Leviticus 27:19-29 in English

¹⁹ And if he that sanctified the field will indeed redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

²⁰ And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more:

²¹ but the field, when it goeth out in the jubilee, shall be holy unto Jehovah, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest’s.

²² And if he sanctify unto Jehovah a field which he hath bought, which is not of the field of his possession;

²³ then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation unto the year of jubilee: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto Jehovah.

²⁴ In the year of jubilee the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land belongeth.

²⁵ And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

²⁶ Only the firstling among beasts, which is made a firstling to Jehovah, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox or sheep, it is Jehovah’s.

²⁹ No one devoted, that shall be devoted from among men, shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death.

²⁴ And in the year of release the land shall be restored to the man of whom the other bought it, whose the possession of the land was.

²⁵ And every valuation shall be by holy weights: the didrachm shall be twenty oboli.

²⁶ And every first-born which shall be produced among thy cattle shall be the Lord's, and no man shall sanctify it: whether calf or sheep, it is the Lord's.

²⁷ But if he should redeem an unclean beast, according to its valuation, then he shall add the fifth part to it, and it shall be his; and if he redeem it not, it shall be sold according to its valuation.

²⁸ And every dedicated thing which a man shall dedicate to the Lord of all that he has, whether man or beast, or of the field of his possession, he shall not sell it, nor redeem it: every devoted thing shall be most holy to the Lord.

²⁹ And whatever shall be dedicated of men, shall not be ransomed, but shall be surely put to death.

¹⁹ If the person who dedicated the field later wants to buy it back, he must pay to the priest the price that the priest says it is worth, plus an added one-fifth, and then the field will belong to that man again.

²⁰ However, if he does not buy it back, or if it has been sold (OR, the priest has sold it) to someone else, that person will never be permitted to buy it back again.

²¹ In the Year of Celebration, it will become sacred again, and it will be given to the priest.

²² If someone dedicates to me some land that he has bought, land which is not part of the land that his family has always owned,

²³ the priest will count the number of years until the next Year of Celebration to determine how much it is worth, and the man must pay that amount to the priest on that day, and then that land will belong to that man again.

²⁴ But in the Year of Celebration, the land will again be owned by the person from whom he bought it, the person whose family had always owned that land.

²⁵ All the silver that is paid must be compared with the official pieces of silver in the Sacred Tent.

²⁶ No one is permitted to dedicate to me the firstborn of any cow or sheep, because the firstborn already belongs to me DOU.

²⁷ If someone gives to me a kind of animal that is not acceptable to me, that person may later buy it back by paying what it is worth plus an additial 20 percent of its value. If he does not buy it back, it must be sold (OR, the priest must sell it) for its standard price.

²⁸ However, no slave or animal or family land that someone owns can be sold or bought back after it has been dedicated to me and no price has been paid for it. That kind of gift belongs to me permanently/forever.

²⁹ No person who has done something that I consider to be very wicked is permitted to be freed from being punished; that person must surely be executed.

²¹ But the field, when it becomes free at the year of Jubilee, will be holy to the Lord, as a field given under oath: it will be the property of the priest.

²² And if a man gives to the Lord a field which he has got for money from another, which is not part of his heritage;

²³ Then the value fixed by you up to the year of Jubilee will be worked out for him by the priest, and in that day he will give the amount of your value as holy to the Lord.

²⁴ In the year of Jubilee the field will go back to him from whom he got it, that is, to him whose heritage it was.

²⁵ And let all your values be based on the shekel of the holy place, that is, twenty gerahs to the shekel.

²⁶ But a man may not give by oath to the Lord the first-fruits of cattle which are offered to the Lord: if it is an ox or a sheep it is the Lord's.

²⁷ And if it is an unclean beast, then the owner of it may give money to get it back, in agreement with the value fixed by you, by giving a fifth more; or if it is not taken back, let it be given for money in agreement with your valuing.

²⁸ But nothing which a man has given completely to the Lord, out of all his property, of man or beast, or of the land which is his heritage, may be given away or got back in exchange for money; anything completely given is most holy to the Lord.

²⁹ Any man given completely to the Lord may not be got back: he is certainly to be put to death.

¹⁹ And if he that hallowed the field will in any wise redeem it, he shall add the fifth of the money of thy valuation unto it, and it shall be assured to him;

²⁰ but if he do not redeem the field, or if he sell the field to another man, it cannot be redeemed any more;

²¹ and the field, when it goeth out in the jubilee, shall be holy to Jehovah, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.

²⁰ And if he will not redeem it, but it be sold to any other man, he that vowed it, may not redeem it any more:

²¹ For when the day of jubilee cometh, it shall be sanctified to the Lord, and as a possession consecrated, pertaineth to the right of the priests.

²² If a field that was bought, and not of a man’s ancestors’ possession, be sanctified to the Lord,

²³ The priest shall reckon the price according to the number of years: unto the jubilee: and he that had vowed, shall give that to the Lord.

²⁴ But in the jubilee, it shall return to the former owner, who had sold it, and had it in the lot of his possession.

²⁵ All estimation shall be made according to the side of the sanctuary. A sicle hath twenty obols.

²⁶ The firstborn, which belong to the Lord, no man may sanctify and vow: whether it be bullock, or sheep, they are the Lord’s.

²⁷ And if it be an unclean beast, he that offereth it shall redeem it, according to thy estimation, and shall add the fifth part of the price. If he will not redeem it, it shall be sold to another for how much soever it was estimated by thee.

²⁸ Any thing that is devoted to the Lord, whether it be man, or beast, or field, shall not be sold, neither may it be redeemed. Whatsoever is once consecrated shall be holy of holies to the Lord.

²⁹ And any consecration that is offered by man, shall not be redeemed, but dying shall die.

¹⁹ But if you want to buy your field back, you have to add one fifth to its value in payment. Then it will belong to you again.

²⁰ But if you don't buy the field back, or if you've already sold it to someone else, it can't ever be bought back.

²¹ When the Jubilee comes, the field will become holy, in the same way as a field devoted to the Lord. It will become the property of the priests.

²² If you dedicate to the Lord a field you've bought that was not part of your original property,

²³ the priest will work out the value until the next Jubilee Year. You will pay on that day the exact value, giving it as a holy offering to the Lord.

²⁴ In the Jubilee Year, ownership the field shall revert back to the person you bought it from—to the original owner of the land.

²⁵ (All values will use the sanctuary shekel standard of twenty gerahs to the shekel.)

²⁶ No one is allowed to dedicate the firstborn of the livestock, because the firstborn belong to the Lord. Whether they are cattle, sheep, or goats, they are the Lord's.

²⁷ But if it is an unclean animal, then you can buy it back according to its value, adding on one fifth extra. If it's not bought back, then it is to be sold according to its value.

²⁸ Anything that you specially dedicate to the Lord from what you own, whether it's a person, an animal, or your land, can't be sold or bought back. Anything specially dedicated if most holy to the Lord.

²⁹ No one who is specially dedicated to destruction can be bought back. They must be killed.

¹⁹ And if he that dedicateth it, will redeeme the fielde, then he shall put the fift parte of the price, that thou esteemedst it at, thereunto, and it shall remaine his.

²⁰ And if he will not redeeme the fielde, but the Priest sell the fielde to another man, it shalbe redeemed no more.

²¹ But the field shalbe holy to the Lord, whe it goeth out in the Iubile, as a fielde separate from common vses: the possession thereof shall be the Priests.

²² If a man also dedicate vnto ye Lord a fielde which he hath bought, which is not of the groud of his inheritance,

²³ Then the Priest shall set the price to him, as thou esteemest it, vnto the yeere of Iubile, and he shall giue thy price the same day, as a thing holy vnto the Lord.

²⁴ But in the yeere of Iubile, the fielde shall returne vnto him, of whome it was bought: to him, I say, whose inheritance the land was.

²⁵ And all thy valuation shall bee according to the shekel of the Sanctuarie: a shekel conteyneth twenty gerahs.

²⁶ Notwithstanding the first borne of the beastes, because it is the Lordes first borne, none shall dedicate such, be it bullocke, or sheepe; for it is the Lords.

²⁷ But if it be an vncleane beast, then he shall redeeme it by thy valuation, and giue the fift part more thereto: and if it be not redeemed, then it shalbe solde, according to thy estimation.

²⁸ Notwithstanding, nothing separate from the common vse that a man doeth separate vnto the Lord of all that he hath (whether it bee man or beast, or lande of his inheritance) may be solde nor redeemed: for euery thing separate from the common vse is most holy vnto the Lord.

²⁹ Nothing separate from the common vse, which shall be separate from man, shalbe redeemed, but dye the death.

²⁴ In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

²⁵ And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

²⁶ Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the Lord’s firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the Lord’s.

²⁷ And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.

²⁸ Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the Lord of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the Lord.

²⁹ None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

¹⁹ And if he that sanctified the field will redeem it, then shall he add the fifth part of the money of the estimated value unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

²⁰ But if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.

²¹ But the field, when it is freed in the jubilee, shall be holy unto the Lord, as a devoted field: to the priest shall it belong as his possession.

²² And if a man sanctify a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession, unto the Lord:

²³ Then shall the priest reckon unto him the amount of the estimated value to the year of the jubilee; and he shall give this estimation on that day, as a holy thing unto the Lord.

²¹ But the field shall be holy to the Lord after the release, as separated land; the priest shall have possession of it.

²² And if he should consecrate to the Lord of a field which he has bought, which is not of the field of his possession,

²³ the priest shall reckon to him the full valuation from the year of release, and he shall pay the valuation in that day as holy to the Lord.

²⁴ And in the year of release the land shall be restored to the man of whom the other bought it, whose the possession of the land was.

²⁵ And every valuation shall be by holy weights: the didrachma shall be twenty oboli.

²⁶ And every firstborn which shall be produced among thy cattle shall be the Lord’s, and no man shall sanctify it: whether calf or sheep, it is the Lord’s.

²⁷ But if he should redeem an unclean beast, according to its valuation, then he shall add the fifth part to it, and it shall be his; and if he redeem it not, it shall be sold according to its valuation.

²⁸ And every dedicated thing which a man shall dedicate to the Lord of all that he has, whether man or beast, or of the field of his possession, he shall not sell it, nor redeem it: every devoted thing shall be most holy to the Lord.

²⁹ And whatever shall be dedicated of men, shall not be ransomed, but shall be surely put to death.

¹⁹ But if he will redeem the field that he had consecrated, let him add to it a fifth of its valuated price, and it shall be confirmed to him.

²⁰ But if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more:

²¹ But the field, when it would have gone out at the Jubilee, shall be consecrated before the Lord as a field devoted (hekel cherema); the possession of it shall be to the priest.

²² And if a man will consecrate before the Lord a field which he hath bought, and which is not of the fields of his inheritance,

²³ then the priest shall reckon the sum (receipt) of its value until the year of Jubilee, and he shall give the price of it in that day, a holy thing before the Lord.

²⁵ All your valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: the shekel is 0.4oz; 11.34 g; or called twenty gerahs 20/50 of an oz.

¹⁹ If the man who set apart the field wishes to redeem it, then he must add a fifth to the valuation, and it will belong to him.

²⁰ If he does not redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it cannot be redeemed any more.

²¹ Instead, the field, when it is released in the year of Jubilee, will be a holy gift to Yahweh, like the field that has been completely given to Yahweh. It will belong to the priest.

²² If a man sets apart a field that he has bought, but that field is not part of his family's land,

²³ then the priest will figure the valuation of it up to the year of Jubilee, and the man must pay its value on that day as a holy gift to Yahweh.

²⁴ In the year of Jubilee, the field will return to the man from whom it was bought, to the land's owner.

²⁵ All the valuations must be set by the weight of the sanctuary shekel. Twenty gerahs must be the equivalent of one shekel.

²⁶ No one may set apart the firstborn among animals, since the firstborn already belongs to Yahweh; whether ox or sheep, it is Yahweh's.

²⁷ If it is an unclean animal, then the owner may buy it back at the valuation of it, and a fifth must be added to that value. If the animal is not redeemed, then it is to be sold at the set value.

²⁸ But nothing that a man devotes to Yahweh, from all that he has, whether human or animal, or his family land, may be sold or redeemed. Everything that is devoted is very holy to Yahweh.

²⁹ No ransom may be paid for the person who is devoted for destruction. That person must be put to death.

²⁰ but if he will not again-buy it, but it is sold to any other man, he that avowed it shall never be able to again-buy it; (but if he will not buy it back, and it is sold to another man, then he who vowed it shall never be able to buy it back;)

²¹ for when the day of jubilee cometh, that field shall be hallowed to the Lord, and the possession hallowed pertaineth to the right of priests. (for when the Jubilee Year cometh, that field shall be holy to the Lord, and dedicated possessions belong to the priests.)

²⁴ forsooth in the jubilee it shall turn again to the former lord that sold it, and he shall have it into the heritage of his possession. (but in the Jubilee Year it shall return to the original owner who sold it, and it shall be in the inheritance of his possession.)

¹⁹ That if he that avowide wole ayenbie the feeld, he schal adde the fyuethe part of the money preisid, and he schal welde it;

²⁰ but if he nyle ayenbie, but it is seeld to ony othir man, he that avowide schal `no more mowe ayenbie it;

²¹ for whanne the dai of iubilee cometh, it schal be halewid to the Lord, and the possessioun halewid perteyneth to the riyt of preestis.

²² If the feeld is bouyt, and is not of the possessioun of grettere men,

²³ and is halewid to the Lord, the preest schal determyne the prijs bi the noumbre of yeeris `til to the iubilee, and he that avowide the feeld schal yyue the prijs to the Lord;

²⁴ forsothe in the iubilee it schal turne ayen to the formere lord that seelde it, and `haue he in to the eritage of his possessioun.

²⁵ `Ech preisyng schal be peisid bi the sicle of seyntuarie; a sicle hath twenti halpens.

²⁶ No man may halewe and avowe the firste gendrid thingis that perteynen to the Lord, whether it is oxe, whether scheep, tho ben the Lordis part.

²⁷ That if the beeste is vncleene, he that offride schal ayenbie by his valu, and he schal adde the fyuethe part of prijs; if he nyle ayenbie, it schal be seeld to another man, as myche euer as it is `set at valu.

²⁸ Al thing which is halewid to the Lord, whether it is man, whether beeste, whether feeld, it schal not be seeld, nether it schal mow be ayenbouyt; whateuer thing is halewid onys, it schal be hooli of the noumbre of hooli thingis to the Lord,

²⁹ and ech halewyng which is offrid of man, schal not be ayenbouyt, but it schal die bi deeth.

²⁰ and if he do not redeem the field, or if he hath sold the field to another man, it is not redeemed any more;

²¹ and the field hath been, in its going out in the jubilee, holy to Jehovah as a field which is devoted; to the priest is its possession.

²² 'And if the field of his purchase (which is not of the fields of his possession) one sanctify to Jehovah —

²³ then hath the priest reckoned to him the amount of thy valuation unto the year of jubilee, and he hath given thy valuation in that day — a holy thing to Jehovah;
