Luke 9:42-51 in American Standard Version (1901)

42 And as he was yet a coming, the demon dashed him down, and tare him grievously. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
43 And they were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marvelling at all the things which he did, he said unto his disciples,
44 Let these words sink into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men.
45 But they understood not this saying, and it was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
46 And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them was the greatest.
47 But when Jesus saw the reasoning of their heart, he took a little child, and set him by his side,
48 and said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this little child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same is great.
49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us.
50 But Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against you is for you.
51 And it came to pass, when the days were well-nigh come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

Luke 9:42-51 in Translation for Translators

42 While they were bringing the boy to Jesus, the demon attacked the boy, threw him to the ground, and shook him severely. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy. Then he returned him to his father's care.
43 All the people there were amazed at the great power of God. Luke 9:43b-45 While they were all amazed at all the miracles Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,
44 “Think carefully MTY about what I am about to tell you: Even though I am the one who came from heaven, I will soon be handed over to the authorities (OR, my enemies) { someone is about to enable MTY my enemies to seize me}.”
45 But the disciples did not understand what he was saying; God prevented them from understanding it, so that they would not know yet what he meant. And they were afraid to ask him about what he had said.
46 The disciples began to argue among themselves about which one of them would be the greatest when Jesus became king.
47 But Jesus perceived what they were thinking. So he brought a young child to his side.
48 He said to the disciples, “Those who, because they love me, (OR, because they want to behave like me) welcome a little child ◄ like this one/ as I would► MTY, God considers that MET they are welcoming me. And those who welcome me, God considers that MET they are welcoming him, the one who sent me. Remember that those among you who think of themselves as being very unimportant will be the ones whom God considers to be great.”
49 John replied to Jesus, “Master, we (exc) saw a man who was expelling demons, claiming that he had authority from you MTY to do that. So we told him to stop doing it, because he is not one of us disciples.”
50 But Jesus said to him and the other disciples, “Do not tell him not to do that! Remember that those who are not opposing you are trying to achieve the same goals that you are!”
51 When it was almost time for God to take Jesus up to heaven, he firmly resolved to go to Jerusalem.

42 And while he was coming, he was pushed violently down and twisted by the evil spirit. But Jesus gave sharp orders to the unclean spirit, and made the boy well, and gave him back to his father.
43 And they were full of wonder at the great power of God. But while they were all wondering at all the things which he did, he said to his disciples,
44 Let these words go deep into your ears, for the Son of man will be given up into the hands of men.
45 But this saying was not clear to them and its sense was kept secret from them so that they were not able to see it: and they had fear of questioning him about it.
46 Now there was a discussion among them about which of them would be the greatest.
47 But when Jesus saw the reasoning of their hearts, he took a small child and put him by his side,
48 And said to them, Whoever gives honour to this child in my name, gives honour to me: and whoever gives honour to me, gives honour to him who sent me: for whoever is least among you all, that man is great.
49 And John, answering, said, Master, we saw a man driving out evil spirits in your name, and we did not let him do it, because he was not one of us.
50 But Jesus said to him, Let him do it, for he who is not against you is for you.

42 Even as the boy came over, the demon sent him into convulsions, throwing him to the ground. But Jesus intervened, rebuking the evil spirit and healing the boy, and then gave him back to his father.
43 Everyone was amazed at this demonstration of God's power. However, even though everyone was amazed by all he did, Jesus warned his disciples,
44 “Listen carefully to what I'm telling you: the Son of man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.”
45 But they didn't understand what this meant. Its meaning was hidden from them so they didn't realize its implications, and they were afraid to ask him about it.
46 Then an argument started among the disciples about which of them was the greatest.
47 But Jesus, knowing what they were arguing about, picked up and placed a small child next to him.
48 Then he said to them, “Anyone who accepts this little child in my name accepts me, and anyone who accepts me accepts the one who sent me. Whoever is least among you all is the greatest.”
49 John spoke up, saying, “Master, we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him because he wasn't one of us.”
50 “Don't stop him,” Jesus replied. “Anyone who isn't against you is for you.”
51 As the time approached for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus was determined to go to Jerusalem.

Luke 9:42-51 in Unlocked Literal Bible

42 While the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and shook him with convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
43 Then they were all amazed at the greatness of God. While they all were marveling at everything he was doing, he said to his disciples,
44 “Let these words go deeply into your ears: The Son of Man will be betrayed into the hands of men.”
45 But they did not understand this statement. It was hidden from them, so they could not know its meaning, and yet they were afraid to ask about this statement.
46 Then an argument started among them about which of them would be the greatest.
47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning in their hearts, took a little child and put him by his side
48 and said to them, “Whoever welcomes this child in my name, welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me. For whoever is least among you all is the one who is great.”
49 John answered, “Master, we saw someone forcing out demons in your name and we prevented him, because he does not follow along with us.”
50 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “because whoever is not against you is for you.”
51 When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

42 While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
43 They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,
44 “Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.”
45 But they didn’t understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
46 An argument arose among them about which of them was the greatest.
47 Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their hearts, took a little child, and set him by his side,
