⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many.

¹⁰ And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹¹ Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding.

¹² And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

¹³ And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, in number about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea.

¹⁴ And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass.

¹⁵ And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, even him that had the legion: and they were afraid.

¹⁶ And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine.

¹⁷ And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.

¹⁸ And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee.

²⁰ And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled.

²¹ And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat unto the other side, a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea.

²² And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jaïrus by name; and seeing him, he falleth at his feet,

²³ and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death: I pray thee, that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be made whole, and live.

²⁴ And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him.

²⁵ And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁶ and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

²⁷ having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.

¹⁷ And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

¹⁸ And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

²⁰ And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

²¹ And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

²² And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

²³ And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

²⁴ And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

²⁵ And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁶ And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

²⁷ When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

²⁷ having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.

⁹ So, in order to expel the demon more easily, Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Crowd/Mob because there are many of us evil spirits in this man.”

¹⁰ Then the evil spirits fervently kept begging Jesus that he not send them out of the region.

¹¹ At the same time, a large herd of pigs was ◄grazing/rooting for food► nearby on the hillside.

¹² So the evil spirits pleaded with Jesus, “Allow us to go to the pigs in order that we might enter them!”

¹³ He permitted them to do that. So the evil spirits left the man and entered the pigs. The herd, which numbered about 2,000, rushed down the cliff into the lake, and drowned in the lake.

¹⁴ The men who had been tending the pigs ran and reported in the town and the countryside what had happened. Many people went to see what had happened.

¹⁵ They came to the place where Jesus was. Then they saw the man whom evil spirits had previously controlled. He was sitting there with clothes on and mentally sound. As a result, they became afraid because they thought that Jesus might destroy more of their property. (OR, they realized that Jesus must be very powerful.)

¹⁶ The people who had seen what had happened described what had happened to the man whom the evil spirits previously controlled. They also described what had happened to the pigs.

¹⁷ Then the people pleaded with Jesus to leave their region.

¹⁸ As Jesus got in the boat in order to leave, the man whom the evil spirits previously controlled begged Jesus, “ Please let me go with you!”

¹⁹ But Jesus did not let him go with him. On the contrary, he said to him, “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord God has done for you, and tell them how God was kind to you.”

²⁰ So the man left and traveled around the Ten Towns district. He told people how much Jesus had done for him. All the people who heard what the man said were amazed.

²¹ Jesus and his disciples went in a boat back around Lake Galilee to where they were before. When they arrived at the shore of the lake, a large crowd gathered around Jesus.

²² One of the men who presided over a ◄synagogue/Jewish meeting place►, whose name was Jairus, came there. When he saw Jesus, he prostrated himself at his feet.

²³ Then he pleaded with Jesus earnestly, “My twelve-year old daughter is sick and nearly dead! Please come to my house and place your hands on her in order that she will be healed {to heal her}, so that she will not die!”

²⁴ So Jesus and the disciples went with him. A large crowd followed Jesus and many pushed close to him.

²⁵ There was a woman in the crowd who had vaginal bleeding EUP every day for twelve years.

²⁶ She had suffered much while many doctors treated her. But although she had spent all her money to pay the doctors, she had not been helped {they had not helped her}. Instead, she had become worse EUP.

²⁷ After she heard that Jesus healed people, she came to where he was and pushed in the crowd close behind Jesus.

⁹ He asked him, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”

¹⁰ He begged him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹¹ Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding.

¹² All the demons begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.”

¹³ At once Jesus gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.

¹⁴ Those who fed the pigs fled, and told it in the city and in the country. The people came to see what it was that had happened.

¹⁵ They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid.

¹⁶ Those who saw it declared to them what happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs.

¹⁷ They began to beg him to depart from their region.

¹⁰ And he made strong prayers to him not to send them away out of the country.

¹¹ Now on the mountain side there was a great herd of pigs getting their food.

¹² And they said to him, Send us into the pigs, so that we may go into them.

¹³ And he let them do it. And the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs; and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they came to their death in the sea.

¹⁴ And their keepers went running and gave an account of it in the town and in the country. And people came to see what had taken place.

¹⁵ And they came to Jesus, and saw the man in whom had been the evil spirits seated, clothed and with full use of his senses, and they were full of fear.

¹⁶ And those who had seen it gave them an account of what had been done to him who had the evil spirits, and of the fate of the pigs.

¹⁷ And they made a request to him to go out of their country.

¹⁸ And when he was getting into the boat, the man in whom had been the evil spirits had a great desire to come with him.

¹⁹ And he would not let him, but said to him, Go to your house, to your friends, and give them news of the great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.

²⁰ And he went on his way, and made public in the country of Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him: and all men were full of wonder.

²¹ And when Jesus had gone over again in the boat to the other side, a great number of people came to him: and he was by the sea.

²² And one of the rulers of the Synagogue, Jairus by name, came, and seeing him, went down at his feet,

²³ And made strong prayers to him, saying, My little daughter is near to death: it is my prayer that you will come and put your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and have life.

²⁴ And he went with him; and a great number of people went after him, and came round him.

²⁵ And a woman, who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,

²⁶ And had undergone much at the hands of a number of medical men, and had given all she had, and was no better, but even worse,

²⁷ When she had news of the things which Jesus did, went among the people coming after him, and put her hand on his robe.

⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he says to him, Legion is my name, because we are many.

¹⁰ And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹¹ Now there was there just at the mountain a great herd of swine feeding;

¹² and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.

¹³ And Jesus immediately allowed them. And the unclean spirits going out entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep slope, into the sea (about two thousand), and were choked in the sea.

¹⁴ And those that were feeding them fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had taken place.

¹⁵ And they come to Jesus, and they see the possessed of demons sitting and clothed and sensible, him that had had the legion: and they were afraid.

¹⁶ And they that had seen it related to them how it had happened to the man possessed by demons, and concerning the swine.

¹⁷ And they began to beg him to depart from their coasts.

¹⁸ And as he went on board ship, the man that had been possessed by demons besought him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ And he suffered him not, but says to him, Go to thine home to thine own people, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for thee, and has had mercy on thee.

²⁰ And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.

²¹ And Jesus having passed over in the ship again to the other side, a great crowd gathered to him; and he was by the sea.

²² And behold there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and seeing him, falls down at his feet;

²³ and he besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at extremity; I pray that thou shouldest come and lay thy hands upon her so that she may be healed, and may live.

²⁴ And he went with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed on him.

²⁵ And a certain woman who had had a flux of blood twelve years,

²⁶ and had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent everything she had and had found no advantage from it, but had rather got worse,

²⁷ having heard concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind and touched his clothes;

⁹ And he asked him: What is thy name? And he saith to him: My name is Legion, for we are many.

¹⁰ And he besought him much, that he would not drive him away out of the country.

¹¹ And there was there near the mountain a great herd of swine, feeding.

¹² And the spirits besought him, saying: Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

¹³ And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits going out, entered into the swine: and the herd with great violence was carried headlong into the sea, being about two thousand, and were stifled in the sea.

¹⁴ And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city and in the fields. And they went out to see what was done:

¹⁵ And they came to Jesus, and they see him that was troubled with the devil, sitting, clothed, and well in his wits, and they were afraid.

¹⁶ And they that had seen it, told them, in what manner he had been dealt with who had the devil; and concerning the swine.

¹⁷ And they began to pray him that he would depart from their coasts.

¹⁸ And when he went up into the ship, he that had been troubled with the devil, began to beseech him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ And he admitted him not, but saith to him: Go into thy house to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had mercy on thee.

²⁰ And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men wondered.

²¹ And when Jesus had passed again in the ship over the strait, a great multitude assembled together unto him, and he was nigh unto the sea.

²² And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue named Jairus: and seeing him, falleth down at his feet.

²³ And he besought him much, saying: My daughter is at the point of death, come, lay thy hand upon her, that she may be safe, and may live.

²⁴ And he went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him.

²⁵ And a woman who was under an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁶ And had suffered many things from many physicians; and had spent all that she had, and was nothing the better, but rather worse,

²⁷ When she had heard of Jesus, came in the crowd behind him, and touched his garment.

⁹ And He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”

¹⁰ And he was imploring Him many times that He would not send them out of the region.

¹¹ Now there was a large herd of swine feeding there near the mountain.

¹² So all the demons implored Him, saying, “Send us into the swine, that we may enter them.”

¹³ And immediately Jesus gave them permission. And when the unclean spirits came out, they entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, (there were about two thousand) and drowned in the sea.

¹⁴ But those feeding the swine fled, and they reported it in the city and in the country. And they came out to see what it was that had happened.

¹⁵ Then they came to Jesus, and observed him who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and having been clothed and being of sound mind, and they were afraid.

¹⁶ And those who saw it related to them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine.

¹⁷ Then they began to implore Him to go away from their region.

¹⁸ And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed implored Him that he might be with Him.

¹⁹ But Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your own family, and report to them all the things that the Lord has done for you, and how He had compassion on you.”

²⁰ And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all the things Jesus did for him; and all were marveling.

²¹ Now when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd was gathered to Him; and He was beside the sea.

²² And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus. And seeing Him, he fell at His feet,

²³ and was imploring Him many times, saying, “My little daughter is near death, please come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed, and live.”

²⁴ And He went away with him. And a large crowd was following Him, and they were pressing against Him.

²⁵ Now a certain woman, suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years,

²⁶ and who had suffered many things under many physicians, and who had spent everything at her disposal, and was no better, but rather having become worse,

²⁷ when she heard about Jesus, she came from behind Him in the crowd and touched His clothing.

⁹ Then He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “Legion is my name, because we are many.”

¹⁰ He started begging Him repeatedly that He would not send them out of that region.

¹¹ Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside.

¹² So all the demons begged Him saying, “Send us into the pigs, so that we may enter them.”

¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them permission; and coming out the unclean spirits went into the pigs (there were about two thousand); but the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned by the sea.

¹⁴ So those who were tending the pigs ran off and reported it in the town and the countryside. And they went out to see what it was that had happened.

¹⁵ They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demonized, who had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

¹⁶ Those who had seen it related to them how it happened to the demonized man, and about the pigs.

¹⁷ Then they began to implore Him to depart from their borders.

¹⁸ Well upon His getting into the boat, the man who had been demonized started begging Him that he might be with Him.

¹⁹ But Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your family and report to them how much the Lord has done for you; and He had mercy on you.”

²⁰ So he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him; and all were marveling.

²¹ Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered to Him; and He was by the sea.

²² And then, one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, comes, and upon finding Him he falls at His feet

²³ and pleads earnestly with Him, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; do come and lay your hands on her so that she may be saved, and she will live.”

²⁴ So He went with him. A large crowd was also following Him, and they were pressing around Him.

²⁵ Now a certain woman—who had been bleeding for twelve years,

²⁶ and had suffered many things under many doctors, and had spent all that she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse—

²⁷ when she heard about Jesus, she came from behind in the crowd and touched His garment.

⁹ Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion, because we are many!” he replied.

¹⁰ He also repeatedly pleaded with Jesus not to send them a long way away.

¹¹ A large herd of pigs was feeding on the hillside nearby.

¹² The evil spirits pleaded with him, “Send us into the pigs so we can enter them.”

¹³ Jesus allowed them to do this. The evil spirits left the man and went into the pigs. The whole herd, about two thousand, rushed down the steep cliff into the sea and drowned.

¹⁴ The pig-keepers ran away, and spread the news all over town and in the countryside. People came out to see what had happened.

¹⁵ When they found Jesus they saw the man who had been demon-possessed sitting there, dressed, and in his right mind—the one who had the legion of evil spirits—and they became frightened!

¹⁶ Then those who had seen what had happened to the man who had been demon-possessed and the pigs told the others.

¹⁷ They began pleading with Jesus to leave their district.

¹⁸ As Jesus climbed into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him.

¹⁹ But Jesus refused, telling him, “Go home to your own people, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has been merciful to you.”

²⁰ So the man went on his way and began to tell the people of the Ten Cities everything Jesus had done for him, and everyone was amazed.

²¹ Jesus went back again by boat to the other side of the lake where a large crowd gathered around him at the shore.

²² A synagogue leader, a man named Jairus, came to him. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet

²³ and pleaded with him, saying, “My little daughter is about to die. Please come and place your hands on her so she may be healed and live.”

²⁴ So Jesus went with him. Everybody followed, crowding and jostling him.

²⁵ A woman was there who had been ill from bleeding for twelve years.

²⁶ She'd suffered considerably under the care of many doctors, and had spent all she had. But nothing helped her—in fact she'd grown worse.

²⁷ She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd, and touched his cloak.

⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? and hee answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

¹⁰ And hee prayed him instantly, that hee would not send them away out of the countrey.

¹¹ Now there was there in the mountaines a great heard of swine, feeding.

¹² And all ye deuils besought him, saying, Send vs into the swine, that we may enter into them.

¹³ And incontinently Iesus gaue them leaue. Then the vncleane spirites went out, and entred into the swine, and the heard ranne headlong from the high banke into the sea, (and there were about two thousand swine) and they were choked vp in the sea.

¹⁴ And the swineheards fled, and told it in the citie, and in the countrey, and they came out to see what it was that was done.

¹⁵ And they came to Iesus, and sawe him that had bene possessed with the deuil, and had the legion, sit both clothed, and in his right minde: and they were afraide.

¹⁶ And they that saw it, tolde them, what was done to him that was possessed with the deuil, and concerning the swine.

¹⁷ Then they began to pray him, that hee would depart from their coastes.

¹⁸ And when he was come into the shippe, he that had bene possessed with the deuil, prayed him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ Howbeit, Iesus would not suffer him, but said vnto him, Goe thy way home to thy friendes, and shewe them what great thinges the Lord hath done vnto thee, and howe hee hath had compassion on thee.

²⁰ So he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis, what great things Iesus had done vnto him: and all men did marueile.

²¹ And when Iesus was come ouer againe by ship vnto the other side, a great multitude gathered together to him, and he was neere vnto the sea.

²² And beholde, there came one of the rulers of the Synagogue, whose name was Iairus: and when he sawe him, he fell downe at his feete,

²³ And besought him instantly, saying, My litle daughter lyeth at point of death: I pray thee that thou wouldest come and lay thine hands on her, that she may be healed, and liue.

²⁴ Then hee went with him, and a great multitude folowed him, and thronged him.

²⁶ And had suffred many things of many physicions, and had spent all that she had, and it auailed her nothing, but she became much worse.

¹⁶ And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

⁹ Jesus asked the man, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is 'Many'. We are many spirits.”

¹⁰ They were asking him, “Do not send us from this country.”

¹¹ On that rise there were pigs, many of them, 2,000, they were eating green grass.

¹² The spirits begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs. How about it? Can we go into them?”

¹³ He said to them, “Yes, you can go to the pigs.” Right then they left that man, they all went to the pigs, the spirits went into them. Right then all the pigs ran down from the hill, they went straight into the water, they died in the water.

¹⁴ The people who looked after the pigs scattered, they ran away afraid. They told many from the town and country. After that many came to see.

¹⁵ When they came to Jesus they saw that man who used to be crazy there. He was sitting near Jesus, he had clothes on, he was without evil spirits, not crazy, he was well. After seeing him they became afraid.

¹⁶ There were others who were standing there. Earlier they saw the pigs go into the water. They told those as soon as they came, “This Jesus sent the spirits from the man to the pigs. After that they ran down from the hill, they went into the waterhole, the water drowned all the pigs, they are completely dead.”

¹⁷ After that the local inhabitants told Jesus, “Go. Leave our country.”

¹⁸ Then Jesus climbed in the dinghy. The man who had become well asked Jesus, “Can I come with you?”

¹⁹ He replied, “No. Return to your people. Tell them God was sorry for you, he truly made you well.”

²⁰ In response to his word that man after he returned was going around in that country, in the east, in the 10 towns. He went to all people. He was telling them, “God made it very good for me. Jesus sent the spirits from me. He healed me.” They all were pleased, they were wondering about Jesus.

^21a Then Jesus returned westwards to the other side of the waterhole.

^21b Many people gathered with Jesus at the edge of the waterhole.

²² A man came, his name was Jairus. He was boss for the meeting house in his town. As soon as he saw Jesus he kneeled down in front of him.

²³ He begged him, “My young daughter is very sick, she might die. Come to my camp, touch her with your hand. After that she will not die, she will truly stay alive.”

²⁴ Jesus went with him, many were following those two. The people were squashing each other.

²⁵ This woman also followed him. That woman had been sick a long time, 12 years. She truly kept losing blood (lit. 'blood kept crawling for her'), it was a big sickness.

²⁶ She used to go to various doctors. They did not heal her. Hers was a big sickness. After that she had no money, still she was staying sick.

²⁷ She heard, “Jesus heals sick people.” After she heard she said to herself, “I will touch just his clothes. After I touch him I will truly become well, I will be without sickness.” She did that. Partway along she came close to him, from behind she touched his clothes.

⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, Legion is my name; for we are many.

²¹ When Yeshua Salvation had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.

²⁷ having heard the things concerning Yeshua Salvation, came up behind him in the crowd, and touched his clothes.

⁹ Jesus asked the man, “What is your name?” He said, “My name is Big Mob. You see, we are a mob of bad spirits inside this man.

¹⁰ Please don’t send us away from this country.”

¹¹ There were about 2,000 pigs having a feed on the hill nearby.

¹² The bad spirits asked Jesus, “Can we go into that big mob of pigs over there?”

¹³ Jesus let those bad spirits go out of the man and go into the pigs. Then those pigs went mad and ran down the steep hill into the lake and drowned themselves in the water.

¹⁴ The men that looked after the pigs were frightened and they ran back to their community and told everyone what happened. They talked to the people in the town and the people that lived outside of the town too. A lot of people wanted to see for themselves,

¹⁵ so they ran out to that place where Jesus was. They saw that man sitting down quiet and wearing clothes. He wasn’t mad any more. Then those people got frightened.

¹⁶ The men that looked after the pigs told them the whole story about the man and the pigs.

¹⁷ Then all that mob started to ask Jesus strongly to go away from their country and leave them alone.

¹⁸ Jesus listened to them and started to get into the boat. Then the man, that used to have the bad spirits in him, asked Jesus strongly, “Can I come with you?”

¹⁹ Jesus said, “No, I want you to go back to your family and to your own mob. I want you to tell everybody about the good things God did for you. Tell them that God was really good to you.”

²⁰ Then that man went all over that country called Ten Towns and told everybody that story. He told them all about the good things Jesus did for him. Everybody got a really big surprise.

²¹ Jesus and his followers got back into the boat and went to the other side of the lake. A really big mob of people was waiting for them there beside the water.

²² A man called Jairus came up to them. He was one of the bosses of a Jewish meeting place. He saw Jesus and went close to him and got down on his knees in front of him, to show him respect.

²³ He strongly asked Jesus to help his daughter. He said, “My little girl is really sick and I think she will die. Please come and put your hands on her. I know you can make her better so that she will not die.”

²⁴ Jesus listened to the man and started to go with him. The big mob of people followed them. They came up really close and pushed up against him Jesus, all around him.

²⁵ While they were walking along, a sick woman was there. A long time before this she started bleeding and that bleeding didn’t stop.

²⁶ She went to every doctor but none of them could help her. She spent all her money trying to get better, but it was no good, she only got worse. She kept bleeding for 12 years.

²⁷ Then somebody told her about Jesus and she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his coat, I will get better.” So she came up behind Jesus and touched his coat

⁹ And he axed him: what is thy name? And he answered sayinge: my name is Legion for we are many.

¹⁰ And he prayd him instantly that he wolde not sende the awaye out of the countre.

¹¹ And ther was there nye vnto the moutayns a greate heerd of swyne fedinge

¹² and all the devyls besought him sayinge: sende vs into the heerde of swyne that we maye enter in to them.

¹³ And anone Iesus gave them leave. And the vnclene spretes wet out and entred into the swyne. And the heerd starteled and ran hedling into the see. They were about .ii.M. swyne and they were drouned in the see.

¹⁴ And the swyne heerdes fleed and tolde it in the cyte and in the countre. And they came out for to se what had hapened:

¹⁵ and came to Iesus and sawe hym that was vexed with the fende and had the legion syt both clothed and in his right mynde and were afrayed.

¹⁶ And they that sawe it tolde them how it had happened vnto him that was possessed with the devyll: and also of the swyne.

¹⁷ And they begane to praye him that he wolde departe from their coostes.

¹⁸ And when he was come in to the shyppe he that had the devyll prayed him that he myght be with him.

¹⁹ Howbeit Iesus wolde not suffre him but sayde vnto him: goo home in to thyne awne housse and to thy frendes and shewe the what great thinges the Lorde hath done vnto the and how he had compassion on the.

²⁷ having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothes.

⁹ He asked him, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”

¹⁰ He begged him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹¹ Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding.

¹² All the demons begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.”

¹³ At once Jesus gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.

¹⁴ Those who fed the pigs fled, and told it in the city and in the country. The people came to see what it was that had happened.

¹⁵ They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid.

¹⁶ Those who saw it declared to them what happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs.

¹⁷ They began to beg him to depart from their region.

¹⁸ As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ He didn’t allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.”

²⁰ He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marvelled.

²¹ When Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.

²² Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet

²³ and begged him much, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.”

²⁴ He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides.

²⁵ A certain woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years,

²⁶ and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse,

²⁷ having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothes.

¹⁰ And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹¹ Now there was there nigh to the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

¹² And all the demons besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea.

¹⁴ And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

¹⁵ And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the demon, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

¹⁶ And they that saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed with the demon, and also concerning the swine.

¹⁷ And they began to pray him to depart out of their borders.

¹⁸ And when he had come into the boat, he that had been possessed with the demon prayed him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ Yet Jesus suffered him not, but saith to him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

²⁰ And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him. And all men wondered.

²¹ And when Jesus had passed over again in a boat to the other side, much people gathered to him: and he was nigh to the sea.

²² And behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

²³ And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee , come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she will live.

²⁴ And Jesus went with him; and many people followed him, and thronged him.

²⁵ And a certain woman who had an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁶ And had suffered many things from many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was not relieved, but rather grew worse,

²⁷ When she had heard of Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.

⁹ He asked him, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”

¹⁶ And they that saw, how it was done to him that had a fiend, and of the swine or the hogs, told to them.

¹⁷ And they began to pray him, that he should go away from their coasts.

¹⁸ And when he went up into a boat, he that was travailed of the devil, began to pray him, that he should be with him.

¹⁹ But Jesus received him not, but said to him, Go thou into thine house to thine, and tell to them, how great things the Lord hath done to thee, and had mercy of thee.

²⁰ And he went forth, and began to preach in Decapolis, how great things Jesus had done to him; and all men wondered.

²¹ And when Jesus had gone up into the boat again over the sea, much people came together to him, and was about the sea.

²² And one of the princes of the synagogues, by name Jairus, came, and saw him, and he fell down at his feet,

²³ and prayed him much, and said, My daughter is nigh dead; come thou, put thine hand on her, that she be safe, and live.

²⁴ And he went forth with him, and much people pursued him, and thrust, either oppressed, him.

²⁵ And a woman that had been in the bloody flux or the flux of blood twelve years,

²⁶ and had received many things of full many leeches, and had spended all her good or her things, and was nothing amended or and nothing profited, but was rather the worse,

²⁷ when she had heard of Jesus, she came among the people behind, and touched his cloth.

⁹ And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, A legion is my name; for we be many.

¹⁰ And he prayed Jesus much, that he should not put them out of the country. (And he greatly beseeched Jesus, that he would not send them out of the province.)

(And at once Jesus granted that to them. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the pigs, and with a great rush the herd was thrown headlong into the lake, about two thousand of them, and they were drowned in the lake.)

¹⁴ And they that kept (watch over) them, fled or Soothly they that fed them, fled, and told into the city, and into the fields; and they went out, to see what was done.

¹⁵ And they came to Jesus, and saw him that had been travailed of the fiend, sitting clothed, and of whole mind; and they dreaded. (And they came to Jesus, and saw him who had been troubled by the demon, sitting clothed, and being of whole mind; and they had fear, or and they were afraid.)

¹⁶ And they that saw, how it was done to him that had a fiend (or how it was done to him who had a demon), and of the swine or and of the hogs, told to them.

¹⁷ And they began to pray him, that he should go away from their coasts. (And they beseeched him, that he would go away from their coasts.)

¹⁸ And when he went up into a boat, he that was travailed of the devil, began to pray him, that he should be with him. (And when he went up into the boat, he who was troubled by the demon, beseeched him, that he would go with him.)

¹⁹ But Jesus received him not, but said to him, Go thou into thine house to thine, and tell to them, how great things the Lord hath done to thee, and had mercy of thee. (But Jesus would not take him, but said to him, Go back to thine house or thy family, yea, unto thine, and tell them what great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee.)

²⁰ And he went forth, and began to preach in Decapolis, how great things Jesus had done to him (or what great things Jesus had done for him); and all men wondered.

²³ and prayed him much, and said, My daughter is nigh dead; come thou, put thine hand on her, that she be safe, and live. (and greatly beseeched him, and said, My daughter is near death; come thou, put thine hand on her, so that she can be saved, and live, or so that she can be healed, and live.)

²⁴ And he went forth with him, and much people (pur)sued him, and thrust, either oppressed, him. (And he went with him, and many people followed him, and pressed him.)

²⁵ And a woman that had been in the bloody flux (for) twelve years, And a woman that was in the flux of blood (for) twelve years, (And a woman who had a flowing, or an issue, of blood for twelve years,)

²⁶ and had received many things of full many leeches, and had spended all her good(s), (or and had received many treatments from a great many physicians, and had spent all her money), and was nothing amended or and (had) nothing profited, but was rather the worse,

²⁷ when she had heard of Jesus, she came among the people behind, and touched his cloth (or and touched his cloak).

⁹ And Jhesus axide hym, What is thi name? And he seith to hym, A legioun is my name; for we ben many.

¹⁰ And he preiede Jhesu myche, that he schulde not putte hym out of the cuntrei.

¹¹ And there was there aboute the hille a greet flok of swyn lesewynge.

¹² And the spiritis preieden Jhesu, and seiden, Sende vs into the swyn, that we entre in to hem.

¹³ And anoon Jhesus grauntide to hem. And the vnclene spiritis yeden out, and entriden in to the swyn, and with a greet birre the flocke was cast doun in to the see, a twei thousynde, and thei weren dreynt in the see.

¹⁴ And thei that kepten hem, fledden, and tolden in to the citee, and in to the feeldis; and thei wenten out, to se what was don.

¹⁵ And thei camen to Jhesu, and sayn hym that hadde be trauelid of the feend, syttynge clothid, and of hool mynde; and thei dredden.

¹⁶ And thei that saien, hou it was don to hym that hadde a feend, and of the swyne, telden to hem.

¹⁷ And thei bigunnen to preie hym, that he schulde go a wei fro her coostis.

¹⁸ And whanne he yede up in to a boot, he that was trauelid of the deuel, bigan to preie hym, that he schulde be with hym.

¹⁹ But Jhesus resseyuede hym not, but seide to hym, Go thou in to thin hous to thine, and telle to hem, hou grete thingis the Lord hath don to thee, and hadde merci of thee.

²⁰ And he wente forth, and bigan to preche in Decapoli, hou grete thingis Jhesus hadde don to hym; and alle men wondriden.

²¹ And whanne Jhesus hadde gon vp in to the boot eftsoone ouer the see, myche puple cam togidere to him, and was aboute the see.

²² And oon of the princis of synagogis, bi name Jayrus, cam, and siy hym, and felde doun at hise feet,

²³ and preyede hym myche, and seide, My douyter is nyy deed; come thou, putte thin hoond on her, that sche be saaf, and lyue.

²⁴ And he wente forth with hym, and myche puple suede hym, and thruste hym.

²⁵ And a womman hadde ben in the blodi fluxe twelue yeer,

²⁶ and hadde resseyued many thingis of ful many lechis, and hadde spendid al hir good, and was nothing amendid, but was rather the wors, whanne sche hadde herd of Jhesu,

²⁷ sche cam among the puple bihynde, and touchide his cloth.

⁹ and he was questioning him, 'What is thy name?' and he answered, saying, 'Legion is my name, because we are many;'

¹⁰ and he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region.

¹¹ And there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding,

¹² and all the demons did call upon him, saying, 'Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter;'

¹³ and immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea — and they were about two thousand — and they were choked in the sea.

¹⁴ And those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;

¹⁵ and they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded — him having had the legion — and they were afraid;

¹⁶ and those having seen it, declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;

¹⁷ and they began to call upon him to go away from their borders.

¹⁸ And he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him,

¹⁹ and Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, 'Go away to thy house, unto thine own friends, and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;

²⁰ and he went away, and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus did to him, and all were wondering.

²¹ And Jesus having passed over in the boat again to the other side, there was gathered a great multitude to him, and he was near the sea,

²² and lo, there doth come one of the chiefs of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and having seen him, he doth fall at his feet,

²³ and he was calling upon him much, saying — 'My little daughter is at the last extremity — that having come, thou mayest lay on her thy hands, so that she may be saved, and she shall live;'

²⁴ and he went away with him. And there was following him a great multitude, and they were thronging him,

²⁵ and a certain woman, having an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁶ and many things having suffered under many physicians, and having spent all that she had, and having profited nothing, but rather having come to the worse,

²⁷ having heard about Jesus, having come in the multitude behind, she touched his garment,
