³ Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruits thereof;

⁴ but in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath unto Jehovah: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

⁵ That which groweth of itself of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, and the grapes of thy undressed vine thou shalt not gather: it shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.

⁶ And the sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for thee, and for thy servant and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant and for thy stranger, who sojourn with thee.

⁷ And for thy cattle, and for the beasts that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be for food.

⁸ And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and there shall be unto thee the days of seven sabbaths of years, even forty and nine years.

⁹ Then shalt thou send abroad the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month; in the day of atonement shall ye send abroad the trumpet throughout all your land.

¹⁰ And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

¹¹ A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of the undressed vines.

¹² For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.

¹³ In this year of jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession.

¹⁴ And if thou sell aught unto thy neighbor, or buy of thy neighbor’s hand, ye shall not wrong one another.

¹⁵ According to the number of years after the jubilee thou shalt buy of thy neighbor, and according unto the number of years of the crops he shall sell unto thee.

¹⁶ According to the multitude of the years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of the years thou shalt diminish the price of it; for the number of the crops doth he sell unto thee.

¹⁸ Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep mine ordinances and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.

¹⁹ And the land shall yield its fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.

²⁰ And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase;

²¹ then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for the three years.

²² And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the fruits, the old store; until the ninth year, until its fruits come in, ye shall eat the old store.

²³ And the land shall not be sold in perpetuity; for the land is mine: for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

²⁴ And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.

²⁵ If thy brother be waxed poor, and sell some of his possession, then shall his kinsman that is next unto him come, and shall redeem that which his brother hath sold.

²⁶ And if a man have no one to redeem it, and he be waxed rich and find sufficient to redeem it;

²⁷ then let him reckon the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return unto his possession.

²⁸ But if he be not able to get it back for himself, then that which he hath sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee: and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.

²⁹ And if a man sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; for a full year shall he have the right of redemption.

³⁰ And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubilee.

³¹ But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be reckoned with the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.

¹⁰ And ye shall sanctify the year, the fiftieth year, and ye shall proclaim a release upon the land to all that inhabit it; it shall be given a year of release, a jubilee for you; and each one shall depart to his possession, and ye shall go each to his family.

¹¹ This is a jubilee of release, the year shall be to you the fiftieth year: ye shall not sow, nor reap the produce that comes of itself from the land, neither shall ye gather its dedicated fruits.

¹² For it is a jubilee of release; it shall be holy to you, ye shall eat its fruits off the fields.

¹³ In the year of the release even the jubilee of it, shall each one return to his possession.

¹⁸ And ye shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgments; and do ye observe them, and ye shall keep them, and dwell securely in the land.

¹⁹ And the land shall yield her increase, and ye shall eat to fulness, and shall dwell securely in it.

²⁰ And if ye should say, What shall we eat in this seventh year, if we do not sow nor gather in our fruits?

²¹ Then will I send my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and the land shall produce its fruits for three years.

²² And ye shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old fruits till the ninth year: until its fruit come, ye shall eat old fruits of the old.

²³ And the land shall not be sold for a permanence; for the land is mine, because ye are strangers and sojourners before me.

²⁴ And in every land of your possession, ye shall allow ransoms for the land.

²⁵ And if thy brother who is with thee be poor, and should have sold part of his possession, and his kinsman who is nigh to him come, then he shall redeem the possession which his brother has sold.

²⁶ And if one have no near kinsman, and he prosper with his hand, and he find sufficient money, even his ransom;

²⁷ then shall he calculate the years of his sale, and he shall give what is due to the man to whom he sold it, and he shall return to his possession.

²⁸ But if his hand have not prospered sufficiently, so as that he should restore the money to him, then he that bought the possessions shall have them till the sixth year of the release; and it shall go out in the release, and the owner shall return to his possession.

²⁹ And if any one should sell an inhabited house in a walled city, then there shall be the ransom of it, until the time is fulfilled: its time of ransom shall be a full year.

³⁰ And if it be not ransomed until there be completed of its time a full year, the house which is in the walled city shall be surely confirmed to him that bought it, throughout his generations; and it shall not go out in the release.

³¹ But the houses in the villages which have not a wall round about them, shall be reckoned as the fields of the country: they shall always be redeemable, and they shall go out in the release.

³ For six years you are to plant seeds in your fields and prune your grapevines and harvest the crops.

⁴ But the seventh/next year you must dedicate to me, and allow your fields to rest. Do not plant seeds in your fields or prune your grapevines during that year.

⁵ Do not reap the grain that grows in your fields without having been planted, or harvest the grapes that grow without the vines being pruned; you must allow the land to rest for that one year.

⁶ But you are permitted to eat whatever crops grow by themselves during that year without having been planted. You and your male and female servants, and workers whom you have hired, and people who are living among you temporarily are permitted to eat it.

⁷ Also, during that year your livestock and the wild animals in your land are permitted to eat it.”

⁸ “Also, after every 49 years has ended, you must do this: ◄On the tenth day of the seventh month/At the end of September► of the next/50th year, blow trumpets throughout the country, to declare that it will be a day on which you request that I forgive you for the sins that you have committed.

¹⁰ Set apart that year, and proclaim that throughout the country, it will be a year of restoring the land and freeing people: All the people who sold their property will receive back the property that they previously owned, and slaves must be ◄freed/allowed to return to their property and their families►.

¹¹ That year will be a Year of Celebration; during that year do not plant anything, and do not harvest in the usual way the grain/wheat that grows without having been planted, or the grapes that grow without the vines being pruned.

¹² It will be a Year of Celebration, so eat only what grows in the fields ◄by itself/without any work being done to produce anything►.

¹³ In that Year of Celebration, everyone must return to their own property.

¹⁴ If you sell some of your land to a fellow Israeli or if you buy some land from one of them, you must treat that person fairly:

¹⁵ If you buy land, the price that you will pay will depend on the number of years there will be until the next Year of Celebration. If someone sells land to you, he will charge a price that is determined by the number of years until the next Year of Celebration.

¹⁶ If there will be many years before the next Year of Celebration, the price will be higher; if there will be only a few years until the next Year of Celebration, the price will be lower. You could say that what he is really selling you is the number of crops which you can harvest before the next Year of Celebration.

¹⁷ Do not cheat each other; instead, revere me. I, Yahweh your God, am the one who am commanding this.

¹⁸ Obey all my laws DOU carefully. If you do that, you will continue to live safely in your country DOU.

¹⁹ And crops will grow well on the land, and you will have plenty to eat.

²⁰ But you may ask, ‘If we do not plant or harvest our crops during the seventh year, what will we have to eat?’

²¹ My answer is that I will bless you very much during the sixth/previous year, with the result that during that year there will be enough crops to provide food for you for three years!

²² Then, after you plant seed during the eighth/next year and wait for the crops to grow, you will eat the food grown in the sixth year, and continue to eat it until more food is harvested in the ninth year!

²³ You must not sell any of your land to belong to someone else permanently, because the land is not yours; it is really mine, and you are only living on it temporarily and ◄farming/taking care of► it for me.

²⁴ Throughout the land that you will possess, you must remember that if someone sells some of his land to you, he is permitted to buy it back from you if he wants to.

²⁵ So, if one of your fellow Israelis becomes poor and sells some of his property to obtain some money, the person who is most closely related to him is permitted to come and buy that land for him.

²⁶ However, if a man has no one to buy the land for him, and he himself prospers again and saves enough money to buy that land back,

²⁷ he must calculate how many years there will be until the next Year of Celebration. Then he must pay to the man who bought the land the money that he would have earned by continuing to grow crops on that land for those years.

²⁸ But if the original owner does not have any money to buy the land that he sold, it will continue to belong to the man who bought it, until the next Year of Celebration. In that year it must be returned to its original owner, and he will be able to live on it again.

²⁹ If someone who lives in a city that has a wall around it sells a house there, during the next year he will be permitted to buy it from the man who bought it.

³⁰ If he does not buy it during that year, it will belong permanently to the man who bought it and to his descendants. It must not be returned to the original owner in the Year of Celebration.

³¹ But houses that are in villages that do not have walls around them are considered to be as though they are in a field. So if someone sells one of those houses, he is permitted to buy it back at any time. And if he does not buy it, it must be returned to him in the Year of Celebration.

³ Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vine, and gather in its fruit.

⁴ But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath, it shall be a rest to the land, a sabbath to the Lord: you shall not sow your field, and you shall not prune your vine.

⁵ And you shall not gather the spontaneous produce of your field, and you shall not gather fully the grapes of your dedication: it shall be a year of rest to the land.

⁶ And the sabbaths of the land shall be food for you, and for your man-servant, and for your maidservant, and your hireling, and the stranger that abides with you.

¹⁰ And let this fiftieth year be kept holy, and say publicly that everyone in the land is free from debt: it is the Jubilee, and every man may go back to his heritage and to his family.

¹¹ Let this fiftieth year be the Jubilee: no seed may be planted, and that which comes to growth of itself may not be cut, and the grapes may not be taken from the uncared-for vines.

¹² For it is the Jubilee, and it is holy to you; your food will be the natural increase of the field.

¹³ In this year of Jubilee, let every man go back to his heritage.

¹⁴ And in the business of trading goods for money, do no wrong to one another.

¹⁵ Let your exchange of goods with your neighbours have relation to the number of years after the year of Jubilee, and the number of times the earth has given her produce.

¹⁶ If the number of years is great, the price will be increased, and if the number of years is small, the price will be less, for it is the produce of a certain number of years which the man is giving you.

¹⁷ And do no wrong, one to another, but let the fear of your God be before you; for I am the Lord your God.

¹⁸ So keep my rules and my decisions and do them, and you will be safe in your land.

¹⁹ And the land will give her fruit, and you will have food in full measure and be safe in the land.

²⁰ And if you say, Where will our food come from in the seventh year, when we may not put in seed, or get in the increase

²¹ Then I will send my blessing on you in the sixth year, and the land will give fruit enough for three years.

²² And in the eighth year you will put in your seed, and get your food from the old stores, till the fruit of the ninth year is ready.

²³ No exchange of land may be for ever, for the land is mine, and you are as my guests, living with me for a time.

²⁴ Wherever there is property in land, the owner is to have the right of getting it back.

²⁵ If your brother becomes poor, and has to give up some of his land for money, his nearest relation may come and get back that which his brother has given up.

²⁶ And if he has no one to get it back for him, and later he himself gets wealth and has enough money to get it back;

²⁷ Then let him take into account the years from the time when he gave it up, and make up the loss for the rest of the years to him who took it, and so get back his property.

²⁸ But if he is not able to get it back for himself, then it will be kept by him who gave a price for it, till the year of Jubilee; and in that year it will go back to its first owner and he will have his property again.

²⁹ And if a man gives his house in a walled town for money, he has the right to get it back for the space of a full year after he has given it up.

³⁰ And if he does not get it back by the end of the year, then the house in the town will become the property of him who gave the money for it, and of his children for ever; it will not go from him in the year of Jubilee.

³¹ But houses in small unwalled towns will be the same as property in the country; they may be got back, and they will go back to their owners in the year of Jubilee.

¹⁷ Do not afflict your countrymen, but let every one fear his God: because I am the Lord your God.

¹⁸ Do my precepts, and keep my judgments, and fulfill them: that you may dwell in the land without any fear,

¹⁹ And the ground may yield you its fruits, of which you may eat your fill, fearing no mall’s invasion.

²⁰ But if you say: What shall we eat the seventh year, if we sow not, nor gather our fruits?

²¹ I will give you my blessing the sixth year, and it shall yield the fruits of three years:

²² And the eighth year you shall sow, and shall eat of the old fruits, until the ninth year: till new grow up, you shall eat the old store.

²³ The land also shall not be sold for ever: because it is mine, and you are strangers and sojourners with me.

²⁴ For which cause all the country of your possession shall be under the condition of redemption.

²⁵ If thy brother being impoverished sell his little possession, and his kinsman will, he may redeem what he had sold.

²⁶ But if he have no kinsman, and he himself can find the price to redeem it:

²⁷ The value of the fruits shall be counted from that time when he sold it: and the overplus he shall restore to the buyer, and so shall receive his possession again.

²⁸ But if his hands find not the means to repay the price, the buyer shall have what he bought, until the year of the jubilee. For in that year all that is sold shall return to the owner, and to the ancient possessor.

²⁹ He that selleth a house within the walls of a city, shall have the liberty to redeem it, until one year be expired:

³⁰ If he redeem it not, and the whole year be fully out, the buyer shall possess it, and his posterity for ever, and it cannot be redeemed, not even in the jubilee.

³¹ But if the house be in a village, that hath no walls, it shall be sold according to the same law as the fields: if it be not redeemed before, in the jubilee it shall return to the owner.

³ Six years you can cultivate your fields, take care of your vineyards, and harvest your crops.

⁴ But the seventh year is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for the land, a Sabbath in honor of the Lord. Don't plant your fields or care for your vineyards.

⁵ Don't harvest what may have grown up in your fields, or collect the grapes from your vineyards that you haven't cared for. The land is to have a year of complete rest.

⁶ You can eat whatever the land produces during the Sabbath year. This applies to yourself, your male and female slaves, paid workers and foreigners who live with you,

⁷ and to your livestock and the wild animals living in your land. Whatever grows can be used for food.

⁸ Count seven ‘sabbaths’ of years, in other words, seven times seven years, so that the seven sabbaths of years come to forty-nine years.

⁹ Then blow the trumpet all through the country on the tenth day of the seventh month, which is the Day of Atonement. Make sure this signal is heard throughout your whole country.

¹⁰ You are to dedicate the fiftieth year and announce freedom everywhere in the country for all who live there. This is to be your Jubilee, when each of you is to return to reclaim your property and to be part of your family once more.

¹¹ The fiftieth year will be a Jubilee for you. Don't sow the land; don't harvest what may have grown up in your fields, or collect the grapes from your vineyards that you haven't cared for.

¹² It is a Jubilee and it is to be holy to you. You can eat whatever the land produces.

¹³ In this Jubilee Year, every one of you shall return to your own property.

¹⁴ If you sell land to your neighbor, or buy land from him, don't exploit one another.

¹⁵ When you buy from your neighbor work out how many years have passed since the last Jubilee, for he is to sell to you depending on how many years of harvest remain.

¹⁶ The more years that are left, the more you shall pay; the fewer years that are left, the less you shall pay, because he is actually selling you a specific number of harvests.

¹⁷ Don't exploit one another, but have respect for your God, because I am the Lord your God.

¹⁸ Keep my rules and observe my regulations, so you can live in safety in the land.

¹⁹ Then the land will produce good harvest, so you will have plenty to eat and live in safety there.

²⁰ But if you ask, ‘What are we going to in the seventh year if we do not sow or harvest our crops?’

²¹ I will bless you in the sixth year, so that the land will produce a crop that will be enough for three years.

²² As you sow in the eighth year, you will still be eating from that harvest, which will last until your harvest in the ninth year.

²³ Land must not be permanently sold, because it really belongs to me. To me you are only foreigners and travelers passing through.

²⁴ So whatever land you buy to own, you must make arrangements so it can be returned to its original owner.

²⁵ If one of your people becomes poor and sells you some of their land, their close family can come and buy back what they have sold.

²⁶ However, if they don't have anyone who can buy it back, but in the meantime their financial situation improves and they have enough to buy back the land,

²⁷ they will work how many years it has been since the sale, and pay back the balance to the person who bought it, and go back to their property

²⁸ If they can't raise enough to pay the person back for the land, the buyer will remain its owner until the Jubilee Year. But in the Jubilee the land will be returned so that the original owner can so that they can go back to their property.

²⁹ If someone sells a house located in a walled town, they have the right to buy it back for a full year after selling it. It can be bought back any time during that year.

³⁰ If it isn't bought back be the end of a full year, then ownership of the house in the walled town is permanently transferred to the one who bought it and their descendants. It won't be returned in the Jubilee.

³¹ But houses in villages that don't have walls around them are to be treated as located in the fields. They can be bought back, and will be returned in the Jubilee.

³ Sixe yeeres thou shalt sowe thy field, and sixe yeeres thou shalt cut thy vineyarde, and gather the fruite thereof.

⁴ But the seuenth yeere shalbe a Sabbath of rest vnto the lande: it shall be the Lordes Sabbath: thou shalt neither sowe thy fielde, nor cut thy vineyarde.

⁵ That which groweth of it owne accorde of thy haruest, thou shalt not reape, neither gather the grapes that thou hast left vnlaboured: for it shalbe a yeere of rest vnto the land.

⁶ And the rest of the lande shall be meate for you, euen for thee, and for thy seruant, and for thy mayde, and for thy hired seruant, and for the stranger that soiourneth with thee:

⁷ And for thy cattell, and for the beastes that are in thy lande shall all the encrease thereof be meate.

⁸ Also thou shalt number seuen Sabbaths of yeeres vnto thee, euen seuen times seuen yeere: and the space of the seuen Sabbaths of yeeres will be vnto thee nine and fourtie yeere.

⁹ Then thou shalt cause to blow the trumpet of the Iubile in the tenth day of the seuenth moneth: euen in the day of the reconciliation shall ye make the trumpet blowe, throughout all your lande.

¹⁰ And ye shall halowe that yeere, euen the fiftieth yeere, and proclaime libertie in the lande to all the inhabitants thereof: it shalbe the Iubile vnto you, and ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession, and euery man shall returne vnto his familie.

¹¹ This fiftieth yeere shalbe a yeere of Iubile vnto you: ye shall not sowe, neither reape that which groweth of it selfe, neither gather the grapes thereof, that are left vnlaboured.

¹² For it is the Iubile, it shall be holy vnto you: ye shall eate of the encrease thereof out of the fielde.

¹³ In the yeere of this Iubile, ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession.

¹⁴ And when thou sellest ought to thy neighbour, or byest at thy neighbours hande, ye shall not oppresse one another:

¹⁵ But according to the nomber of yeeres after the Iubile thou shalt bye of thy neighbour: also according to the nomber of the yeeres of the reuenues, he shall sell vnto thee.

¹⁶ According to the multitude of yeeres, thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewnesse of yeeres, thou shalt abate the price of it: for the nomber of fruites doeth he sell vnto thee.

¹⁷ Oppresse not ye therefore any man his neighbour, but thou shalt feare thy God: for I am the Lord your God.

¹⁸ Wherefore ye shall obey mine ordinances, and keepe my lawes, and do them, and ye shall dwell in the land in safetie.

¹⁹ And the lande shall giue her fruite, and ye shall eate your fill, and dwell therein in safetie.

²⁰ And if ye shall say, What shall we eate the seuenth yeere, for we shall not sowe, nor gather in our increase?

²¹ I will sende my blessing vpon you in the sixt yeere, and it shall bring foorth fruite for three yeeres.

²² And ye shall sowe the eight yeere, and eate of the olde fruite vntill the ninth yeere: vntill the fruite thereof come, ye shall eate the olde.

²³ Also the lande shall not be solde to be cut off from the familie: for the land is mine, and ye be but strangers and soiourners with me.

²⁴ Therefore in all the land of your possession ye shall graunt a redemption for the lande.

²⁵ If thy brother be impouerished, and sell his possession, then his redeemer shall come, euen his neere kinsman, and bye out that which his brother solde.

²⁸ But if he can not get sufficient to restore to him, then that which is solde, shall remaine in the hande of him that hath bought it, vntill the yere of the Iubile: and in the Iubile it shall come out, and he shall returne vnto his possession.

²⁹ Likewise if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled citie, he may bye it out againe within a whole yeere after it is solde: within a yeere may he bye it out.

³⁰ But if it be not bought out within ye space of a ful yeere, then the house that is in the walled citie, shalbe stablished, as cut off from the familie, to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not goe out in the Iubile.

³¹ But the houses of villages, which haue no walles round about them, shalbe esteemed as the fielde of the countrey: they may be bought out againe, and shall goe out in the Iubile.

³ Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the produce thereof.

⁴ But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath unto the LORD; thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

⁵ That which groweth of itself of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, and the grapes of thy undressed vine thou shalt not gather; it shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.

⁶ And the sabbath-produce of the land shall be for food for you: for thee, and for thy servant and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant and for the settler by thy side that sojourn with thee;

⁷ and for thy cattle, and for the beasts that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be for food.

⁸ And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and there shall be unto thee the days of seven sabbaths of years, even forty and nine years.

⁹ Then shalt thou make proclamation with the blast of the horn on the tenth day of the seventh month; in the day of atonement shall ye make proclamation with the horn throughout all your land.

¹⁰ And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof; it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

¹¹ A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you; ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of the undressed vines.

²⁶ And if a man have no one to redeem it, and he be waxen rich and find sufficient means to redeem it;

²⁶ And if the man have none to redeem it, and he acquire the means, sufficient to be able to redeem it himself:

²⁷ Then let him reckon the years since his sale, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; and so shall he return unto his possession.

²⁸ But if his means do not suffice to enable him to restore it to him: then shall that which he hath sold remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of the jubilee; and it shall be freed in the jubilee, and he shall return unto his possession.

²⁹ And if a man sell a dwelling-house in a walled city: then shall the time of redemption last till the end of the year of his sale; a full year shall his time of redemption last.

³⁰ And if it be not redeemed within the expiration of a full year: then shall the house which is in the walled city remain as a permanence to him that bought it throughout his generations; it shall not become freed in the jubilee.

¹⁰ And ye shall sanctify the year, the fiftieth year, and ye shall proclaim a release upon the land to all that inhabit it; it shall be given a year of release, a jubilee for you; and each one shall depart to his possession, and ye shall go each to his family.

¹¹ This is a jubilee of release, the year shall be to you the fiftieth year: ye shall not sow, nor reap the produce that comes of itself from the land, neither shall ye gather its dedicated fruits.

¹² For it is a jubilee of release; it shall be holy to you, ye shall eat its fruits off the fields.

¹³ In the year of the release even the jubilee of it, shall each one return to his possession.

¹⁶ According as there may be a greater number of years he shall increase the value of his possession, and according as there may be a less number of years he shall lessen the value of his possession; for according to the number of his crops, so shall he sell to thee.

¹⁷ Let not a man oppress his neighbor, and thou shalt fear the Lord thy God: I am the Lord thy God.

¹⁸ And ye shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgments; and do ye observe them, and ye shall keep them, and dwell securely in the land.

¹⁹ And the land shall yield her increase, and ye shall eat to fullness, and shall dwell securely in it.

²⁰ And if ye should say, What shall we eat in this seventh year, if we do not sow nor gather in our fruits?

²¹ Then will I send my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and the land shall produce its fruits for three years.

²⁵ And if thy brother who is with thee be poor, and should have sold part of his possession, and his kinsman who is nigh to him come, then he shall redeem the possession which his brother has sold.

²⁶ And if one have no near kinsman, and he prosper with his hand, and he find sufficient money, even his ransom;

²⁷ then shall he calculate the years of his sale, and he shall give what is due to the man to whom he sold it, and he shall return to his possession.

²⁸ But if his hand have not prospered sufficiently, so as that he should restore the money to him, then he that bought the possessions shall have them till the sixth year of the release; and it shall go out in the release, and the owner shall return to his possession.

²⁹ And if anyone should sell an inhabited house in a walled city, then there shall be the ransom of it, until the time is fulfilled: its time of ransom shall be a full year.

³⁰ And if it be not ransomed until there be completed of its time a full year, the house which is in the walled city shall be surely confirmed to him that bought it, throughout his generations; and it shall not go out in the release.

³¹ But the houses in the villages which have not a wall round about them, shall be reckoned as the fields of the country: they shall always be redeemable, and they shall go out in the release.

⁵ The after crop of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither make vintage of the grapes which thou mayest have left, it shall be a year of remission to the land.

⁶ Yet the remission of the land shall be to thee for food, to thee, and to thy servant, and to thy handmaid, and to thy hireling, and to the sojourner who dwelleth with thee.

⁷ And for thy cattle, and for the beasts that are in thy land, shall all the produce of it be for meat.

¹⁶ A larger number of years until the next Jubilee will increase the value of land, and a smaller number of years until the next Jubilee will decrease the value, because the number of harvests the land will produce for the new owner is related to the number of years before the next Jubilee.

¹⁷ You must not cheat or wrong one another; instead, you must honor your God, for I am Yahweh your God.

¹⁸ Therefore you must obey my decrees, keep my laws, and carry them out. Then you will live in the land in safety.

¹⁹ The land will yield its produce, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety.

²⁰ You might say, “What will we eat during the seventh year? Look, we cannot plant or gather our produce.”

²¹ I will command my blessing to come upon you in the sixth year, and it will produce harvest enough for three years.

²² You will plant in the eighth year and continue to eat from the previous years' produce and the stored food. Until the harvest of the ninth year comes in, you will be able to eat from the provisions stored in the previous years.

²³ The land must not be sold to a new permanent owner, because the land is mine. You are all foreigners and temporary residents on my land.

²⁴ You must observe the right of redemption for all the land that you acquire; you must allow the land to be bought back by the family from whom you bought it.

²⁵ If your fellow Israelite became poor and for that reason sold some of his property, then his nearest relative may come and buy back the property that he sold to you.

²⁶ If a man has no relative to redeem his property, but if he has prospered and has the ability to redeem it,

²⁷ then he may calculate the years since the land was sold and repay the balance to the man to whom he sold it. Then he may return to his own property.

²⁸ But if he is not able to get the land back for himself, then the land he has sold will remain in the ownership of the one who bought it until the year of Jubilee. At the year of Jubilee, the land will be returned to the man who sold it, and the original owner will return to his property.

³⁰ If it isn’t redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him who bought it, throughout his generations. It shall not be released in the Jubilee.

³¹ But the houses of the villages which have no wall around them shall be accounted for with the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the Jubilee.

³ You shall sow your field six years, and you shall prune your vineyard six years, and gather in its fruits;

⁴ but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.

⁵ What grows of itself in your harvest you shall not reap, and you shall not gather the grapes of your undressed vine. It shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.

⁶ The Sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for yourself, for your servant, for your maid, for your hired servant, and for your stranger, who lives as a foreigner with you.

⁷ For your livestock also, and for the animals that are in your land, shall all its increase be for food.

⁸ “‘You shall count off seven Sabbaths of years, seven times seven years; and there shall be to you the days of seven Sabbaths of years, even forty-nine years.

⁹ Then you shall sound the loud shofar on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the shofar throughout all your land.

¹⁰ You shall make the fiftieth year holy, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee to you; and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family.

¹¹ That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee to you. In it you shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself, nor gather from the undressed vines.

¹² For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat of its increase out of the field.

¹³ “‘In this Year of Jubilee each of you shall return to his property.

¹⁴ “‘If you sell anything to your neighbour, or buy from your neighbour, you shall not wrong one another.

¹⁵ According to the number of years after the Jubilee you shall buy from your neighbour. According to the number of years of the crops he shall sell to you.

¹⁶ According to the length of the years you shall increase its price, and according to the shortness of the years you shall diminish its price; for he is selling the number of the crops to you.

¹⁷ You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.

¹⁸ “‘Therefore you shall do my statutes, and keep my ordinances and do them; and you shall dwell in the land in safety.

¹⁹ The land shall yield its fruit, and you shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.

²⁰ If you said, “What shall we eat the seventh year? Behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase;”

²¹ then I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, and it shall bear fruit for the three years.

²² You shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the fruits from the old store until the ninth year. Until its fruits come in, you shall eat the old store.

²³ “‘The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and live as foreigners with me.

²⁴ In all the land of your possession you shall grant a redemption for the land.

²⁵ “‘If your brother becomes poor, and sells some of his possessions, then his kinsman who is next to him shall come, and redeem that which his brother has sold.

²⁶ If a man has no one to redeem it, and he becomes prosperous and finds sufficient means to redeem it,

²⁷ then let him reckon the years since its sale, and restore the surplus to the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return to his property.

²⁸ But if he isn’t able to get it back for himself, then what he has sold shall remain in the hand of him who has bought it until the Year of Jubilee. In the Jubilee it shall be released, and he shall return to his property.

²⁹ “‘If a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it has been sold. For a full year he shall have the right of redemption.

⁹ and thou shalt sound with a clarion in the seventh month, in the tenth day of the month, in the time of propitiation, that is, mercy, in all your land.

¹⁰ And thou shalt hallow the fiftieth year, and thou shalt call it remission, or forgiveness, to all the dwellers of thy land; for that year is the jubilee, that is, the joyful year; a man shall turn again to his possession, and each man shall go again to his first meine,

¹¹ for it is the jubilee, and the fiftieth year. Ye shall not sow, neither ye shall reap those things, that come forth freely in the field, and ye shall not gather the first fruits of the vintage,

¹² for the hallowing of the jubilee; but anon ye shall eat things taken away;

¹³ in the year of jubilee, all men go again to their possessions.

¹⁵ but by the number of the years of the jubilee thou shalt buy of him, and by the reckoning of fruits, he shall sell to thee.

¹⁶ By as much as more years dwell after the jubilee, by so much also the price shall increase, and by as much as thou numberest less of time, by so much and the buying shall cost less; for he shall sell to thee the time of fruits.

¹⁷ Do not ye torment men of your lineages, but each man dread his God; for I am your Lord God.

¹⁸ Do ye my behests, and keep ye my dooms, and fulfill ye those, that ye may dwell in this land without any dread,

¹⁹ and that the earth bring forth his fruits to you, which ye shall eat till to fullness, and dread not the assailing of any man.

²⁰ That if ye say, What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we sow not, neither gather our fruits?

²¹ I shall give my blessing to you in the sixth year, and it shall make the fruits of three years;

²² and ye shall sow in the eighth year, and ye shall eat eld or old fruits till to the ninth year; till new things come forth, ye shall eat the eld or old things.

²³ Also the land shall not be sold into without end, for it is mine, and ye be my comelings, and my tenants;

²⁴ wherefore all the country of your possession shall be sold under the condition of again-buying.

²⁵ If thy brother is made poor, and selleth his little possession, and his nigh kinsmen will, he may again-buy that that he sold;

²⁶ soothly if he hath no nigh kinsman, and he may find the price to again-buy,

²⁷ the fruits shall be reckoned from that time in which he sold it, and he shall yield that that is left to the buyer, and he shall receive so his possession again.

²⁸ That if his hand findeth not, that he yield the price, the buyer shall have that that he bought, till to the year of jubilee; for in that year each selling shall go again to the lord, and to the first wielder.

²⁹ He that selleth his house, within the walls of a city, shall have license to again-buy, till one year be full-filled;

³⁰ if he again-buyeth not, and the circle of the year is passed, the buyer shall wield it, and his heirs into without end, and it shall not be able to be again-bought, yea, in the jubilee.

³¹ Forsooth if the house is in a town that hath not walls, it shall be sold by the law of the fields; soothly if it is not again-bought in the jubilee, it shall turn again to the lord thereof.

¹⁶ (That is), By as much as more years dwell after the jubilee, by so much also the price shall increase, and by as much as thou numberest less of time, by so much and the buying shall cost less (or by so much the buying, or the purchasing, shall cost less); for he shall sell to thee the time of (the) fruits.

²⁹ He that selleth his house, within the walls of a city, shall have license to again-buy (it), till one year be full-filled; (He who selleth his house, within the walls of a city, shall have license to buy it back, until one year is fulfilled;)

³⁰ if he again-buyeth (it) not, and the circle of the year is passed, the buyer shall wield it, and his heirs into without end, and it shall not be able to be again-bought, yea, in the jubilee. (but if he buyeth it not back, and the circle of the year is passed, the buyer, and his heirs, shall own it forever, and it shall not be able to be bought back, yea, even in the Jubilee Year.)

⁸ Also thou schalt noumbre to thee seuene woukis of yeeris, that is, seuene sithes seuene, whiche togidere maken nyn and fourti yeer;

⁹ and thou schalt sowne with a clarioun in the seuenthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe, in the tyme of propiciacioun, `that is, merci, in al youre lond.

¹⁰ And thou schalt halewe the fiftithe yeer, and thou schalt clepe remissioun to alle the dwellers of thi lond; for thilke yeer is iubilee; a man schal turne ayen to hys possessioun, and ech man schal go ayen to the firste meynee,

¹¹ for it is iubilee, and the fiftithe yeer. Ye schulen not sowe, nether ye schulen repe thingis, that comen forth freli in the feeld, and ye schulen not gadere the firste fruytis of vyndage, for the halewyng of iubilee;

¹² but anoon ye schulen ete thingis takun awey;

¹³ in the yeer of iubilee alle men go ayen to her possessiouns.

¹⁴ Whanne thou schalt sille ony thing to thi citeseyn, ether schalt bie of hym, make thou not sory thi brother, but bi the noumbre of `yeeris of iubile thou schalt bie of him,

¹⁵ and bi the rekenyng of fruytis he schal sille to thee.

¹⁶ Bi as myche as mo yeeris dwellen after the iubilee, by so myche also the prijs schal encreesse, and bi as myche as thou noumbrist lesse of tyme, bi so myche and the biyng schal cost lesse; for he schal sille to thee the time of fruytis.

¹⁷ Nyle ye turment men of youre lynagis, but ech man drede his God; for Y am youre Lord God.

¹⁸ Do ye my comaundementis, and kepe ye my domes, and fille ye tho, that ye moun dwelle in his lond without ony drede,

¹⁹ and that the erthe brynge forth hise fruytis to you, whiche ye schulen ete `til to fulnesse, and drede not the assailyng of ony man.

²⁰ That if ye seien, what schulen we ete in the seuenthe yeer, if we sowen not, nether gaderen oure fruytis?

²¹ Y schal yyue my blessyng to you in the sixte yeer, and it schal make fruytis of three yeer;

²² and ye schulen sowe in the eiyte yeer, and ye schulen ete elde fruytis `til to the nynthe yeer; til newe thingis comen forth ye schulen ete the elde thingis.

²³ Also the lond schal not be seeld `in to with outen ende, for it is myn, and ye ben my comelyngis and tenauntis;

²⁴ wherfor al the cuntre of youre possessioun schal be seeld vndur the condicioun of ayenbiyng.

²⁵ If thi brother is maad pore, and sillith his litil possessioun, and his nyy kynesman wole, he may ayenbie that that he seelde;

²⁶ sotheli if he hath no nyy kynesman, and he may fynde prijs to ayenbie,

²⁷ the fruytis schulen be rekynyd fro that tyme in which he seelde, and he schal yelde `that that is residue to the biere, and he schal resseyue so his possessioun.

²⁸ That if his hond fynde not, that he yelde the prijs, the biere schal haue that that he bouyte, `til to the yeer of iubilee; for in that yeer ech sillyng schal go ayen to the lord, and to the firste weldere.

²⁹ He that sillith his hows, with ynne the wallis of a citee, schal haue licence to ayenbie til o yeer be fillid;

³⁰ if he ayenbieth not, and the sercle of the yeer is passid, the biere schal welde it, and his eiris `in to with outen ende, and it schal not mow be ayenbouyt, ye, in the iubilee.

³¹ Forsothe if the hows is in a town `that hath not wallis, it schal be seeld bi the lawe of feeldis; sotheli if it is not ayenbouyt in the iubilee, it schal turne ayen to `his lord.

⁶ 'And the sabbath of the land hath been to you for food, to thee, and to thy man-servant, and to thy handmaid, and to thy hireling, and to thy settler, who are sojourning with thee;

⁷ and to thy cattle, and to the beast which is in thy land, is all thine increase for food.

⁹ and thou hast caused a trumpet of shouting to pass over in the seventh month, in the tenth of the month; in the day of the atonements ye do cause a trumpet to pass over through all your land;

¹⁰ and ye have hallowed the year, the fiftieth year; and ye have proclaimed liberty in the land to all its inhabitants; a jubilee it is to you; and ye have turned back each unto his possession; yea, each unto his family ye do turn back.

¹⁶ according to the multitude of the years thou dost multiply its price, and according to the fewness of the years thou dost diminish its price; for a number of increases he is selling to thee;

¹⁷ and ye do not oppress one another, and thou hast been afraid of thy God; for I am Jehovah your God.

¹⁸ 'And ye have done My statutes, and My judgments ye keep, and have done them, and ye have dwelt on the land confidently,

¹⁹ and the land hath given its fruit, and ye have eaten to satiety, and have dwelt confidently on it.

²⁰ 'And when ye say, What do we eat in the seventh year, lo, we do not sow, nor gather our increase?

²¹ then I have commanded My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it hath made the increase for three years;

²² and ye have sown the eighth year, and have eaten of the old increase; until the ninth year, until the coming in of its increase, ye do eat the old.

²³ 'And the land is not sold — to extinction, for the land is Mine, for sojourners and settlers are ye with Me;

²⁴ and in all the land of your possession a redemption ye do give to the land.

²⁵ 'When thy brother becometh poor, and hath sold his possession, then hath his redeemer who is near unto him come, and he hath redeemed the sold thing of his brother;

²⁶ and when a man hath no redeemer, and his own hand hath attained, and he hath found as sufficient for its redemption,

²⁷ then he hath reckoned the years of its sale, and hath given back that which is over to the man to whom he sold it, and he hath returned to his possession.

²⁸ 'And if his hand hath not found sufficiency to give back to him, then hath his sold thing been in the hand of him who buyeth it till the year of jubilee; and it hath gone out in the jubilee, and he hath returned to his possession.

²⁹ 'And when a man selleth a dwelling-house in a walled city, then hath his right of redemption been until the completion of a year from its selling; days — is his right of redemption;

³⁰ and if it is not redeemed until the fulness to him of a perfect year, then hath the house which is in a walled city been established to extinction to the buyer of it, to his generations; it goeth not out in the jubilee;

³¹ and a house of the villages which have no wall round about, on the field of the country is reckoned; redemption is to it, and in the jubilee it goeth out.
