²⁴ And from thence he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered into a house, and would have no man know it; and he could not be hid.

²⁵ But straightway a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.

²⁶ Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. And she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ And he said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs.

²⁴ After Jesus and his disciples left Galilee district, they went to the region around Tyre. While he stayed at a certain house, he desired that no one know it, but people soon found out that he was there.

²⁵ A certain woman, whose daughter had an evil spirit within her, heard about Jesus. At once she came to him and prostrated herself at his feet.

²⁶ This woman was not a Jew. Her ancestors came from Greece country, but she was born in the region around Phoenicia town in Syria district. She pleaded with Jesus that he expel the evil spirit from her daughter.

²⁷ But he wanted to see how strongly she believed in him. So, suggesting that he should help the Jews first and not the non-Jews whom some Jews called dogs MET, he spoke to her saying, “First let the children eat all they want, because it is not good for someone to take the food the mother has prepared for the children and then throw it to the little dogs.”

²⁴ From there he arose and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house and didn’t want anyone to know it, but he couldn’t escape notice.

²⁷ And he said to her, Let the children first have their food: for it is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs.

²⁴ And he rose up and went away thence into the borders of Tyre and Sidon; and having entered into a house he would not have any one know it, and he could not be hid.

²⁶ For the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophenician born. And she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

²⁷ Who said to her: Suffer first the children to be filled: for it is not good to take the bread of the children, and cast it to the dogs.

²⁴ From there He arose and He went away into the region of Tyre and Sidon. And having entered into a house, He wanted no one to know it, but He was not able to escape notice.

²⁴ Then Jesus left and went to the region of Tyre. He didn't want anyone to know he was staying in a house there, but he couldn't keep it a secret.

²⁶ The woman was Greek, born in Syrophoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive out the demon from her daughter.

²⁷ “First let the children eat until they're full,” Jesus replied. “It's not right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁴ After that Jesus left his country. He went northwards, he went to another country belonging to foreigners, to the country named Syro-Phoenicia. He was staying close to a town, its name was Tyre. He entered a house to be alone. He said to himself, “The local people don't know me. They will not recognise me.” No. In vain he tried to avoid them.

²⁵ Soon a woman of the area heard about Jesus. She was a different woman, not a Jew, from the country of Syro-Phoenicia. That woman had a daughter. An evil spirit was controlling her child. That woman left her child in the camp, she came to Jesus, she knelt in front of him, she begged him, “Send away an evil spirit from my little child.”

²⁷ Jesus replied kindly to her, “Children should eat food, then you will give food to the little dogs. Don't take the children's food to throw to the little dogs.” With that word Jesus told the woman, “I will do good for the Jewish people, not now will I do good for people from other countries. That is for later.”

²⁴ And rising up, he departed thence into the borders of Tyre; and entering into a house, he desired that no one should know it; but he could not escape notice.

²⁵ But a woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, immediately hearing of him, came in, and fell at his feet.

²⁶ The woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast out the demon from her daughter.

²⁷ And he said to her, Let the children be filled first; for it is not well to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs.

²⁴ On leaving that place, Jesus went to the district of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house, and did not wish anyone to know it, but could not escape notice.

²⁵ For a woman, whose little daughter had a foul spirit in her, heard of him immediately, and came and threw herself at his feet —

²⁶ the woman was a foreigner, from Syrian Phoenicia — and she begged him to drive the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ “Let the children be satisfied first,” answered Jesus. “For it is not fair to take the children's food, and throw it to dogs.”

²⁴ On leaving that place, Jesus went to the district of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house, and did not wish anyone to know it, but could not escape notice.

²⁴ After that Jesus got up and left Galilee country and went north to a town called Tyre. This town was near the salt water sea. The people that lived in Tyre were not Jewish people. Jesus went into a house, so he could sit down by himself for a while, but his plan didn’t work. People heard that he was in that house and they came to visit him.

²⁵ There was a Greek woman there. She came from a place called Phoenicia in Syria. Her daughter had a bad spirit inside her. So that woman went to Jesus to get help. She got down on her knees in front of Jesus, to show him respect, and she asked him to force the bad spirit out of her daughter.

²⁷ Jesus said to her, “I belong to the Jewish tribe. I have to look after my own people first, not you people that are not Jewish. A man feeds his own kids first. He will not take their food and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁴ And from thence he rose and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon and entred into an housse and wolde that no man should have knowen: But he coulde not be hyd.

²⁵ For a certayne woman whose doughter had a foule sprete hearde of him and came and fell at his fete.

²⁶ The woman was a Greke oute of Syrophenicia and she besought him that he wolde caste out the devyll oute of her doughter.

²⁷ And Iesus sayde vnto her: let the chyldren fyrst be feed. For it is not mete to take the chyldres breed and to caste it vnto whelppes.

²⁴ He got up from there and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. There he went into a house and he wanted no one to know where he was, but he could not be hidden.

²⁵ In fact , as soon a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard about him, she came and fell down at his feet.

²⁶ And the woman was (a) heathen, of the generation of Syrophenician. And she prayed him, that he would cast out a devil from her daughter, (or And she beseeched him, that he would throw a demon out of her daughter).

²⁷ And he said to her, Suffer thou (or Allow) that the children be fulfilled first or Suffer thou that the sons be filled first; for it is not good to take the bread of children, and give it to hounds.

²⁴ And Jhesus roos vp fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tyre and of Sidon. And he yede in to an hous, and wolde that no man wiste; and he myyte not be hid.

²⁵ For a womman, anoon as sche herd of hym, whos douytir hadde an vnclene spirit, entride, and fel doun at hise feet.

²⁶ And the womman was hethen, of the generacioun of Sirofenyce. And sche preiede hym, that he wolde caste out a deuel fro hir douyter.

²⁷ And he seide to hir, Suffre thou, that the children be fulfillid first; for it is not good to take the breed of children, and yyue to houndis.

²⁴ And from thence having risen, he went away to the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and having entered into the house, he wished none to know, and he was not able to be hid,

²⁵ for a woman having heard about him, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having come, fell at his feet, —

²⁶ and the woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phenician by nation — and was asking him, that the demon he may cast forth out of her daughter.
