⁴⁰ And the child grew, and waxed strong, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

⁴¹ And his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.

⁴² And when he was twelve years old, they went up after the custom of the feast;

⁴³ and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and his parents knew it not;

⁴⁴ but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they sought for him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance:

⁴⁵ and when they found him not, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking for him.

⁴⁶ And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them, and asking them questions:

⁴⁷ and all that heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

⁴⁸ And when they saw him, they were astonished; and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I sought thee sorrowing.

⁴⁹ And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be in my Father’s house?

⁵⁰ And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

⁴⁰ As Jesus grew up, he became strong and very wise, and God was very pleased with him.

⁴¹ Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover festival.

⁴² So when Jesus was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem as they always did.

⁴³ When the celebration ended, his parents started to return home, but Jesus stayed in Jerusalem. His parents did not realize that Jesus stayed there.

⁴⁴ They thought that he was with the other people who were traveling with them. They walked all day. Then they started to look for him among their relatives and friends.

⁴⁵ They did not find him, so they returned to Jerusalem to search for him.

⁴⁶ Two days later, they found him. He was in the Temple courtyard, sitting with the Jewish religious teachers. He was listening to what they said, and he was asking them questions.

⁴⁷ Everyone who heard what he said was amazed at how much he understood and how well he answered the questions that the teachers asked.

⁴⁸ When his parents saw him, they were very surprised. His mother said to him, “My son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been very worried as we (exc) have been searching for you!”

⁴⁹ He said to them, speaking about the Temple being God his Father's house, “◄I am surprised that you (dl) did not know where to find me!/Why did you not know where to find me?► RHQ ◄You (dl) should have known that it was necessary for me to be in my Father's house!/Did you not know that it was necessary for me to be in my Father's house?► RHQ”

⁵⁰ But they did not understand the meaning of what he said to them.

⁵¹ Then he returned with them down to Nazareth. He always obeyed them. But his mother kept thinking about all those things.

⁵² As the years passed, Jesus continued to become wiser and he grew taller. God and people continued to approve of him more and more.

⁴⁰ The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

⁴¹ His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.

⁴² When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast;

⁴³ and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it,

⁴⁴ but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.

⁴⁵ And seeing that he was not there, they went back to Jerusalem, to make search for him.

⁴⁶ And after three days they came across him in the Temple, seated among the wise men, giving ear to their words and putting questions to them.

⁴⁷ And all to whose ears it came were full of wonder at his knowledge and the answers which he gave.

⁴⁸ And when they saw him they were surprised, and his mother said to him, Son, why have you done this to us? see, your father and I have been looking for you with sorrow.

⁴⁹ And he said to them, Why were you looking for me? was it not clear to you that my right place was in my Father's house?

⁵⁰ And his words seemed strange to them.

⁵¹ And he went down with them and came to Nazareth; and did as he was ordered: and his mother kept all these words in her heart.

⁵² And Jesus was increasing in wisdom and in years, and in grace before God and men.

⁴⁶ So it happened that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

⁴⁸ So upon seeing Him they were amazed, and His mother said to Him: “Son, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in distress.”

⁴⁹ So He said to them: “Why were you seeking me? Didn't you know that I must be about my Father's concerns?”

⁵⁰ But they did not understand the statement that He made to them.

⁵¹ Then He went down with them and came to Natsareth, and continued subordinating Himself to them; His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

⁵² And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

⁴⁰ The child grew strong, and was very wise. God's blessing was with him.

⁴¹ Jesus' parents traveled to Jerusalem every year for the Passover festival.

⁴² When Jesus was twelve years old, they went to the festival as they always did.

⁴³ When the festival had finished and it was time to return home, the boy Jesus remained in Jerusalem, but his parents didn't realize this.

⁴⁴ They assumed he was with all the others traveling home. A day passed before they started looking for him among their friends and relatives.

⁴⁵ When they couldn't find him they returned to Jerusalem to look for him there.

⁴⁶ It was three days before they found him in the Temple. He was sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

⁴⁷ All who heard him speak were surprised by his understanding and his answers.

⁴⁸ His parents were totally confused when they saw what he was doing. His mother asked him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I—we've been worried sick! We've been looking everywhere for you!”

⁴⁹ “Why is it that you were looking for me?” Jesus replied. “Didn't you know I should be here in my Father's house?”

⁵⁰ But they didn't understand what he meant.

⁵¹ Then he went back with them to Nazareth, and did what he was told. His mother kept a careful note of everything that happened.

⁵² Jesus grew steadily wiser and stronger, favored both by God and by the people.

⁴⁰ And the childe grewe, and waxed strong in Spirit, and was filled with wisedome, and the grace of God was with him.

⁴¹ Nowe his parents went to Hierusalem euery yeere, at the feast of the Passeouer.

⁴² And when hee was twelue yeere olde, and they were come vp to Hierusalem, after the custome of the feast,

⁴³ And had finished the dayes thereof, as they returned, the childe Iesus remained in Hierusalem, and Ioseph knew not, nor his mother,

⁴⁴ But they supposing, that he had bene in the company, went a dayes iourney, and sought him among their kinsfolke, and acquaintance.

⁴⁵ And when they found him not, they turned backe to Hierusalem, and sought him.

⁴⁶ And it came to passe three dayes after, that they found him in the Temple, sitting in the mids of the doctours, both hearing them, and asking them questions:

⁴⁸ So when they sawe him, they were amased, and his mother said vnto him, Sonne, why hast thou thus dealt with vs? beholde, thy father and I haue sought thee with very heauie hearts.

⁴⁹ Then said he vnto them, Howe is it that ye sought me? knewe ye not that I must goe about my Fathers busines?

⁵⁰ But they vnderstoode not the word that he spake to them.

⁴² When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem City of peace according to the custom of the feast,

⁴³ and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were making teshuvah ·complete return·, the boy Yeshua Salvation stayed behind in Jerusalem City of peace. Joseph May he add and his mother didn’t know it,

⁴⁴ but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.

⁴⁸ When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your 'Avikah ·your Father· and I were anxiously looking for you.”

⁴⁹ He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in 'Avi ·my Father·’s house?”

⁵⁰ They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.

⁵¹ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth Branch, Separated one. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

⁵² And Yeshua Salvation increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

⁴⁰ And the baby started to grow big and strong, and he got wise too. And God was good to him.

⁴¹ The Jewish people have a ceremony every year called Passover. Every year Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem for that ceremony.

⁴² When Jesus was 12 years old they went to Jerusalem, like they always did, and they took Jesus with them.

⁴³ After the ceremony finished they started to go north, back to their home in Nazareth. They were with a lot of other people going north, and they thought Jesus was somewhere in that mob. They thought, “He will come to our camp when we stop, at sundown.” But Jesus didn’t come to their camp at sundown. He was still back in Jerusalem. Mary and Joseph looked for him among their relatives and all that mob camping on that road,

⁴⁵ but they couldn’t find him. So they went back to Jerusalem and looked for him there.

⁴⁶ They looked for him for 3 days, then they found him in God’s ceremony house. He was sitting with the teachers there. He was listening to what they were saying, and he was asking them questions.

⁴⁷ The people there listened to Jesus too, and they were very surprised at the things he said. He understood so many things, and he knew the answers to all their questions.

⁴⁸ His father and mother were shocked, and Mary said, “My son, why did you do this to us? Me and your father have been worried about you. We have been looking everywhere for you for 3 days.”

⁴⁹ Jesus said, “Why did you look everywhere for me? Didn’t you know that I have to be in my father’s house?”

⁵⁰ But they didn’t understand what he meant by those words.

⁵¹ Then Jesus went with them back to Nazareth, and he always did what his mother and father told him to do. And his mother always remembered these things and thought about them.

⁵² Jesus grew up to be a man, and as he got bigger he became very wise too. God was happy with him, and so was everyone that knew him.

⁴⁰ And the chylde grewe and wexed stronde in sprete and was filled with wysdome and the grace of God was with hym.

⁴¹ And his father and mother went to Hierusalem every yeare at the feeste of ester.

⁴² And when he was .xii. yere olde they went vp to Hierusalem after the custome of the feeste.

⁴³ And when they had fulfilled the dayes as they returned home the chylde Iesus boode styll in Hierusalem vnknowynge to his father and mother.

⁴⁴ For they supposed he had bene in the company and therfore came a days iorney and sought him amonge their kynsfolke and acquayntaunce.

⁴⁵ And when they founde hym not they went backe agayne to Hierusalem and sought him.

⁴⁶ And it fortuned after .iii. dayes that they founde him in the temple sittinge in the middes of the doctours both hearynge them and posinge them.

⁴⁷ And all that hearde him mervelled at his wit and answers.

⁴⁸ And when they sawe him they were astonyed. And his mother sayde vnto him: sonne why hast thou thus dealte with vs? Beholde thy father and I have sought the sorowenge.

⁴⁹ And he sayde vnto the: how is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must goo aboute my fathers busines?

⁵⁰ And they vnderstode not the sayinge that he spake to them.

⁵¹ And he went with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to the. But his mother kept all these thinges in her hert.

⁵² And Iesus increased in wisdom and age and in favoure with god and man.

⁴⁴ They assumed that he was with the group that was traveling with them, so they traveled a day's journey. Then they started looking for him among their relatives and friends.

⁴⁵ When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem and started looking for him there.

⁴⁶ It came about that after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

⁴³ And whanne the daies weren don, thei turneden ayen; and the child abood in Jerusalem, and his fadir and modir knewen it not.

⁴⁴ For thei gessynge that he hadde be in the felowschip, camen a daies iourney, and souyten hym among hise cosyns and hise knouleche.

⁴⁵ And whanne thei founden hym not, thei turneden ayen in to Jerusalem, and souyten hym.

⁴⁶ And it bifelle, that aftir the thridde dai thei founden hym in the temple, sittynge in the myddil of the doctours, herynge hem and axynge hem.

⁴⁷ And alle men that herden hym, wondriden on the prudence and the answeris of hym.

⁴⁸ And thei seyn, and wondriden. And his modir seide to hym, Sone, what hast thou do to vs thus? Lo! thi fadir and Y sorewynge han souyte thee.

⁴⁹ And he seide to hem, What is it that ye souyten me? wisten ye not that in tho thingis that ben of my fadir, it behoueth me to be?

⁵⁰ And thei vndurstoden not the word, which he spak to hem.

⁵¹ And he cam doun with hem, and cam to Nazareth, and was suget to hem. And his moder kepte togidir alle these wordis, and bare hem in hir herte.

⁴² and when he became twelve years old, they having gone up to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast,

⁴³ and having finished the days, in their returning the child Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and Joseph and his mother did not know,

⁴⁴ and, having supposed him to be in the company, they went a day's journey, and were seeking him among the kindred and among the acquaintances,

⁴⁵ and not having found him, they turned back to Jerusalem seeking him.

⁴⁶ And it came to pass, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them and questioning them,

⁴⁷ and all those hearing him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

⁴⁸ And, having seen him, they were amazed, and his mother said unto him, 'Child, why didst thou thus to us? lo, thy father and I, sorrowing, were seeking thee.'

⁴⁹ And he said unto them, 'Why is it that ye were seeking me? did ye not know that in the things of my Father it behoveth me to be?'

⁵⁰ and they did not understand the saying that he spake to them,

⁵¹ and he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and he was subject to them, and his mother was keeping all these sayings in her heart,

⁵² and Jesus was advancing in wisdom, and in stature, and in favour with God and men.
