³ And he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow;

⁴ and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them:

⁵ and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth:

⁶ and when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

⁷ And others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them:

⁸ and others fell upon the good ground, and yielded fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

⁹ He that hath ears, let him hear.

³ He was telling them many parables. One of the parables that he told them was this: “Listen! A man went out to his field to sow some seeds.

⁴ As he was scattering them over the soil, some of the seeds fell on the path. Then some birds came and ate those seeds.

⁵ Other seeds fell on ground where there was not much soil on top of the rock. Those seeds sprouted very soon, because the sun quickly warmed the shallow soil.

⁶ But when the young plants came up, they were scorched by the sun, and they withered because they did not have deep roots.

⁷ Other seeds fell on ground that contained roots of thorny weeds. The thorny weeds grew together with the young plants, and they crowded out the plants.

⁸ But other seeds fell on good soil, and the plants grew and produced a lot of grain. Some plants produced one hundred times as many seeds as were planted. Some plants produced sixty times as much. Some plants produced thirty times as much.

⁹ If you want to understand this MTY, you should consider carefully what I have just said.”

⁴ And while he did so, some seeds were dropped by the wayside, and the birds came and took them for food:

⁵ And some of the seed went among the stones, where it had not much earth, and straight away it came up because the earth was not deep:

⁶ And when the sun was high, it was burned; and because it had no root it became dry and dead.

⁷ And some seeds went among thorns, and the thorns came up and they had no room for growth:

⁸ And some, falling on good earth, gave fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much.

⁹ He who has ears, let him give ear.

³ And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went out to sow:

⁴ and as he sowed, some grains fell along the way, and the birds came and devoured them;

⁵ and others fell upon the rocky places where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang up out of the ground because of not having any depth of earth,

⁶ but when the sun rose they were burned up, and because of not having any root were dried up;

⁷ and others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them;

⁸ and others fell upon the good ground, and produced fruit, one a hundred, one sixty, and one thirty.

³ He explained many things to them, using stories as illustrations. “The sower went out to sow,” he began.

⁴ “As he was sowing, some of the seeds fell on the path. The birds came and ate them up.

⁵ Other seeds fell on stony ground where there wasn't much earth where they sprouted quickly.

⁶ The sun rose and scorched them and they withered because they had no roots.

⁷ Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked them.

⁸ Still other seeds fell on good soil. They produced a harvest—some one hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times what had been planted.

⁹ Anybody who has ears should be listening!”

⁸ Some againe fel in good ground, and brought forth fruite, one corne an hundreth folde, some sixtie folde, and another thirtie folde.

⁹ He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.

⁵ Some fell apon stony groude where it had not moche erth and a none it sproge vp because it had no depth of erth:

⁶ and when the sunne was vp it cauht heet and for lake of rotynge wyddred awaye.

⁷ Some fell amonge thornes and the thornes sproge vp and chooked it.

⁸ Parte fell in good ground and brought forth good frute: some an hundred fold some sixtie fold some thyrty folde.

⁹ Whosoever hath eares to heare let him heare.

⁴ And while he sowith, summe seedis felden bisidis the weie, and briddis of the eir camen, and eeten hem.

⁵ But othere seedis felden in to stony places, where thei hadden not myche erthe; and anoon thei sprongen vp, for thei hadden not depnesse of erthe.

⁶ But whanne the sonne was risun, thei swaliden, and for thei hadden not roote, thei drieden vp.

⁷ And other seedis felden among thornes; and thornes woxen vp, and strangeleden hem.

⁸ But othere seedis felden in to good lond, and yauen fruyt; summe an hundrid foold, an othir sixti foold, an othir thritti foold.
