the son of Ammisaddai.

²⁶ And in the tribe of the sons of Aser, the prince was Phegiel the son of Ochran.

²⁷ And in the tribe of the sons of Nephtali, the prince was Ahira the son of Enan.

⁵ When you blow the trumpet loudly, which is the alarm signal to move out, the camps on the east side are to march out first.

⁶ When you blow the trumpet loudly the second time, the camps on the south side are to march out. That's their signal to start moving.

⁷ To summon the people, blow the trumpets normally, not the loud alarm signal.

⁸ Aaron's descendants are to blow the trumpets. This regulation is for all time and for all future generations.

⁹ When you're in your own land and have to go into battle against an enemy who has attacked you, blow the alarm signal and the Lord your God won't forget you—he will save you from your enemies.

¹⁰ Blow the trumpets when you celebrate too, at your regular feasts and at the beginning of each month. This is when you give your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings which act as a reminder for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”

¹¹ The cloud rose up from the Tabernacle of the Testimony on the twentieth day of the second month of the second year.

¹² The Israelites left the Desert of Sinai and moved from place to place until the cloud stopped in the Desert of Paran.

¹³ This was the first time they moved out following the Lord's command through Moses.

¹⁴ The tribal divisions of Judah went first, marching out under their flag, with Nahshon, son of Amminadab, in charge.

¹⁵ Nethanel, son of Zuar, was in charge of the tribal division of Issachar,

¹⁶ and Eliab, son of Helon, was in charge of the tribal division of Zebulun.

¹⁷ Then the Tabernacle was dismantled, and the Gershonites and the Merarites set off, carrying it.

¹⁸ Then came the divisions of Reuben who marched out under their flag, with Elizur, son of Shedeur, in charge.

¹⁹ Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai, was in charge of the tribal division of Simeon,

²⁰ and Eliasaph, son of Deuel, was in charge of the tribal division of Gad.

²¹ Then the Kohathites set off, carrying the holy objects. The Tabernacle would be put up before they arrived.

²² Then came the divisions of Ephraim who marched out under their flag, with Elishama, son of Ammihud in charge.

²³ Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, was in charge of the tribal division of Manasseh,

²⁴ and Abidan, son of Gideoni, was in charge of the tribal division of Benjamin.

²⁵ Lastly came the divisions of Dan who marched out under their flag, defending the rear of all the tribal groups, with Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai, in charge.

²⁶ Pagiel, son of Ocran, was in charge of the tribal division of Asher,

²⁷ and Ahira, son of Enan, was in charge of the tribal division of Naphtali.

⁵ But if ye blow an alarme, then the campe of the that pitch on the East part, shall go forward.

⁶ If ye blowe an alarme the second time, then the hoste of them that lie on the Southside shall march: for they shall blowe an alarme when they remoue.

⁷ But in assembling the Congregation, ye shall blowe without an alarme.

⁸ And the sonnes of Aaron the Priest shall blowe the trumpets, and ye shall haue them as a lawe for euer in your generations.

⁹ And when ye goe to warre in your lande against the enemie that vexeth you, ye shall blowe an alarme with the trumpets, and ye shall bee remembred before the Lord your God, and shalbe saued from your enemies.

⁷ And whenever ye shall gather the assembly, ye shall sound, but not an alarm.

⁸ And the priests the sons of Aaron shall sound with the trumpets; and it shall be a perpetual ordinance for you throughout your generations.

⁶ Forsooth in the second sounding, and in like noise of the trump, they that dwell at the south coast shall raze their tents; and by this manner, other men shall do, when the trumps shall sound into going forth.

⁷ Forsooth when the people shall be gathered together, simple cry of trumps shall be, and the trumps shall not sound partingly.

¹⁰ If any time ye shall have a feast, and holidays, and calends, that is, the first day of the month, ye shall sing in trumps upon the burnt sacrifices, and the peaceable sacrifices, that those or they be to you into remembering of your God; I am your Lord God.

¹¹ In the second year, in the second month, in the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was raised up from the tabernacle of the bond of peace.

¹² And the sons of Israel went forth by their companies from the desert of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.

¹⁹ Forsooth in the lineage of the sons of Simeon the prince was Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai.

²⁰ Soothly in the lineage of the sons of Gad the prince was Eliasaph, the son of Deuel.

²¹ And the sons of Kohath went forth, and bare the saintuary; and they raised the tabernacle till to the coming of them.

²² Also the sons of Ephraim, by their companies, moved their tents, in whose host the prince was Elishama, the son of Ammihud.

²³ Forsooth in the lineage of the sons of Manasseh the prince was Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.

²⁴ And in the lineage of the sons of Benjamin the duke was Abidan, the son of Gideoni.

²⁵ The sons of Dan, by their com-panies, went forth the last of all the tents, in whose host the prince was Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai.

²⁶ Soothly in the lineage of the sons of Asher the prince was Pagiel, the son of Ocran.

²⁷ And in the lineage of the sons of Naphtali the prince was Ahira, the son of Enan.

⁵ but if a longer, and a parted trumping of two trumps shall sound, they that be at the east coast shall move their tents first (or then they who be on the east side shall move their tents first).

⁶ Forsooth in the second sounding, and in like noise of the trump, they that dwell at the south coast shall raze their tents (or they who live on the south side shall take down their tents); and by this manner, (the) other men shall (also) do (so), when the trumps shall sound into going forth.

⁷ Forsooth when the people shall be gathered together, (a) simple cry of trumps shall be, and the trumps shall not sound partingly. (And when the people should gather together, there shall be a simple cry of the trumpets, and they shall not sound separately.)

⁸ The sons of Aaron, the priest(s), shall sound with the trumps, and this shall be a lawful thing everlasting in your generations (or and this shall be an everlasting law in all your generations).

⁹ If ye shall go out of your land to battle against the enemies that fight against you, ye shall cry with trumps sounding, and the bethinking of you shall be before your Lord God, that ye be delivered from the hands of your enemies. (If ye shall go out of your land to do battle against the enemies who fight against you, ye shall cry with sounding trumpets, and then the remembrance of you shall be before the Lord your God, and ye shall be delivered from the hands of your enemies.)

²³ Forsooth in the lineage of the sons of Manasseh the prince was Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.

²⁴ And in the lineage of (the sons of) Benjamin the duke was Abidan, the son of Gideoni. (And in the tribe of Benjamin the leader was Abidan, the son of Gideoni.)

²⁵ (And) The sons of Dan, by their companies, went forth the last of all the tents, in whose host the prince was Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai.

²⁶ Soothly in the lineage of the sons of Asher the prince was Pagiel, the son of Ocran.

²⁷ And in the lineage of the sons of Naphtali the prince was Ahira, the son of Enan.

⁵ but if a lengere and departid trumpyng schal sowne, thei that ben at the eest coost schulen moue tentis first.

⁶ Forsothe in the secounde sown and lijk noise of the trumpe thei that dwellen at the south schulen reise tentis; and bi this maner othere men schulen do, whanne the trumpis schulen sowne in to goyng forth.

⁷ Forsothe whanne the puple schal be gederid to gidere, symple cry of trumpis schal be, and tho schulen not sowne departyngli.

⁸ The sones of Aaron preest schulen sowne with trumpis, and this schal be a lawful thing euerlastynge in youre generaciouns.

⁹ If ye schulen go out of youre lond to batel ayens enemyes that fiyten ayens you, ye schulen crye with trumpis sownynge, and the bithenkyng of you schal be bifor youre Lord God, that ye be delyuered fro the hondis of youre enemyes.

¹² And the sones of Israel yeden forth bi her cumpenyes fro deseert of Synay; and the cloude restide in the wildirnesse of Faran.

¹³ And the sones of Juda bi her cumpenyes, of whiche the prince was Naason, the sone of Amynadab, moueden first tentis,

¹⁴ bi the Lordis comaundement maad in the hond of Moises.

¹⁵ In the lynage of the sones of Ysacar the prince was Nathanael, the sone of Suar.

¹⁶ In the lynage of Sabulon the prince was Heliab, the sone of Helon.

¹⁷ And the tabernacle was takun doun, which the sones of Gerson and of Merary baren, and `yeden out.

¹⁸ And the sones of Ruben yeden forth bi her cumpenyes and ordre, of whiche the prince was Helisur, the sone of Sedeur.

²¹ And the sones of Caath yeden forth, and baren the seyntuarie; so longe the tabernacle was borun, til thei camen to the place of reisyng therof.

²² Also the sones of Effraym, bi her cumpanyes, moueden tentis, in whos oost the prince was Elisama, the sone of Amyud.

²³ Forsothe in the lynage of the sones of Manasses the prince was Gamaliel, the sone of Phadussur.

²⁴ And in the lynage of Beniamyn the duk was Abidan, the sone of Gedeon.

²⁵ The sones of Dan, bi her cumpenyes, yeden forth the laste of alle tentis, in whos oost the prince was Aizer, the sone of Amysaddai.

²⁶ Sotheli in the lynage of the sones of Aser the prince was Phegiel, the sone of Ochran.

²⁷ And in the lynage of the sones of Neptalym the prince was Haira, the sone of Henan.

⁵ 'And ye have blown — a shout, and the camps which are encamping eastward have journeyed.

⁶ 'And ye have blown — a second shout, and the camps which are encamping southward have journeyed; a shout they blow for their journeys.

⁷ 'And in the assembling of the assembly ye blow, and do not shout;

⁸ and sons of Aaron, the priests, blow with the trumpets; and they have been to you for a statute age-during to your generations.

⁹ 'And when ye go into battle in your land against the adversary who is distressing you, then ye have shouted with the trumpets, and ye have been remembered before Jehovah your God, and ye have been saved from your enemies.

¹⁰ 'And in the day of your gladness, and in your appointed seasons, and in the beginnings of your months, ye have blown also with the trumpets over your burnt-offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings, and they have been to you for a memorial before your God; I, Jehovah, am your God.'

¹¹ And it cometh to pass — in the second year, in the second month, in the twentieth of the month — the cloud hath gone up from off the tabernacle of the testimony,

¹² and the sons of Israel journey in their journeyings from the wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud doth tabernacle in the wilderness of Paran;

¹³ and they journey at first, by the command of Jehovah, in the hand of Moses.

¹⁴ And the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah journeyeth in the first place, by their hosts, and over its host is Nahshon son of Amminadab.

¹⁵ And over the host of the tribe of the sons of Issachar is Nathaneel son of Zuar.

²⁷ And over the host of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali is Ahira son of Enan.
