³ Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.

⁴ Carry no purse, no wallet, no shoes; and salute no man on the way.

⁵ And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

⁶ And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.

⁷ And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

⁸ And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

⁹ and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

¹⁰ But into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof and say,

¹¹ Even the dust from your city, that cleaveth to our feet, we wipe off against you: nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.

¹² I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

¹³ Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁴ But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.

¹⁵ And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt be brought down unto Hades.

¹⁶ He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.

¹⁷ And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us in thy name.

¹⁸ And he said unto them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven.

¹⁹ Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.

²⁰ Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

²¹ In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes: yea, Father; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.

²² All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.

²³ And turning to the disciples, he said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

²⁴ for I say unto you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

²⁶ And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

²⁷ And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

²⁸ And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

³⁰ Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

³¹ And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

³² And in like manner a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion,

³⁴ and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine; and he set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵ And on the morrow he took out two shillings, and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come back again, will repay thee.

³⁶ Which of these three, thinkest thou, proved neighbor unto him that fell among the robbers?

³⁷ And he said, He that showed mercy on him. And Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

³⁸ Now as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet, and heard his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

⁴¹ But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:

⁴¹ But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:

³ Start going; but remember that I am sending you (pl) out to tell my message to people who will try to get rid of you. You will be like lambs among wolves.

⁴ Do not take along any money in a purse. Do not take a traveler's bag. Do not take extra sandals. Do not spend a lot of time greeting people along the way.

⁵ Whenever you enter a house to lodge there, first say to those people, ‘May God give inner peace to you people MTY in this house!’

⁶ If people who live there are ◄desiring to have/worthy of receiving► God's peace, they will experience the inner peace that you are offering them. If people who live there are not desiring to have God's peace, you will experience God's inner peace, but they will not.

⁷ If they welcome you, stay in that same house until you leave that village. Do not move around from one house to another. Eat and drink whatever they provide for you. A worker deserves to get pay MET from the people for whom he works, so you deserve to receive food and a place to stay from the people to whom you go.

⁸ Whenever you enter a town and the people there welcome you, eat what is provided {what they provide} for you.

⁹ Heal the people there who are sick. Tell them, ‘It is almost time for God to send his king to rule MET your lives.’

¹⁰ But if you enter a town whose people do not welcome you, go into its main streets and say,

¹¹ ‘ Because you have refused to hear our message, we(exc) will not only leave, we will also shake off the dust of your town that clings to our sandals, to warn you that God will reject/punish you. But we want you to know that it is almost the time when God will start to rule!’

¹² I will tell you this: On the MTY final day when God judges everyone, he will punish the wicked people MTY who long ago lived in Sodom, the city that he destroyed because its people were so wicked. But he will punish even more severely the people MTY of any town whose people refused to hear your message!”

¹³ “There will be terrible punishment for you people who live in MTY Chorazin and Bethsaida cities. I did great miracles in your cities to show God's power, but you did not turn from your sinful behavior. If the miracles that I performed in your cities had been done in Tyre and Sidon cities, the wicked people who lived there would have long ago shown that they were sorry for their sins by sitting on the ground wearing coarse cloth and putting ashes on their heads.

¹⁴ But they did not have the opportunity that you have, so when God punishes people, he will punish the wicked people who lived in Tyre and Sidon, but he will punish you more severely because you did not pay attention to my message.

¹⁵ I also have something to say to you people who live in Capernaum city. ◄Do not think that you will be honored { that God will honor you} in heaven!/Do you think that you will be honored { that God will honor you} in heaven?► RHQ That will not happen! On the contrary, after you die, God will send you down to the place where sinful people will be punished forever!”

¹⁶ Jesus also said to the disciples, “God will consider that those who listen to your message are listening to me, and that those who reject your message are rejecting me. And he will consider that those who reject me are rejecting God, the one who sent me.”

¹⁷ The seventy-two people whom Jesus appointed went and did as he told them to. When they returned, they were very joyful. They said, “Lord, people did what we(exc) told them to do! Demons also obeyed us when by your (sg) authority MTY we commanded them to leave people!”

¹⁸ Jesus replied, “ When those demons were obeying you, because God had enabled you to defeat them, it was as though MET I saw Satan fall from heaven as suddenly and quickly as lightning strikes.

¹⁹ Listen! I have given you authority so that if you oppose evil spirits MET they will not hurt you. I have given you authority to defeat our enemy, Satan. Nothing shall hurt you.

²⁰ But although you can rejoice that evil spirits obey you, you should rejoice more that your names have been written {that God has written your names} in heaven, because you will be with God forever.”

²¹ At that time the Holy Spirit caused Jesus to be very happy. He said, “Father, you (sg) rule over everything in heaven and on the earth! Some people think that they are wise because they are well-educated. But I thank you that you have prevented them from knowing these things. Instead, you have revealed them to people who accept your truth as readily MET as little children do. Yes, Father, you have done that because it seemed good to you to do so.”

²² Jesus also said to the 72 disciples, “ God, my Father, has revealed to me all I need to know and the power I need for my work. Only my Father knows who I really am. Furthermore, only I and those people to whom I wish to reveal him know what God my Father is like.”

²³ Then when Jesus' disciples were alone with him, he turned toward them and said, “ God is pleased with you SYN who have seen the things that I have done!

²⁴ I want you to know that many prophets and kings who lived long ago desired to see the things that you are seeing me do, but these things did not happen then. They longed to hear the things that you have been hearing me say, but these things were not revealed to them then.”

²⁵ One day as Jesus was teaching people, a man was there who had studied carefully the laws that God gave Moses. He wanted to ask Jesus a difficult question. So he stood up and asked, “Teacher, what shall I do in order to live with God forever?”

²⁶ Jesus said to him, “You (sg) have read RHQ what Moses has written in the laws that God gave him. What did Moses write about living forever?”

²⁷ The man replied, “ He wrote that we (inc) must love the Lord our God. We must show that by what we feel and by what we do and by what we think. He also wrote that we must love people that we come in contact with as much as we love ourselves.”

²⁸ Jesus replied, “You (sg) have answered your question correctly. If you do all that continually, you will live with God forever.”

²⁹ But the man wanted to defend the way he acted toward people that he came in contact with (OR, to defend why he had asked a question that Jesus answered so simply). So he said to Jesus, “Which people that I come in contact with should I love?”

³⁰ Jesus replied by telling him this illustration: “A Jewish man was once going down along the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. Bandits attacked him. They took away most of the man's clothes and everything else that he had, and they beat him until he was almost dead. Then they left him.

³¹ It happened that a Jewish priest was going along that road. When he saw that man, instead of helping him, he passed by on the other side of the road.

³² Similarly, a man who worked in the temple in Jerusalem came to that place and saw the man. But he also passed by on the other side of the road.

³³ Then a man from Samaria province came along that road to where the man was lying. People from Samaria despise Jews. But when he saw that man, he pitied him.

³⁴ He went over to him and put some olive oil and wine on his wounds to help heal them. He wound strips of cloth around the wounds. He placed the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn and took care of him.

³⁵ The next morning he gave two silver coins to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of this man. If you (sg) spend more than this amount to care for him, I will pay you back when I return.’”

³⁶ Then Jesus said, “Three people saw the man whom bandits attacked. Which one of them acted in a loving way toward that man?”

³⁷ The man who studied the Scriptures replied, “The one who acted mercifully toward him.” Jesus said to him, “You (sg) go and act like that toward everyone whom you can help!”

³⁸ As Jesus and his disciples continued to travel, they entered a village near Jerusalem. A woman whose name was Martha invited them to come to her house.

³⁹ Her younger sister, whose name was Mary, sat near Jesus. She was listening to what he was teaching.

⁴⁰ But Martha was very much concerned about preparing a meal. She went to Jesus and said, “Lord, ◄ you do not seem to care that my sister has left me to prepare everything by myself!/do you not care that my sister has left me to prepare everything by myself?► RHQ Tell her that she should help me!”

⁴¹ But the Lord replied, “Martha, Martha, you (sg) are very worried about many things.

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,

³⁴ came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵ On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.’

³⁶ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”

³⁷ He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

¹¹ Even the dust of your town, which is on our feet, we put off as a witness against you; but be certain of this, that the kingdom of God is near.

¹² I say to you, It will be better in that day for Sodom than for that town.

¹³ A curse is on you, Chorazin! A curse is on you, Beth-saida! For if such works of power had been done in Tyre and Sidon as have been done in you, they would have been turned from their sins, in days gone by, seated in the dust.

¹⁴ But it will be better for Tyre and Sidon, in the day of judging, than for you.

¹⁵ And you, Capernaum, were you not lifted up to heaven? you will go down to hell.

¹⁶ Whoever gives ear to you, gives ear to me; and whoever is against you, is against me; and whoever is against me, is against him who sent me.

¹⁷ And the seventy came back with joy, saying, Lord, even the evil spirits are under our power in your name.

¹⁸ And he said, I was watching for Satan, falling from heaven like a star.

¹⁹ See, I have given you power to put your feet on snakes and evil beasts, and over all the strength of him who is against you: and nothing will do you damage.

²⁰ Do not be glad, however, because you have power over spirits, but because your names are recorded in heaven.

²¹ In that same hour he was full of joy in the Holy Spirit and said, I give praise to you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have kept these things secret from the wise and the men of learning, and have made them clear to little children: for so, O Father, it was pleasing in your eyes.

²⁴ For I say to you that numbers of prophets and kings have had a desire to see the things which you see, and have not seen them, and to have knowledge of the things which have come to your ears, and they had it not.

²⁵ And a certain teacher of the law got up and put him to the test, saying, Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life?

²⁶ And he said to him, What does the law say, in your reading of it?

²⁷ And he, answering, said, Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and for your neighbour as for yourself.

²⁸ And he said, You have given the right answer: do this and you will have life.

²⁹ But he, desiring to put himself in the right, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

³⁰ And Jesus, answering him, said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he got into the hands of thieves, who took his clothing and gave him cruel blows, and when they went away, he was half dead.

³¹ And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he went by on the other side.

³² And in the same way, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, went by on the other side.

³³ But a certain man of Samaria, journeying that way, came where he was, and when he saw him, he was moved with pity for him,

³⁴ And came to him and put clean linen round his wounds, with oil and wine; and he put him on his beast and took him to a house and took care of him.

³⁵ And the day after he took two pennies and gave them to the owner of the house and said, Take care of him; and if this money is not enough, when I come again I will give you whatever more is needed.

³⁶ Which of these three men, in your opinion, was neighbour to the man who came into the hands of thieves?

³⁷ And he said, The one who had mercy on him. And Jesus said, Go and do the same.

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sitting also at the Lord’s feet, heard his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha was busy about much serving. Who stood and said: Lord, hast thou no care that my sister hath left me alone to serve? speak to her therefore, that she help me.

⁴¹ And the Lord answering, said to her: Martha, Martha, thou art careful, and art troubled about many things:

³ Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

⁴ Do not carry a money bag, nor a knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road.

⁵ But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’

⁶ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon it; if not, it will return to you.

⁷ And remain in that very house, eating and drinking what they have, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move from house to house.

⁸ And into which ever city you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you.

⁹ And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has drawn near to you.’

¹⁰ But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,

¹¹ ‘The very dust from your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has drawn near to you.’

¹² I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for that city.

¹³ “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! Because if the miracles which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁴ Nevertheless it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.

¹⁵ And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.

¹⁶ He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”

¹⁷ Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

¹⁸ And He said to them, “I saw Satan having fallen like lightning out of heaven.

¹⁹ Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

²⁰ Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names have been written in heaven.”

²¹ In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to babes. Yes, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.”

²² And turning to His disciples He said, “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”

²³ And turning to His disciples He said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see what you see;

²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and they did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and they did not hear it.”

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

²⁶ He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?”

²⁷ So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

²⁸ And He said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you shall live.”

²⁹ But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

³⁰ Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and encountered bandits, who after having stripped him of his clothing and having wounded him, departed, leaving him half dead.

³¹ Now by coincidence a certain priest was coming down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.

³² Likewise a Levite, arriving at the place, came and saw, and passed by on the opposite side.

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled, came by him; and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion.

³⁴ And coming to him, he bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and putting him on his own animal, he brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵ On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever you spend in addition, when I come back, I will repay you.’

³⁶ So which of these three does it seem to you proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the bandits?”

³⁷ And he said, “the one who showed mercy to him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

³⁸ Now it came to pass as they traveled, that He entered into a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house.

³⁹ And the woman had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and was listening to His word.

⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, don't You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

⁴¹ And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.

⁴¹ But in answer Jesus said to her: “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and agitated about many things,

³ So get on your way: I'm sending you like sheep among wolves.

⁴ Don't take any money or a bag or extra sandals, and don't spend time chatting with people you meet.

⁵ Whatever house you enter, first of all say, ‘May this house have peace.’

⁶ If there's a peaceful person living there, then your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.

⁷ Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for a worker deserves to be paid. Don't go from house to house.

⁸ If you enter a town and the people there welcome you, then eat what's set before you

⁹ and heal those who are sick. Tell them, ‘God's kingdom has come to you.’

¹⁰ But if you enter a town and the people there don't welcome you, go through their streets telling them,

¹¹ ‘We are wiping off even the dust from your town that clings to our feet to show you our disapproval. But you should recognize this: God's kingdom has come.’

¹² I tell you, in the Day of Judgment it will be better for Sodom than for such a town.

¹³ Shame on you Korazin! Shame on you Bethsaida! For if the miracles you saw happen had happened in Tyre and Sidon they would have repented a long time ago, and they would be sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁴ That's why in the judgment it will be better for Tyre and Sidon than for you.

¹⁵ And you, Capernaum, you won't be exalted to heaven; you will go down to Hades.

¹⁶ Anyone who hears you hears me, and anyone who rejects you rejects me. But anyone who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

¹⁷ The seventy disciples returned in great excitement, saying, “Lord, even the demons do what we tell them in your name!”

¹⁸ Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

¹⁹ Yes, I have given you power to tread on snakes and scorpions, and to overcome all the enemy's strength, and nothing will harm you.

²⁰ But don't take delight that the spirits do what you tell them—just be glad that your names are written in heaven.”

²¹ At that moment Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and said, “I thank you Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for you hid these things from the wise and clever people and revealed them to children! Yes, Father, you were pleased to do it in this way.

²² My Father has handed over everything to me. No one understands the Son except the Father, and no one understands the Father except the Son, and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

²³ When they were by themselves Jesus turned to the disciples and told them, “Those who see what you're seeing should be really happy!

²⁴ I tell you, many prophets and kings have wanted to see what you're seeing, but they didn't see, and wanted to hear the things you're hearing, but didn't hear.”

²⁵ Once an expert in religious law stood up and tried to trap Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “What do I have to do to gain eternal life?”

²⁶ “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” asked Jesus.

²⁷ “You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and your whole spirit, and your whole strength, and your whole mind; and love your neighbor as yourself,” the man replied.

²⁸ “You're right,” Jesus told him. “Do this, and you will live.”

²⁹ But the man wanted to vindicate himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

³⁰ Jesus replied, saying, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. He was attacked by robbers who stripped him and beat him, and left him for dead.

³¹ It so happened that a priest was going the same way. He saw the man, but he passed by on the other side of the road.

³² Then a Levite came along. But when he got to the place and saw the man, he also passed by on the other side.

³³ Finally a Samaritan man came along. As he passed by, he saw the man and felt sorry for him.

³⁴ He went over and treated the man's wounds with oil and wine, and bandaged them. Then he placed the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn where he took care of him.

³⁵ The next day he gave two denarii to the innkeeper and told him, ‘Take care of him, and if you spend more than this, I'll pay you back when I return.’

³⁶ Which one of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by robbers?”

³⁷ “The one who showed him kindness,” the man replied. “Go and do the same,” Jesus told him.

³⁸ While they were on their way, Jesus arrived at a village, and a woman called Martha invited him to her home.

³⁹ She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching.

⁴⁰ Martha was concerned about all that needed to be done to prepare the meal, so she came to Jesus and said, “Master, don't you care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to come and help me!”

⁴¹ “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you're worried and upset about all this.

³ Goe your wayes: beholde, I send you foorth as lambes among wolues.

⁴ Beare no bagge, neither scrippe, nor shoes, and salute no man by the way.

⁵ And into whatsoeuer house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

⁶ And if the sonne of peace be there, your peace shall rest vpon him: if not, it shall turne to you againe.

⁷ And in that house tary still, eating and drinking such things as by them shall be set before you: for the labourer is worthy of his wages. Goe not from house to house.

⁸ But into whatsoeuer citie ye shall enter, if they receiue you, eate such things as are set before you,

⁹ And heale the sicke that are there, and say vnto them, The kingdome of God is come neere vnto you.

¹⁰ But into whatsoeuer citie ye shall enter, if they will not receiue you, goe your wayes out into the streetes of the same, and say,

¹¹ Euen the very dust, which cleaueth on vs of your citie, we wipe off against you: notwithstanding knowe this, that the kingdome of God was come neere vnto you.

¹² For I say to you, that it shall be easier in that day for them of Sodom, then for that citie.

¹⁹ Beholde, I giue vnto you power to treade on Serpents, and Scorpions, and ouer all the power of the enemie, and nothing shall hurt you.

²⁰ Neuerthelesse, in this reioyce not, that the spirits are subdued vnto you: but rather reioyce, because your names are written in heauen.

²¹ That same houre reioyced Iesus in the spirit, and said, I confesse vnto thee, Father, Lord of heauen and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and vnderstanding, and hast reueiled them to babes: euen so, Father, because it so pleased thee.

²² All things are giuen me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Sonne is, but the Father: neither who the Father is, saue the Sonne, and he to whom the Sonne will reueile him.

²³ And he turned to his disciples, and said secretly, Blessed are the eyes, which see that ye see.

²⁴ For I tell you that many Prophets and Kings haue desired to see those things, which ye see, and haue not seene them: and to heare those things which ye heare, and haue not heard them.

²⁵ Then beholde, a certaine Lawyer stoode vp, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I doe, to inherite eternall life?

²⁶ And he saide vnto him, What is written in the Lawe? howe readest thou?

²⁷ And he answered, and saide, Thou shalt loue thy Lord God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy strength, and with all thy thought, and thy neighbour as thy selfe.

²⁸ Then he said vnto him, Thou hast answered right: this doe, and thou shalt liue.

²⁹ But he willing to iustifie himselfe, said vnto Iesus, Who is then my neighbour?

³⁰ And Iesus answered, and saide, A certaine man went downe from Hierusalem to Iericho, and fell among theeues, and they robbed him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leauing him halfe dead.

³² And likewise also a Leuite, when he was come neere to the place, went and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

²⁴ For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye are seeing, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye are hearing, and heard them not.

²⁵ And lo! a certain lawyer stood up to try him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life?

²⁶ And he said to him, What is written in the Law? How readest thou?

²⁷ And he answering said “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.”

²⁸ And he said to him, Thou hast answered rightly; do this, and thou shalt live.

²⁹ But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

³⁰ Jesus answering said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers; who after stripping him of his raiment, and wounding him, departed, leaving him half dead.

³¹ And by chance a certain priest was going down on that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

³² And in like manner also a Levite, having arrived at the place, came and saw, and passed by on the other side.

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he was journeying, came where he was, and when he saw him, had compassion,

³⁴ and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and setting him on his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵ And the next day, he took out two denaries and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatever thou spendest more, I, when I come back, will repay thee.

³⁶ Which of these three, dost thou think, was neighbor to him that fell among the robbers?

³⁷ And he said, He that took pity on him. Then said Jesus to him, Go, and do thou likewise.

³⁸ And it came to pass, as they journeyed, that he entered into a certain village; and a certain woman, named Martha, received him into her house.

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sat down at the feet of the Lord, and listened to his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Tell her therefore to help me.

⁴¹ But the Lord answering said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things.

³ Now, go. Remember, I am sending you out as my messengers like lambs amongst wolves.

⁴ Do not take a purse with you, or a bag, or sandals; and do not stop to greet anyone on your journey.

⁵ Whatever house you go to stay at, begin by praying for a blessing on it.

⁶ Then, if anyone there is deserving of a blessing, your blessing will rest on him; but if not, it will come back on yourselves.

⁷ Remain at that same house, and eat and drink whatever they offer you; for the worker is worth their wages. Do not keep changing from one house to another.

⁸ Whatever town you visit, if the people welcome you, eat what is set before you;

⁹ cure the sick there, and tell people that the kingdom of God is close at hand.

¹⁰ But, whatever town you go to visit, if the people do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say

¹¹ ‘We wipe off the dust of your town which has clung to Our feet; still, be assured that the kingdom of God is close at Hand.’

¹² I tell you that the doom of Sodom will be more bearable on that day than the doom of that town.

¹³ Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For, if the Miracles which have been done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have sat in sackcloth and ashes and repented long ago.

¹⁴ Yet the doom of Tyre and Sidon will be more bearable at the judgement than yours.

¹⁵ And you, Capernaum! Will you exalt yourself to heaven? You will be flung down to Hades.

¹⁶ Anyone who listens to you is listening to me, and anyone who rejects you is rejecting me; while the person who rejects me is rejecting him who sent me as his messenger.”

¹⁷ When the seventy-two returned, they exclaimed joyfully, “Master, even the demons submit to us when we use your name.”

¹⁸ And Jesus replied, “I have had visions of Satan, fallen, like lightning from the heavens.

¹⁹ Remember, I have given you the power to trample on snakes and scorpions, and to meet all the strength of the Enemy. Nothing will ever harm you in any way.

²⁰ Yet do not rejoice in the fact that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names have been enrolled in heaven.”

²¹ At that same time, moved to exultation by the Holy Spirit, Jesus said: “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that, though you have hidden these things from the wise and learnt, you have revealed them to the childlike! Yes, Father, I thank you that this has seemed good to you.

²² Everything has been committed to me by my Father; nor does anyone know who the Son is, except the Father, or who the Father is, except the Son and those to whom the Son may choose to reveal him.”

²³ Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said to them alone, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you are seeing;

³⁶ Now which, do you think, of these three men,” asked Jesus, “proved himself a neighbour to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?”

³⁷ “The one that took pity on him,” was the answer; at which Jesus said, “Go and do the same yourself.”

⁴¹ “Martha, Martha,” replied the Master, “you are anxious and trouble yourself about many things;

⁶ If a seeker of shalom ·complete peace· is there, your shalom ·complete peace· will find its rest with him; and if there isn't, it will teshuvah ·completely return· to you.

⁷ Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house.

⁸ Into whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you.

⁹ Heal the sick who are therein, and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’

¹⁰ But into whatever city you enter, and they don’t receive you, go out into its streets and say,

¹¹ ‘Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’

¹² I tell you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom Burning than for that city.

¹³ “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have made teshuvah ·complete repentance· long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁴ But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.

¹⁵ You, Capernaum Village-Comfort, Village-Compassion, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades / Sh'ol ·Place of the dead·.

¹⁶ Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

¹⁷ The seventy teshuvah ·completely returned· with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”

¹⁸ He said to them, “I saw Satan Adversary having fallen like lightning from heaven.

¹⁹ Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.

²⁰ Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

²¹ In that same hour Yeshua Salvation rejoiced in Ruach haKodesh Spirit of the Holiness, and said, “I thank you, O Abba ·Father familiar, Dear Dad·, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Abba ·Father familiar, Dear Dad·, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.”

²² Turning to the disciples, he said, “All things have been delivered to me by 'Avi ·my Father·. No one knows who the Son is, except the Abba Father, and who the Abba Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him.”

²³ Turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see,

²⁴ for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.”

³⁰ Yeshua Salvation answered, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem City of peace to Jericho Fragrant, Moon, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

³¹ By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

³² In the same way a Levite Descendant of United with also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.

³³ But a certain Samaritan person from Watch-mountain, as he traveled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion,

³⁴ came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵ On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii (2 days wages), and gave them to the host, and said to him, ‘Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I teshuvah ·completely return·.’

³⁶ Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?”

³⁷ He said, “He who showed eleos ·merciful compassion in action· on him.” Then Yeshua Salvation said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

³⁸ As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha Lady mistress, Strong bitterness received him into her house.

³⁹ She had a sister called Mary Rebellion, who also sat at Yeshua Salvation's feet, and heard his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha Lady mistress, Strong bitterness was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”

⁴¹ Yeshua Salvation answered her, “Martha Lady mistress, Strong bitterness, Martha Lady mistress, Strong bitterness, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

¹³ Jesus talked to the people that lived in some towns. He said, “You mob that live in Korazin and Bethsaida, you will be really sorry. You see, I did a lot of powerful things there in your towns, but you didn’t listen to me, and you kept on doing bad things. Do you remember those towns called Tyre and Sidon? Many years ago their people did bad things. At that time I didn’t go and do powerful things for them, so they didn’t get the chance to listen to me, so they didn’t turn around and stop doing bad things. If they got that chance they would be very sorry for the bad things they did, and they would turn to God. But that didn’t happen.

¹⁴ You know, one day God will judge everybody, and he will punish those people for the bad things they did, but he will punish you mob a lot more than he will punish that mob. You mob had the chance to turn around, but you didn’t do it.

¹⁵ And it’s the same for you mob that live in Capernaum. You reckon you are good, so you reckon God will take you up into heaven. But you are wrong. He knows you are no good, and he will chuck you into hell.”

²⁵ One day a man came to Jesus and tried to get him to say something wrong, so he asked a hard question. He was a man that knew a lot about the Jewish laws. He asked Jesus, “What can I do so that I will live a good life for ever, and never die?”

²⁶ Jesus said, “You know God’s laws, and you read them all the time. What do you reckon they say?”

²⁷ The man answered, “One law says this, ‘You have to love God properly, not just a little bit. You have to love God from right inside yourself. You have to love God in the way you feel, and in the way you think. And you have to love God in the way you do things.’ And another law says this, ‘You have to love the other people around you just as much as you love yourself.’”

²⁸ Jesus said, “You are right. Do what those laws say and you will live real good.”

²⁹ But the man wanted to show that he did the right thing when he asked that question, so he said, “Who are the other people around me?”

³⁰ Jesus answered that question by telling this picture story. He said, “A man was going down the road from Jerusalem city to the town called Jericho. About half way along that road some bad men grabbed him. They beat him up, and they took everything he had, even his clothes, and then they ran away. They left him lying there, half dead.

³¹ After that, a man that looked after the Jewish ceremonies was walking down that road. He saw that man lying there, but he didn’t do anything to help him. He went over to the other side of the road to go past him, and he kept going down the road.

³² After that a man that helped in the Jewish ceremonies came along the road. He looked at the man lying there, then he went to the other side of the road to go past him, and he kept going down the road.

³³ Then a man from Samaria country came along the road. He was riding on a donkey. He saw the man lying there and he felt sorry for him.

³⁴ He went to that man and helped him. He treated the places where he was bleeding. He put wine and oil on them, and bandaged them, to help them get better. Then he lifted him up and put him on his donkey and took him to a hotel, and they both stayed there that night.

³⁵ The next day he paid a lot of money to the boss of the hotel, and said, ‘This is for you to keep this man here and look after him till he gets better. If it costs more than this, I’ll fix you up for the rest of the cost next time I come here.’”

³⁶ Then Jesus said to the law man, “There were 3 people that saw that man on the road, which one of them treated him like he was in his family?”

³⁷ The law man said, “I reckon it was the one that felt sorry for that man and helped him.” Jesus said, “You are right. So you have to always do that same kind of thing for other people.”

³⁸ Jesus and his followers kept going along the road to Jerusalem, and they came to a community, and a woman called Martha asked him to come and have a feed, so he went with her into her house.

³⁹ Her sister, called Mary, sat down near Jesus. He was teaching the people about God, and Mary just sat there listening to everything he said.

⁴⁰ Martha was busy getting the big dinner ready, and she was upset because Mary wasn’t helping her. So she said to Jesus, “Teacher, my sister isn’t helping me with the work. She has left me to do it by myself. You don’t think that is all right, do you? Tell her to get up and help me.”

⁴¹ Jesus said, “Martha, Martha, you think about a lot of things, and you worry about them a lot.

³ Goo youre wayes: beholde I sende you forthe as lambes amonge wolves.

⁴ Beare noo wallet nether scryppe nor shues and salute noo man by the waye.

⁵ Into whatsoever housse ye enter fyrst saye: Peace be to this housse.

⁶ And yf the sonne of peace be theare youre peace shall rest vpon him: yf not that shall returne to you agayne.

⁷ And in the same housse tary still eatinge and drinkinge soche as they have. For the laborer is worthy of his rewarde. Go not from housse to housse:

⁸ and in to whatso ever citye ye enter yf they receave you eate soche thinges as are set before you

⁹ and heale the sicke that are theare and saye vnto them: the kyngdome of God is come nye vpon you.

¹⁰ But into whatsoever citie ye shall enter yf they receave you not goo youre wayes out into the stretes of the same and saye:

¹¹ even the very dust which cleaveth on vs of your citie we wipe of agaynst you: Not withstondinge marke this that the kyngdome of God was come nie vpon you.

¹² Ye and I saye vnto you: that it shalbe easier in that daye for Sodom then for that cytie.

¹³ Wo be to the Chorazin: wo be to the Bethsaida. For yf the miracles had bene done in Tyre and Sidon which have bene done in you they had a greate whyle agone repeted sitting in heere and asshes.

¹⁴ Neverthelesse it shalbe easier for Tyre and Sidon at the iudgement then for you.

¹⁵ And thou Capernau which art exalted to heaven shalt be thrust doune to hell.

¹⁶ He that heareth you heareth me: and he that dispiseth you despiseth me: and he that dispiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

¹⁷ And the sevetie returned agayne with ioye sayinge: Lorde even the very devyls are subdued to vs thorowe thy name.

¹⁸ And he sayde vnto them: I sawe satan as it had bene lightenyng faule doune from heaven.

¹⁹ Beholde I geve vnto you power to treade on serpetes and scorpions and over all maner power of the enimye and no thinge shall hurte you.

²⁰ Neverthelesse in this reioyse not that the spretes are vnder youre power: but reioyse be cause youre names are wrytten in heaven.

²¹ That same tyme reioysed Iesus in the sprete and sayde: I confesse vnto the father Lorde of heaven and erth that thou hast hyd these thynges from the wyse and prudent and hast opened them to the babes. Even so father for soo pleased it the.

²² All thinges are geven me of my father. And no man knoweth who the sonne is but the father: nether who the father is save the sonne and he to who the sonne wyll shewe him.

²³ And he turned to his disciples and sayde secretly: Happy are the eyes which se that ye se.

²⁹ He willinge to iustifie him silfe sayde vnto Iesus: Who is then my neghbour?

³⁰ Iesus answered and sayde: A certayne man descended from Hierusalem into Hierico and fell in to the hondes of theves which robbed him of his raymet and wounded him and departed levynge him halfe deed.

³¹ And by chaunce ther came a certayne preste that same waye and when he sawe him he passed by.

³² And lykewyse a Levite when he was come nye to the place wet and loked on him and passed by.

³³ Then a certayne Samaritane as he iornyed came nye vnto him and when he sawe him had compassion on him

³⁴ and went to and bounde vp his woundes and poured in oyle and wyne and put him on his awne beaste and brought him to a comen ynne and made provision for him.

³⁵ And on the morowe when he departed he toke out two pece and gave them to the host and sayde vnto him. Take cure of him and whatsoever thou spedest moare when I come agayne I will recompence the.

³⁶ Which now of these thre thynkest thou was neighbour vnto him that fell into the theves hondes?

³⁹ And this woman had a sister called Mary which sate at Iesus fete and hearde his preachinge.

⁴⁰ And Martha was combred about moche servinge and stode and sayde: Master doest thou not care that my sister hath leeft me to minister alone? Byd her therfore that she helpe me.

⁴¹ And Iesus answered and sayde vnto her: Martha Martha thou carest and arte troubled about many thinges:

³ Go on your way. See, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

⁴ Do not carry a money bag, or a traveler's bag, or sandals, and greet no one on the road.

⁵ Whatever house you enter, first say, 'May peace be on this house!'

⁶ If a person of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him, but if not, it will return to you.

⁷ Remain in that same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

⁸ Whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you,

⁹ and heal the sick that are there. Say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come close to you.'

¹⁰ Whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,

¹¹ 'Even the dust from your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! But know this: The kingdom of God has come near.'

¹² I say to you that on the judgment day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town.

³⁷ He said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Yeshua said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

³⁸ As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

³⁹ She had a sister called Miriam, who also sat at Yeshua’s feet and heard his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”

⁴¹ Yeshua answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

³ Go ye, lo! I send you as lambs among wolves.

⁴ Therefore do not ye bear a satchel, neither scrip, neither shoes, and greet ye no man by the way.

⁵ Into whatever house that ye enter, first say ye, Peace to this house.

⁶ And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest on him; but if none, it shall turn again to you.

⁷ And dwell ye in the same house, eating and drinking those things that be at them; for a workman is worthy his hire. Do not ye pass from house into house.

⁸ And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat ye those things that be set or be put to you;

⁹ and heal ye the sick men that be in that city. And say ye to them, The kingdom of God shall come nigh to you.

¹⁰ And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go ye out into the streets of it, and say ye,

¹¹ We wipe off against you the powder that cleaved to us of your city; nevertheless know ye this thing, that the realm of God shall come nigh.

¹² I say to you, that to Sodom it shall be easier or less pain than to that city in that day.

¹³ Woe to thee, Chorazin; woe to thee, Bethsaida; for if in Tyre and Sidon the virtues had been done, which have been done in you, some-time they would have sat in haircloth and ashes, and have done penance.

¹⁴ Nevertheless to Tyre and Sidon it shall be easier in the doom, than to you.

¹⁵ And thou, Capernaum, art enhanced till to heaven; thou shalt be drenched or drowned down till into hell.

¹⁶ He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despis-eth him that sent me.

¹⁷ And the two and seventy disciples turned again with joy, and said, Lord, also devils be subject to us in thy name.

¹⁸ And he said to them, I saw Satan falling down from heaven, as lightning.

¹⁹ And lo! I have given to you power to tread on serpents, and scorpions, and on all the virtue of the enemy, and nothing shall annoy you.

²⁰ Nevertheless do not ye have joy in this thing, that spirits be subject to you; but joy ye, that your names be written in heavens.

²¹ In that hour he gladded in the Holy Ghost, and said, I acknowledge to thee, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for thou hast hid these things from wise men and prudent, and hast showed them to small or little children. Yea, Father, for so it pleased before thee or so it pleased to thee.

²² All things be given to me of my Father, and no man knoweth who is the Son, but the Father; and who is the Father, but the Son, and to whom the Son will show.

²³ And he turned to his disciples, and said, Blessed be the eyes, that see those things that ye see.

²⁴ For I say to you, that many prophets and kings would have seen those things, that ye see, and they saw not; and hear those things, that ye hear, and they heard not.

²⁵ And lo! a wise man of the law rose up, tempting him, and saying, Master, what thing shall I do to have everlasting life?

²⁶ And he said to him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

²⁷ He answered, and said, Thou shalt love thy Lord God or the Lord thy God of all thine heart, and of all thy soul, and of all thy strengths, and of all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

²⁸ And Jesus said to him, Thou hast answered rightly; do this thing, and thou shalt live.

²⁹ But he willing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neigh-bour?

³⁰ And Jesus beheld, and said, A man or Some man came down from Jerusalem into Jericho, and fell among thieves, and they robbed him, and wounded him, and went away, and left the man half alive.

³¹ And it befell, that a priest came down the same way, and passed forth, when he had seen him.

³² Also a deacon, when he was beside the place, and saw him, passed forth.

³³ But a Samaritan, going the way, came beside him; and he saw him, and had ruth on him; Forsooth some Samaritan, making journey, came beside the way; and he seeing him, was stirred by mercy;

³⁴ and came to him, and bound together his wounds, and poured in oil and wine; and laid him on his beast, and led him in to an hostelry, and did the care of him.

³⁵ And another day, he brought forth two pence, and gave to the hosteller, and said, Have the care of him; and whatever thou shalt give over, I shall yield to thee, when I come again.

³⁶ Who of these three, seemeth to thee, was neighbour to him, that fell among the thieves?

³⁷ And he said, He that did mercy into him. And Jesus said to him, Go thou, and do thou in like manner.

³⁸ And it was done, while they went, he entered into a castle; and a woman, Martha by name, received him into her house.

³⁹ And to this was a sister, Mary by name, which also sat beside the feet of the Lord, and heard his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha busied about the oft or much service. And she stood, and said, Lord, takest thou no keep, that my sister hath left me alone to serve? therefore say thou to her, that she help me.

⁴¹ And the Lord answered, and said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art busy, and art troubled about full many things;

³ Go ye, lo! I send you as lambs among wolves.

⁴ Therefore do not ye bear a satchel, neither scrip, neither shoes, and greet ye no man by the way (or and greet no one on the way).

(And live in the same house, eating and drinking those things that be there with them; for a workman is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.)

⁸ And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat ye those things that be set or that be put to you (or eat those things that be put before you);

⁹ and heal ye the sick men (or the sick people) that be in that city. And say ye to them, The kingdom of God shall come nigh to you, (or The Kingdom of God hath come near to you).

¹⁰ And into whatever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go ye out into the streets of it, and say ye,

¹¹ We wipe off against you the powder that cleaved to us of your city; nevertheless know ye this thing, that the realm of God shall come nigh. (We wipe off against you the dust that cleaved to us from your city; nevertheless know ye this thing, that the Kingdom of God hath come near to you.)

¹² I say to you, that to Sodom it shall be easier or it shall be less pain(ful) than to that city in that day.

¹³ Woe to thee, Chorazin; woe to thee, Bethsaida; for if in Tyre and Sidon the virtues had been done, which have been done in you, sometime they would have sat in haircloth and ashes, and have done penance. (Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if in Tyre and Sidon the works of power, or the miracles, had been done, which have been done in you, long ago they would have sat in sackcloth and ashes, and have repented.)

¹⁴ Nevertheless to Tyre and Sidon it shall be easier in the doom, than to you. (Nevertheless for Tyre and Sidon, it shall be easier at the Judgement, than for you.)

¹⁵ And thou, Capernaum, art enhanced till to heaven; thou shalt be drenched down till into hell. (And thou, Capernaum, art exalted unto heaven? or art raised up into the sky? thou shalt be drowned down till into hell!)

Yes, Father, for so it pleased thee.)

²⁸ And Jesus said to him, Thou hast answered rightly (or Thou hast answered correctly); do this thing, and thou shalt live.

⁴ Therfor nyle ye bere a sachel, nethir scrippe, nethir schoon, and greete ye no man bi the weie.

⁵ In to what hous that ye entren, first seie ye, Pees to this hous.

⁶ And if a sone of pees be there, youre pees schal reste on hym; but if noon, it schal turne ayen to you.

⁷ And dwelle ye in the same hous, etynge and drynkynge tho thingis that ben at hem; for a werk man is worthi his hire. Nyle ye passe from hous in to hous.

⁸ And in to what euer citee ye entren, and thei resseyuen you, ete ye tho thingis that ben set to you;

⁹ and heele ye the sijke men that ben in that citee. And seie ye to hem, The kyngdom of God schal neiye in to you.

¹⁰ In to what citee ye entren, and thei resseyuen you not, go ye out in to the streetis of it,

¹¹ and seie ye, We wipen of ayens you the poudir that cleued to vs of youre citee; netheles wite ye this thing, that the rewme of God schal come nyy.

¹² Y seie to you, that to Sodom it schal be esiere than to that citee in that dai.

¹³ Wo to thee, Corosayn; wo to thee, Bethsaida; for if in Tyre and Sidon the vertues hadden be don, whiche han be don in you, sum tyme thei wolden haue sete in heyre and asches, and haue don penaunce.

²² Alle thingis ben youun to me of my fadir, and no man woot, who is the sone, but the fadir; and who is the fadir, but the sone, and to whom the sone wole schewe.

²³ And he turnede to hise disciplis, and seide, Blessid ben the iyen, that seen tho thingis that ye seen.

²⁴ For Y seie to you, that many prophetis and kyngis wolden haue seie tho thingis, that ye seen, and thei sayn not; and here tho thingis, that ye heren, and thei herden not.

²⁵ And lo! a wise man of the lawe ros vp, temptynge hym, and seiynge, Maister, what thing schal Y do to haue euerlastynge lijf?

²⁶ And he seide to hym, What is writun in the lawe? hou redist thou?

²⁷ He answeride, and seide, Thou schalt loue thi Lord God of al thin herte, and of al thi soule, and of alle thi strengthis, and of al thi mynde; and thi neiybore as thi silf.

²⁸ And Jhesus seide to hym, Thou hast answerid riytli; do this thing, and thou schalt lyue.

²⁹ But he willynge to iustifie hym silf, seide to Jhesu, And who is my neiybore?

³⁰ And Jhesu biheld, and seide, A man cam doun fro Jerusalem in to Jerico, and fel among theues, and thei robbiden hym, and woundiden hym, and wente awei, and leften the man half alyue.

³¹ And it bifel, that a prest cam doun the same weie, and passide forth, whanne he hadde seyn hym.

³² Also a dekene, whanne he was bisidis the place, and saiy him, passide forth.

³³ But a Samaritan, goynge the weie, cam bisidis hym; and he siy hym, and hadde reuthe on hym;

³⁴ and cam to hym, and boond togidir hise woundis, and helde in oyle and wynne; and leide hym on his beest, and ledde in to an ostrie, and dide the cure of hym.

³⁵ And another dai he brouyte forth twey pans, and yaf to the ostiler, and seide, Haue the cure of hym; and what euer thou schalt yyue ouer, Y schal yelde to thee, whanne Y come ayen.

³⁶ Who of these thre, semeth to thee, was neiybore to hym, that fel among theues?

³⁷ And he seide, He that dide merci in to hym. And Jhesus seide to hym, Go thou, and do thou on lijk maner.

³⁸ And it was don, while thei wenten, he entride in to a castel; and a womman, Martha bi name, resseyuede hym in to hir hous.

³⁹ And to this was a sistir, Marie bi name, which also sat bisidis the feet of the Lord, and herde his word.

⁴⁰ But Martha bisiede aboute the ofte seruyce. And sche stood, and seide, Lord, takist thou no kepe, that my sistir hath left me aloone to serue? therfor seie thou to hir, that sche helpe me.

⁴¹ And the Lord answerde, and seide to hir, Martha, Martha, thou art bysi, and art troublid aboute ful many thingis;

³ 'Go away; lo, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves;

⁴ carry no bag, no scrip, nor sandals; and salute no one on the way;

⁵ and into whatever house ye do enter, first say, Peace to this house;

⁶ and if indeed there may be there the son of peace, rest on it shall your peace; and if not so, upon you it shall turn back.

⁷ 'And in that house remain, eating and drinking the things they have, for worthy is the workman of his hire; go not from house to house,

⁸ and into whatever city ye enter, and they may receive you, eat the things set before you,

⁹ and heal the ailing in it, and say to them, The reign of God hath come nigh to you.

¹⁰ 'And into whatever city ye do enter, and they may not receive you, having gone forth to its broad places, say,

¹¹ And the dust that hath cleaved to us, from your city, we do wipe off against you, but this know ye, that the reign of God hath come nigh to you;

¹² and I say to you, that for Sodom in that day it shall be more tolerable than for that city.

¹³ 'Woe to thee, Chorazin; woe to thee, Bethsaida; for if in Tyre and Sidon had been done the mighty works that were done in you, long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes, they had reformed;

¹⁴ but for Tyre and Sidon it shall be more tolerable in the judgment than for you.

¹⁵ 'And thou, Capernaum, which unto the heaven wast exalted, unto hades thou shalt be brought down.

¹⁶ 'He who is hearing you, doth hear me; and he who is putting you away, doth put me away; and he who is putting me away, doth put away Him who sent me.'

¹⁷ And the seventy turned back with joy, saying, 'Sir, and the demons are being subjected to us in thy name;'

¹⁸ and he said to them, 'I was beholding the Adversary, as lightning from the heaven having fallen;

¹⁹ lo, I give to you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and on all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any means shall hurt you;

²⁰ but, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subjected to you, but rejoice rather that your names were written in the heavens.'

²¹ In that hour was Jesus glad in the Spirit, and said, 'I do confess to thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that Thou didst hide these things from wise men and understanding, and didst reveal them to babes; yes, Father, because so it became good pleasure before Thee.

²² 'All things were delivered up to me by my Father, and no one doth know who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whom the Son may wish to reveal Him.'

²³ And having turned unto the disciples, he said, by themselves, 'Happy the eyes that are perceiving what ye perceive;

²⁴ for I say to you, that many prophets and kings did wish to see what ye perceive, and did not see, and to hear what ye hear, and did not hear.'

²⁵ And lo, a certain lawyer stood up, trying him, and saying, 'Teacher, what having done, life age-during shall I inherit?'

²⁶ And he said unto him, 'In the law what hath been written? how dost thou read?'

²⁷ And he answering said, 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God out of all thy heart, and out of all thy soul, and out of all thy strength, and out of all thy understanding, and thy neighbour as thyself.'

²⁸ And he said to him, 'Rightly thou didst answer; this do, and thou shalt live.'

²⁹ And he, willing to declare himself righteous, said unto Jesus, 'And who is my neighbour?'

³⁰ and Jesus having taken up the word, said, 'A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and having stripped him and inflicted blows, they went away, leaving him half dead.

³¹ 'And by a coincidence a certain priest was going down in that way, and having seen him, he passed over on the opposite side;

³² and in like manner also, a Levite, having been about the place, having come and seen, passed over on the opposite side.

³³ 'But a certain Samaritan, journeying, came along him, and having seen him, he was moved with compassion,

³⁴ and having come near, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and having lifted him up on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and was careful of him;

³⁵ and on the morrow, going forth, taking out two denaries, he gave to the innkeeper, and said to him, Be careful of him, and whatever thou mayest spend more, I, in my coming again, will give back to thee.

³⁶ 'Who, then, of these three, seemeth to thee to have become neighbour of him who fell among the robbers?'

³⁷ and he said, 'He who did the kindness with him,' then Jesus said to him, 'Be going on, and thou be doing in like manner.'

³⁸ And it came to pass, in their going on, that he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman, by name Martha, did receive him into her house,

³⁹ and she had also a sister, called Mary, who also, having seated herself beside the feet of Jesus, was hearing the word,

⁴⁰ and Martha was distracted about much serving, and having stood by him, she said, 'Sir, dost thou not care that my sister left me alone to serve? say then to her, that she may partake along with me.'

⁴¹ And Jesus answering said to her, 'Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and disquieted about many things,
