Help us?

Luke 17:2-33 in American Standard Version (1901)

2 It were well for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.
3 Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother sin, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye would say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would obey you.
7 But who is there of you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say unto him, when he is come in from the field, Come straightway and sit down to meat;
8 and will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Doth he thank the servant because he did the things that were commanded?
10 Even so ye also, when ye shall have done all the things that are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which it was our duty to do.
11 And it came to pass, as they were on the way to Jerusalem, that he was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off:
13 and they lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go and show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, with a loud voice glorifying God;
16 and he fell upon his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 Were there none found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger?
19 And he said unto him, Arise, and go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
20 And being asked by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God cometh, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you.
22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
23 And they shall say to you, Lo, there! Lo, here! go not away, nor follow after them:
24 for as the lightning, when it lighteneth out of the one part under the heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall the Son of man be in his day.
25 But first must he suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.
26 And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, even so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise even as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all:
30 after the same manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he that shall be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away: and let him that is in the field likewise not return back.
32 Remember Lot’s wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Luke 17:2-33 in Translation for Translators

2 Suppose you caused one of these people who do not believe in me very strongly to sin. If a huge stone was fastened {someone fastened a huge stone} around your neck and you were thrown {and threw you} into the sea, you would consider that a severe punishment, but God will punish you even more severely if you cause someone to sin!
3 Be careful how you act. If you know about a fellow believer who sins, you (sg) should rebuke him. If he says that he is sorry for having sinned and asks you to forgive him, forgive him.
4 Even if he sins against you (sg) seven times in one day, if he comes to you each time and says, ‘I am sorry for what I did’, you must continue forgiving him.”
5 One day the apostles said to the Lord, “Help us to trust in you (OR, in God) more strongly!”
6 The Lord replied, “Mustard seeds are very small, but in this area they grow and produce large MET plants. Similarly, if your faith grows until you truly believe that God will do what you ask him to, you will be able to do anything. You could even say to this mulberry tree, ‘Pull yourself out with your roots and plant yourself in the sea!’ and it would obey you!”
7 Jesus also said, “Suppose that one of you had a servant who was plowing your fields or taking care of your sheep. After he comes into the house from the field, you (sg) would not say RHQ, ‘Sit down and eat immediately!’
8 Instead, you would say to him, ‘Put on your apron and prepare a meal for me! Then serve it to me so that I can eat and drink! Afterwards you (sg) can eat and drink.’
9 ◄You will not thank your servant for doing the work that he had been told {you had told him} to do!/Would you thank your servant because he did the work that he had been told {you had told him} to do?► RHQ
10 Similarly, when you (pl) have done everything that God has told you to do, you should say, ‘We (inc) are not worthy of God thanking us { being thanked}. We are only God's servants. We have only done the things that he told us to do.’”
11 As Jesus and his disciples were walking along the road to Jerusalem, they were going through the region between Samaria and Galilee districts.
12 As they entered one village, ten lepers came near the road. Because lepers were not permitted to come near other people, they stood at some distance
13 and called out, “Jesus, Master, pity us and heal us!”
14 When he saw them, he said to them, “Each of you should go and show yourself to a priest in Jerusalem so that he can see if you are healed.” As they were going there, they were healed.
15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God loudly.
16 He came to Jesus, prostrated himself at Jesus' feet, and thanked him. This man was a Samaritan, not a Jew.
17 Then Jesus said, “ I healed ten lepers ◄I am disappointed that the other nine did not come back!/Where are the other nine?► RHQ
18 I am disappointed RHQ that this non-Jewish man was the only one who returned to thank God; none of the others came back to me!”
19 Then he said to the man, “Get up and continue on your journey. God PRS has saved you and healed you (sg) because you trusted in me.”
20 One day Jesus was asked by some Pharisees SYN { some Pharisees SYN asked Jesus}, “When is God going to rule as king?” He replied, “God's ruling MET is not something people will be able to see with their eyes.
21 And people will not be able to say, ‘Look! He is ruling here!’ Or ‘He is ruling over there!’ because, contrary to what you think, God's ruling is people's inner beings (OR, is already happening among you).”
22 Jesus said to his disciples, “There will be a time when you will want to see me MTY, the one who came from heaven, ruling powerfully. But you will not see that.
23 Some people will say to you, ‘Look, the Messiah is over there!’ or they will say ‘Look, he is here!’ When they say that, do not believe them. Do not follow them to go see the Messiah.
24 Because when the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, everyone can see it. Similarly SIM, at the time MTY when I, the one who came from heaven, come back again, everyone will see me.
25 But before that happens, I must suffer in many ways (OR, very much). And I will be rejected by people {people will reject me}, even though they have observed me doing good for people.
26 But when I, the one who came from heaven, come again, people will be doing things just like people were doing at the time when MTY Noah lived.
27 At that time people ate and drank as usual, and they got married as usual, up until the day when Noah and his family entered the big boat. But then the flood came and destroyed all those who were not in the boat.
28 Similarly, when Lot lived in Sodom city, people there ate and drank as usual. They bought things and they sold things. They planted crops and they built houses as usual.
29 But on the day that Lot and his family left Sodom, fire and burning sulfur came down from the sky and destroyed all those who stayed in the city.
30 Similarly, when I, the one who came from heaven, return to earth, people will be unprepared (OR, enjoying normal life).
31 On that day, those who are outside their houses, with all the things that they own inside the houses, must not go in to take them away, because there will not be enough time to do that. Similarly, those who are working in a field must not go back home to get anything; they must flee immediately.
32 Remember Lot's wife! Because she turned back and wanted to get some of her things from Sodom, she died immediately and became a pillar of salt.
33 Anyone who wants to hold onto his life and his possessions will not receive eternal life. But anyone who is willing to die for my sake will live eternally.

20 Being asked by the Pharisees when God’s Kingdom would come, he answered them, “God’s Kingdom doesn’t come with observation;
21 neither will they say, ‘Look, here!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ for behold, God’s Kingdom is within you.”
22 He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
23 They will tell you, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘Look, there!’ Don’t go away or follow after them,
24 for as the lightning, when it flashes out of one part under the sky, shines to another part under the sky, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
25 But first, he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 As it was in the days of Noah, even so it will also be in the days of the Son of Man.
27 They ate, they drank, they married, and they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ship, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise, even as it was in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;
29 but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from the sky and destroyed them all.
30 It will be the same way in the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
31 In that day, he who will be on the housetop and his goods in the house, let him not go down to take them away. Let him who is in the field likewise not turn back.
32 Remember Lot’s wife!

Luke 17:2-33 in Bible in Basic English

2 It would be well for him if a great stone was put round his neck and he was dropped into the sea, before he made trouble for any of these little ones.
3 Give attention to yourselves: if your brother does wrong, say a sharp word to him; and if he has sorrow for his sin, let him have forgiveness.
4 And if he does you wrong seven times in a day, and seven times comes to you and says, I have regret for what I have done; let him have forgiveness.
5 And the twelve said to the Lord, Make our faith greater.
6 And the Lord said, If your faith was only as great as a grain of mustard seed, you might say to this tree, Be rooted up and planted in the sea; and it would be done.
7 But which of you, having a servant who is ploughing or keeping sheep, will say to him, when he comes in from the field, Come now and be seated and have a meal,
8 Will he not say, Get a meal for me, and make yourself ready and see to my needs till I have had my food and drink; and after that you may have yours?
9 Does he give praise to the servant because he did what was ordered?
10 In the same way, when you have done all the things which are given you to do, say, There is no profit in us, for we have only done what we were ordered to do.
11 And it came about that when they were on the way to Jerusalem he went through Samaria and Galilee.
12 And when he went into a certain small town he came across ten men who were lepers, and they, keeping themselves at a distance,
13 Said, in loud voices, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them he said, Go, and let the priests see you. And, while they were going, they were made clean.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was clean, turning back, gave praise to God in a loud voice;
16 And, falling down on his face at the feet of Jesus, he gave the credit to him; and he was a man of Samaria.
17 And Jesus said, Were there not ten men who were made clean? where are the nine?
18 Have not any of them come back to give glory to God, but only this one from a strange land?
19 And he said to him, Get up, and go on your way; your faith has made you well.
20 And when the Pharisees put questions to him about when the kingdom of God would come, he gave them an answer and said, The kingdom of God will not come through observation:
21 And men will not say, See, it is here! or, There! for the kingdom of God is among you.
22 And he said to his disciples, The time will come when you will have a great desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, but you will not see it.
23 And if they say to you, See, it is there! or, It is here! do not go away, or go after them.
24 For as in a thunderstorm the bright light is seen from one end of the sky to the other, so will the Son of man be when his time comes.
25 But first, he will have to undergo much and be put on one side by this generation.
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the day of the Son of man.
27 They were feasting and taking wives and getting married, till the day of the overflowing of the waters, when Noah went into the ark, and they all came to destruction.
28 In the same way, in the days of Lot; they were feasting and trading, they were planting and building;
29 But on the day when Lot went out of Sodom, fire came down from heaven and destruction came on them all.
30 So will it be in the day of the revelation of the Son of man.
31 On that day, if anyone is on the roof of the house, and his goods are in the house, let him not go down to take them away; and let him who is in the field not go back to his house.
32 Keep in mind Lot's wife.
33 If anyone makes an attempt to keep his life, it will be taken from him, but if anyone gives up his life, he will keep it.

2 It would be more profitable for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than that he should be a snare to one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he should repent, forgive him.
4 And if he should sin against thee seven times in the day, and seven times should return to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, Give more faith to us.
6 But the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye had said to this sycamine tree, Be thou rooted up, and be thou planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.
7 But which of you is there who, having a bondman ploughing or shepherding, when he comes in out of the field, will say, Come and lie down immediately to table?
8 But will he not say to him, Prepare what I shall sup on, and gird thyself and serve me that I may eat and drink; and after that thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Is he thankful to the bondman because he has done what was ordered? I judge not.
10 Thus ye also, when ye shall have done all things that have been ordered you, say, We are unprofitable bondmen; we have done what it was our duty to do.
11 And it came to pass as he was going up to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village ten leprous men met him, who stood afar off.
13 And they lifted up their voice saying, Jesus, Master, have compassion on us.
14 And seeing them he said to them, Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, seeing that he was cured, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
16 and fell on his face at his feet giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? but the nine, where are they?
18 There have not been found to return and give glory to God save this stranger.
19 And he said to him, Rise up and go thy way: thy faith has made thee well.
20 And having been asked by the Pharisees, When is the kingdom of God coming? he answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation;
21 nor shall they say, Lo here, or, Lo there; for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.
22 And he said to the disciples, Days are coming, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see it.
23 And they will say to you, Lo here, or Lo there; go not, nor follow them.
24 For as the lightning shines which lightens from one end under heaven to the other end under heaven, thus shall the Son of man be in his day.
25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.
26 And as it took place in the days of Noe, thus also shall it be in the days of the Son of man:
27 they ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed all of them;
28 and in like manner as took place in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed all of them:
30 after this manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he who shall be on the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not go down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32 Remember the wife of Lot.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.

2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to fall.
3 Watch out for yourselves: if your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
4 Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in that day returns, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6 So the Lord said: “If you had faith like a mustard seed has, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 “And which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he comes in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline to eat’?
8 Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, and gird yourself and serve me until I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’?
9 Does he thank that slave because he did the things commanded? I guess not!
10 So likewise you, whenever you have done everything you were told to do, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves, because we have only done what we were supposed to.’ ”
11 Now as He was traveling toward Jerusalem, He went along between Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as He entered a certain village, ten men met Him—being lepers they stood at a distance.
13 They called out, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 And paying attention He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” It happened that as they went they were cleansed!
15 Well one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, glorifying God with a loud voice;
16 then he fell on his face at His feet, thanking Him—and he was a Samaritan!
17 So Jesus reacted by saying: “Were not all ten cleansed? So where are the nine?
18 None were found to return and give glory to God except this foreigner!”
19 Then He said to him, “Get up and go; your faith has made you well.”
20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said: “The Kingdom of God does not come with observation;
21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘Look, there!’ because indeed the Kingdom of God is within you.”
22 Then He said to the disciples: “Days are coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of the Man, and you will not see it.
23 And they will say to you, ‘Look, here!’ or ‘Look, there!’ Do not go along or follow.
24 Because just like the lightning that lights the whole sky when it flashes, so also will the Son of the Man be in His day.
25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 Also, just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of the Man.

2 For such people it would be better to have a millstone hung around the neck and be thrown into the sea than to cause these little ones to sin.
3 So take care what you do. If your brother sins, warn him; and if he repents, forgive him.
4 Even if he sins against you seven times a day, and seven times comes back and tells you, ‘I'm really sorry,’ forgive him.”
5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Help us to have more trust!”
6 The Lord replied, “Even if your trust was as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Uproot yourself, and plant yourself in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 Say you have a servant who does plowing or shepherding. When he comes in from work, do you say to him, ‘Come in and sit down now for a meal’?
8 No. You say to him, ‘Prepare a meal for me, get yourself dressed, and serve me until I've finished my meal. After that you can have your meal.’
9 And do you thank the servant for doing what you told him? No.
10 Likewise once you've done everything you were told, you should simply say, ‘We are undeserving servants. We just did our duty.’”
11 As Jesus continued on his way to Jerusalem, he passed along the border between Samaria and Galilee.
12 As he entered a particular village, ten lepers met him, standing at a distance.
13 They called out, “Jesus, Master, please have mercy on us.”
14 When Jesus saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” On their way there, they were healed.
15 One of them when he saw that he was healed, returned to Jesus, shouting praises to God.
16 He fell down at Jesus' feet, thanking him. He was a Samaritan.
17 “Weren't ten lepers healed?” Jesus asked. “Where are the other nine?
18 Didn't anyone else come back to praise God—only this foreigner?”
19 Jesus told the man, “Get up and go on your way. Your trust has healed you.”
20 Once, when the Pharisees came and asked him when God's kingdom would come, Jesus replied, “God's kingdom doesn't come with visible signs that you can observe.
21 People won't be saying, ‘Look, it's here’ or ‘Look, it's there,’ for God's kingdom is among you.”
22 Then Jesus told the disciples, “The time is coming when you'll long to see the day when the Son of man comes, but you won't see it.
23 They'll be telling you, ‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is,’ but don't go running off after them.
24 The day when the Son of man comes will be just like lightning that flashes, lighting up the sky from one side to the other.
25 But first he will have to suffer many things, and be rejected by this generation.
26 The time when the Son of man comes will be like it was in Noah's day.
27 People went on eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah went into the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 It will be like it was in Lot's day. People went on eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
29 But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 The day when the Son of man appears will be just like that.
31 If you're up on the roof that day don't go down and get your things; and if you're out in the fields don't go back home either.
32 Remember Lot's wife!

3 Take heede to your selues: if thy brother trespasse against thee, rebuke him: and if hee repent, forgiue him.
4 And though he sinne against thee seuen times in a day, and seuen times in a day turne againe to thee, saying, It repenteth mee, thou shalt forgiue him.
5 And the Apostles saide vnto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith, as much as is a graine of mustard seede, and should say vnto this mulberie tree, Plucke thy selfe vp by the rootes, and plant thy selfe in the sea, it should euen obey you.
7 Who is it also of you, that hauing a seruant plowing or feeding cattell, woulde say vnto him by and by, when hee were come from the fielde, Goe, and sit downe at table?
8 And woulde not rather say to him, Dresse wherewith I may suppe, and girde thy selfe, and serue mee, till I haue eaten and drunken, and afterward eate thou, and drinke thou?
9 Doeth he thanke that seruant, because hee did that which was commanded vnto him? I trowe not.
10 So likewise yee, when yee haue done all those things, which are commanded you, say, We are vnprofitable seruants: wee haue done that which was our duetie to doe.
11 And so it was when he went to Hierusalem, that he passed through the middes of Samaria, and Galile.
12 And as hee entred into a certaine towne, there met him tenne men that were lepers, which stoode a farre off.
13 And they lift vp their voyces and saide, Iesus, Master, haue mercie on vs.
14 And when he saw them, he said vnto them, Goe, shewe your selues vnto the Priestes. And it came to passe, that as they went, they were clensed.
15 Then one of them, when hee sawe that hee, was healed, turned backe, and with a loude voyce praised God,
16 And fell downe on his face at his feete, and gaue him thankes: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Iesus answered, and said, Are there not tenne clensed? but where are the nine?
18 There is none founde that returned to giue God praise, saue this stranger.
19 And he saide vnto him, Arise, goe thy way, thy faith hath saued thee.
20 And when hee was demaunded of the Pharises, when the kingdome of God shoulde come, he answered them, and said, The kingdome of God commeth not with obseruation.
21 Neither shall men say, Loe here, or lo there: for behold, the kingdome of God is within you.
22 And he saide vnto the disciples, The dayes will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the dayes of the Sonne of man, and ye shall not see it.
23 Then they shall say to you, Behold here, or beholde there: but goe not thither, neither follow them.
24 For as the lightening that lighteneth out of the one part vnder heauen, shineth vnto the other part vnder heauen, so shall the Sonne of man be in his day.
25 But first must he suffer many things, and be reprooued of this generation.
26 And as it was in the dayes of Noe, so shall it be in the dayes of the Sonne of man.
27 They ate, they dranke, they married wiues, and gaue in marriage vnto the day that Noe went into the Arke: and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also, as it was in the dayes of Lot: they ate, they dranke, they bought, they solde, they planted, they built.
29 But in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heauen, and destroyed them all.
30 After these ensamples shall it be in the day when the Sonne of man is reueiled.
31 At that day hee that is vpon the house, and his stuffe in ye house, let him not come downe to take it out: and he that is in the fielde likewise, let him not turne backe to that he left behinde.
32 Remember Lots wife.
33 Whosoeuer will seeke to saue his soule, shall loose it: and whosoeuer shall loose it, shall get it life.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here: or, lo there: for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.
24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32 Remember Lot’s wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Luke 17:2-33 in George Noyes Bible

2 It were better for him to have a millstone hung round his neck, and be cast into the sea, than to cause one of these little ones to fall away.
3 Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother sin, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he sin against thee seven times in a day, and seven times turn to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, Give us more faith.
6 But the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard, ye might say to this sycamine-tree, Be plucked up by the roots, and planted in the sea! and it would obey you.
7 And which of you having a servant plowing, or feeding cattle, will say to him, when he hath come in from the field, Come immediately and place thyself at table?
8 Will he not rather say to him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself and serve me till I have eaten and drunken, and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Doth he owe any thanks to that servant, because he did what was commanded?
10 So also do ye, when ye have done all that hath been commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were bound to do.
11 And it came to pass, as he was going to Jerusalem, that he was traveling on the confines of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten lepers, who stood afar off.
13 And they lifted up their voice, saying, Jesus, Master, have pity on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said to them, Go, show yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they were on their way, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, perceiving that he was freed from his disease, turned back, giving glory to God with a loud voice;
16 and he fell down on his face at his feet, giving thanks to him; and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were not the ten cleansed? Where are the nine?
18 Were there none found returning to give glory to God but this foreigner?
19 And he said to him, Rise and go; thy faith hath made thee well.
20 And being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not in such a manner as to be watched for;
21 nor will they say, Lo here! or there! for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.
22 And he said to the disciples, The days will come, when ye will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and will not see it.
23 And they will say to you, Lo there! lo here! Go not away, and follow not.
24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of one part under heaven, shineth to the other part under heaven, so will the Son of man be in his day.
25 But first he must suffer much, and be rejected by this generation.
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 In like manner, as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 but on the day when Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Thus will it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, let not him who is upon the house-top, and whose furniture is in the house, come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not turn back.
32 Remember Lot's wife.

2 It would be good for them if they had been flung into the sea with a millstone around their neck, rather than that they should prove a trap even one of these little ones.

11 As he was on his way to Jerusalem City of peace, he was passing along the borders of Samaria Watch-mountain and Galilee District, Circuit.
12 As he entered into a certain village, ten men who were afflicted with tzara'at ·leprosy· met him, who stood at a distance.

Luke 17:2-33 in Plain English Version

2 If anyone gets a little one to do something bad, God will properly punish that person. Suppose somebody will get a big rock and tie it to that person’s neck and throw him into the sea and drown him, that will be bad for him, but not as bad as the trouble God will give him for getting that little one to go wrong.
3 So be careful.” Then Jesus said, “If another Christian does something bad to you, and then they say, ‘I’m sorry, I will not do that again,’ then you have to let it go. Don’t think about any payback.
4 Maybe they do that a lot, like 7 times in one day, and each time they turn around and say they are sorry. If they do that, you have to let it go every time.”
5 The 12 close followers of Jesus said to him, “Show us how to trust you properly.”
6 Jesus said, “You know that plant called mustard? It has very little seeds, but they grow into a big plant. Well, if you really trust me, even if it is just a little bit, you will get stronger and trust me more. Then if you say to that tree, ‘Get up out of the ground and go over there and throw yourself into the sea,’ that tree will do what you tell it to do.”
7 And Jesus said to his followers, “You know about bosses and their workers. Maybe a worker is digging the ground to plant seeds, or maybe he is looking after sheep. When the sun starts to go down the worker comes back to the house of his boss. That boss doesn’t say, ‘Sit down with me and we will have dinner together.’
8 No. The boss says, ‘Get my dinner ready for me. Then put on clean clothes and bring me my dinner. After I finish eating you can get yourself a feed.’
9 That boss never says thank you to his worker. You see, his worker just did what the boss told him to do. He didn’t do anything more.
10 Well, it is the same with you. You are my workers. When you do what I tell you to do, just say to yourselves, ‘We are not special people. We are workers that only did what our boss told us to do.’”
11 After that Jesus kept going along the road to the city called Jerusalem, going from Galilee country into Samaria country.
12 He came to a community, and he started to go into it, but 10 men met him there. They all had a bad skin sickness, so they didn’t come close to Jesus, but they stood a little way from him and shouted to him.
13 They said, “Jesus, Sir, please be sorry for us.”
14 Jesus looked at them and said, “All right. Go to the leaders of our Jewish ceremonies and let them look at you skin.” So they started to go to those ceremony leaders, and while they were walking along they got better. Their skin was good again.
15 One of them looked at his skin and saw that it was good again, so he turned around and came back to Jesus. He shouted, “God is really good and really great.”
16 And he got down on his knees in front of Jesus, to show him respect, and said, “Thank you, Sir.” This man was not a Jew, like Jesus and his followers, but he came from the Samaria tribe.
17 Jesus asked the man, “I made 10 men better, didn’t I? Where are the other 9 men?”
18 Then he said, “None of the Jewish men came back to say thank you to God. Only this man from another country did that.”
19 Then Jesus said to the man, “You can stand up now and go home. You believed in me, so now you are better.”
20 At one time some of the law men called Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will God come and start his family here on the earth, and be the boss of his people?” Jesus said, “You will not see anything different when God starts his family here. People can’t see it happen.
21 Nobody will say, ‘Look, everyone, God is the boss here,’ or, ‘Look over there and you will see that God is the boss there.’ No, it is not like that. You see, God is already getting people into his family right now. His family is right here among you mob.”
22 Then Jesus said to his followers, “The time will come when you will really want to see me, God’s special man from heaven. You will want to see me again, but you will not see me at that time.
23 People will say to you, ‘Look, there he is, over there,’ or they might say, ‘Here he is, over here.’ But don’t take any notice of them. Don’t try to find me.
24 You see, I am God’s special man from heaven, and when I come back I will be like the lightning. You know the way it flashes really bright, and everyone can see it. Well, I will be like that. Everyone will see me.
25 But first, before that happens, the people that are alive today will reckon they don’t want me to be their boss, and they will hurt me a lot.
26 Do you remember the story about the good man called Noah? At that time, long ago, he was making a big boat. The bad people there were living the way they always lived. They ate and drank, and they promised wives to each other, and they got married. They kept on living that way right up till the time Noah and his family went up on to that big boat. Then a big flood of water came and finished all those bad people. You see, people will be the same as that just before I, God’s special man, will come back from heaven.
28 And remember the story about the good man called Lot. He lived in a city called Sodom. A lot of bad people lived there. Those people were living the way they always lived. They ate and drank, and they bought things and sold things, and they planted seeds in their gardens, and they built houses for themselves. They kept on living that way right up till the day that Lot and his family ran out of that city. Then God sent fire and burning rocks down from the sky, and it burned all of those bad people, and finished them.
30 The people will be like that. They will be living the same way as they always live, right up till the day that I come back here to show myself to everybody. I am God’s special man from heaven.
31 On that day, you will have to run away. If you are outside your house, don’t go in and pack up your things to take with you. No. Just run away. If you are out in the bush, don’t go back to your house to get anything. No. Just run away.
32 Think again about that story about Lot and his family. Do you remember what his wife did? While they were running away she stopped and looked back at the city, like she wanted to go back there, and she died right there.
33 You see, it’s like this. If you try to keep on living here on this earth, you will die. But if you follow me and don’t worry about your life here on this earth, you will live in heaven for ever.

10 Soo lyke wyse ye when ye have done all thoose thinges which are commaunded you: saye we are vnprofitable servautes. We have done: ye which was oure duetye to do.
11 And it chaunsed as he went to Ierusalem that he passed thorow Samaria and Galile.

23 And they shall saye to you: Se here Se there. Goo not after them nor folowe them

30 After these ensamples shall it be in the daye when the sonne of man shall appere.

18 Were there no others who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”
19 He said to him, “Arise, and go. Your faith has made you well.”
20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with careful observing.
21 Neither will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or, 'There it is!' For look, the kingdom of God is within you.”
22 He said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
23 Then they will say to you, 'Look, there! Look, here!' But do not go out or run after them,
24 for as the lightning shines brightly when it flashes from one part of the sky to another part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 As it happened in the days of Noah, even so will it also happen in the days of the Son of Man.
27 They ate, they drank, they married, and they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark—and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise, even as it happened in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
29 But in the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 After the same manner it will be in the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
31 In that day, do not let him who is on the housetop go down to get his goods out of the house; and do not let him who is in the field return.
32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will save it.

2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.
3 Be careful. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him.

5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
6 The Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you would tell this sycamore tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
7 But who is there among you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say when he comes in from the field, ‘Come immediately and sit down at the table’?
8 Wouldn’t he rather tell him, ‘Prepare my supper, clothe yourself properly, and serve me while I eat and drink. Afterward you shall eat and drink’?
9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded? I think not.
10 Even so you also, when you have done all the things that are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.’”

2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to fall into sin.
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother shall trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he shall repent forgive him.
4 And if he shall trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day shall turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard-seed, ye might say to this sycamine-tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would obey you.
7 But which of you having a servant plowing, or feeding cattle, will say to him immediately, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to eat?
8 And will not rather say to him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drank; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Doth he thank that servant, because he did the things that were commanded him? I suppose not.
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all the things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which it was our duty to do.

7 But who of you hath a seruaunt erynge, or lesewynge oxis, which seith to hym, whanne he turneth ayen fro the feeld, Anoon go, and sitte to mete;
8 and seith not to hym, Make redi, that Y soupe, and girde thee, and serue me, while Y ete and drynke, and aftir this thou schalt ete and drynke;
9 whether he hath grace to that seruaunt, for he dide that that he comaundide hym?
10 Nay, Y gesse. So ye, whanne ye han don alle thingis that ben comaundid to you, seie ye, We ben vnprofitable seruauntis, we han do that that we ouyten to do.
11 And it was do, the while Jhesus wente in to Jerusalem, he passide thorou the myddis of Samarie, and Galilee.
12 And whanne he entride in to a castel, ten leprouse men camen ayens hym, whiche stoden afer,
13 and reiseden her voys, and seiden, Jhesu, comaundoure, haue merci on vs.
14 And as he say hem, he seide, Go ye, `schewe ye you to the prestis. And it was don, the while thei wenten, thei weren clensid.
15 And oon of hem, as he saiy that he was clensid, wente ayen, magnifiynge God with grete vois.
16 And he fel doun on the face bifore hise feet, and dide thankyngis; and this was a Samaritan.
17 And Jhesus answerde, and seide, Whether ten ben not clensid, and where ben the nyne?
18 There is noon foundun, that turnede ayen, and yaf glorie to God, but this alien.
19 And he seide to hym, Rise vp, go thou; for thi feith hath maad thee saaf.
20 And he was axid of Farisees, whanne the rewme of God cometh. And he answerde to hem, and seide, The rewme of God cometh not with aspiyng,
21 nether thei schulen seie, Lo! here, or lo there; for lo! the rewme of God is with ynne you.
22 And he seide to hise disciplis, Daies schulen come, whanne ye schulen desire to se o dai of mannus sone, and ye schulen not se.
23 And thei schulen seie to you, Lo! here, and lo there. Nyle ye go, nether sue ye;
24 for as leyt schynynge from vndur heuene schyneth in to tho thingis that ben vndur heuene, so schal mannus sone be in his dai.
25 But first it bihoueth hym to suffre many thingis, and to be repreued of this generacioun.
26 And as it was doon in the daies of Noe, so it schal be in the daies of mannys sone.
27 Thei eeten and drunkun, weddiden wyues, and weren youun to weddyngis, til in to the dai in the whych Noe entride in to the schip; and the greet flood cam, and loste alle.
28 Also as it was don in the daies of Loth, thei eeten and drunkun, bouyten and seelden, plauntiden and bildiden; but the dai that Loth wente out of Sodome,
29 the Lord reynede fier and brymstoon fro heuene, and loste alle.
30 Lijk this thing it schal be, in what dai mannys sone schal be schewid.
31 In that our he that is in the roof, and his vessels in the hous, come he not doun to take hem awei; and he that schal be in the feeld, also turne not ayen bihynde.
32 Be ye myndeful of the wijf of Loth.
33 Who euer seketh to make his lijf saaf, schal leese it; and who euer leesith it, schal quykene it.
Luke 17 in Wycliffe Bible

Luke 17:2-33 in Young's Literal Translation

2 it is more profitable to him if a weighty millstone is put round about his neck, and he hath been cast into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to stumble.
3 'Take heed to yourselves, and, if thy brother may sin in regard to thee, rebuke him, and if he may reform, forgive him,
4 and if seven times in the day he may sin against thee, and seven times in the day may turn back to thee, saying, I reform; thou shalt forgive him.'
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, 'Add to us faith;'
6 and the Lord said, 'If ye had faith as a grain of mustard, ye would have said to this sycamine, Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you.
7 'But, who is he of you — having a servant ploughing or feeding — who, to him having come in out of the field, will say, Having come near, recline at meat?
8 but will not rather say to him, Prepare what I may sup, and having girded thyself about, minister to me, till I eat and drink, and after these things thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Hath he favour to that servant because he did the things directed? I think not.
10 'So also ye, when ye may have done all the things directed you, say — We are unprofitable servants, because that which we owed to do — we have done.'
11 And it came to pass, in his going on to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee,
12 and he entering into a certain village, there met him ten leprous men, who stood afar off,
13 and they lifted up the voice, saying, 'Jesus, master, deal kindly with us;'
14 and having seen them, he said to them, 'Having gone on, shew yourselves to the priests;' and it came to pass, in their going, they were cleansed,
15 and one of them having seen that he was healed did turn back, with a loud voice glorifying God,
16 and he fell upon his face at his feet, giving thanks to him, and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, 'Were not the ten cleansed, and the nine — where?
18 There were not found who did turn back to give glory to God, except this alien;'
19 and he said to him, 'Having risen, be going on, thy faith hath saved thee.'
20 And having been questioned by the Pharisees, when the reign of God doth come, he answered them, and said, 'The reign of God doth not come with observation;
21 nor shall they say, Lo, here; or lo, there; for lo, the reign of God is within you.'
22 And he said unto his disciples, 'Days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and ye shall not behold it;
23 and they shall say to you, Lo, here; or lo, there; ye may not go away, nor follow;
24 for as the lightning that is lightening out of the one part under heaven, to the other part under heaven doth shine, so shall be also the Son of Man in his day;
25 and first it behoveth him to suffer many things, and to be rejected by this generation.
26 'And, as it came to pass in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man;
27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the deluge came, and destroyed all;
28 in like manner also, as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
29 and on the day Lot went forth from Sodom, He rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed all.
30 'According to these things it shall be, in the day the Son of Man is revealed;
31 in that day, he who shall be on the house top, and his vessels in the house, let him not come down to take them away; and he in the field, in like manner, let him not turn backward;
32 remember the wife of Lot.
33 Whoever may seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whoever may lose it, shall preserve it.
