Luke 1:67-77 in English

⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; For he hath visited and wrought redemption for his people,

⁶⁹ And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David

⁷⁰ (As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old),

⁷¹ Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

⁷² To show mercy towards our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant;

⁷³ The oath which he sware unto Abraham our father,

⁷⁴ To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,

⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

⁷⁶ Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;

⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,

⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

⁶⁹ And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

⁷⁰ As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

⁷² To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

⁷³ The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

⁷⁴ That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

⁷⁶ Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;

⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,

⁶⁷ After Zechariah's son was born, Zechariah was completely directed by the Holy Spirit {the Holy Spirit completely directed Zechariah} as he spoke these words that came from God:

⁶⁸ “Praise the Lord, the God whom we(inc) people of Israel worship, because he has come to set us, his people, free from our enemies.

⁶⁹ He is sending us someone who will powerfully MTY save us, someone who is descended from MTY King David, who served God well.

⁷⁰ Long ago God caused his prophets to say that he would do that.

⁷¹ He will rescue us from our enemies, and he will save us from the power of all those who hate us.

⁷² He will do this because he has not forgotten what he promised our ancestors; he made an agreement that he would act mercifully to us, their descendants.

⁷³ That is what he strongly promised our ancestor Abraham that he would do.

⁷⁴ God told him that we would be rescued {he would rescue us} from the power of our enemies, that he would enable us to serve him without being afraid,

⁷⁵ that he would cause us to be completely dedicated to him, and enable us to live righteously all of our lives.”

⁷⁶ Then Zechariah said this to his little son: “My child, you will be called {people will say that you are} a prophet whom God MTY/EUP has sent; you will begin your work before ◄the Lord/Messiah► comes; you will prepare people so that they will be ready for him. (OR, you will begin your work before the Messiah comes).

⁷⁷ You will tell God's people how he will forgive them and save them from being punished for their sins.

⁶⁷ His father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people;

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old),

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us;

⁷² to show mercy toward our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,

⁷³ the oath which he swore to Abraham our father,

⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,

⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

⁶⁷ And his father, Zacharias, was full of the Holy Spirit, and with the voice of a prophet said these words:

⁶⁸ Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has come to his people and made them free,

⁶⁹ Lifting up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,

⁷⁰ (As he said, by the mouth of his holy prophets, from the earliest times,)

⁷¹ Salvation from those who are against us, and from the hands of those who have hate for us;

⁷² To do acts of mercy to our fathers and to keep in mind his holy word,

⁷³ The oath which he made to Abraham, our father,

⁷⁴ That we, being made free from the fear of those who are against us, might give him worship,

⁷⁵ In righteousness and holy living before him all our days.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be named the prophet of the Most High: you will go before the face of the Lord, to make ready his ways;

⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation to his people, through the forgiveness of sins,

⁶⁷ And Zacharias his father was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, because he has visited and wrought redemption for his people,

⁶⁹ and raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of David his servant;

⁷⁰ as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began;

⁷¹ deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us;

⁷² to fulfil mercy with our fathers and remember his holy covenant,

⁷³ the oath which he swore to Abraham our father,

⁷⁴ to give us, that, saved out of the hand of our enemies, we should serve him without fear

⁷⁵ in piety and righteousness before him all our days.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest; for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;

⁷⁷ to give knowledge of deliverance to his people by the remission of their sins

⁶⁷ And Zachary his father was filled with the Holy Ghost; and he prophesied, saying:

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; because he hath visited and wrought the redemption of his people:

⁶⁹ And hath raised up an horn of salvation to us, in the house of David his servant:

⁷⁰ As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who are from the beginning:

⁷¹ Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us:

⁷² To perform mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy testament,

⁷³ The oath, which he swore to Abraham our father, that he would grant to us,

⁷⁴ That being delivered from the hand of our enemies, we may serve him without fear,

⁷⁵ In holiness and justice before him, all our days.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways:

⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation to his people, unto the remission of their sins:

⁶⁷ Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people,

⁶⁹ And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David,

⁷⁰ As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began,

⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies And from the hand of all who hate us,

⁷² To perform the mercy promised to our fathers And to remember His holy covenant,

⁷³ The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:

⁷⁴ To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear,

⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before Him All the days of our life.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go before the face of the Lord To prepare His ways,

⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins,

⁶⁷ Now his father Zacharias was filled with Holy Spirit and prophesied saying:

⁶⁸ “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and provided redemption for His people;

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of His servant David

⁷⁰ —just as He spoke through the mouth of His holy prophets from antiquity—

⁷¹ deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us;

⁷² to use mercy with our fathers, even to remember His Holy covenant,

⁷³ the oath that He swore to our father Abraham;

⁷⁴ to grant to us (having been rescued from the hand of our enemies) to serve Him without fear,

⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called Prophet of the Most High, because you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,

⁷⁷ to give a knowledge of salvation to His people by the forgiveness of their sins,

⁶⁷ Zechariah, his father, filled with the Holy Spirit, spoke this prophecy:

⁶⁸ “The Lord, the God of Israel, he is wonderful, for he has come to his people and set them free.

⁶⁹ He has given us a great Savior from the line of his servant David,

⁷⁰ as he promised through his holy prophets long ago.

⁷¹ He promised to save us from our enemies, from those who hate us.

⁷² He was merciful to our fathers, remembering his holy agreement—

⁷³ the promise that he made to our father Abraham.

⁷⁴ He gives us freedom from fear and rescues us from our enemies,

⁷⁵ so we can serve him by doing what is good and right for our whole lives.

⁷⁶ Even though you are only a small child, you will be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go ahead of the Lord to prepare his way,

⁷⁷ providing knowledge of salvation to his people through the forgiveness of their sins.

⁶⁷ Then his father Zacharias was filled with the holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, because he hath visited and redeemed his people,

⁶⁹ And hath raised vp the horne of saluation vnto vs, in the house of his seruant Dauid,

⁷⁰ As he spake by ye mouth of his holy Prophets, which were since the world began, saying,

⁷¹ That he would sende vs deliuerance from our enemies, and from the hands of all that hate vs,

⁷² That he might shewe mercie towards our fathers, and remember his holy couenant,

⁷³ And the othe which he sware to our father Abraham.

⁷⁴ Which was, that he would graunt vnto vs, that we being deliuered out of the handes of our enemies, should serue him without feare,

⁷⁵ All the daies of our life, in holinesse and righteousnesse before him.

⁷⁶ And thou, babe, shalt be called the Prophet of the most High: for thou shalt goe before the face of the Lord, to prepare his waies,

⁷⁷ And to giue knowledge of saluation vnto his people, by the remission of their sinnes,

⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; For he hath visited and redeemed his people,

⁶⁹ And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David;

⁷⁰ (As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, Which have been since the world began:)

⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, And from the hand of all that hate us;

⁷⁴ to grant to us, that being delivered from the hand of our enemies, we might worship him without fear,

⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him, all our days.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called a prophet of the Most High; for thou shalt go in advance before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,

⁷⁷ to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the remission of their sins

⁶⁷ Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and, speaking under inspiration, said:

⁶⁸ “Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, Who has visited his people and wrought their deliverance,

⁶⁹ and has raised up for us the Strength of our salvation In the house of his servant David —

⁷⁰ As he promised by the lips of his holy prophets of old —

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hands of all who hate us,

⁷² showing mercy to our ancestors, And mindful of his sacred covenant.

⁷³ This was the oath which he swore to our ancestor Abraham —

⁷⁴ That we should be rescued from the hands of our enemies,

⁷⁵ and should serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness, In his presence all our days.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, For you will go before the Lord to make ready his way,

⁷⁷ to give his people the knowledge of salvation In the forgiveness of their sins,

⁶⁷ Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and, speaking under inspiration, said:

⁶⁷ His father, Zacharias Remembered by Yah, was filled with Ruach haKodesh Spirit of the Holiness, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ “Blessed be MarYah Master Yahweh, the God of Israel God prevails, for he has visited and redeemed his people;

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of yishu'ah ·salvation· for us in the house of his servant David Beloved

⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old),

⁷¹ yishu'ah ·salvation· from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;

⁷² to show eleos ·merciful compassion in action· towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties·,

⁷³ the covenant oath which he swore to Abraham Father of a multitude, Avinu ·our Father·,

⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,

⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Elyon Most High, for you will go before the face of Yahweh to prepare his ways,

⁷⁷ to give knowledge of yishu'ah ·salvation· to his people by the remission of their sins,

⁶⁷ At that time, when Zechariah started talking again, the Holy Spirit came into him, and he told everyone a message from God. He said,

⁶⁸ “The God of us Israel mob, he is a great God. He has come now to save us, his people.

⁶⁹ He has sent us a very strong person to save us. You know about David, the boss that worked for God a long time ago, well this person is in David’s family.

⁷⁰ God promised this to us a long time ago, and he got his men to tell us this message.

⁷¹ God promised to save us from our enemies, and from everyone that hates us.

⁷² He promised to be good to our grand-fathers of long ago, and he will remember to do everything that he promised.

⁷³ Yes, God will remember the things promised to Abraham, our grand-father of long ago.

⁷⁴ He promised to save us from our enemies, so we can work for him without being frightened.

⁷⁵ We can live God’s way and work for him in the right way, and we can do it all our lives.”

⁷⁶ Then Zechariah talked to his baby boy, he said, “This word is for you, my son. Everyone will know that you tell people messages from God. You will go ahead of the one that God is sending to be our leader, and you will get everything ready for him.

⁷⁷ You will teach his people how God can say they are not guilty for the bad things they did, and then God will save them.

⁶⁷ And his father zacharias was filled with the holy goost and prophisyed sayinge:

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lorde God of Israel for he hath visited and redemed his people.

⁶⁹ And hath reysed vp an horne of salvacion vnto vs in the housse of his servaunt David.

⁷⁰ Even as he promised by the mouth of his holy prophetes which were sens the worlde began

⁷¹ That we shuld be saved from oure enemies and from the hondis of all that hate vs:

⁷² To fulfill the mercy promised to oure fathers and to remember his holy covenaunt.

⁷³ And to performe the oothe which he sware to oure father Abraham, for to geve vs.

⁷⁴ That we delyvered oute of the hondes of oure enemyes myght serve him with oute feare

⁷⁵ all the dayes of oure lyfe in suche holynes and ryghtewesnes that are accept before him.

⁷⁶ And thou chylde shalt be called the Prophet of the hyest: for thou shalt goo before the face of the lorde to prepare his wayes:

⁷⁷ And to geve knowlege of salvacion vnto his people for the remission of synnes:

⁶⁷ His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ “Praised be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has come to help and he has accomplished redemption for his people.

⁶⁹ He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago),

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us.

⁷² He will do this to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,

⁷³ the oath that he spoke to Abraham our father.

⁷⁴ He swore to grant to us that we, having been delivered out of the hand of our enemies, would serve him without fear,

⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

⁷⁶ Yes, and you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his paths, to prepare people for his coming,

⁷⁷ to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins.

⁶⁷ His father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people;

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,

⁷⁷ to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins,

⁶⁷ His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

⁶⁸ “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people;

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old),

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us;

⁷² to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,

⁷³ the oath which he swore to Abraham our father,

⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he hath visited, and made redemption of his people (or and made redemption for his people).

⁶⁹ And he hath raised to us an horn of health, in the house of David, his child. (He hath raised up for us a Deliverer of salvation, in the house of his servant David.)

⁷⁰ As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, that were from the world. (As he spoke by the mouths of his holy prophets, who lived long ago.)

⁷¹ Health from our enemies (or Salvation or Deliverance from our enemies), and from the hand(s) of all (the) men that hated us.

⁷² To do mercy with our fathers, and to have mind of his holy testament. (To give mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant.)

⁷³ The great oath that he swore to Abraham, our father,

⁷⁴ to give himself to us. That we without dread, delivered from the hand of our enemies, serve to him, to give himself to us. That we delivered from the hand of our enemies, serve to him without dread (or without fear), (to give himself to us. That we now, without any fear, having been delivered from the hand of our enemies, serve him,)

⁷⁵ serue to hym, in hoolynesse and riytwisnesse bifor hym in alle oure daies.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, schalt be clepid the prophete of the Hiyest; for thou schalt go bifor the face of the Lord, to make redi hise weies.

⁷⁷ To yyue scyence of helthe to his puple, in to remyssioun of her synnes;

⁶⁷ And Zacharias his father was filled with the Holy Spirit, and did prophesy, saying,

⁶⁸ 'Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, Because He did look upon, And wrought redemption for His people,

⁶⁹ And did raise an horn of salvation to us, In the house of David His servant,

⁷⁰ As He spake by the mouth of His holy prophets, Which have been from the age;

⁷¹ Salvation from our enemies, And out of the hand of all hating us,

⁷² To do kindness with our fathers, And to be mindful of His holy covenant,

⁷³ An oath that He sware to Abraham our father,

⁷⁴ To give to us, without fear, Out of the hand of our enemies having been delivered,

⁷⁵ To serve Him, in holiness and righteousness Before Him, all the days of our life.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, Prophet of the Highest Shalt thou be called; For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, To prepare His ways.
