Luke 1:60-62 in English

⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

⁶¹ And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

⁶² And they made signs to his father, what he would have him called.

⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

⁶¹ And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

⁶¹ So they said to her, “ John is not the name of any of your (dl) relatives, so you(dl) should not give him that name!”

⁶² Then they made motions with their hands to Zechariah, for him to indicate what name he wanted to be given {to give} to his son.

⁶⁰ His mother answered, “Not so; but he will be called John.”

⁶¹ They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”

⁶² They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.

⁶⁰ His mother answered, “Not so; but he will be called John.”

⁶¹ They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”

⁶² They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.

⁶⁰ His mother answered, “Not so; but he will be called John.”

⁶¹ They said to her, “There is no one amongst your relatives who is called by this name.”

⁶² And they made signs to his father, to say what name was to be given to him.

⁶⁰ And his mother answering said, No; but he shall be called John.

⁶¹ And they said to her, There is no one among thy kinsfolk who is called by this name.

⁶² And they made signs to his father as to what he might wish it to be called.

⁶⁰ And his mother answering, said: Not so; but he shall be called John.

⁶¹ And they said to her: There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

⁶² And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

⁶⁰ His mother answered and said, “No; he shall be called John.”

⁶¹ But they said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”

⁶² So they made signs to his father about what he wished him to be called.

⁶⁰ His mother reacted and said, “Absolutely not; he shall be called John!”

⁶¹ So they said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”

⁶² So they started motioning to his father, as to what he would have him called.

⁶⁰ “No,” Elizabeth said. “He shall be called John.”

⁶¹ “But there's nobody among your relatives who has this name,” they told her.

⁶² Through gestures they asked Zechariah, the boy's father, what he wanted to call his son.

⁶⁰ But his mother answered, and saide, Not so, but he shalbe called Iohn.

⁶¹ And they saide vnto her, There is none of thy kindred, that is named with this name.

⁶² Then they made signes to his father, howe he would haue him called.

⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

⁶¹ And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

⁶¹ “You have no relation of that name!” they exclaimed;

⁶² and they made signs to the child's father, to find out what he wished the child to be called.

⁶² So they made signs with their hands to his father, to ask him what name he wanted to give to the boy.

⁶¹ And they sayd vnto hyr: Ther is none of thy kynne that is named with this name.

⁶⁰ And his moder answeride, and seide, Nay, but he schal be clepid Joon.

⁶¹ And thei seiden to hir, For no man is in thi kynrede, that is clepid this name.

⁶² And thei bikeneden to his fadir, what he wolde that he were clepid.

⁶⁰ and his mother answering said, 'No, but he shall be called John.'

⁶¹ And they said unto her — 'There is none among thy kindred who is called by this name,'
