¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do.

¹⁴ And he called to him the multitude again, and said unto them, Hear me all of you, and understand:

¹⁵ there is nothing from without the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.

¹⁷ And when he was entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked of him the parable.

¹⁸ And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, it cannot defile him;

¹⁹ because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? This he said, making all meats clean.

²⁰ And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,

²² covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness:

²³ all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man.

²⁴ And from thence he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered into a house, and would have no man know it; and he could not be hid.

²⁵ But straightway a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.

²⁶ Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. And she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ And he said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs.

¹³ And, by doing that, you disregard what God commanded! You teach your own traditions to others and tell them strongly that they should obey them And you do many other things like that.”

¹⁴ Then Jesus again summoned the crowd to come closer. Then he said to them figuratively, “All of you people listen to me! Try to understand DOU what I am about to tell you.

¹⁵ Nothing that people eat causes God to consider them to be unacceptable. On the contrary, it is that which comes from people's ◄inner beings/hearts► that causes God to reject them.”

¹⁷ After Jesus had left the crowd and then entered a house with the disciples, they asked him about the parable that he had just spoken.

¹⁸ He replied, “◄ I am disappointed that you also do not understand what it means!/Why can you not understand what it means?► RHQ ◄You ought to understand that nothing that enters us from outside can cause God to consider us unacceptable to him./Can you not understand that nothing that enters us from outside of us can cause God to consider us unacceptable to him?► RHQ

¹⁹ Instead of entering and ruining our minds/souls, it goes into our stomachs, and afterwards the refuse passes out of our bodies.” By saying this, Jesus was declaring that people can eat any food without causing God to reject them.

²⁰ He also said, “It is the thoughts and actions that come from within people that cause God to consider them unacceptable to him.

²¹ Specifically, it is people's innermost being that causes them to think things that are evil; they act immorally, they steal things, they commit murder.

²² They commit adultery, they are greedy, they act maliciously, they deceive people. They act indecently, they envy people, they speak evil about others, they are proud, and they act foolishly.

²³ People think these thoughts and then they do these evil actions, and that is what causes God to consider them unacceptable to him.”

²⁴ After Jesus and his disciples left Galilee district, they went to the region around Tyre. While he stayed at a certain house, he desired that no one know it, but people soon found out that he was there.

²⁵ A certain woman, whose daughter had an evil spirit within her, heard about Jesus. At once she came to him and prostrated herself at his feet.

²⁶ This woman was not a Jew. Her ancestors came from Greece country, but she was born in the region around Phoenicia town in Syria district. She pleaded with Jesus that he expel the evil spirit from her daughter.

²⁷ But he wanted to see how strongly she believed in him. So, suggesting that he should help the Jews first and not the non-Jews whom some Jews called dogs MET, he spoke to her saying, “First let the children eat all they want, because it is not good for someone to take the food the mother has prepared for the children and then throw it to the little dogs.”

²¹ For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts,

²² covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.

²³ All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”

²⁴ From there he arose and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house and didn’t want anyone to know it, but he couldn’t escape notice.

¹⁴ And turning to the people again, he said to them, Give ear to me all of you, and let my words be clear to you:

¹⁵ There is nothing outside the man which, going into him, is able to make him unclean: but the things which come out of the man are those which make the man unclean.

¹⁷ And when he had gone into the house away from all the people, his disciples put questions to him about the saying.

¹⁸ And he said to them, Have even you so little wisdom? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside is not able to make him unclean,

¹⁹ Because it goes not into the heart but into the stomach, and goes out with the waste? He said this, making all food clean.

²⁰ And he said, That which comes out of the man, that makes the man unclean.

²¹ Because from inside, from the heart of men, come evil thoughts and unclean pleasures,

²² The taking of goods and of life, broken faith between husband and wife, the desire of wealth, wrongdoing, deceit, sins of the flesh, an evil eye, angry words, pride, foolish acts:

²³ All these evil things come from inside, and make the man unclean.

²⁴ And he went away from there to the country of Tyre and Sidon. And he went into a house, desiring that no man might have knowledge of it: and he was not able to keep it secret.

²⁵ But a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having had news of him, came straight away and went down at his feet.

²⁶ Now the woman was a Greek, a Syro-phoenician by birth: and she made a request to him that he would send the evil spirit out of her daughter.

²⁷ And he said to her, Let the children first have their food: for it is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs.

¹³ making void the word of God by your traditional teaching which ye have delivered; and many such like things ye do.

¹⁴ And having called again the crowd, he said to them, Hear me, all of you, and understand:

¹⁵ There is nothing from outside a man entering into him which can defile him; but the things which go out from him, those it is which defile the man.

¹⁶ If any one have ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁷ And when he went indoors from the crowd, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

¹⁸ And he says to them, Are ye also thus unintelligent? Do ye not perceive that all that is outside entering into the man cannot defile him,

¹⁹ because it does not enter into his heart but into his belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats?

²⁰ And he said, That which goes forth out of the man, that defiles the man.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, go forth evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

²² thefts, covetousness, wickednesses, deceit, licentiousness, a wicked eye, injurious language, haughtiness, folly;

²³ all these wicked things go forth from within and defile the man.

²⁴ And he rose up and went away thence into the borders of Tyre and Sidon; and having entered into a house he would not have any one know it, and he could not be hid.

²⁵ But immediately a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell at his feet

²⁶ (and the woman was a Greek, Syrophenician by race), and asked him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ But Jesus said to her, Suffer the children to be first filled; for it is not right to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs.

¹³ Making void the word of God by your own tradition, which you have given forth. And many other such like things you do.

¹⁴ And calling again the multitude unto him, he said to them: Hear ye me all, and understand.

¹⁵ There is nothing from without a man that entering into him, can defile him. But the things which come from a man, those are they that defile a man.

¹⁶ If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁷ And when he was come into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him the parable.

²⁵ For a woman as soon as she heard of him, whose daughter had an unclean spirit, came in and fell down at his feet.

²⁶ For the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophenician born. And she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

²⁷ Who said to her: Suffer first the children to be filled: for it is not good to take the bread of the children, and cast it to the dogs.

¹³ thus nullifying the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down. And many similar things you do.”

¹⁴ And having summoned all the crowd, He said to them, “Hear Me, all of you and understand:

¹⁵ There is nothing from outside a man, that entering into him, can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.

¹⁶ If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

¹⁷ When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples were asking Him about the parable.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, come forth evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

²² thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, arrogance, foolishness.

²³ All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

²⁴ From there He arose and He went away into the region of Tyre and Sidon. And having entered into a house, He wanted no one to know it, but He was not able to escape notice.

²⁵ For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet.

²⁶ Now the woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by race, and she was asking Him to cast the demon out from her daughter.

²⁷ But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

¹³ making the Word of God of no effect by your tradition that you have handed down. Yes, you do many such things.”

¹⁴ Upon summoning the larger crowd He said to them: “Hear me, everyone, and understand:

¹⁵ There is nothing outside a man that can defile him by going into him; rather, the things that come out of him, those are the ones that defile him.

¹⁶ If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

¹⁷ When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples started to question Him about the parable.

¹⁸ So He said to them: “Can you really be without understanding? Don't you perceive that nothing that enters a man from outside can defile him,

¹⁹ because it doesn't go into his heart, but into his stomach, which then expels the impure aspects of the food?”

²⁰ He went on to say: “That which comes out of a man, that is what defiles him.

²¹ Because from within, out of men's hearts, the evil designs proceed—adulteries, fornications, murders,

²² thefts, covetings, malignancies; deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, arrogance, foolishness—

²³ all these malignant things proceed from within and defile the man.”

²⁴ Then He got ready and went from there into the region of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house and did not want anyone to know it, but He could not escape notice.

²⁵ In fact, as soon as she heard about Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit came and fell at His feet.

²⁶ Now the woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenecian by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first; it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

¹³ By means of this tradition of yours that you pass down, you make God's word null and void. You do many other things like this.”

¹⁴ Jesus called the crowd to him again and told them, “Please, everyone listen to me and understand.

¹⁵ It's not what's on the outside and goes into you that makes you unclean. It's what comes out that makes you unclean.”

¹⁷ Then Jesus went inside to escape the crowd, and his disciples asked him about his illustration.

¹⁸ “Don't you understand it either?” he asked them. “Don't you see that what you eat doesn't make you unclean?

¹⁹ It doesn't go into your mind, but into your stomach, and then passes out of the body. So all foods are ceremonially ‘clean.’

²⁰ It's what comes out of you that makes you unclean.

²¹ It's from the inside, from people's minds, that evil thoughts come: sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

²² greed, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, pride, thoughtlessness—

²³ all these evils come from inside and defile people.”

²⁴ Then Jesus left and went to the region of Tyre. He didn't want anyone to know he was staying in a house there, but he couldn't keep it a secret.

²⁵ As soon as a woman, whose little daughter had an evil spirit, heard about him she came and fell at his feet.

²⁶ The woman was Greek, born in Syrophoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive out the demon from her daughter.

²⁷ “First let the children eat until they're full,” Jesus replied. “It's not right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs.”

¹³ Making the worde of God of none authoritie, by your tradition which ye haue ordeined: and ye doe many such like things.

¹⁴ Then he called the whole multitude vnto him, and sayd vnto them, Hearken you all vnto me, and vnderstand.

¹⁶ If any haue eares to heare, let him heare.

¹⁷ And when hee came into an house, away from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

¹⁸ And he sayde vnto them, What? are ye without vnderstanding also? Doe ye not knowe that whatsoeuer thing from without entreth into a man, cannot defile him,

¹⁹ Because it entreth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught which is the purging of all meates?

²⁰ Then he sayd, That which commeth out of man, that defileth man.

²¹ For from within, euen out of the heart of men, proceede euill thoughtes, adulteries, fornications, murthers,

²² Theftes, couetousnes, wickednes, deceite, vncleannes, a wicked eye, backbiting, pride, foolishnesse.

²³ All these euill things come from within, and defile a man.

²⁴ And from thence he rose, and went into the borders of Tyrus and Sidon, and entred into an house, and woulde that no man should haue knowen: but he could not be hid.

²⁵ For a certaine woman, whose litle daughter had an vncleane spirit, heard of him, and came, and fell at his feete,

²⁶ (And the woman was a Greeke, a Syrophenissian by nation) and she besought him that he would cast out the deuill out of her daughter.

²⁷ But Iesus saide vnto her, Let the children first be fedde: for it is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it vnto whelpes.

²⁴ After that Jesus left his country. He went northwards, he went to another country belonging to foreigners, to the country named Syro-Phoenicia. He was staying close to a town, its name was Tyre. He entered a house to be alone. He said to himself, “The local people don't know me. They will not recognise me.” No. In vain he tried to avoid them.

²⁵ Soon a woman of the area heard about Jesus. She was a different woman, not a Jew, from the country of Syro-Phoenicia. That woman had a daughter. An evil spirit was controlling her child. That woman left her child in the camp, she came to Jesus, she knelt in front of him, she begged him, “Send away an evil spirit from my little child.”

²⁷ Jesus replied kindly to her, “Children should eat food, then you will give food to the little dogs. Don't take the children's food to throw to the little dogs.” With that word Jesus told the woman, “I will do good for the Jewish people, not now will I do good for people from other countries. That is for later.”

¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have handed down; and many such things ye do.

¹⁴ And again calling the multitude to him, he said to them, Hearken to me all of you, and understand.

¹⁵ Nothing that entereth into a man from without can defile him; but the things that come out of him are what defile a man.

¹⁷ And when he had gone into the house from the crowd, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

¹⁸ And he saith to them, Are ye too so without discernment? Do ye not understand that whatever thing from without entereth into a man, cannot defile him?

¹⁹ because it entereth not into his heart, but into the stomach; and goeth out into the drain, which cleanseth all kinds of food.

²⁰ And he said, That which cometh out of a man, that defileth a man.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, come forth evil thoughts, fornications,

²² thefts, murders, adulteries, covetousness, iniquities, deceit, wantonness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

²³ All these evil things come from within, and defile a man.

²⁴ And rising up, he departed thence into the borders of Tyre; and entering into a house, he desired that no one should know it; but he could not escape notice.

²⁵ But a woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, immediately hearing of him, came in, and fell at his feet.

²⁶ The woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast out the demon from her daughter.

²⁷ And he said to her, Let the children be filled first; for it is not well to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs.

¹³ In this way you nullify the words of God by your traditions, which you hand down; and you do many similar things.”

¹³ In that way you take God’s word away from people so that they will just follow the rules that you made up. You do all sorts of things like that all the time.”

¹⁴ Then Jesus called out to all the people to come and listen to him. He said, “Listen to me, everyone, and try to understand what I’m saying.

¹⁵ Don’t worry about what goes into your mouth but worry about what comes out of it. If God hears bad things come out of your mouth he will say that you are no good inside.”

¹⁷ After that Jesus stopped talking to all the people and went into his house to take a break. His followers went in with him, and they asked him what he meant by the words he just told the people.

¹⁸ Jesus said, “What is wrong with you? Don’t you understand me? Listen. If you eat something, it goes into your stomach and some time later it goes out of your body into the toilet. It doesn’t go into your brains. So God will not say, ‘You ate the wrong food and made yourself no good.’ No, he will not say that.” (Jesus said this about food and made it clear for us that all kinds of food are all right.)

²⁰ Jesus kept on teaching his followers, he said, “People think inside their heads about bad things, and they go wrong. They get up and do these bad things, and that makes them no good. These are the things they might do, – They might think about all sorts of bad things. – They might play around with anybody, and do what married people do together. – They might be greedy, wanting lots of money and things. – They might want to get something that other people have. – They might steal things. – They might murder somebody. – They might sleep with somebody else’s husband or wife, like they are married to them. – They might trick people. – They might rubbish other people. – They might think that they themselves are great. – They might only think about whatever they want for themselves. – They might do the first bad thing that comes into their mind. – They might do really stupid things. All these bad things come from people thinking the wrong way inside their heads, and these things make people no good.”

²⁴ After that Jesus got up and left Galilee country and went north to a town called Tyre. This town was near the salt water sea. The people that lived in Tyre were not Jewish people. Jesus went into a house, so he could sit down by himself for a while, but his plan didn’t work. People heard that he was in that house and they came to visit him.

²⁵ There was a Greek woman there. She came from a place called Phoenicia in Syria. Her daughter had a bad spirit inside her. So that woman went to Jesus to get help. She got down on her knees in front of Jesus, to show him respect, and she asked him to force the bad spirit out of her daughter.

²⁷ Jesus said to her, “I belong to the Jewish tribe. I have to look after my own people first, not you people that are not Jewish. A man feeds his own kids first. He will not take their food and throw it to the dogs.”

¹³ makinge the worde of God of none effecte through youre awne tradicions which ye have ordeyned. And many soche thinges ye do.

¹⁴ And he called all the people vnto him and sayde vnto them: Herken vnto me every one of you and vnderstonde.

¹⁵ There is no thinge with out a man that can defyle him when it entreth into him: but thoo thinges which procede out of him are those which defyle the man.

¹⁶ If eny man have eares to heare let him heare

¹⁷ And when he came to house awaye from the people his disciples axed him of the similitude.

¹⁸ And he sayd vnto them: Are ye so without vnderstondinge? Do ye not yet perceave that whatsoever thinge from with out entreth into a man it can not defyle him

¹⁹ because it entrith not in to his hert but into the belly: and goeth out into the draught that porgeth oute all meates.

²⁰ And he sayde: that defileth a man which cometh oute of a man.

²¹ For from with in even oute of the herte of men proceade evill thoughtes: advantry fornicacion murder

²² theeft coveteousnes wickednes diceyte vnclennes and a wicked eye blasphemy pryde folysshnes:

²³ all these evyll thinges come from with in and defile a man.

²⁴ And from thence he rose and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon and entred into an housse and wolde that no man should have knowen: But he coulde not be hyd.

²⁶ The woman was a Greke oute of Syrophenicia and she besought him that he wolde caste out the devyll oute of her doughter.

²⁷ And Iesus sayde vnto her: let the chyldren fyrst be feed. For it is not mete to take the chyldres breed and to caste it vnto whelppes.

¹³ You are making the commandment of God void by your tradition which you have handed down. And many similar things you do.”

¹⁴ He called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, all of you, and understand.

¹⁵ There is nothing from outside of a person that can defile him when it enters into him. It is what comes out of the person that defiles him.”

¹⁷ Now when Jesus left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

¹⁸ Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? Do you not see that whatever enters into a person from outside cannot defile him,

¹⁹ because it cannot go into his heart, but it goes into his stomach and then passes out into the latrine?” With this statement Jesus declared all foods clean.

²⁰ He said, “It is that which comes out of the person that defiles him.

²² adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, folly.

²² fornycaciouns, mansleyingis, theftis, auaricis, wickidnessis, gile, vnchastite, yuel iye, blasfemyes, pride, foli.

²³ Alle these yuels comen forth fro with ynne, and defoulen a man.

²⁴ And Jhesus roos vp fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tyre and of Sidon. And he yede in to an hous, and wolde that no man wiste; and he myyte not be hid.

²⁶ And the womman was hethen, of the generacioun of Sirofenyce. And sche preiede hym, that he wolde caste out a deuel fro hir douyter.

²⁷ And he seide to hir, Suffre thou, that the children be fulfillid first; for it is not good to take the breed of children, and yyue to houndis.

²² thefts, covetous desires, wickedness, deceit, arrogance, an evil eye, evil speaking, pride, foolishness;

²³ all these evils do come forth from within, and they defile the man.'

²⁴ And from thence having risen, he went away to the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and having entered into the house, he wished none to know, and he was not able to be hid,

²⁵ for a woman having heard about him, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having come, fell at his feet, —

²⁶ and the woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phenician by nation — and was asking him, that the demon he may cast forth out of her daughter.

²⁷ And Jesus said to her, 'Suffer first the children to be filled, for it is not good to take the children's bread, and to cast it to the little dogs.'
