⁶ And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages teaching.

⁷ And he calleth unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits;

⁸ and he charged them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse;

⁹ but to go shod with sandals: and, said he, put not on two coats.

¹⁰ And he said unto them, Wheresoever ye enter into a house, there abide till ye depart thence.

¹¹ And whatsoever place shall not receive you, and they hear you not, as ye go forth thence, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony unto them.

¹² And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

¹³ And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

⁶ He was amazed that they did not believe in him. Mark 6:6b-13 Jesus and his disciples went from town to town in that region teaching the people.

⁷ One day he summoned the twelve disciples, and then he told them that he was going to send them out two-by-two to teach people in various towns. He gave them power to expel evil spirits from people.

⁸ He also instructed them to wear sandals and to take along a walking stick when they were traveling. He told them not to take food, nor a bag in which travelers carry supplies, nor any money for their journey. He also did not allow them to take extra clothing. He wanted the people who heard their message to give them what they needed.

¹⁰ He also instructed them, “After you enter a town, if someone invites you to stay in his house, go into his house. Eat and sleep in that same home until you leave that town.

¹¹ Wherever the people do not welcome you and wherever the people do not listen to you, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that place. By doing that, you will warn them that God will punish them for rejecting your message.”

¹² So after the disciples went out to various towns, they were preaching that people should stop their sinful behavior.

¹³ They were also expelling many evil spirits from people, and they were anointing many sick people with olive oil and healing them.

⁶ And he was greatly surprised because they had no faith. And he went about the country places teaching.

⁷ And he gave orders to the twelve, and sent them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits;

⁸ And he said that they were to take nothing for their journey, but a stick only; no bread, no bag, no money in their pockets;

⁹ They were to go with common shoes on their feet, and not to take two coats.

¹⁰ And he said to them, Wherever you go into a house, make that your resting-place till you go away.

¹¹ And whatever place will not take you in and will not give ear to you, when you go away, put off the dust from your feet as a witness against them.

¹² And they went out, preaching the need for a change of heart in men.

¹³ And they sent out a number of evil spirits, and put oil on a great number who were ill, and made them well.

⁶ And he wondered because of their unbelief. And he went round the villages in a circuit, teaching.

⁷ And he calls the twelve to him; and he began to send them out two and two, and gave to them power over the unclean spirits;

⁸ and he commanded them that they should take nothing for the way, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their belt;

⁹ but be shod with sandals, and put not on two body-coats.

¹⁰ And he said to them, Wheresoever ye shall enter into a house, there remain till ye shall go thence.

¹¹ And whatsoever place shall not receive you nor hear you, departing thence, shake off the dust which is under your feet for a testimony to them.

¹² And they went forth and preached that they should repent;

¹³ and they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many infirm, and healed them.

¹¹ And as many as do not receive you nor hear you, as you leave from there, shake off the dust underneath your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom or for Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment than for that city!”

¹² So they went out and started preaching that people should repent,

¹³ and they were casting out many demons, and anointing with oil and healing many who were sick.

⁶ He was amazed at their lack of trust. Jesus traveled around the villages, teaching as he went.

⁷ He called together the twelve disciples, and began sending them out two by two, giving them authority over evil spirits.

⁸ He told them not to take anything with them except a walking stick—no bread, no bag, and no money in their belts.

⁹ They could wear sandals, but they were not to take an extra shirt.

¹⁰ “When you're invited into a home, stay there until you leave,” he told them.

¹¹ “If you're not welcomed and not listened to, then shake the dust from your feet as you leave as a sign you have given up on them.”

¹² So they went around telling people to repent.

¹³ They drove out many demons, and healed many who were sick by anointing them with oil.

⁶ And he marueiled at their vnbeliefe, and went about by ye townes on euery side, teaching.

⁷ And he called vnto him the twelue, and began to send them forth two and two, and gaue them power ouer vncleane spirits,

⁸ And commanded them that they should take nothing for their iourney, saue a staffe onely: neither scrip, neither bread, neither money in their girdles:

⁹ But that they should be shod with sandals, and that they should not put on two coates.

¹⁰ And he sayd vnto them, Wheresoeuer ye shall enter into an house, there abide till ye depart thence.

¹¹ And whosoeuer shall not receiue you, nor heare you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust that is vnder your feete, for a witnes vnto them. Verely I say vnto you, It shalbe easier for Sodom, or Gomorrha at the day of iudgement, then for that citie.

⁶ Jesus was going to towns, he was teaching them about God's word.

^7a After that he called his men,

^7c he told them, I will send you to people, you will tell them about God. I told you this word. From now on you send evil spirits from people. You go, do not take money or food.

⁹ Put on shoes, take only one set of clothes. Leave other clothes behind.

¹⁰ Perhaps in some towns a person will say to you, 'Come here, stay a little while with us.' At that time you will stay in his camp in that town.

¹¹ Perhaps you will come to other towns, they will ignore you, they will not ask you to stay in their town, they will not listen to God's word. If they do that do not stay in that town. Brush the dust from your shoes. When you do that you will show them God will be angry with them after ignoring his word. Then leave that town.

^12a Yes, that is all. Go by twos.”

^12b After that they went. As they were going they were telling people, “You have been ignoring God. Leave doing wrong and believe in God!”

¹³ They were sending away many evil spirits, they put medicine on many sick people, they were asking God, “Will you make this person well.” After that the sick person became well. God made them well.

⁶ And he wondered at their want of faith. And he went about the surrounding villages teaching.

⁷ And he calleth to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over the unclean spirits;

⁸ and commanded them that they should take nothing for the way but a staff only; no bread, no bag, no money in their girdle;

⁹ but to be shod with sandals; and, Do not put on two coats.

¹¹ Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom Burning and Gomorrah Rebellious people, Tyrants in the day of judgment than for that city!”

¹² They went out and preached that people should teshuvah ·turn repent·.

¹³ They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.

⁷ Jesus called together his 12 close followers. He told them, “You have to go to every community and tell my message to the people. Let them take care of you when you go there. Don’t take a bag, or food, or money or spare clothes with you. Just take your sandals and a walking stick. After you get to a community, and that community is happy for you to stay, you have to camp in only one house. Don’t move around to different houses. But if a community doesn’t want to have you there, and if they will not listen to you, then you have to go away from it. As you leave it, shake the dust off your feet. That will show that mob that they will get trouble. It will be like you are telling them, ‘You didn’t take notice of my message, so God will judge you and punish you.’” And Jesus told his close followers, “I’m giving you my power now to force bad spirits out from people.” Then Jesus split them into 6 teams with 2 men in each team, and sent them out to do God’s work.

¹² The teams did as Jesus told them. They went to other communities and told everyone to turn around, change their lives and come back to God’s way.

¹³ Those men sent a lot of bad spirits out of people. And they put olive oil on a lot of sick people, like medicine for them, and those sick people got better.

⁶ And he merveyled at their vnbelefe. And he went aboute by the tounes that laye on every syde teachynge.

⁷ And he called the twelve and beganne to sende them two and two and gave them power over vnclene spretes.

⁸ And commaunded the that they shuld take nothinge vnto their Iorney save a rodde only: Nether scrippe nether breed nether mony in their pourses:

⁹ but shuld be shood with sandals. And that they shuld not put on two coottes.

¹⁰ And he sayd vnto them: whersoever ye entre in to an house there abyde tyll ye departe thence

¹¹ And whosoever shall not receave you nor heare you when ye departe thence shake of the duste that is vnder youre fete for a witnesse vnto them. I saye verely vnto you it shalbe easyer for zodom and Gomor at the daye of iudgement then for that cite.

⁹ but shod with sandals, and that they should not be clothed with two coats.

¹⁰ And he said to them, Whither ever ye enter into an house, dwell ye there, till ye go out from thence.

¹¹ And whoever receive you not, nor hear you, go ye out from thence, and shake away the powder from your feet, into witnessing to them.

¹² And they went forth, and preached, that men should do penance.

¹³ And they casted out many fiends, and anointed with oil many sick men, and they were healed.

⁶ And he wondered for the unbelief of them. And he went about (the) castles on each side, and taught. (And he wondered at their unbelief. And he went about the villages on each side, and taught.)

⁷ And he called together (the) twelve, and began to send them by two together; and gave to them power of unclean spirits (or and gave them power over unclean spirits),

⁸ and commanded (to) them, that they should not take anything in the way, (or that they should not take anything on the way, or for the journey), but a staff or a rod only, not a scrip, nor bread, neither money in the girdle,

⁹ but shod with sandals, and that they should not be clothed with two coats.

¹⁰ And he said to them, Whither ever ye enter into an house, dwell ye there, till ye go out from thence.

¹¹ And whoever receive you not, nor hear you, go ye out from thence, and shake away the powder from your feet, into witnessing to them. (And whoever will not receive you, or listen to you, go ye out from there, and shake off the dust from your feet, as a testimony against them.)

¹² And they went forth, and preached, that men should do penance (or that men should repent).

⁶ And he wondride for the vnbileue of hem. And he wente aboute casteles on ech side, and tauyte.

⁷ And he clepide togidere twelue, and bigan to sende hem bi two togidere; and yaf to hem power of vnclene spiritis,

⁸ and comaundide hem, that thei schulde not take ony thing in the weie, but a yerde oneli, not a scrippe, ne breed, nether money in the girdil,

⁹ but schod with sandalies, and that thei schulden not be clothid with twei cootis.

¹⁰ And he seide to hem, Whidur euer ye entren in to an hous, dwelle ye there, til ye goon out fro thennus.

¹¹ And who euer resseyueth you not, ne herith you, go ye out fro thennus, and schake awei the powdir fro youre feet, in to witnessyng to hem.

¹² And thei yeden forth, and prechiden, that men schulden do penaunce.

¹³ And thei castiden out many feendis, and anoyntiden with oyle many sijk men, and thei weren heelid.

⁶ and he wondered because of their unbelief. And he was going round the villages, in a circle, teaching,

⁷ and he doth call near the twelve, and he began to send them forth two by two, and he was giving them power over the unclean spirits,

⁸ and he commanded them that they may take nothing for the way, except a staff only — no scrip, no bread, no brass in the girdle,

⁹ but having been shod with sandals, and ye may not put on two coats.

¹⁰ And he said to them, 'Whenever ye may enter into a house, there remain till ye may depart thence,

¹¹ and as many as may not receive you, nor hear you, going out thence, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony to them; verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom or Gomorrah in a day of judgment than for that city.'

¹² And having gone forth they were preaching that men might reform,

¹³ and many demons they were casting out, and they were anointing with oil many infirm, and they were healing them.
