Luke 19:4-10 in English

⁴ And he ran on before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to-day I must abide at thy house.

⁶ And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner.

⁸ And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wrongfully exacted aught of any man, I restore fourfold.

⁹ And Jesus said unto him, To-day is salvation come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

¹⁰ For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.

⁴ So he ran further ahead along the road that Jesus was walking on. He climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Jesus.

⁵ When Jesus got there, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, because God wants me to go with you(sg) to your house and stay there tonight”!

⁶ So he came down quickly. He took Jesus to his house and welcomed him joyfully.

⁷ The people who saw Jesus go there grumbled saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner!”

⁸ Then Zacchaeus stood up while they were eating and said to the Lord Jesus, “Lord, I want you (sg) to know that I am going to give half of what I own to poor people. And as for the people whom I have cheated, I will pay them back four times the amount I have gotten from them by cheating.”

⁹ Jesus said to him, “Today God has forgiven PRS you and the other people in MTY this house, because you (sg) also have shown that you have trusted in God as your ancestor Abraham did.

¹⁰ Remember this: I, the one who came from heaven, came to seek and save people like you(sg) who have gone astray from God, just like a shepherd who searches for his lost sheep.”

⁴ He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.

⁵ When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

⁶ He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.

⁴ And he went quickly in front of them and got up into a tree to see him, for he was going that way.

⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, looking up, he said to him, Zacchaeus, be quick and come down, for I am coming to your house today.

⁶ And he came down quickly, and took him into his house with joy.

⁷ And when they saw it, they were all angry, saying, He has gone into the house of a sinner.

⁸ And Zacchaeus, waiting before him, said to the Lord, See, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have taken anything from anyone wrongly, I give him back four times as much.

⁹ And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, for even he is a son of Abraham.

¹⁰ For the Son of man came to make search for those who are wandering from the way, and to be their Saviour.

⁴ And running on before, he got up into a sycamore that he might see him, for he was going to pass that way.

⁵ And when he came up to the place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for to-day I must remain in thy house.

⁶ And he made haste and came down, and received him with joy.

⁷ And all murmured when they saw it, saying, He has turned in to lodge with a sinful man.

⁸ But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I return him fourfold.

⁹ And Jesus said to him, To-day salvation is come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;

¹⁰ for the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which is lost.

⁹ Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

¹⁰ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

⁴ And running up ahead in front, he went up into a sycamore tree so that he might see Him, because He was about to pass by that way.

⁵ And when He came upon that place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay in your house.”

⁶ So he hurried and came down, and received Him, rejoicing.

⁷ But when they saw it, they all were complaining, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a sinner.”

⁸ Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor; and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I restore fourfold.”

⁹ And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;

¹⁰ for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

⁴ And running on ahead he climbed up into a sycamore tree, in order to see Him, since He was about to pass by there.

⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, because today I must stay at your house.”

⁶ So he came down quickly, and received Him joyfully.

⁷ But when they saw it, they all started complaining, saying, “He has entered to lodge with a sinful man!”

⁸ Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Indeed, Lord, I herewith give half of my goods to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I restore fourfold.”

⁹ So Jesus said about him, “Today salvation has happened in this house, in that he also is a son of Abraham;

¹⁰ because the Son of the Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

⁴ So he ran ahead, and climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus as he passed by.

⁵ When Jesus got there, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly! I need to stay at your house today.”

⁶ Zacchaeus climbed down quickly and was so happy to welcome Jesus to his home.

⁷ When the people saw this they all complained, “He's gone to stay with such a sinner!”

⁸ But Zacchaeus stood up and said before the Lord, “Look, I'm giving half of everything I own to the poor, and if I've cheated anybody, I'll pay them back four times as much!”

⁹ In response Jesus said, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man has shown he is a son of Abraham too.

¹⁰ For the Son of man came to search for and save those who are lost.”

⁴ Wherefore he ranne before, and climed vp into a wilde figge tree, that he might see him: for he should come that way.

⁵ And when Iesus came to the place, he looked vp, and saw him, and said vnto him, Zaccheus, come downe at once: for to day I must abide at thine house.

⁶ Then he came downe hastily, and receiued him ioyfully.

⁷ And when all they sawe it, they murmured, saying, that hee was gone in to lodge with a sinfull man.

⁸ And Zaccheus stood forth, and said vnto the Lord, Beholde, Lord, the halfe of my goods I giue to the poore: and if I haue taken from any man by forged cauillation, I restore him foure folde.

⁹ Then Iesus said to him, This day is saluation come vnto this house, forasmuch as hee is also become the sonne of Abraham.

¹⁰ For the Sonne of man is come to seeke, and to saue that which was lost.

⁵ When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, be quick and come down, for I must stop at your house today.”

⁶ So Zacchaeus got down quickly, and joyfully welcomed him.

⁷ On seeing this, everyone began to complain, “He has gone to stay with a man who is an outcast.”

⁸ But Zacchaeus stood forward and said to the Master, “Listen, Master! I will give half my property to the poor, and, if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give him back four times as much.”

⁹ “Salvation has come to this house today,” answered Jesus, “for even this man is a son of Abraham.

¹⁰ The Son of Man has come to search for those who are lost and to save them.”

⁴ So he ran on ahead and climbed into a mulberry tree, to see Jesus, for he knew that he must pass that way.

⁵ When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, be quick and come down, for I must stop at your house today.”

⁶ So Zacchaeus got down quickly, and joyfully welcomed him.

⁷ On seeing this, everyone began to complain, “He has gone to stay with a man who is an outcast.”

⁹ Yeshua Salvation said to him, “Today, yishu'ah ·salvation· has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham Father of a multitude.

¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”

⁴ So he ran up the road ahead of Jesus and climbed up into a tree, and he saw Jesus from up high in that tree, as Jesus walked along the road.

⁵ When Jesus came to that tree he looked up and saw Zacchaeus, and said to him, “Hey, Zacchaeus. You come down right now, and hurry. I want to go and stay at your house today.”

⁶ Then Zacchaeus was very happy, and he came down quickly, and he took Jesus to his house.

⁷ But when the other people saw this they got upset with Jesus. They said, “Look. He goes and stays with bad people. He shouldn’t do that.”

⁸ But later, at his house, Zacchaeus stood up and said to Jesus, “Look, Sir, this is what I am going to do now. I am going to split up all the things I own into 2 heaps, and I will give one heap away to poor people. And I’m also going to give back to those people that I cheated. I am going to give them back 4 times as much as I took from them.”

⁹ Then Jesus told everybody there, “God saved this man right now, today. And he saved everybody at his place, too. You see, this man is one of God’s people now, just like Abraham, because he believes in me just like Abraham believed in God.

¹⁰ You see, I am God’s special man from heaven, and I came to earth to look for people who went wrong and got lost, so that I can save them.”

⁴ Wherfore he ran before and asceded vp into a wilde fygge tree to se him: for he shulde come that same waye.

⁵ And when Iesus cam to the place he loked vp and sawe him and sayd vnto him: zache attonce come doune for to daye I must abyde at thy housse.

⁶ And he came doune hastelye and receaved him ioyfully.

⁷ And when they sawe that they all groudged sayinge: He is gone in to tary with a man that is a synner.

⁸ And zache stode forth and sayd vnto the Lorde: beholde Lorde the haulfe of my gooddes I geve to the povre and if I have done eny man wronge I will restore him fower folde.

⁹ And Iesus sayd to him: this daye is healthe come vnto this housse for as moche as it also is become the chylde of Abraham.

¹⁰ For the sonne of man is come to seke and to save that which was looste.

⁴ So he ran on ahead of the people and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, because Jesus was about to pass that way.

⁵ When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.”

⁶ So he hurried and came down and welcomed him joyfully.

⁷ When everyone saw this, they all complained, saying, “He has gone in to visit a man who is a sinner.”

⁸ Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone of anything, I will restore four times the amount.”

⁹ Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham.

¹⁰ For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the people who are lost.”

⁴ He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.

⁸ But Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord, Lo! Lord, I give the half of my goods to poor men; and if I have anything defrauded any man, I yield four so much or fourfold.

⁹ Jesus saith to him, For today health is made to this house, for that he is Abraham’s son;

¹⁰ for man’s Son came to seek, and make safe that thing that perished.

⁴ And he ran before (or And so he ran ahead), and ascended up into a sycamore tree, to see him; for he was to pass from thence.

⁵ And Jesus beheld up, when he came to the place, and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, haste thee, and come down, for today I must dwell in thine house.

⁶ And he hieing or he hasting came down, and joying(ly) received him.

⁷ And when all men saw, they grudged (or they grumbled), saying, For he had turned to a sinful man.

⁸ But Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord, Lo! Lord, I (now) give the half of my goods to poor men; and if I have anything defrauded any man, I yield four so much, or I yield fourfold, (or and if I have defrauded anyone of any amount, I shall repay them four times as much).

⁹ Jesus saith to him, For today health is made to this house, for that he is Abraham’s son; (Jesus said to him, Today salvation or deliverance hath come to this house, because he too is Abraham’s son;)

¹⁰ for man’s Son came to seek, and make safe that thing that perished. (for man’s Son came to seek, and to save those who were lost.)

⁴ And he ran bifore, and stiyede in to a sicomoure tree, to se hym; for he was to passe fro thennus.

⁵ And Jhesus biheld vp, whanne he cam to the place, and saiy hym, and seide to hym, Sache, haste thee, and come doun, for to dai Y mot dwelle in thin hous.

⁶ And he hiyynge cam doun, and ioiynge resseyuede hym.

⁷ And whanne alle men sayn, thei grutchiden seiynge, For he hadde turned to a synful man.

⁸ But Sache stood, and seide to the Lord, Lo! Lord, Y yyue the half of my good to pore men; and if Y haue ony thing defraudid ony man, Y yelde foure so myche.

⁹ Jhesus seith to hym, For to dai heelthe is maad to this hous, for that he is Abrahams sone;

¹⁰ for mannus sone cam to seke, and make saaf that thing that perischide.

⁴ and having run forward before, he went up on a sycamore, that he may see him, because through that way he was about to pass by.

⁵ And as Jesus came up to the place, having looked up, he saw him, and said unto him, 'Zaccheus, having hastened, come down, for to-day in thy house it behoveth me to remain;'

⁶ and he having hastened did come down, and did receive him rejoicing;

⁷ and having seen it, they were all murmuring, saying — 'With a sinful man he went in to lodge!'

⁸ And Zaccheus having stood, said unto the Lord, 'Lo, the half of my goods, sir, I give to the poor, and if of any one anything I did take by false accusation, I give back fourfold.'

⁹ And Jesus said unto him — 'To-day salvation did come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;

¹⁰ for the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.'
