Luke 9:6-21 in American Standard Version (1901)

6 And they departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.
7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done: and he was much perplexed, because that it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead;
8 and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
9 And Herod said, John I beheaded: but who is this, about whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.
10 And the apostles, when they were returned, declared unto him what things they had done. And he took them, and withdrew apart to a city called Bethsaida.
11 But the multitudes perceiving it followed him: and he welcomed them, and spake to them of the kingdom of God, and them that had need of healing he cured.
12 And the day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages and country round about, and lodge, and get provisions: for we are here in a desert place.
13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy food for all this people.
14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said unto his disciples, Make them sit down in companies, about fifty each.
15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.
16 And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake; and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
17 And they ate, and were all filled: and there was taken up that which remained over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.
18 And it came to pass, as he was praying apart, the disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Who do the multitudes say that I am?
19 And they answering said, John the Baptist; but others say, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
20 And he said unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

6 Then they left and traveled through many villages. Everywhere they went, they told people God's good message and healed sick people.
7 Herod Antipas, the ruler of that district, heard about the things that Jesus and his disciples were doing. He had previously commanded his soldiers to execute John the Baptizer, so now he was perplexed, because some people were saying that John had become alive again and was doing those miracles.
8 Others were saying that the prophet Elijah had appeared again as had been prophesied. Others were saying that one of the other former prophets had become alive again and was doing those miracles.
9 But Herod said, “ It cannot be John who is doing these things, because I commanded my soldiers to cut off his head. So who is this man that I am hearing these things about?” And he kept wanting to see Jesus.
10 When the apostles returned from traveling to various towns, they told Jesus the things that they had done. Then he took them and they went by themselves by boat to a town called Bethsaida.
11 But when the crowds of people who had been with Jesus found out about that, they followed him on land. When they got to where he was, he welcomed them. He taught them about how God is going to some day ◄rule as king/have complete control over people's lives►. He also healed the sick people.
12 Late in the afternoon Jesus' twelve apostles came to him and said, “This is a place where nobody lives, so dismiss the people so that they can go to the surrounding villages and other places where they can get some food and find places to stay!”
13 But he said to them, “ No, you yourselves give them something to eat!” They replied, “We (exc) have only five small loaves and two cooked fish. Are you (sg) going to give us the money to go somewhere and buy food for all these people?”
14 There were about five thousand men there. He replied to the disciples, “ No, just tell the people to sit down. Tell them to sit in groups, with about fifty people in each group.”
15 After they told the people that, they all sat down.
16 Then he took the five small loaves and the two fish. He looked up towards heaven and thanked God for them. Then he broke them into pieces and gave them to the disciples so that they would distribute them to the crowd.
17 All the people in the crowd ate until they all had enough to eat. Then the disciples collected twelve baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over!
18 One day Jesus was praying in a place where only the disciples were with him. He asked them, “The crowds of people, who do they say that I really am?”
19 They replied, “ Some people say that you are John the Baptizer, who has come back to life again. Others say that you are the prophet Elijah, who has returned from heaven as God promised. Others say that you are one of the other prophets who lived long ago, who has come back to life again.”
20 He asked them, “What about you (pl)? Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “You (sg) are the Messiah, who has come from God.”
21 Then Jesus warned them strongly not to tell that to anyone yet.

10 And the twelve, when they came back, gave him an account of what they had done. And he took them with him and went away from the people to a town named Beth-saida.
11 But the people, getting news of it, went after him: and he was pleased to see them, and gave them teaching about the kingdom of God, and made those well who were in need of it.
12 And the day went on; and the twelve came to him and said, Send these people away so that they may go into the towns and the country round about and get resting-places and food for themselves, for we are in a waste place.
13 But he said, Give them food yourselves. And they said, We have only five cakes of bread and two fishes, if we do not go and get food for all these people.

6 They left and went around the villages, announcing the good news and healing everywhere they went.
7 Herod the tetrarch had heard about all that was happening, and he was very puzzled. Some were saying that John had been raised from the dead;
8 others that Elijah had appeared; still others that one of the ancient prophets had come back to life.

12 Late in the day, the twelve disciples came to him and said, “You should send the crowd away now so they can go to the villages and farms nearby and find a place to stay and food to eat—there's nothing here where we are.”
13 “You give them something to eat!” said Jesus. “All we have here are five loaves and two fish—unless you want us to go and buy food for everyone,” they said.
14 There were about five thousand men present. “Sit them down in groups of about fifty,” he told his disciples.
15 The disciples did so, and everybody sat down.
16 Jesus picked up the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed the food and broke it into pieces. He kept on giving the food to the disciples to share with the people.
17 Everybody ate until they were full, and then twelve baskets of leftovers were collected.
18 At another time, when Jesus was praying in private with just his disciples with him, he asked them, “All these crowds of people—who do they say I am?”
19 “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and still others say one of the ancient prophets risen from the dead,” they replied.
20 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” “God's Messiah,” Peter replied.
21 Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anybody about this.

7 And Herod the tetrarch or prince of the fourth part, heard all the things that were done of him, and he doubted, for that it was said of some men, that John was risen from death;

12 And the day began to bow down, and the twelve came, and said to him, Leave the people, that they go, and turn into the castles and towns, that be about, that they find meat, for we be here in a desert place.

7 And Herod the tetrarch or (the) prince of the fourth part, heard (of) all the things that were done of him, and he doubted, for that it was said of some men, that John was risen from death or for (that) John had risen from (the) dead; (And Herod, the tetrarch, or the prince of a quarter of the kingdom, heard of all of the things that were done by him, and he wondered about it, for it was said by some people, that John had risen from the dead;)
8 and of some men, that Elias had appeared; but of others, that one of the old prophets was risen. (and by some, that Elijah had appeared; but by others, that one of the prophets of old had arisen.)
9 And Herod said, I have beheaded John; and who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he sought to see him.
10 And the apostles turned again, and told to him all (the) things that they had done, (or And the apostles returned, and told him about everything that they had done). And he took them, and went beside into a desert place, that is called Bethsaida.
11 And when the people knew this, they followed him. And he received them, and spake to them of the kingdom of God (or and spoke to them about the Kingdom of God); and he healed them that had need of (a) cure.
12 And the day began to bow down, and the twelve came, and said to him, Leave the people, that they go, and turn into the castles and towns, that be about, that they find meat, for we be here in a desert place. (And the day began to bow down, and the Twelve came, and said to him, Let the people go, or Send them away, so that they can go, and return to the villages and towns, that be about, so that they can find some food, for we be here in this deserted place.)
13 And he said to them, Give ye to them (something) to eat. And they said, There be not to us more than five loaves and two fishes, but peradventure that we go, and buy meats to all this people, or but peradventure we go, and buy meats for all the company, (or but perhaps we can go, and buy some food for all of these people).
14 And the men were almost five thousand. And he said to his disciples, Make ye them to sit to (the) meat by companies, a fifty together, (or And he said to his disciples, Make them to sit down for the meal in groups, fifty together).
15 And they did so, and they made all men sit to the meat. (And they did so, and they made everyone to sit down for the meal.)
16 And when he had taken the five loaves and two fishes, he beheld into heaven, and blessed them, and brake (them), and dealed (them out) to his disciples, (so) that they should set or put (them) forth before the companies.
17 And all men ate, and were full-filled or and were filled; and that that (was) left to them of broken meats was taken up, twelve coffins. (And everyone ate, and were filled; and the pieces of food which were left by them were gathered up, yea, twelve baskets full.)
18 And it was done, when he was alone praying, his disciples were with him, and he asked them, and said, Whom say the people that I am?
19 And they answered, and said, John (the) Baptist, others say Elias, and others say or but others say, one prophet of the former is risen. (And they answered, and said, John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others say, one of the former prophets, or one of the first prophets, is risen.)
20 And he said to them, But whom say ye that I am? Simon Peter answered, and said, The Christ of God, (or Simon Peter answered, and said, God’s Messiah).
21 And he blaming them (or And he rebuking them), commanded them that they should say (that) to no man, +And he blaming them commanded them that they should say to no man these things,

Luke 9:6-21 in Young's Literal Translation

6 And going forth they were going through the several villages, proclaiming good news, and healing everywhere.
7 And Herod the tetrarch heard of all the things being done by him, and was perplexed, because it was said by certain, that John hath been raised out of the dead;
8 and by certain, that Elijah did appear, and by others, that a prophet, one of the ancients, was risen;
9 and Herod said, 'John I did behead, but who is this concerning whom I hear such things?' and he was seeking to see him.
10 And the apostles having turned back, declared to him how great things they did, and having taken them, he withdrew by himself to a desert place of a city called Bethsaida,
11 and the multitudes having known did follow him, and having received them, he was speaking to them concerning the reign of God, and those having need of service he cured.
12 And the day began to decline, and the twelve having come near, said to him, 'Let away the multitude, that having gone to the villages and the fields round about, they may lodge and may find provision, because here we are in a desert place.'
13 And he said unto them, 'Give ye them to eat;' and they said, 'We have no more than five loaves, and two fishes: except, having gone, we may buy for all this people victuals;'
14 for they were about five thousand men. And he said unto his disciples, 'Cause them to recline in companies, in each fifty;'
15 and they did so, and made all to recline;
16 and having taken the five loaves, and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and was giving to the disciples to set before the multitude;
17 and they did eat, and were all filled, and there was taken up what was over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.
18 And it came to pass, as he is praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he questioned them, saying, 'Who do the multitudes say me to be?'
19 And they answering said, 'John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, that a prophet, one of the ancients, was risen;'
20 and he said to them, 'And ye — who do ye say me to be?' and Peter answering said, 'The Christ of God.'
21 And having charged them, he commanded them to say this to no one,
