¹⁶ And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake; and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

¹⁷ And they ate, and were all filled: and there was taken up that which remained over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as he was praying apart, the disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Who do the multitudes say that I am?

¹⁹ And they answering said, John the Baptist; but others say, Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

²⁰ And he said unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

²¹ But he charged them, and commanded them to tell this to no man;

²² saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.

²³ And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

²⁴ For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

²⁵ For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?

²⁶ For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in his own glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But I tell you of a truth, There are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

²⁸ And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray.

²⁹ And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and dazzling.

³⁰ And behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah;

³¹ who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

³² Now Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

³³ And it came to pass, as they were parting from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said.

³⁴ And while he said these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my chosen: hear ye him.

³⁶ And when the voice came, Jesus was found alone. And they held their peace, and told no man in those days any of the things which they had seen.

³⁷ And it came to pass, on the next day, when they were come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him.

²² Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

²³ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

²⁴ For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

²⁵ For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

²⁶ For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

²⁸ And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

²⁹ And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

³⁰ And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

³¹ Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

³² But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

³³ And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

³⁴ While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

³⁶ And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

¹⁶ Then he took the five small loaves and the two fish. He looked up towards heaven and thanked God for them. Then he broke them into pieces and gave them to the disciples so that they would distribute them to the crowd.

¹⁷ All the people in the crowd ate until they all had enough to eat. Then the disciples collected twelve baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over!

¹⁸ One day Jesus was praying in a place where only the disciples were with him. He asked them, “The crowds of people, who do they say that I really am?”

¹⁹ They replied, “ Some people say that you are John the Baptizer, who has come back to life again. Others say that you are the prophet Elijah, who has returned from heaven as God promised. Others say that you are one of the other prophets who lived long ago, who has come back to life again.”

²⁰ He asked them, “What about you (pl)? Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “You (sg) are the Messiah, who has come from God.”

²¹ Then Jesus warned them strongly not to tell that to anyone yet.

²² Then he said, “ Even though I am the one who came from heaven, it is necessary that I suffer very much. It is also necessary that I be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the men who teach the Jewish laws {that the Jewish elders and the chief priests and the men who teach the Jewish laws will reject me}. It is necessary that I be killed {that people will kill me}. Then on the third day after that, I will become alive again.”

²³ Then he said to all of them, “If any one of you wants to be my disciple, you must not do only what you yourself desire to do. Specifically, you must be willing each day MET to let others hurt you and disgrace you. That is like what is done to criminals who are forced to carry MET crosses to the place where they will be executed. That is what anyone who wants to be my disciple must do.

²⁴ You must do that, because those who try to save their lives by denying that they belong to me when people want to kill them for believing in me will not live eternally, but those who are killed because of being my disciples will live forever with me.

²⁵ People might get everything that they want in this world, but ◄they are really gaining nothing if they do not get eternal life by becoming my disciples!/are they really gaining anything if they do not get eternal life by becoming my disciples?► RHQ

²⁶ Those who reject my message and refuse to say that they belong to me, I, the one who came from heaven, will also refuse to say that they belong to me when I come back with the holy angels, and have the glorious brightness that my Father has.

²⁷ But listen carefully! Some of you (pl) who are here now will see God ruling MET in many powerful ways. You will see it before you die!”

²⁸ About a week after Jesus said those things, he took Peter, James, and James' brother John and led them up a mountain so that he could pray there.

²⁹ As he was praying, his face appeared very different to them. His clothes became as bright as lightning.

³⁰ Suddenly, two men appeared who had the brightness of heaven surrounding them. They were prophets who had lived long ago, Moses and Elijah. They started talking with Jesus about how he would accomplish what God had planned when he died EUP very soon in Jerusalem.

³² Peter and the other disciples who were with him were sound asleep. When they woke up, they saw Jesus' brightness. They also saw the two men standing with him.

³³ As Moses and Elijah were starting to leave Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is wonderful for us to be here! Allow us to make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah!” But he really did not realize what he was talking about.

³⁴ As he was saying that, a bright cloud appeared and covered them all. The disciples were afraid as the cloud surrounded them.

³⁵ God MTY/EUP spoke to them from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son. He is the one whom I have chosen to do a great work for me. So you must listen to him!”

³⁶ After God MTY/EUP finished saying that, the three disciples saw that only Jesus was there. They did not tell anyone what they had seen until much later.

³⁷ The next day, after they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd of people met Jesus.

¹⁷ And they all took the food and had enough; and they took up of the broken bits which were over, twelve baskets full.

¹⁸ And it came about that when he was in prayer, by himself, and the disciples were with him, he put a question to them, saying, Who do the people say I am?

¹⁹ And they, answering, said, John the Baptist; but others say Elijah; and others, that one of the old prophets has come back.

²⁰ And he said, But who do you say that I am? And Peter, answering, said, The Christ of God.

²¹ But he gave them special orders, not to say this to any man;

²² Saying, The Son of man will undergo much and be put on one side by the rulers and the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and be put to death, and on the third day he will come back to life.

²³ And he said to them all, If any man has a desire to come after me, let him give up all, and take up his cross every day, and come after me.

²⁴ For whoever has a desire to keep his life will have it taken from him, but whoever gives up his life because of me, will keep it.

²⁵ For what profit will a man have if he gets all the world, but undergoes loss or destruction himself?

²⁶ For if any man has a feeling of shame because of me or of my words, the Son of man will have shame because of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But truly I say to you, Some of those who are here now will have no taste of death till they see the kingdom of God.

²⁸ And about eight days after he had said these things, he took Peter and John and James with him and went up into the mountain for prayer.

²⁹ And while he was in prayer, his face was changed and his clothing became white and shining.

³⁰ And two men, Moses and Elijah, were talking with him;

³¹ Who were seen in glory and were talking of his death which was about to take place in Jerusalem.

³² Now Peter and those who were with him were overcome with sleep: but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were with him.

³³ And when they were about to go away from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah: having no knowledge of what he was saying.

³⁴ And while he said these things, the shade of a cloud came over them, and they were full of fear when they went into the cloud.

³⁵ And there was a voice from the cloud saying, This is my Son, the man of my selection; give ear to him.

³⁶ And after the voice was gone they saw that Jesus was by himself. And they kept quiet, and said nothing at that time to anyone of the things which they had seen.

³⁷ And on the day after, when they came down from the mountain, a great band of people came to him.

²⁶ For whosoever shall have been ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed when he shall come in his glory, and in that of the Father, and of the holy angels.

³⁰ And lo, two men talked with him, who were Moses and Elias,

³¹ who, appearing in glory, spoke of his departure which he was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.

³² But Peter and those with him were oppressed with sleep: but having fully awoke up they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.

³³ And it came to pass as they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples also were with him: and he asked them, saying: Whom do the people say that I am?

¹⁹ But they answered, and said: John the Baptist; but some say Elias; and others say that one of the former prophets is risen again.

²⁰ And he said to them: But whom do you say that I am? Simon Peter answering, said: The Christ of God.

²¹ But he strictly charging them, commanded they should tell this to no man.

²² Saying: The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the ancients and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day rise again.

²³ And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

²⁴ For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; for he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall save it.

²⁵ For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, and cast away himself?

²⁶ For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him the Son of man shall be ashamed, when he shall come in his majesty, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But I tell you of a truth: There are some standing here that shall not taste death, till they see the kingdom of God.

²⁸ And it came to pass about eight days after these words, that he took Peter, and James, and John, and went up into a mountain to pray.

²⁹ And whilst he prayed, the shape of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and glittering.

³⁰ And behold two men were talking with him. And they were Moses and Elias,

³¹ Appearing in majesty. And they spoke of his decease that he should accomplish in Jerusalem.

³² But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep. And waking, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

³³ And it came to pass, that as they were departing from him, Peter saith to Jesus: Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias; not knowing what he said.

³⁴ And as he spoke these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them; and they were afraid, when they entered into the cloud.

³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son; hear him.

³⁶ And whilst the voice was uttered, Jesus was found alone. And they held their peace, and told no man in those days any of these things which they had seen.

³⁷ And it came to pass the day following, when they came down from the mountain, there met him a great multitude.

¹⁶ Jesus picked up the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed the food and broke it into pieces. He kept on giving the food to the disciples to share with the people.

¹⁷ Everybody ate until they were full, and then twelve baskets of leftovers were collected.

¹⁸ At another time, when Jesus was praying in private with just his disciples with him, he asked them, “All these crowds of people—who do they say I am?”

¹⁹ “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and still others say one of the ancient prophets risen from the dead,” they replied.

²⁰ “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” “God's Messiah,” Peter replied.

²¹ Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anybody about this.

²² “The Son of man must experience terrible sufferings,” he said. “He will be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the religious teachers. He will be killed, but on the third day he will rise again.”

²³ “If any one of you wants to follow me, you must deny yourself, pick up your cross daily, and follow me,” Jesus told all of them.

²⁴ “For if you want to save your life, you will lose it; and if you lose your life for my sake, you will save it.

²⁵ What do you benefit by gaining the whole world if you end up lost or destroyed?

²⁶ If you are ashamed of me and my message, the Son of man will be ashamed of you when he comes in his glory, and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.

²⁷ I tell you the truth, some standing here won't taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

²⁸ About eight days later, after he had told them this, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a mountain to pray.

²⁹ While he was praying, his face changed in appearance, and his clothing became a dazzling white.

³⁰ Two men appeared in brilliant glory. They were Moses and Elijah, and they began to talk with Jesus.

³¹ They spoke about his death, which would soon happen in Jerusalem.

³² Peter and the others were asleep. When they woke up they saw Jesus in his glory, and the two men standing next to him.

³³ As the two men were about to leave, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it's great to be here. Let's make some shelters: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” He really didn't know what he was saying.

³⁴ While he was speaking a cloud came and spread over them. They were terrified as they entered the cloud.

³⁵ A voice spoke from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him!”

³⁶ When the voice finished speaking, Jesus was there alone. They kept this to themselves, and didn't tell anyone at that time what they'd seen.

³⁷ The next day, when they had come down the mountain, a huge crowd was waiting to meet Jesus.

¹⁶ Then he tooke the fiue loaues, and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen, and blessed them, and brake, and gaue to the disciples, to set before the people.

¹⁷ So they did all eate, and were satisfied: and there was taken vp of that remained to them, twelue baskets full of broken meate.

²⁵ For what auantageth it a man, if he win the whole worlde, and destroy himselfe, or lose himselfe?

²⁶ For whosoeuer shall be ashamed of me, and of my wordes, of him shall the Sonne of man be ashamed, when hee shall come in his glorie, and in the glorie of the Father, and of the holy Angels.

²⁴ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it.

²⁶ For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Abba Father, and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here, who will in no way taste of death, until they see God’s Kingdom.”

²⁰ He sayde vnto the: Who saye ye that I am? Peter answered and sayde: thou arte the Christ of god.

²¹ And he warned and commaunded them that they shuld tell no man that thinge

²² sayinge: that the sonne of man must suffre many thinges and be reproved of the elders and of the hye prestes and scribes and be slayne and the thirde daye ryse agayne.

²³ And he sayde to them all yf eny man will come after me let him denye him sylfe and take vp his crosse dayly and folowe me.

²⁴ Whosoever will save his lyfe shall lose it. And who soever shall lose his lyfe for my sake the same shall save it.

²⁵ For what avauntageth it a man to wynne the whole worlde yf he loose him sylfe or runne in domage of him sylfe?

²⁶ For whosoever is ashamed of me and of my sayinges: of him shall the sonne of man be ashamed when he cometh in his awne glorie and in the glorie of his father and of the holy angels.

²⁷ And I tell you of a surety: There be some of the that stonde here which shall not tast of deeth tyll they se the kyngdome of god.

²⁸ And it folowed about an .viii. dayes after thoose sayinges that he toke Peter Iames and Iohn and went vp into a moutayne to praye.

²⁹ And as he prayed the facion of his countenaunce was changed and his garment was whyte and shoone.

³⁰ And beholde two men talked with him and they were Moses and Helyas

³¹ which appered gloriously and spake of his departinge which he shuld ende at Ierusalem.

³² Peter and they that were with him were hevy with slepe. And when they woke they sawe his glorie and two men stondinge with him.

³³ And it chaunsed as they departed from him Peter sayde vnto Iesus: Master it is good beinge here for vs. Let vs make thre tabernacles one for the and one for Moses and one for Helyas: and wist not what he sayde.

³⁴ Whyll he thus spake ther came a cloude and shadowed them: and they feared when they were come vnder the cloude.

³⁵ And ther came a voyce out of the cloude sayinge: This is my deare sonne heare him.

³⁶ And assone as the voyce was past Iesus was founde alone. And they kept it cloose and tolde noo man in thoose dayes eny of those thinges which they had sene.

³⁷ And it chaunsed on the nexte daye as they came doune from the hyll moche people met him.

¹⁶ Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, he blessed them and broke them into pieces, and he gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.

¹⁷ They all ate and were satisfied, and what was left over was picked up—twelve baskets of broken pieces.

¹⁸ It came about while Jesus was praying by himself, the disciples were with him. He questioned them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

¹⁹ They answered, “John the Baptist. But others say Elijah, and others say that one of the prophets from long ago has risen.”

²⁰ Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

²¹ But he strongly warned them to tell this to no one,

²² saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and he will be killed and on the third day be raised.”

²³ Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

²⁴ Whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

²⁵ What good is it for a person to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit himself?

²⁶ Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his own glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

²⁷ But I say to you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”

²⁸ Now about eight days after Jesus said these words, he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

²⁹ As he was praying, the form of his face was changed, and his clothes became brilliant white.

³⁰ Behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah,

³¹ who appeared in glorious splendor. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to completion in Jerusalem.

³² Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were standing with him.

³³ As they were going away from Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)

³⁴ As he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.

³⁵ A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, the one who is chosen; listen to him.”

³⁶ When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. They kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

³⁷ Now on the next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him.

³⁰ And behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah.

³¹ Who appeared in glory, and spoke of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

³² But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

³³ And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said.

²⁶ For whoso shameth me and my words, man’s Son shall shame him, when he cometh in his majesty, and of the Father’s, and of the holy angels.

³¹ were seen in majesty; and they said his going out, which he should fulfill in Jerusalem.

³⁶ And while the voice was made, Jesus was found alone. And they were still, and to no man said in those days any of those things, that they had seen, or they held peace, and said to no man in those days aught of those things that they had seen.

³⁷ But it was done in the day pursuing, when they came down of the hill, much people met them.

¹⁶ And when he had taken the five loaves and two fishes, he beheld into heaven, and blessed them, and brake (them), and dealed (them out) to his disciples, (so) that they should set or put (them) forth before the companies.

¹⁷ And all men ate, and were full-filled or and were filled; and that that (was) left to them of broken meats was taken up, twelve coffins. (And everyone ate, and were filled; and the pieces of food which were left by them were gathered up, yea, twelve baskets full.)

³⁰ And lo! two men spake with him, and Moses and Elias (And behold! two men spoke with him, yea, Moses and Elijah)

³¹ were seen in (their) majesty; and they said (of) his going out, which he should fulfill in Jerusalem. (were seen in their glory; and they spoke of his death, yea, of his destiny, which he would fulfill in Jerusalem.)

³² And Peter, and they that were with him, were heavy of sleep, or were grieved, or heavied, with sleep, and they waking saw his majesty, and the two men that stood with him, (or but awakening they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him).

(And after the voice was heard, Jesus was there alone. And they were silent, and did not tell anyone in those days, about anything that they had seen.)

³⁷ But it was done in the day (pur)suing, when they came down of the hill, much people met them. (But it was done on the following day, when they came down from the hill, that many people met them.)

¹⁶ And whanne he hadde take the fyue looues and twei fischis, he biheeld in to heuene, and blesside hem, and brak, and delide to hise disciplis, that thei schulden sette forth bifor the cumpanyes.

¹⁷ And alle men eeten, and weren fulfillid; and that that lefte to hem of brokun metis was takun vp, twelue cofyns.

¹⁸ And it was don, whanne he was aloone preiynge, hise disciplis weren with hym, and he axide hem, and seide, Whom seien the puple that Y am?

¹⁹ And thei answeriden, and seiden, Joon Baptist, othir seien Elie, and othir seien, o profete of the formere is risun.

²⁰ And he seide to hem, But who seien ye that Y am? Symount Petir answeride, and seide, The Crist of God.

³¹ and Moises and Helie weren seen in maieste; and thei sayn his goyng out, which he schulde fulfille in Jerusalem.

³² And Petre, and thei that weren with hym, weren heuy of sleep, and thei wakynge saien his majeste, and the twey men that stoden with hym.

³³ And it was don, whanne thei departiden fro hym, Petir seide to Jhesu, Comaundour, it is good that we be here, and make we here thre tabernaclis, oon to thee, and oon to Moises, and oon to Elie. And he wiste not what he schulde seie.

³⁴ But while he spak these thingis, a cloude was maad, and ouerschadewide hem; and thei dredden, whanne thei entriden in to the cloude.

³⁵ And a vois was maad out of the cloude, and seide, This is my derworth sone, here ye hym.

³⁶ And while the vois was maad, Jhesu was foundun aloone. And thei weren stille, and to no man seiden in tho daies ouyt of tho thingis, that thei hadden seyn.

³⁷ But it was doon in the dai suynge, whanne thei camen doun of the hil, myche puple mette hem.

¹⁶ and having taken the five loaves, and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and was giving to the disciples to set before the multitude;

¹⁷ and they did eat, and were all filled, and there was taken up what was over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as he is praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he questioned them, saying, 'Who do the multitudes say me to be?'

¹⁹ And they answering said, 'John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, that a prophet, one of the ancients, was risen;'

²⁰ and he said to them, 'And ye — who do ye say me to be?' and Peter answering said, 'The Christ of God.'

²¹ And having charged them, he commanded them to say this to no one,

²² saying — 'It behoveth the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and the third day to be raised.'

²³ And he said unto all, 'If any one doth will to come after me, let him disown himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me;

²⁴ for whoever may will to save his life, shall lose it, and whoever may lose his life for my sake, he shall save it;

²⁵ for what is a man profited, having gained the whole world, and having lost or having forfeited himself?

²⁶ 'For whoever may be ashamed of me, and of my words, of this one shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when he may come in his glory, and the Father's, and the holy messengers';

²⁷ and I say to you, truly, there are certain of those here standing, who shall not taste of death till they may see the reign of God.'

²⁸ And it came to pass, after these words, as it were eight days, that having taken Peter, and John, and James, he went up to the mountain to pray,

²⁹ and it came to pass, in his praying, the appearance of his face became altered, and his garment white — sparkling.

³⁰ And lo, two men were speaking together with him, who were Moses and Elijah,

³¹ who having appeared in glory, spake of his outgoing that he was about to fulfil in Jerusalem,

³² but Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep, and having waked, they saw his glory, and the two men standing with him.

³³ And it came to pass, in their parting from him, Peter said unto Jesus, 'Master, it is good to us to be here; and we may make three booths, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah,' not knowing what he saith:

³⁴ and as he was speaking these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them, and they feared in their entering into the cloud,

³⁵ and a voice came out of the cloud saying, 'This is My Son — the Beloved; hear ye him;'

³⁶ and when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone; and they were silent, and declared to no one in those days anything of what they have seen.

³⁷ And it came to pass on the next day, they having come down from the mount, there met him a great multitude,
