Help us?

Leviticus 25:18-50 in American Standard Version (1901)

18 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep mine ordinances and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.
19 And the land shall yield its fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
20 And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase;
21 then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for the three years.
22 And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the fruits, the old store; until the ninth year, until its fruits come in, ye shall eat the old store.
23 And the land shall not be sold in perpetuity; for the land is mine: for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.
24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25 If thy brother be waxed poor, and sell some of his possession, then shall his kinsman that is next unto him come, and shall redeem that which his brother hath sold.
26 And if a man have no one to redeem it, and he be waxed rich and find sufficient to redeem it;
27 then let him reckon the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return unto his possession.
28 But if he be not able to get it back for himself, then that which he hath sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee: and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
29 And if a man sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; for a full year shall he have the right of redemption.
30 And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubilee.
31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be reckoned with the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.
32 Nevertheless the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.
33 And if one of the Levites redeem, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
34 But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.
35 And if thy brother be waxed poor, and his hand fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a sojourner shall he live with thee.
36 Take thou no interest of him or increase, but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.
37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon interest, nor give him thy victuals for increase.
38 I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.
39 And if thy brother be waxed poor with thee, and sell himself unto thee; thou shalt not make him to serve as a bondservant.
40 As a hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee; he shall serve with thee unto the year of jubilee:
41 then shall he go out from thee, he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
42 For they are my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.
43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigor, but shalt fear thy God.
44 And as for thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, whom thou shalt have; of the nations that are round about you, of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they have begotten in your land: and they shall be your possession.
46 And ye shall make them an inheritance for your children after you, to hold for a possession; of them shall ye take your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel ye shall not rule, one over another, with rigor.
47 And if a stranger or sojourner with thee be waxed rich, and thy brother be waxed poor beside him, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner with thee, or to the stock of the stranger’s family;
48 after that he is sold he may be redeemed: one of his brethren may redeem him;
49 or his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be waxed rich, he may redeem himself.
50 And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he sold himself to him unto the year of jubilee: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years; according to the time of a hired servant shall he be with him.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

18 And ye shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgments; and do ye observe them, and ye shall keep them, and dwell securely in the land.
19 And the land shall yield her increase, and ye shall eat to fulness, and shall dwell securely in it.
20 And if ye should say, What shall we eat in this seventh year, if we do not sow nor gather in our fruits?
21 Then will I send my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and the land shall produce its fruits for three years.
22 And ye shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old fruits till the ninth year: until its fruit come, ye shall eat old fruits of the old.
23 And the land shall not be sold for a permanence; for the land is mine, because ye are strangers and sojourners before me.
24 And in every land of your possession, ye shall allow ransoms for the land.
25 And if thy brother who is with thee be poor, and should have sold part of his possession, and his kinsman who is nigh to him come, then he shall redeem the possession which his brother has sold.
26 And if one have no near kinsman, and he prosper with his hand, and he find sufficient money, even his ransom;
27 then shall he calculate the years of his sale, and he shall give what is due to the man to whom he sold it, and he shall return to his possession.
28 But if his hand have not prospered sufficiently, so as that he should restore the money to him, then he that bought the possessions shall have them till the sixth year of the release; and it shall go out in the release, and the owner shall return to his possession.
29 And if any one should sell an inhabited house in a walled city, then there shall be the ransom of it, until the time is fulfilled: its time of ransom shall be a full year.
30 And if it be not ransomed until there be completed of its time a full year, the house which is in the walled city shall be surely confirmed to him that bought it, throughout his generations; and it shall not go out in the release.
31 But the houses in the villages which have not a wall round about them, shall be reckoned as the fields of the country: they shall always be redeemable, and they shall go out in the release.
32 And the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities in their possession, shall be always redeemable to the Levites.
33 And if any one shall redeem a house of the Levites, then shall their sale of the houses of their possession go out in the release; because the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession in the midst of the children of Israel.
34 And the lands set apart for their cities shall not be sold, because this is their perpetual possession.
35 And if thy brother who is with thee become poor, and he fail in resources with thee, thou shalt help him as a stranger and a sojourner, and thy brother shall live with thee.
36 Thou shalt not receive from him interest, nor increase: and thou shalt fear thy God: I am the Lord: and thy brother shall live with thee.
37 Thou shalt not lend thy money to him at interest, and thou shalt not lend thy meat to him to be returned with increase.
38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Chanaan, so as to be your God.
39 And if thy brother by thee be lowered, and be sold to thee, he shall not serve thee with the servitude of a slave.
40 He shall be with thee as a hireling or a sojourner, he shall work for thee till the year of release:
41 and he shall go out in the release, and his children with him; and he shall go to his family, he shall hasten back to his patrimony.
42 Because these are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; such an one shall not be sold as a common servant.
43 Thou shalt not oppress him with labour, and shalt fear the Lord thy God.
44 And whatever number of men-servants and maid-servants thou shalt have, thou shalt purchase male and female servants from the nations that are round about thee.
45 And of the sons of the sojourners that are among you, of these ye shall buy and of their relations, all that shall be in your lands; let them be to you for a possession.
46 And ye shall distribute them to your children after you, and they shall be to you permanent possessions for ever: but of your brethren the children of Israel, one shall not oppress his brother in labours.
47 And if a stranger or sojourner with thee wax rich, and thy brother in distress be sold to the stranger or the sojourner that is with thee, or to a proselyte by extraction;
48 after he is sold to him there shall be redemption for him, one of his brethren shall redeem him.
49 A brother of his father, or son of his father's brother shall redeem him; or let one of his near kin of his tribe redeem him, and if he should be rich and redeem himself,
50 then shall he calculate with his purchaser from the year that he sold himself to him until the year of release: and the money of his purchase shall be as that of a hireling, he shall be with him from year to year.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Translation for Translators

18 Obey all my laws DOU carefully. If you do that, you will continue to live safely in your country DOU.
19 And crops will grow well on the land, and you will have plenty to eat.
20 But you may ask, ‘If we do not plant or harvest our crops during the seventh year, what will we have to eat?’
21 My answer is that I will bless you very much during the sixth/previous year, with the result that during that year there will be enough crops to provide food for you for three years!
22 Then, after you plant seed during the eighth/next year and wait for the crops to grow, you will eat the food grown in the sixth year, and continue to eat it until more food is harvested in the ninth year!
23 You must not sell any of your land to belong to someone else permanently, because the land is not yours; it is really mine, and you are only living on it temporarily and ◄farming/taking care of► it for me.
24 Throughout the land that you will possess, you must remember that if someone sells some of his land to you, he is permitted to buy it back from you if he wants to.
25 So, if one of your fellow Israelis becomes poor and sells some of his property to obtain some money, the person who is most closely related to him is permitted to come and buy that land for him.
26 However, if a man has no one to buy the land for him, and he himself prospers again and saves enough money to buy that land back,
27 he must calculate how many years there will be until the next Year of Celebration. Then he must pay to the man who bought the land the money that he would have earned by continuing to grow crops on that land for those years.
28 But if the original owner does not have any money to buy the land that he sold, it will continue to belong to the man who bought it, until the next Year of Celebration. In that year it must be returned to its original owner, and he will be able to live on it again.
29 If someone who lives in a city that has a wall around it sells a house there, during the next year he will be permitted to buy it from the man who bought it.
30 If he does not buy it during that year, it will belong permanently to the man who bought it and to his descendants. It must not be returned to the original owner in the Year of Celebration.
31 But houses that are in villages that do not have walls around them are considered to be as though they are in a field. So if someone sells one of those houses, he is permitted to buy it back at any time. And if he does not buy it, it must be returned to him in the Year of Celebration.
32 If any descendants of Levi sell their houses in the towns in which they live, they are permitted to buy them back at any time.
33 And because the houses in their towns are on land that was given to them by other Israelis, that land will become theirs again in the Year of Celebration if they do not buy it back before then.
34 But the pastureland near their towns must not be sold. It must belong to the original owners permanently/forever.
35 If one of your fellow Israelis becomes poor and is unable to buy what he needs IDM, others of you must help him like you would help a foreigner who is living among you DOU temporarily.
36 If you lend money to him, do not charge any kind of interest DOU. Instead, show by what you do that you revere me, your God, and help that man, in order that he will be able to continue to live among you.
37 If you lend him money, do not charge interest; and if you sell food to him, charge him only what you paid for it; do not get a profit from it.
38 Do not forget that I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God and to give you the land of Canaan, and I did not charge you for doing that.
39 If one of your fellow Israelis becomes poor and sells himself to you, do not force him to work like a slave.
40 Treat him like you treat workers that you hire or like someone who is living on your land temporarily. But he must work for you only until the Year of Celebration.
41 During that year, you must free him, and he will go back to his family and to the property that his ancestors owned.
42 It is as though you Israelis are my slaves/servants, whom I freed from being slaves in Egypt. So none of you should be sold to become slaves.
43 And do not treat the Israelis whom you buy cruelly; instead, revere me, your God.
44 If you want to have slaves, you are permitted to buy them from nearby countries.
45 You are also permitted to buy some of the foreigners who are living among you, and members of their clans that were born in your country. Then you will own them.
46 They will be your slaves for the remaining years of your life, and after you die, it is permitted for your children to own them. But you must not act in brutal ways toward your fellow Israelis.
47 If a foreigner who is living among you DOU becomes rich, and if one of your fellow Israelis becomes poor and sells himself to that foreigner or to a member of his clan/family,
48 it is permitted for someone to pay for him to be freed. It is permitted for one of his relatives to pay for him to be released:
49 An uncle or a cousin or another relative in his clan may pay for him to be released. Or, if he prospers and gets enough money, he is permitted to pay for his own release.
50 The man who wants to pay for his own release must count the number of years until the next Year of Celebration. The price he pays to the man who bought him will depend on the pay that would be given to a hired worker for that number of years.
Leviticus 25 in Translation for Translators

Leviticus 25:18-50 in LXX2012: Septuagint in British/International English 2012

18 And you° shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgements; and do you° observe them, and you° shall keep them, and dwell securely in the land.
19 And the land shall yield her increase, and you° shall eat to fullness, and shall dwell securely in it.
20 And if you° should say, What shall we eat in this seventh year, if we do not sow nor gather in our fruits?
21 Then will I send my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and the land shall produce its fruits for three years.
22 And you° shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old fruits till the ninth year: until its fruit come, you° shall eat old fruits of the old.
23 And the land shall not be sold for a permanence; for the land is mine, because you° are strangers and sojourners before me.
24 And in every land of your possession, you° shall allow ransoms for the land.
25 And if your brother who is with you be poor, and should have sold part of his possession, and his kinsman who is near to him come, then he shall redeem the possession which his brother has sold.
26 And if one have no near kinsman, and he prosper with his hand, and he find sufficient money, even his ransom;
35 And if your brother who is with you become poor, and he fail in resources with you, you shall help him as a stranger and a sojourner, and your brother shall live with you.
36 You shall not receive from him interest, nor increase: and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord: and your brother shall live with you.
37 You shall not lend your money to him at interest, and you shall not lend your meat to him to be returned with increase.
38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Chanaan, so as to be your God.
39 And if your brother by you be lowered, and be sold to you, he shall not serve you with the servitude of a slave.
40 He shall be with you as a hireling or a sojourner, he shall work for you till the year of release:
41 and he shall go out in the release, and his children with him; and he shall go to his family, he shall hasten back to his patrimony.
42 Because these are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; such an one shall not be sold as a common servant.
43 You shall not oppress him with labour, and shall fear the Lord your God.
44 And whatever number of menservants and maidservants you shall have, you shall purchase male and female servants from the nations that are round about you.
45 And of the sons of the sojourners that are amongst you, of these you° shall buy and of their relations, all that shall be in your lands; let them be to you for a possession.
46 And you° shall distribute them to your children after you, and they shall be to you permanent possessions for ever: but of your brethren the children of Israel, one shall not oppress his brother in labours.
47 And if a stranger or sojourner with you wax rich, and your brother in distress be sold to the stranger or the sojourner that is with you, or to a proselyte by extraction;
48 after he is sold to him there shall be redemption for him, one of his brethren shall redeem him.
49 A brother of his father, or a son of his father's brother shall redeem him; or let one of his near kin of his tribe redeem him, and if he should be rich and redeem himself,
50 then shall he calculate with his purchaser from the year that he sold himself to him until the year of release: and the money of his purchase shall be as that of a hireling, he shall be with him from year to year.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in World English Bible with Deuterocanon

18 “‘Therefore you shall do my statutes, and keep my ordinances and do them; and you shall dwell in the land in safety.
19 The land shall yield its fruit, and you shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.
20 If you said, “What shall we eat the seventh year? Behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase;”
21 then I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, and it shall bear fruit for the three years.
22 You shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the fruits from the old store until the ninth year. Until its fruits come in, you shall eat the old store.
23 “‘The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and live as foreigners with me.
24 In all the land of your possession you shall grant a redemption for the land.
25 “‘If your brother becomes poor, and sells some of his possessions, then his kinsman who is next to him shall come, and redeem that which his brother has sold.
26 If a man has no one to redeem it, and he becomes prosperous and finds sufficient means to redeem it,
27 then let him reckon the years since its sale, and restore the surplus to the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return to his property.
28 But if he isn’t able to get it back for himself, then what he has sold shall remain in the hand of him who has bought it until the Year of Jubilee. In the Jubilee it shall be released, and he shall return to his property.
29 “‘If a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it has been sold. For a full year he shall have the right of redemption.
30 If it isn’t redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him who bought it, throughout his generations. It shall not be released in the Jubilee.
31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall around them shall be accounted for with the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the Jubilee.
32 “‘Nevertheless, in the cities of the Levites, the Levites may redeem the houses in the cities of their possession at any time.
33 The Levites may redeem the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, and it shall be released in the Jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.

35 “‘If your brother has become poor, and his hand can’t support himself among you, then you shall uphold him. He shall live with you like an alien and a temporary resident.
36 Take no interest from him or profit; but fear your God, that your brother may live among you.
37 You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.
38 I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

40 As a hired servant, and as a temporary resident, he shall be with you; he shall serve with you until the Year of Jubilee.
41 Then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and shall return to his own family, and to the possession of his fathers.
42 For they are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. They shall not be sold as slaves.
43 You shall not rule over him with harshness, but shall fear your God.
44 “‘As for your male and your female slaves, whom you may have from the nations that are around you, from them you may buy male and female slaves.
45 Moreover, of the children of the aliens who live among you, of them you may buy, and of their families who are with you, which they have conceived in your land; and they will be your property.
46 You may make them an inheritance for your children after you, to hold for a possession. Of them you may take your slaves forever, but over your brothers the children of Israel you shall not rule, one over another, with harshness.
47 “‘If an alien or temporary resident with you becomes rich, and your brother beside him has grown poor, and sells himself to the stranger or foreigner living among you, or to a member of the stranger’s family,
48 after he is sold he may be redeemed. One of his brothers may redeem him;
49 or his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or any who is a close relative to him of his family may redeem him; or if he has grown rich, he may redeem himself.
50 He shall reckon with him who bought him from the year that he sold himself to him to the Year of Jubilee. The price of his sale shall be according to the number of years; he shall be with him according to the time of a hired servant.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Bible in Basic English

18 So keep my rules and my decisions and do them, and you will be safe in your land.
19 And the land will give her fruit, and you will have food in full measure and be safe in the land.
20 And if you say, Where will our food come from in the seventh year, when we may not put in seed, or get in the increase
21 Then I will send my blessing on you in the sixth year, and the land will give fruit enough for three years.
22 And in the eighth year you will put in your seed, and get your food from the old stores, till the fruit of the ninth year is ready.
23 No exchange of land may be for ever, for the land is mine, and you are as my guests, living with me for a time.
24 Wherever there is property in land, the owner is to have the right of getting it back.
25 If your brother becomes poor, and has to give up some of his land for money, his nearest relation may come and get back that which his brother has given up.
26 And if he has no one to get it back for him, and later he himself gets wealth and has enough money to get it back;
27 Then let him take into account the years from the time when he gave it up, and make up the loss for the rest of the years to him who took it, and so get back his property.
28 But if he is not able to get it back for himself, then it will be kept by him who gave a price for it, till the year of Jubilee; and in that year it will go back to its first owner and he will have his property again.
29 And if a man gives his house in a walled town for money, he has the right to get it back for the space of a full year after he has given it up.
30 And if he does not get it back by the end of the year, then the house in the town will become the property of him who gave the money for it, and of his children for ever; it will not go from him in the year of Jubilee.
31 But houses in small unwalled towns will be the same as property in the country; they may be got back, and they will go back to their owners in the year of Jubilee.
32 But the houses in the towns of the Levites may be got back by the Levites at any time.
33 And if a Levite does not give money to get back his property, his house in the town which was exchanged for money will come back to him in the year of Jubilee. For the houses of the towns of the Levites are their property among the children of Israel.
34 But the land on the outskirts of their towns may not be exchanged for money, for it is their property for ever.
35 And if your brother becomes poor and is not able to make a living, then you are to keep him with you, helping him as you would a man from another country who is living among you.
36 Take no interest from him, in money or in goods, but have the fear of your God before you, and let your brother make a living among you.
37 Do not take interest on the money which you let him have or on the food which you give him.
38 I am the Lord your God, who took you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, that I might be your God.
39 And if your brother becomes poor and gives himself to you for money, do not make use of him like a servant who is your property;
40 But let him be with you as a servant working for payment, till the year of Jubilee;
41 Then he will go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his family and to the property of his fathers.
42 For they are my servants whom I took out from the land of Egypt; they may not become the property of another.
43 Do not be a hard master to him, but have the fear of God before you.
44 But you may get servants as property from among the nations round about; from them you may take men-servants and women-servants.
45 And in addition, you may get, for money, servants from among the children of other nations who are living with you, and from their families which have come to birth in your land; and these will be your property.
46 And they will be your children's heritage after you, to keep as their property; they will be your servants for ever; but you may not be hard masters to your countrymen, the children of Israel.
47 And if one from another nation living among you gets wealth, and your countryman, at his side, becomes poor and gives himself for money to the man from another nation or to one of his family;
48 After he has given himself he has the right to be made free, for a price, by one of his brothers,
49 Or his father's brother, or the son of his father's brother, or any near relation; or if he gets money, he may make himself free.
50 And let the years be numbered from the time when he gave himself to his owner till the year of Jubilee, and the price given for him will be in relation to the number of years, on the scale of the payment of a servant.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Darby Translation

18 And ye shall do my statutes, and observe mine ordinances and do them: thus shall ye dwell in your land securely.
19 And the land shall yield its fruit, and ye shall eat and be satisfied, and dwell therein securely.
20 And if ye say, What shall we eat in the seventh year? behold, we may not sow, nor gather in our produce;
21 then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, that it may bring forth produce for three years;
22 and ye shall sow in the eighth year, and ye shall eat of the old fruit until the ninth year; until her produce come in, ye shall eat the old.
23 And the land shall not be sold for ever; for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.
24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25 If thy brother grow poor, and sell of his possession, then shall his redeemer, his nearest relation, come and redeem that which his brother sold.
26 And if the man have no one having right of redemption, and his hand have acquired and found what sufficeth for its redemption,
27 then shall he reckon the years since the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; and so return unto his possession.
28 And if his hand have not found what sufficeth for him to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of the purchaser, until the year of jubilee; and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
29 And if any one sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he shall have the right of redemption up to the end of the year of the sale thereof; for a full year shall he have the right of redemption.
30 But if it be not redeemed until a whole year is complete, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubilee.
31 But the houses in villages that have no wall round about them shall be reckoned as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.
32 But as to the cities of the Levites, the houses in the cities of their possession, the Levites shall have a perpetual right of redemption.
33 And if any one redeem from one of the Levites, then the house that was sold, in the city of his possession, shall go out in the jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
34 And the field of the suburbs of their cities shall not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.
35 And if thy brother grow poor, and he be fallen into decay beside thee, then thou shalt relieve him, be he stranger or sojourner, that he may live beside thee.
36 Thou shalt take no usury nor increase of him; and thou shalt fear thy God; that thy brother may live beside thee.
37 Thy money shalt thou not give him upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.
38 I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, to be your God.
39 And if thy brother grow poor beside thee, and be sold unto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:
40 as a hired servant, as a sojourner, shall he be with thee; until the year of jubilee shall he serve thee.
41 Then shall he depart from thee, he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
42 For they are my bondmen, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as men sell bondmen.
43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; and thou shalt fear thy God.
44 And as for thy bondman and thy handmaid whom thou shalt have — of the nations that are round about you, of them shall ye buy bondmen and handmaids.
45 Moreover of the children of them that dwell as sojourners with you, of them may ye buy, and of their family that is with you, which they beget in your land, and they shall be your possession.
46 And ye shall leave them as an inheritance to your children after you, to inherit them as a possession: these may ye make your bondmen for ever; but as for your brethren, the children of Israel, ye shall not rule over one another with rigour.
47 And if a stranger or sojourner become wealthy beside thee, and thy brother beside him grow poor, and sell himself unto the stranger, who is settled by thee, or to a scion of the stranger's family,
48 after that he is sold there shall be right of redemption for him; one of his brethren may redeem him.
49 Either his uncle or his uncle's son may redeem him, or one of his next relations of his family may redeem him; or if his means be sufficient, he may redeem himself.
50 And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubilee; and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of the years, according to the days of a hired servant shall he be with him.
Leviticus 25 in Darby Translation

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Douay-Rheims 1899

18 Do my precepts, and keep my judgments, and fulfill them: that you may dwell in the land without any fear,
19 And the ground may yield you its fruits, of which you may eat your fill, fearing no mall’s invasion.
20 But if you say: What shall we eat the seventh year, if we sow not, nor gather our fruits?
21 I will give you my blessing the sixth year, and it shall yield the fruits of three years:
22 And the eighth year you shall sow, and shall eat of the old fruits, until the ninth year: till new grow up, you shall eat the old store.
23 The land also shall not be sold for ever: because it is mine, and you are strangers and sojourners with me.
24 For which cause all the country of your possession shall be under the condition of redemption.
25 If thy brother being impoverished sell his little possession, and his kinsman will, he may redeem what he had sold.
26 But if he have no kinsman, and he himself can find the price to redeem it:
27 The value of the fruits shall be counted from that time when he sold it: and the overplus he shall restore to the buyer, and so shall receive his possession again.
28 But if his hands find not the means to repay the price, the buyer shall have what he bought, until the year of the jubilee. For in that year all that is sold shall return to the owner, and to the ancient possessor.
29 He that selleth a house within the walls of a city, shall have the liberty to redeem it, until one year be expired:
30 If he redeem it not, and the whole year be fully out, the buyer shall possess it, and his posterity for ever, and it cannot be redeemed, not even in the jubilee.
31 But if the house be in a village, that hath no walls, it shall be sold according to the same law as the fields: if it be not redeemed before, in the jubilee it shall return to the owner.
32 The houses of Levites, which are in cities, may always be redeemed:
33 If they be not redeemed, in the jubilee they shall all return to the owners, because the houses of the cities of the Levites are for their possessions among the children of Israel.
34 But let not their suburbs be sold, because it is a perpetual possession.
35 If thy brother be impoverished, and weak of hand, and thou receive him as a stranger and sojourner, and he live with thee,
36 Take not usury of him nor more than thou gavest: fear thy God, that thy brother may live with thee.
37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor exact of him any increase of fruits.
38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that I might give you the land of Chanaan, and might be your God.
39 If thy brother constrained by poverty, sell himself to thee, thou shalt not oppress him with the service of bondservants:
40 But he shall be as a hireling, and a sojourner: he shall work with thee until the year of the jubilee,
41 And afterwards he shall go out with his children, and shall return to his kindred and to the possession of his fathers,
42 For they are my servants, and I brought them out of the land of Egypt: let them not be sold as bondmen:
43 Afflict him not by might, but fear thy God.
44 Let your bondmen, and your bondwomen, be of the nations that are round about you.
45 And of the strangers that sojourn among you, or that were born of them in your land, these you shall have for servants:
46 And by right of inheritance shall leave them to your posterity, and shall possess them for ever. But oppress not your brethren the children of Israel by might.
47 If the hand of a stranger or a sojourner grow strong among you, and thy brother being impoverished sell himself to him, or to any of his race:
48 After the sale he may be redeemed. He that will of his brethren shall redeem him:
49 Either his uncle, or his uncle’s son, or his kinsman, by blood, or by affinity. But if he himself be able also, he shall redeem himself,
50 Counting only the years from the time of his selling unto the year of the jubilee: and counting the money that he was sold for, according to the number of the years and the reckoning of a hired servant,

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Free Bible Version

18 Keep my rules and observe my regulations, so you can live in safety in the land.
19 Then the land will produce good harvest, so you will have plenty to eat and live in safety there.
20 But if you ask, ‘What are we going to in the seventh year if we do not sow or harvest our crops?’
21 I will bless you in the sixth year, so that the land will produce a crop that will be enough for three years.
22 As you sow in the eighth year, you will still be eating from that harvest, which will last until your harvest in the ninth year.
23 Land must not be permanently sold, because it really belongs to me. To me you are only foreigners and travelers passing through.
24 So whatever land you buy to own, you must make arrangements so it can be returned to its original owner.
25 If one of your people becomes poor and sells you some of their land, their close family can come and buy back what they have sold.
26 However, if they don't have anyone who can buy it back, but in the meantime their financial situation improves and they have enough to buy back the land,
27 they will work how many years it has been since the sale, and pay back the balance to the person who bought it, and go back to their property
28 If they can't raise enough to pay the person back for the land, the buyer will remain its owner until the Jubilee Year. But in the Jubilee the land will be returned so that the original owner can so that they can go back to their property.
29 If someone sells a house located in a walled town, they have the right to buy it back for a full year after selling it. It can be bought back any time during that year.
30 If it isn't bought back be the end of a full year, then ownership of the house in the walled town is permanently transferred to the one who bought it and their descendants. It won't be returned in the Jubilee.
31 But houses in villages that don't have walls around them are to be treated as located in the fields. They can be bought back, and will be returned in the Jubilee.
32 However, the Levites always have the right to buy back their houses in the towns that belong to them.
33 Whatever the Levites own can be bought back, even houses sold in their towns, and must be returned in the Jubilee. That's because the houses in the towns of the Levites are what they were given to own as their share among the Israelites.
34 However, the fields surrounding their towns must not be sold because they belong to the Levites permanently.
35 If any of your people become poor and can't survive, you must help them in the same way you would help a foreigner or a stranger, so that they can go on living in your neighborhood.
36 Don't make them pay you any interest or demand more than they borrowed, but respect your God so that they can remain living in your area.
37 Don't lend them silver with interest or sell them food at an inflated price.
38 Remember, I am the Lord your God who led you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.
39 If any of your people become poor and have to sell themselves to work for you, don't force them to work as a slave.
40 Have them live with you like a paid worker who is staying with you for a while. They are to work for you until the Jubilee Year.
41 Then they and their children must be freed, and they can go back to their family and to their family's property.
42 Israelites are not to be sold as slaves because they belong to me as my slaves—I led them out of Egypt.
43 Don't treat them with brutality. Have respect for your God.
44 Buy your male and female slaves from the surrounding nations.
45 You can also buy them from foreigners who have come to live among you, or from their descendants born in your land. You can treat them as your property.
46 You can pass them on to your children to inherit as property after you die. You can make them slaves for life, but you must not brutally treat any of your own people, the Israelites, as a slave.
47 If a foreigner among you becomes successful, and one of your people living nearby becomes poor and sells themselves to the foreigner or to a member of the foreigner's family,
48 they still have the right of being bought back after the sale. A member of their family can buy them back—
49 an uncle or cousin or any close relative from their family can buy them back. If they become successful, they can buy themselves back.
50 The person concerned and their buyer will work out the time from the year of the sale up to the Jubilee Year. The price will depend on the number of years, calculated using the daily rate for a paid worker.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Geneva Bible 1599

18 Wherefore ye shall obey mine ordinances, and keepe my lawes, and do them, and ye shall dwell in the land in safetie.
19 And the lande shall giue her fruite, and ye shall eate your fill, and dwell therein in safetie.
20 And if ye shall say, What shall we eate the seuenth yeere, for we shall not sowe, nor gather in our increase?
21 I will sende my blessing vpon you in the sixt yeere, and it shall bring foorth fruite for three yeeres.
22 And ye shall sowe the eight yeere, and eate of the olde fruite vntill the ninth yeere: vntill the fruite thereof come, ye shall eate the olde.
23 Also the lande shall not be solde to be cut off from the familie: for the land is mine, and ye be but strangers and soiourners with me.
24 Therefore in all the land of your possession ye shall graunt a redemption for the lande.
25 If thy brother be impouerished, and sell his possession, then his redeemer shall come, euen his neere kinsman, and bye out that which his brother solde.
26 And if he haue no redeemer, but hath gotten and founde to bye it out,
27 Then shall he count the yeeres of his sale, and restore the ouerplus to the man, to whome he solde it: so shall he returne to his possession.
28 But if he can not get sufficient to restore to him, then that which is solde, shall remaine in the hande of him that hath bought it, vntill the yere of the Iubile: and in the Iubile it shall come out, and he shall returne vnto his possession.
29 Likewise if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled citie, he may bye it out againe within a whole yeere after it is solde: within a yeere may he bye it out.
30 But if it be not bought out within ye space of a ful yeere, then the house that is in the walled citie, shalbe stablished, as cut off from the familie, to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not goe out in the Iubile.
31 But the houses of villages, which haue no walles round about them, shalbe esteemed as the fielde of the countrey: they may be bought out againe, and shall goe out in the Iubile.
32 Notwithstanding, the cities of the Leuites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Leuites redeeme at all seasons.
33 And if a man purchase of the Leuites, the house that was solde, and the citie of their possession shall goe out in the Iubile: for the houses of the cities of the Leuites are their possession among the children of Israel.
34 But the fielde of the suburbes of their cities, shall not be solde: for it is their perpetuall possession.
35 Moreouer, if thy brother be impouerished, and fallen in decay with thee, thou shalt relieue him, and as a stranger and soiourner, so shall he liue with thee.
36 Thou shalt take no vsurie of him, nor vantage, but thou shalt feare thy God, that thy brother may liue with thee.
37 Thou shalt not giue him thy money to vsurie, nor lende him thy vitailes for increase.
38 I am the Lord your God, which haue brought you out of the lande of Egypt, to giue you the lande of Canaan, and to be your God.
39 If thy brother also that dwelleth by thee, be impouerished, and be sold vnto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serue as a bond seruant,
40 But as an hired seruant, and as a soiourner he shalbe with thee: he shall serue thee vnto the yeere of the Iubile.
41 Then shall he depart from thee, both hee, and his children with him, and shall returne vnto his familie, and vnto the possession of his fathers shall he returne:
42 For they are my seruants, whom I brought out of the lande of Egypt: they shall not be solde as bondmen are solde.
43 Thou shalt not rule ouer him cruelly, but shalt feare thy God.
44 Thy bond seruant also, and thy bond maid, which thou shalt haue, shalbe of the heathen that are rounde about you: of them shall ye bye seruants and maydes.
45 And moreouer of the children of the stragers, that are soiourners among you, of them shall ye bye, and of their families that are with you, which they begate in your lande: these shall be your possession.
46 So ye shall take them as inheritance for your children after you, to possesse them by inheritance, ye shall vse their labours for euer: but ouer your brethren the children of Israel ye shall not rule one ouer another with crueltie.
47 If a soiourner or a stranger dwelling by thee get riches, and thy brother by him be impouerished, and sell him selfe vnto the stranger or soiourner dwelling by thee, or to the stocke of the strangers familie,
48 After that he is solde, he may be bought out: one of his brethren may bye him out,
49 Or his vncle, or his vncles sonne may bye him out, or any of the kindred of his flesh among his familie, may redeeme him: either if he can get so much, he may bye him selfe out.
50 Then he shall recken with his byer from the yeere that he was solde to him, vnto the yere of Iubile: and the money of his sale shalbe according to the number of yeeres: according to the time of an hyred seruant shall he be with him.

18 And ye shall do my statutes, and my ordinances shall ye keep and do them; and then shall ye dwell in the land in safety.

24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25 If thy brother become poor, and sell away some of his possession: then may his nearest of kin come and redeem what his brother hath sold.
26 And if the man have none to redeem it, and he acquire the means, sufficient to be able to redeem it himself:
27 Then let him reckon the years since his sale, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; and so shall he return unto his possession.
28 But if his means do not suffice to enable him to restore it to him: then shall that which he hath sold remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of the jubilee; and it shall be freed in the jubilee, and he shall return unto his possession.
29 And if a man sell a dwelling-house in a walled city: then shall the time of redemption last till the end of the year of his sale; a full year shall his time of redemption last.
30 And if it be not redeemed within the expiration of a full year: then shall the house which is in the walled city remain as a permanence to him that bought it throughout his generations; it shall not become freed in the jubilee.
31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they shall have the right of redemption, and they shall become freed in the jubilee.
32 And respecting the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, a perpetual right of redemption shall belong to the Levites.
33 And if a man of the Levites redeem something: then shall the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, become freed in the jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
34 And a field of the suburbs of their cities shall not be sold; for a perpetual possession is it unto them.
35 And if thy brother become poor, and fall in decay with thee: then shalt thou assist him, yea a stranger, or a sojourner, that he may live with thee.

46 And ye may transfer them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; you may hold them to service for ever; but over your brethren the children of Israel, one over the other, ye shall not rule with rigor.
47 And if a stranger or sojourner wax rich near thee, and thy brother become poor near him, and he sell himself unto the sojourning stranger near thee, or to a descendant of a stranger's family:
48 After he hath sold himself shall he have the right of redemption; one of his brethren may redeem him.
49 Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any that is near of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he obtain the means, he may redeem himself.
50 And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he sold himself to him unto the year of the jubilee: and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of years, as the time of a hired laborer shall he have been with him.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Updated Brenton English Septuagint

18 And ye shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgments; and do ye observe them, and ye shall keep them, and dwell securely in the land.
19 And the land shall yield her increase, and ye shall eat to fullness, and shall dwell securely in it.
26 And if one have no near kinsman, and he prosper with his hand, and he find sufficient money, even his ransom;
29 And if anyone should sell an inhabited house in a walled city, then there shall be the ransom of it, until the time is fulfilled: its time of ransom shall be a full year.
33 And if anyone shall redeem a house of the Levites, then shall their sale of the houses of their possession go out in the release; because the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession in the midst of the children of Israel.
38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, so as to be your God.
42 Because these are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; such a one shall not be sold as a common servant.
43 Thou shalt not oppress him with labor, and shalt fear the Lord thy God.
44 And whatever number of menservants and maidservants thou shalt have, thou shalt purchase male and female servants from the nations that are round about thee.
45 And of the sons of the sojourners that are among you, of these ye shall buy and of their relations, all that shall be in your lands; let them be to you for a possession.
46 And ye shall distribute them to your children after you, and they shall be to you permanent possessions forever: but of your brethren the children of Israel, one shall not oppress his brother in labors.
47 And if a stranger or sojourner with thee wax rich, and thy brother in distress be sold to the stranger or the sojourner that is with thee, or to a proselyte by extraction;
48 after he is sold to him there shall be redemption for him, one of his brethren shall redeem him.
49 A brother of his father, or son of his father’s brother shall redeem him; or let one of his near kin of his tribe redeem him, and if he should be rich and redeem himself,
50 then shall he calculate with his purchaser from the year that he sold himself to him until the year of release: and the money of his purchase shall be as that of a hireling, he shall be with him from year to year.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Targum Onkelos Etheridge

18 And you shall perform My statutes, and keep My judgments, and do them, and dwell in the land in security.
19 And the land shall yield her fruitage, and you shall eat unto the full, and dwell upon it in security.
20 And if you say, What shall we eat in the seventh year; behold, we are not to sow, nor to gather in our fruit?
21 I will command My benediction upon you in the sixth year, and it shall produce for three years.
22 And you shall sow in the eighth year, and eat of the old produce unto the ninth year: until the fruit come in, you shall eat of the old.
23 But you may not sell the ground absolutely: for the land is Mine, for you are guests and sojourners before Me;
24 And in all the land of your inheritance you shall let the ground have redemption.
25 When thy brother hath become poor, and shall have sold his possession, his redeemer who is of kin to him may come and release that which his kinsman has sold.
26 And if he have no one to release it, and it pertaineth to his hand to find sufficient means for its redemption;
27 Then let him reckon the years of its sale, and restore the full amount to the man who bought it, that he may return to his possession.
28 But if his hand find not sufficiency to give him, the (property) sold shall be in the hand of the buyer until the year of Jubilee, and shall go out in the Jubilee, and return to his possession.
29 And if a man sell a dwelling house in a town surrounded with a wall, he may redeem it within the full year of the sale of it; within that time shall be its redemption.
30 But if it be not repurchased when the whole year is completed, the house that is in the walled town shall belong absolutely to him who bought it for his generations; it shall not go out at the Jubilee.
31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be accounted as the field of the land; they may be redeemed, or shall go out at the Jubilee.
32 And the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their inheritance, may be always redeemed by the Levites (or, be a perpetual redemption for the Levites).
33 And (so of him) who purchaseth of the Levites, the purchased house in the city of their possession shall go out at the Jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their inheritance among the sons of Israel.
34 But a field in the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is an everlasting possession for them.
35 And if thy brother hath become poor, and his band waver with thee, then thou shalt strengthen him, and he shall be a guest and a sojourner with thee.
36 Thou shalt not take from him any usuries, nor interest (increase), but shalt fear thy God, and let thy brother live with thee.
37 Thou shalt not give him thy money for usury, nor thy food for increase.
38 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the land of Mizraim, to give you the land of Kenaan, and to be your God.
39 And if thy brother hath become poor with thee, and hath sold himself to thee, thou shalt not make him do the works of slaves,
40 But as a hired man and an inmate shall he be with thee; until the year of Jubilee shall he serve with thee:
41 Then shall he go out from being with thee, he and his children with him, and return to his family and to the inheritance of his fathers.
42 For they are My servants, whom I brought out from the land of Mizraim; they shall not be sold as the selling of bondmen.
43 Thou shalt not make him serve with rigour, but shalt fear thy God.
44 Thy bondmen and thy handmaids thou shalt have from the Gentiles who are about thee; from them thou mayest obtain bondmen and handmaids.
45 And also from the sons of the uncircumcised strangers who sojourn with you, of them and of their children who are with you which are born in the land, you may obtain a possession,
46 And may make them an inheritance for your children after you to inherit them for a possession to serve them perpetually; but among your brethren the sons of Israel no man shall make his brother labour with hardness.
47 And if the hand of an uncircumcised sojourner with thee wax strong, and thy brother with thee become poor and sell himself to the uncircumcised sojourner with thee, or to an Aramite of the race of the stranger,
48 after that he is sold he may have redemption; one of his brethren may redeem him.
49 Either his father’s brother, or the son of his father’s brother, may redeem him; or anyone of kin to the flesh of his family may redeem him; or if his hand be able, he may redeem himself.
50 And he shall reckon with his purchaser from the year that he sold himself, unto the year of Jubilee, and the money of his payment shall be according to the number of the years, according to the days of an hireling shall it be with him.

37 You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Unlocked Literal Bible

18 Therefore you must obey my decrees, keep my laws, and carry them out. Then you will live in the land in safety.
19 The land will yield its produce, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety.
20 You might say, “What will we eat during the seventh year? Look, we cannot plant or gather our produce.”
21 I will command my blessing to come upon you in the sixth year, and it will produce harvest enough for three years.
22 You will plant in the eighth year and continue to eat from the previous years' produce and the stored food. Until the harvest of the ninth year comes in, you will be able to eat from the provisions stored in the previous years.
23 The land must not be sold to a new permanent owner, because the land is mine. You are all foreigners and temporary residents on my land.
24 You must observe the right of redemption for all the land that you acquire; you must allow the land to be bought back by the family from whom you bought it.
25 If your fellow Israelite became poor and for that reason sold some of his property, then his nearest relative may come and buy back the property that he sold to you.
26 If a man has no relative to redeem his property, but if he has prospered and has the ability to redeem it,
27 then he may calculate the years since the land was sold and repay the balance to the man to whom he sold it. Then he may return to his own property.
28 But if he is not able to get the land back for himself, then the land he has sold will remain in the ownership of the one who bought it until the year of Jubilee. At the year of Jubilee, the land will be returned to the man who sold it, and the original owner will return to his property.
29 If a man sells a house in a walled city, then he may buy it back within a whole year after it was sold. For a full year he will have the right of redemption.
30 If the house is not redeemed within a full year, then the house in the walled city will become the permanent property of the buyer and his descendants. It is not to be returned in the year of Jubilee.
31 But the houses of the villages that have no wall around them will be considered as the field of the land. They may be redeemed, and they must be returned during the year of Jubilee.
32 However, the houses owned by the Levites in their cities may be redeemed at any time.
33 If one of the Levites does not redeem a house he sold, then the house that was sold in the city where it is located must be returned in the year of Jubilee, for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their property among the people of Israel.
34 But the fields around their cities may not be sold because they are the permanent property of the Levites.
35 If your fellow countryman becomes poor, so that he can no longer provide for himself, then you must help him as you would help a foreigner or anyone else living as an outsider among you.
36 Do not charge him interest or try to profit from him in any way, but honor your God so that your brother may keep living with you.
37 You must not give him a loan of money and charge interest, nor sell him your food to earn a profit.
38 I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, in order that I might give you the land of Canaan, and that I might be your God.
39 If your fellow countryman has become poor and sells himself to you, you must not make him work like a slave.
40 Treat him as a hired servant. He must be like someone living temporarily with you. He will serve with you until the year of Jubilee.
41 Then he will go away from you, he and his children with him, and he will return to his own family and to his fathers' property.
42 For they are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. They will not be sold as slaves.
43 You must not rule over them harshly, but you must honor your God.
44 As for your male and female slaves, whom you can obtain from the nations who live around you, you may buy slaves from them.
45 You may also buy slaves from the foreigners who are living among you, that is, from their families who are with you, children who have been born in your land. They may become your property.
46 You may provide such slaves as an inheritance for your children after you, to hold as property, and make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your brothers among the people of Israel with harshness.
47 If a foreigner or someone living temporarily with you has become wealthy, and if one of your fellow Israelites has become poor and sells himself to that foreigner, or to someone in a foreigner's family,
48 after your fellow Israelite has been bought, he may be bought back. Someone in his family may redeem him.
49 It might be the person's uncle, or his uncle's son, who redeems him, or anyone who is his close relative from his family. Or, if he has become prosperous, he may redeem himself.
50 He must bargain with the man who bought him; they must count the years from the year he sold himself to his purchaser until the year of Jubilee. The price of his redemption must be figured in keeping with the rate paid to a hired servant, for the number of years he might continue to work for the one who bought him.

20 And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow nor gather in our increase:

24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.
25 If thy brother shall have become poor, and have sold some of his possession, and if any of his kin shall come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.
26 And if the man shall have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it;
27 Then let him count the years of the sale of it, and restore the overplus to the man to whom he sold it; that he may return to his possession.
28 But if he shall not be able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee: and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return to his possession.
29 And if a man shall sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold: within a full year may he redeem it.
30 And if it shall not be redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubilee,
31 But the houses of the villages which have no walls around them, shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.
32 Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.
33 And if a man shall purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession shall go out in the year of jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
34 But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetual possession.
35 And if thy brother shall have become poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he may be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.
36 Take thou no interest of him, or increase; but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.
37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon interest, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.
38 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.
39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee shall have become poor, and be sold to thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bond servant:
40 But as a hired servant, and as a sojourner he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee to the year of jubilee.
41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return to his own family, and to the possession of his fathers shall he return.
42 For they are my servants, which I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as bond-men.
43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigor, but shalt fear thy God.
44 Both thy bond-men, and thy bond-maids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are around you; of them shall ye buy bond-men and bond-maids.
45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession, they shall be your bond-men for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigor.
47 And if a sojourner or a stranger shall become rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him shall become poor, and sell himself to the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family:
48 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him:
49 Either his uncle, or his uncle's son may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin to him of his family, may redeem him; or if he is able, he may redeem himself.
50 And he shall reckon with him that bought him, from the year that he was sold to him, to the year of jubilee: and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of years, according to the time of a hired servant shall it be with him.

34 But the field of the pasture lands of their cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetual possession.
38 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.
39 “‘If your brother has grown poor among you, and sells himself to you, you shall not make him to serve as a slave.
47 “‘If an alien or temporary resident with you becomes rich, and your brother beside him has grown poor, and sells himself to the stranger or foreigner living among you, or to a member of the stranger’s family,
48 after he is sold he may be redeemed. One of his brothers may redeem him;
49 or his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or any who is a close relative to him of his family may redeem him; or if he has grown rich, he may redeem himself.
50 He shall reckon with him who bought him from the year that he sold himself to him to the Year of Jubilee. The price of his sale shall be according to the number of years; he shall be with him according to the time of a hired servant.

18 Do ye my behests, and keep ye my dooms, and fulfill ye those, that ye may dwell in this land without any dread,
19 and that the earth bring forth his fruits to you, which ye shall eat till to fullness, and dread not the assailing of any man.
20 That if ye say, What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we sow not, neither gather our fruits?
21 I shall give my blessing to you in the sixth year, and it shall make the fruits of three years;
22 and ye shall sow in the eighth year, and ye shall eat eld or old fruits till to the ninth year; till new things come forth, ye shall eat the eld or old things.
23 Also the land shall not be sold into without end, for it is mine, and ye be my comelings, and my tenants;
24 wherefore all the country of your possession shall be sold under the condition of again-buying.
25 If thy brother is made poor, and selleth his little possession, and his nigh kinsmen will, he may again-buy that that he sold;
26 soothly if he hath no nigh kinsman, and he may find the price to again-buy,
27 the fruits shall be reckoned from that time in which he sold it, and he shall yield that that is left to the buyer, and he shall receive so his possession again.
28 That if his hand findeth not, that he yield the price, the buyer shall have that that he bought, till to the year of jubilee; for in that year each selling shall go again to the lord, and to the first wielder.
29 He that selleth his house, within the walls of a city, shall have license to again-buy, till one year be full-filled;
30 if he again-buyeth not, and the circle of the year is passed, the buyer shall wield it, and his heirs into without end, and it shall not be able to be again-bought, yea, in the jubilee.
31 Forsooth if the house is in a town that hath not walls, it shall be sold by the law of the fields; soothly if it is not again-bought in the jubilee, it shall turn again to the lord thereof.
32 The houses of the deacons or Levites, that be in the cities, may evermore be again-bought;
33 if those or they be not again-bought, those or they shall turn again in the jubilee to the lords; for the houses of the cities of deacons or Levites be for possessions among the sons of Israel;
34 forsooth the suburbs of them shall not be sold, for it is everlasting possession.
35 If thy brother is made poor, and feeble in power, and thou receivest him as a comeling, and a pilgrim, and he liveth with thee,
36 take thou not usuries of him, neither more than thou hast given; dread thou thy God, that thy brother may live with thee.
37 Thou shalt not give to him thy money to usury, and thou shalt not ask over that that thou lendest, increases of fruits;
38 I am your Lord God, that led you out of the land of Egypt, that I should give to you the land of Canaan, and that I should be your God.
39 If thy brother compelled by poverty selleth himself to thee, thou shalt not oppress him by servage of servants,
40 but he shall be as an hired man and a tenant; till to the year of jubilee he shall work with thee,
41 and afterward he shall go out with his free children, and he shall turn again to his kindred, and to the possession of his fathers.
42 For they be my servants, and I led them out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold by the condition of servants;
43 torment thou not them by thy power, but dread thou thy Lord.
44 A servant and handmaid be to you of the nations that be in your compass, and of the comelings the which be pilgrims with you,
45 either they that be born of comelings in your land; ye shall have these servants, and by right of heritage ye shall leave them to your after-comers, and ye shall wield them without end;
46 soothly oppress ye not by power your brethren, the sons of Israel.
47 If the hand of a comeling or of a pilgrim waxeth strong at you, and thy brother is made poor, and selleth himself to that comeling, either to any of his kin,
48 he may be again-bought after the selling; he that will of his brethren, again-buy him;
49 both his father’s brother, and the son of his father’s brother, and his kins-man, and his ally. Else if also he shall be able, he shall again-buy himself,
50 while the years be reckoned only from the time of his selling till into the year of jubilee; and while the money, for which he was sold, is reckoned by the number of years, and while the hire of an hired man is reckoned.

18 Do ye my behests, and keep ye my dooms, and fulfill ye those, that ye may dwell in (t)his land without any dread, (Do ye my commands, and obey ye my judgements, and fulfill ye them, so that ye shall live in this land without any fear,)
19 and that the earth bring forth his fruits to you (or and so that the land shall bring forth its harvest for you), which ye shall eat till to fullness, and dread not the assailing of any man.
20 That if ye say (or And if ye say to me), What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we sow not, neither gather (in) our fruits?
21 (For an answer), I shall give my blessing to you in the sixth year, and it shall make the fruits of three years;
22 and ye shall sow in the eighth year, and ye shall eat eld fruits till to the ninth year; (yea), till new things come forth, ye shall eat the eld things.

24 wherefore all the country of your possession shall be sold under the condition of again-buying. (and so all the land of your possession shall be sold under the condition of being able to buy it back.)
25 If thy brother is made poor, and selleth his little possession, and his nigh kinsmen will, he may again-buy that that he sold (or he can buy back what he hath sold);

29 He that selleth his house, within the walls of a city, shall have license to again-buy (it), till one year be full-filled; (He who selleth his house, within the walls of a city, shall have license to buy it back, until one year is fulfilled;)

32 The houses of the deacons, that be in the cities, may evermore be again-bought; (But the houses of the Levites, that be in the cities, can be bought back forevermore;)
33 if those be not again-bought, those shall turn again in the jubilee to the lords (thereof); for the houses of the cities of deacons be for (their) possessions (forevermore) among the sons of Israel; (and even if they be not bought back, they shall still return to their original owners in the Jubilee Year; for the houses in the Levite cities shall be their possessions among the Israelites forevermore;)
34 forsooth the suburbs of them shall not be sold, for it is (their) everlasting possession.
35 If thy brother is made poor, and feeble in power, and thou receivest him as a comeling, and a pilgrim, (or and thou receivest him like a newcomer, or like a foreigner), and he liveth with thee,

37 Thou shalt not give to him thy money (in)to usury (or Thou shalt not charge him interest for thy money), and thou shalt not ask over that that thou lendest, (for) increases of (thy) fruits;
38 I am your Lord God, that led you out of the land of Egypt, that I should give to you the land of Canaan, and that I should be your God. (I am the Lord your God, who led you out of the land of Egypt, so that I could give you the land of Canaan, and so that I would become your God.)
39 If thy brother compelled by poverty selleth himself to thee, thou shalt not oppress him by servage of servants (or thou shalt not make him thy slave),

46 soothly oppress ye not by power your brethren, the sons of Israel. (but with your power, do not ye oppress your own brothers, the Israelites.)
47 If the hand of a comeling or of a pilgrim waxeth strong at you, and thy brother is made poor, and selleth himself to that comeling, either to any of his kin, (And if a newcomer, or a foreigner who liveth with you, groweth rich, and thy brother is made poor, and selleth himself to that newcomer, or to any of his kin,)
48 he may be again-bought after the selling; he that will of his brethren, again-buy him; (he can be bought back after that he is sold; yea, he of his brothers who will do so, should buy him back;)

Leviticus 25 in Wycliffe Bible

Leviticus 25:18-50 in Young's Literal Translation

18 'And ye have done My statutes, and My judgments ye keep, and have done them, and ye have dwelt on the land confidently,
19 and the land hath given its fruit, and ye have eaten to satiety, and have dwelt confidently on it.
20 'And when ye say, What do we eat in the seventh year, lo, we do not sow, nor gather our increase?
21 then I have commanded My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it hath made the increase for three years;
22 and ye have sown the eighth year, and have eaten of the old increase; until the ninth year, until the coming in of its increase, ye do eat the old.
23 'And the land is not sold — to extinction, for the land is Mine, for sojourners and settlers are ye with Me;
24 and in all the land of your possession a redemption ye do give to the land.
25 'When thy brother becometh poor, and hath sold his possession, then hath his redeemer who is near unto him come, and he hath redeemed the sold thing of his brother;
26 and when a man hath no redeemer, and his own hand hath attained, and he hath found as sufficient for its redemption,
27 then he hath reckoned the years of its sale, and hath given back that which is over to the man to whom he sold it, and he hath returned to his possession.
28 'And if his hand hath not found sufficiency to give back to him, then hath his sold thing been in the hand of him who buyeth it till the year of jubilee; and it hath gone out in the jubilee, and he hath returned to his possession.
29 'And when a man selleth a dwelling-house in a walled city, then hath his right of redemption been until the completion of a year from its selling; days — is his right of redemption;
30 and if it is not redeemed until the fulness to him of a perfect year, then hath the house which is in a walled city been established to extinction to the buyer of it, to his generations; it goeth not out in the jubilee;
31 and a house of the villages which have no wall round about, on the field of the country is reckoned; redemption is to it, and in the jubilee it goeth out.
32 'As to cities of the Levites — houses of the cities of their possession — redemption age-during is to the Levites;
33 as to him who redeemeth from the Levites, both the sale of a house and the city of his possession have gone out in the jubilee, for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession in the midst of the sons of Israel.
34 And a field, a suburb of their cities, is not sold; for a possession age-during it is to them.
35 'And when thy brother is become poor, and his hand hath failed with thee, then thou hast kept hold on him, sojourner and settler, and he hath lived with thee;
36 thou takest no usury from him, or increase; and thou hast been afraid of thy God; and thy brother hath lived with thee;
37 thy money thou givest not to him in usury, and for increase thou givest not thy food;
38 I am Jehovah your God, who hath brought you out of the land of Egypt, to give to you the land of Canaan, to become your God.
39 'And when thy brother becometh poor with thee, and he hath been sold to thee, thou dost not lay on him servile service;
40 as an hireling, as a settler, he is with thee, till the year of the jubilee he doth serve with thee, —
41 then he hath gone out from thee, he and his sons with him, and hath turned back unto his family; even unto the possession of his fathers he doth turn back.
42 'For they are My servants, whom I have brought out from the land of Egypt: they are not sold with the sale of a servant;
43 thou rulest not over him with rigour, and thou hast been afraid of thy God.
44 'And thy man-servant and thy handmaid whom thou hast are of the nations who are round about you; of them ye buy man-servant and handmaid,
45 and also of the sons of the settlers who are sojourning with you, of them ye buy, and of their families who are with you, which they have begotten in your land, and they have been to you for a possession;
46 and ye have taken them for inheritance to your sons after you, to occupy for a possession; to the age ye lay service upon them, but upon your brethren, the sons of Israel, one with another, thou dost not rule over him with rigour.
47 'And when the hand of a sojourner or settler with thee attaineth riches, and thy brother with him hath become poor, and he hath been sold to a sojourner, a settler with thee, or to the root of the family of a sojourner,
48 after he hath been sold, there is a right of redemption to him; one of his brethren doth redeem him,
49 or his uncle, or a son of his uncle, doth redeem him, or any of the relations of his flesh, of his family, doth redeem him, or — his own hand hath attained — then he hath been redeemed.
50 'And he hath reckoned with his buyer from the year of his being sold to him till the year of jubilee, and the money of his sale hath been by the number of years; as the days of an hireling it is with him.
