Luke 16:16-23 in American Standard Version (1901)

16 The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it.
17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall.
18 Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery.
19 Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:
20 and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table; yea, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.
23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luke 16:16-23 in Translation for Translators

16 The laws that God gave Moses and what the prophets MTY wrote were ◄ in effect/what you needed to obey► until John the Baptizer came. Since then I have been preaching about how God wants to rule people's lives in a new way, and many people are accepting that message and very eagerly asking God to control their lives. But that does not mean that God has abolished the laws that he established previously.
17 All of God's laws, even those that seem insignificant, are more permanent than heaven and earth.
18 For example, because God considers that a marriage lasts until either the husband or the wife dies, he considers that any man who divorces his wife and marries another woman is committing adultery. He also considers that any man who marries a woman who has been divorced by her husband {whose husband has divorced her} is also committing adultery.”
19 Jesus also said MET, “Once there was a rich man who wore expensive purple linen garments. He ate luxuriously every day.
20 And every day a poor man whose name was Lazarus was laid { some people also laid a poor man whose name was Lazarus} at the gate of the rich man's house. Lazarus' body was covered with sores.
21 He was so hungry that he wanted to eat the scraps of food that fell from the table where the rich man ate. Furthermore, to make things worse, dogs came and licked his sores.
22 Eventually the poor man died. Then he was taken by the angels {the angels took him} to start feasting next to his ancestor Abraham. The rich man also died, and his body was buried { some people buried his body}.
23 In the place where dead people wait for God to judge them, he was suffering great pain. He looked up and saw Abraham far away, and he saw Lazarus sitting close to Abraham.

Luke 16:16-23 in Bible in Basic English

16 The law and the prophets were till John: but then came the preaching of the kingdom of God, and everyone makes his way into it by force.
17 But heaven and earth will come to an end before the smallest letter of the law may be dropped out.
18 Everyone who puts away his wife and takes another, is a false husband: and he who is married to a woman whose husband has put her away, is no true husband to her.
19 Now there was a certain man of great wealth, who was dressed in fair clothing of purple and delicate linen, and was shining and glad every day.
20 And a certain poor man, named Lazarus, was stretched out at his door, full of wounds,
21 Desiring the broken bits of food which came from the table of the man of wealth; and even the dogs came and put their tongues on his wounds.
22 And in time the poor man came to his end, and angels took him to Abraham's breast. And the man of wealth came to his end, and was put in the earth.
23 And in hell, being in great pain, lifting up his eyes he saw Abraham, far away, and Lazarus on his breast.

20 And there was a poor man, by name Lazarus, who was laid at his gateway full of sores,
21 and desiring to be filled with the crumbs which fell from the table of the rich man; but the dogs also coming licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass that the poor man died, and that he was carried away by the angels into the bosom of Abraham. And the rich man also died and was buried.

Luke 16:16-23 in Plain English Version

16 You know, God gave Moses the law for people to follow, and he sent other men to tell people God’s messages. And God’s people followed those words, from the time of Moses until the time that John the Baptiser came. Then John told people about the new way. And I’m telling people about that new way too. I’m telling them how to join God’s family, too, and now lots of people are trying hard to get into God’s family.
17 But the laws from Moses will not go away. You know, the sky and the earth will stay here for a long time, and while they stay here, God’s words will stay here too. God won’t change any little bit of them. They will stay here till everything in them happens.”
18 Then Jesus said, “Some of those words from God are about people that want to break up their marriage. It is wrong. If a man divorces his wife and marries another woman, he is sleeping with the wrong woman. She is not his proper wife. And if another man marries the divorced woman, that man is sleeping with the wrong woman, too.”
19 Jesus told them another picture story. He said, “There was a rich man that always wore real good clothes, and he always had plenty of good food to eat.
20 And there was a very poor man, called Lazarus, that had a lot of sores on his body. He was hungry, but he had nothing to eat, so he lay down at the gate of the rich man’s house.
21 He hoped he might get some of the rubbish food that the rich man chucked away. That rich man didn’t give him any good food. The dogs there used to lick that poor man’s sores.
22 Then one day the poor man died, and God sent his angel messengers to get him and take him to heaven to be with Abraham, our grand-father of a long time ago. Then later the rich man died, and his family buried his body.
23 But he went to the bad place called hell. He was in a big fire in that place, and it hurt him a lot. Then he looked up and he saw Abraham, a long way off, and he saw Lazarus there with Abraham.

17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the Torah to become void.
18 “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
19 “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.
20 A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was taken to his gate, full of sores,
21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
23 In Sheol, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.

Luke 16:16-23 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling

16 The law and the prophets till to John; from that time the realm of God is evangelized or is preached, and each man doeth violence into it.
17 Forsooth it is lighter heaven and earth to pass, than that one tittle fall from the law.
18 Every man that forsaketh his wife, and weddeth another, doeth lechery or adultery; and he that weddeth the wife forsaken of the husband, doeth adultery.
19 There was a rich man, and was clothed in purple, and white silk, and ate every day shiningly.
20 And there was a beggar, Lazarus by name, that lay at his gate full of boils,
21 and coveted to be fulfilled of or with the crumbs, that fell down from the rich man’s board, and no man gave to him; but hounds came, and licked his boils.
22 And it was done, that the beggar died, and was borne of angels into Abraham’s bosom. And the rich man was dead also, and was buried in hell.
23 And he raised up his eyes, when he was in torments, and saw Abraham afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luke 16:16-23 in Young's Literal Translation

16 the law and the prophets are till John; since then the reign of God is proclaimed good news, and every one doth press into it;
17 and it is easier to the heaven and the earth to pass away, than of the law one tittle to fall.
18 'Every one who is sending away his wife, and marrying another, doth commit adultery; and every one who is marrying her sent away from a husband doth commit adultery.
19 'And — a certain man was rich, and was clothed in purple and fine linen, making merry sumptuously every day,
