Mark 7:19-20 in English

¹⁹ because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? This he said, making all meats clean.

²⁰ And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man.

¹⁹ Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

²⁰ And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

²⁰ And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man.

¹⁹ Instead of entering and ruining our minds/souls, it goes into our stomachs, and afterwards the refuse passes out of our bodies.” By saying this, Jesus was declaring that people can eat any food without causing God to reject them.

²⁰ He also said, “It is the thoughts and actions that come from within people that cause God to consider them unacceptable to him.

¹⁹ because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, making all foods clean?”

²⁰ He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.

²⁰ But he said that the things which come out from a man, they defile a man.

¹⁹ because it does not enter into his heart but into his stomach, and passes into the latrine, thus purifying all foods?”

²⁰ And He said, “That which comes out of a man, that defiles a man.

¹⁹ because it doesn't go into his heart, but into his stomach, which then expels the impure aspects of the food?”

²⁰ He went on to say: “That which comes out of a man, that is what defiles him.

¹⁹ It doesn't go into your mind, but into your stomach, and then passes out of the body. So all foods are ceremonially ‘clean.’

²⁰ It's what comes out of you that makes you unclean.

¹⁹ Because it entreth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught which is the purging of all meates?

²⁰ Jesus kept on teaching his followers, he said, “People think inside their heads about bad things, and they go wrong. They get up and do these bad things, and that makes them no good. These are the things they might do, – They might think about all sorts of bad things. – They might play around with anybody, and do what married people do together. – They might be greedy, wanting lots of money and things. – They might want to get something that other people have. – They might steal things. – They might murder somebody. – They might sleep with somebody else’s husband or wife, like they are married to them. – They might trick people. – They might rubbish other people. – They might think that they themselves are great. – They might only think about whatever they want for themselves. – They might do the first bad thing that comes into their mind. – They might do really stupid things. All these bad things come from people thinking the wrong way inside their heads, and these things make people no good.”

²⁰ And he sayde: that defileth a man which cometh oute of a man.

¹⁹ because it cannot go into his heart, but it goes into his stomach and then passes out into the latrine?” With this statement Jesus declared all foods clean.
