Matthew 5:35-45

³⁵nor by the earth, because it is a stool for His feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great King.

³⁶Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.

³⁷But let your word be ‘yes yes’, ‘no no’; for whatever is more than these is from the malignant one. !!

³⁸“You have heard that it was said: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’

³⁹But I say to you not to resist the evildoer; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

⁴⁰“And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have the cloak as well.

⁴¹And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

⁴²Give to him who asks you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

⁴³“You have heard that it was said: ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

⁴⁴But I say to you: love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

⁴⁵that you may prove to be sons of your Father in the heavens; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and He sends rain on the just and the unjust.
