⁵ They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take a woman that is a harlot, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

⁸ Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee; for I Jehovah, who sanctify you, am holy.

⁹ And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the harlot, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

¹⁰ And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head go loose, nor rend his clothes;

¹¹ neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

¹² neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am Jehovah.

¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

¹⁴ A widow, or one divorced, or a profane woman, a harlot, these shall he not take: but a virgin of his own people shall he take to wife.

¹⁵ And he shall not profane his seed among his people: for I am Jehovah who sanctifieth him.

¹⁶ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

¹⁷ Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed throughout their generations that hath a blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

¹¹ neither shall he go in to any dead body, neither shall he defile himself for his father or his mother.

¹² And he shall not go forth out of the sanctuary, and he shall not profane the sanctuary of his God, because the holy anointing oil of God is upon him: I am the Lord.

¹³ He shall take for a wife a virgin of his own tribe.

¹⁴ But a widow, or one that is put away, or profaned, or a harlot, these he shall not take; but he shall take for a wife a virgin of his own people.

¹⁵ And he shall not profane his seed among his people: I am the Lord that sanctifies him.

⁵ You priests must not shave your heads or shave the edges of your beards or cut your bodies to show that you are mourning for someone who has died.

⁶ You must act in ways that I, your God, consider to be holy, and not disgrace my name/reputation. You are the ones who present to me the offerings that are burned. It is as though those offerings are food for me, your God; so you must act in ways that are holy.

⁷ You priests must not marry women who have been prostitutes or who have been divorced from their husbands, because you priests are ◄set apart for me/holy►.

⁸ You must consider that you are holy, because you offer food to me, your God. Consider yourselves to be holy because I, Yahweh, the one who caused you to be priests and the one who enables you to be holy, am holy.

⁹ If a priest's daughter disgraces herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; and she must be killed by being burned in a fire.

¹⁰ The Supreme Priest is the one among his relatives who has been appointed for that work by having his head anointed with olive oil. He is also the one who has been appointed to wear the special garments that priests wear. He must not allow the hair on his head to remain uncombed, and he must not tear his clothes when he is mourning for someone.

¹¹ He must not enter some place where there is a corpse. He must not do that and cause himself to become unfit for his work, even if it is his father or his mother who has died.

¹² He must not leave the Sacred Tent to join those who are mourning, because he would cause himself to become unfit for his work and would also defile/desecrate the Sacred Tent. He must not leave the Sacred Tent at that time, because by being anointed with olive oil he has been ◄appointed/set apart► to serve his God in the Sacred Tent. I, Yahweh, am the one who am commanding this.

¹³ Women whom you priests marry must be virgins.

¹⁴ You priests must not marry widows or prostitutes or divorced women, because if you did that, if you later have sons, they would not be acceptable to be priests among your people. You must marry only virgins from among your own people. I am Yahweh, who sets priests apart to be holy.’”

¹⁶ Yahweh also said to Moses/me,

¹⁷ “Say this to Aaron: For all future time, none of your descendants who has any defects on his body will be allowed to come near the altar to offer sacrifices to me which will be like MET my food:

¹⁵ He shall not profane his offspring amongst his people, for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.’”

¹⁶ The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁷ “Say to Aaron, ‘None of your offspring throughout their generations who has a defect may approach to offer the bread of his God.

⁵ They are not to have their hair cut off for the dead, or the hair on their chins cut short, or make cuts in their flesh.

⁶ Let them be holy to their God and not make the name of their God common; for the fire offerings of the Lord and the bread of their God are offered by them, and they are to be holy.

⁷ They may not take as wife a loose or common woman, or one who has been put away by her husband: for the priest is holy to his God.

⁸ And he is to be holy in your eyes, for by him the bread of your God is offered; he is to be holy in your eyes, for I the Lord, who make you holy, am holy.

⁹ And if the daughter of a priest makes herself common and by her loose behaviour puts shame on her father, let her be burned with fire.

¹⁰ And he who is the chief priest among his brothers, on whose head the holy oil has been put, who is marked out to put on the holy robes, may not let his hair go loose or have his clothing out of order as a sign of sorrow.

¹¹ He may not go near any dead body or make himself unclean for his father or his mother;

¹² He may not go out of the holy place or make the holy place of his God common; for the crown of the holy oil of his God is on him: I am the Lord.

¹³ And let him take as his wife one who has not had relations with a man.

¹⁴ A widow, or one whose husband has put her away, or a common woman of loose behaviour, may not be the wife of a priest; but let him take a virgin from among his people.

¹⁵ And he may not make his seed unclean among his people, for I the Lord have made him holy.

¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses,

¹⁷ Say to Aaron, If a man of your family, in any generation, is damaged in body, let him not come near to make the offering of the bread of his God.

⁶ They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they present Jehovah's offerings by fire, the bread of their God; therefore shall they be holy.

⁷ They shall not take as wife a whore, or a dishonoured woman; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy unto his God.

¹² neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am Jehovah.

¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

¹⁴ A widow, or a divorced woman, or a dishonoured one, a harlot, these shall he not take; but he shall take as wife a virgin from among his peoples.

¹⁵ And he shall not profane his seed among his peoples; for I am Jehovah who do hallow him.

¹⁶ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁷ Speak unto Aaron, saying, Any of thy seed throughout their generations that hath any defect, shall not approach to present the bread of his God;

⁵ Neither shall they shave their head, nor their beard, nor make incisions in their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy to their God, and shall not profane his name: for they offer the burnt offering of the Lord, and the bread of their God, and therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take to wife a harlot or a vile prostitute, nor one that has been put away from her husband: because they are consecrated to their God,

⁸ And offer the leaves of proposition. Let them therefore be holy, because I also am holy, the Lord, who sanctify them.

⁹ If the daughter of a priest be taken in whoredom, and dishonour the name of her father, she shall be burnt with fire.

¹⁰ The high priest, that is to say, the priest, is the greatest among his brethren. upon whose head the oil of unction hath been poured, and whose hands have been consecrated for the priesthood, and who hath been vested with the holy vestments, shall not uncover his head, he shall not rend his garments:

¹¹ Nor shall he go in at all to any dead person: not even for his father, or his mother, shall he be defiled:

¹² Neither shall he go out of the holy places, lest he defile the sanctuary of the Lord, because the oil of the holy unction of his God is upon him. I am the Lord.

¹³ He shall take a virgin unto his wife:

¹⁴ But a widow or one that is divorced, or defiled, or a harlot, he shall not take, but a maid of his own people:

¹⁵ He shall not mingle the stock of his kindred with the common people of his nation: for I am the Lord who sanctify him.

¹⁶ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

¹⁷ Say to Aaron: Whosoever of thy seed throughout their families, hath a blemish, he shall not offer bread to his God.

⁵ Priests are not to shave bald spots on their heads, trim the sides of their beards, or cut their bodies.

⁶ They must be holy to their God and not disgrace their God's reputation. They are the one who present the food offerings to the Lord, the food of their God. Consequently they must be holy.

⁷ A priest is not to marry a woman made unclean through prostitution or who is divorced by her husband, for the priest must be holy to his God.

⁸ You shall consider him holy because he presents the food offerings to your God. He shall be holy to you, because I am holy. I am the Lord, and I chose you as my special people.

⁹ A priest's daughter who makes herself unclean through prostitution makes her father unclean. She must be executed by burning.

¹⁰ The high priest has the highest place among the other priests. He has been anointed with olive oil poured on his head and has been ordained to wear the priestly clothing. He must not leave his hair uncombed or tear his clothes.

¹¹ He is not to go near any dead body. He must not make himself unclean, even it is for his own father or mother.

¹² He must not leave to deal with someone who has died or make the sanctuary of his God unclean because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the Lord.

¹³ He can only marry a virgin.

¹⁴ He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or one made unclean through prostitution. He has to marry a virgin from his own people,

¹⁵ so that he doesn't make his children unclean among his people, for I am the Lord who makes him holy.”

¹⁶ The Lord told Moses,

¹⁷ “Tell Aaron: These rules apply for all future generations. If any of your descendants has a physical defect, he is not allowed to come and present the food offerings of his God.

⁵ They shall not make balde partes vpon their head, nor shaue off the locks of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ They shalbe holy vnto their God, and not pollute the name of their God: for the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God they doe offer: therefore they shalbe holie.

⁷ They shall not take to wife an whore, or one polluted, neither shall they marrie a woman diuorced from her husband: for such one is holy vnto his God.

⁸ Thou shalt sanctifie him therefore, for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy vnto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctifie you, am holy.

⁹ If a Priestes daughter fall to play the whore, she polluteth her father: therefore shall she be burnt with fire.

¹⁰ Also ye hie Priest among his brethren, (vpon whose head the anointing oyle was powred, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments) shall not vncouer his head, nor rent his clothes,

¹¹ Neither shall he goe to any dead bodie, nor make him selfe vncleane by his father or by his mother,

¹² Neither shall he goe out of the Sanctuarie, nor pollute the holy place of his God: for the crowne of the anoynting oyle of his God is vpon him: I am the Lord.

¹³ Also he shall take a maide vnto his wife:

¹⁴ But a widowe, or a diuorced woman, or a polluted, or an harlot, these shall he not marrie, but shall take a maide of his owne people to wife:

¹⁵ Neyther shall he defile his seede among his people: for I am the Lord which sanctifie him.

¹⁶ And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

¹⁷ Speake vnto Aaron, and say, Whosoeuer of thy seede in their generations hath any blemishes, shall not prease to offer the bread of his God:

¹¹ neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

¹² neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

¹¹ Neither shall he go in to any dead body; even on his father, and on his mother shall he not defile himself.

¹² And out of the sanctuary shall he not go, that he may not profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.

¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virgin state.

¹⁴ A widow, and a divorced woman, and one profaned, and a harlot, these shall he not take; but a virgin of his own people shall he take for wife;

¹⁵ So that he may not profane his seed among his people; for I, the Lord, do sanctify him.

⁹ And if the daughter of a priest should be profaned to go a-whoring, she profanes the name of her father: she shall be burned with fire.

¹⁰ And the priest that is chief among his brethren, the oil having been poured upon the head of the anointed one, and he having been consecrated to put on the garments, shall not take the miter off his head, and shall not rend his garments:

¹¹ neither shall he go in to any dead body, neither shall he defile himself for his father or his mother.

¹² And he shall not go forth out of the sanctuary, and he shall not profane the sanctuary of his God, because the holy anointing oil of God is upon him: I am the Lord.

¹³ He shall take for a wife a virgin of his own tribe.

¹⁴ But a widow, or one that is put away, or profaned, or a harlot, these he shall not take; but he shall take for a wife a virgin of his own people.

¹⁵ And he shall not profane his seed among his people: I am the Lord that sanctifies him.

¹⁶ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁷ Say to Aaron, A man of thy tribe throughout your generations, who shall have a blemish on him, shall not draw nigh to offer the gifts of his God.

⁵ They shall not make baldness on their heads, nor cut away the hair of their beards, nor scarify their flesh with marks.

⁶ They shall be holy before their God, and shall not profane the Name of their God; for they offer the oblations of the Lord their God, and they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take to wife a woman who is a harlot, or one who is corrupted, nor may they take a woman who hath been put away from her husband; for (the priest is to be) holy before his God.

⁸ Thou shalt consecrate him, for he is to offer the oblation of thy God: he shall be sacred to thee; for I the Lord, who sanctify you, am Holy.

⁹ And if the daughter of a man who is a priest profane herself by becoming an harlot, she hath profaned the sanctity of her father; she shall be burned with fire.

¹⁰ And the (high) priest who hath been consecrated from his brethren, upon whose head hath been poured the oil of consecration, and who, at the offering of his oblation, is arrayed with the (holy) robes, shall not make bare his head, nor rend his garments.

¹¹ Nor shall he enter unto any dead body, nor defile himself for his father or his mother.

¹² And he shall not go out from the sanctuary nor defile the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am the Lord.

¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virginity;

¹⁴ A widow, or a divorced person, or a corrupt harlot, these he shall not take; but a virgin from his people shall he take for a wife.

¹⁵ And his offspring he shall not profane among his people; for I the Lord do sanctify him.

¹⁶ Adonai spoke to Moses Drawn out, saying,

¹⁷ “Say to Aaron Light-bringer, ‘None of your offspring throughout their generations who has a defect may approach to offer the bread of his God.

⁵ Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the corners of their beards, nor cut their bodies.

⁶ They must be holy to their God and not disgrace the name of their God, because the priests offer Yahweh's food offerings, the bread of their God. Therefore the priests must be holy.

⁷ They must not marry any woman who is a prostitute and who is defiled, and they must not marry a woman divorced from her husband, for they are separate for their God.

⁸ You will set him apart, for he is the one who offers bread to your God. He must be holy to you, because I, Yahweh who makes you holy, am holy.

⁹ Any daughter of any priest who defiles herself by becoming a prostitute disgraces her father. She must be burned.

¹⁰ The one who is the high priest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured, and who has been consecrated to wear the special garments of the high priest, must not wear his hair loose or tear his clothes.

¹¹ He must not go anywhere that a dead body is present and defile himself, even for his father or his mother.

¹² The high priest must not leave the sanctuary area of the tabernacle or profane the sanctuary of his God, because he has been consecrated as high priest by the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.

¹³ The high priest must marry a virgin as his wife.

¹⁴ He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or a woman who is a prostitute. He will not marry these kinds of women. He may only marry a virgin from his own people,

¹⁵ so he will not defile his children among his people, for I am Yahweh, who makes him holy.'”

¹⁶ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁷ “Speak to Aaron and tell him, 'Whoever of your descendants throughout their generations has a bodily defect, he must not approach to offer the food to his God.

⁵ “‘They shall not shave their heads or shave off the corners of their beards or make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the name of their God, for they offer the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, the bread of their God. Therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ “‘They shall not marry a woman who is a prostitute, or profane. A priest shall not marry a woman divorced from her husband; for he is holy to his God.

⁹ If the daughter of a priest is taken in defouling of virginity, and defouleth the name of her father, she shall be burnt in fire.

¹⁰ The bishop, that is the most priest among his brethren, upon whose head the oil of anointing is poured, and whose hands be made sacred in priesthood, and he is clothed in holy clothes, shall not discover his head, he shall not tear his clothes,

¹¹ and utterly he shall not enter in to any dead man; and he shall not be defouled on his father, and mother,

¹² neither he shall go out of the holy places, lest he defoul the saintuary of the Lord, for the oil of holy anointing of his God is on him; I am the Lord.

¹³ He shall wed to wife a virgin;

¹⁴ he shall not take a widow, and a forsaken woman, and a foul woman, and whore, but a virgin of his people;

¹⁵ meddle or mingle he not the generation of his kin to the common people of his folk, for I am the Lord, that halloweth him.

¹⁶ And the Lord spake to Moses, and said,

¹⁷ Speak thou to Aaron; a man of thy seed, by meines, that hath a wem, that is, a notable foulness, shall not offer bread to his God,

⁵ Priests shall not shave their head, neither beard, neither they shall make (any) carvings in their fleshes;

⁶ they shall be holy to their God, and they shall not defoul his name; for they offer incense of the Lord, and the loaves of their God, and therefore they shall be holy. (they shall be holy to their God, and they shall not defile his name; for they offer incense to the Lord, and the loaves to their God, and so they shall be holy.)

⁷ A priest shall not wed (for) a wife a corrupt woman, and a foul whore, neither he shall wed her that is forsaken of the husband, for he is hallowed to his God, (A priest shall not wed for a wife any corrupt woman, or a foul whore, nor shall he wed she who is forsaken by her husband, for he is holy to his God,)

⁸ and offereth the loaves of setting forth; therefore be he holy, for I am the holy Lord that halloweth you. (and offereth the loaves of proposition; and so regard him as holy, for I am holy, the Lord who maketh you holy.)

⁹ If the daughter of a priest is taken in defouling of virginity, and defouleth the name of her father, she shall be burnt in fire. (If a priest’s daughter is caught in defiling her own virginity, and so defileth her father’s name, she shall be burned in the fire.)

¹⁰ The bishop, that is the most priest among his brethren, upon whose head the oil of anointing is poured, and whose hands be (made) sacred in priesthood, and he is clothed in holy clothes, shall not discover his head, he shall not tear his clothes, (The High Priest, who is the highest priest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil was poured, who is consecrated in priesthood, and who is clothed in holy clothes, shall not uncover his head, and he shall not tear his clothes,)

¹¹ and utterly he shall not enter in to any dead man; and he shall not be defouled on his father, and mother, (or and he shall not even be defiled for his father, or his mother),

¹² neither he shall go out of the holy places, lest he defoul the saintuary of the Lord, for the oil of holy anointing of his God is on him; I am the Lord. (nor shall he go out of the holy place, lest he defile the Lord’s sanctuary, for the holiness of the anointing oil of his God is upon him; I am the Lord.)

¹³ He shall wed to wife a virgin; (He shall wed a virgin for his wife;)

¹⁴ he shall not take a widow, and a forsaken woman, and a foul woman, and (a) whore, but a virgin of his people; (he shall not wed a widow, or a forsaken woman, or a defiled woman, or a whore, but only a virgin out of his people;)

¹⁵ meddle he not the generation of his kin to the common people of his folk, for I am the Lord, that halloweth him. (and so he shall not mix together, or dishonour, any of the generation of his kin among the common people, for I am the Lord, who maketh him holy.)

¹⁶ And the Lord spake to Moses, and said,

¹⁷ Speak thou to Aaron; a man of thy seed, by families, that hath a wem, that is, a notable foulness, shall not offer bread to his God, (Say thou to Aaron, A man of thy seed, among thy families, who hath a blemish, that is, a notable foulness, shall not offer the bread, or the loaves, to his God,)

⁵ Preestis schulen not schaue the heed, nether beerd, nether thei schulen make keruyngis in her fleischis; thei schulen be hooli to her God,

⁶ and thei schulen not defoule his name; for thei offren encense of the Lord, and the looues of her God, and therfore thei schulen be hooli.

⁷ A preest schal not wedde a wijf a corrupt womman, and a `foul hoore, nether he schal wedde `hir that is forsakun of the hosebonde, for he is halewid to his God,

⁸ and offrith the looues of settyng forth; therfor be he hooly, for `Y am the hooli Lord that halewith you.

⁹ If the `doutir of a preest is takun in defoulyng of virgynite, and defoulith the name of hir fadir, sche schal be brent in flawmes.

¹⁰ The bischop, that is the moost preest among hise britheren, on whose heed the oile of anoyntyng is sched, and whose hondis ben sacrid in preesthod, and he is clothid in hooli clothis, schal not diskyuere his heed, he schal not tere hise clothis,

¹¹ and outirli he schal not entre to ony deed man; and he schal not be defoulid on his fadir and modir,

¹² nether he schal go out of hooli thingis, lest he defoule the seyntuarie of the Lord, for the oile of hooli anoyntyng of his God is on hym; Y am the Lord.

¹³ He schal wedde a wijf virgyn;

¹⁴ he schal not take a widewe, and forsakun, and a foul womman, and hoore, but a damesele of his puple;

¹⁵ medle he not the generacioun of his kyn to the comyn puple of his folk, for Y am the Lord, that `halewe hym.

¹⁷ and seide, Speke thou to Aaron; a man of thi seed, bi meynes, that hath a wem, schal not offre breed to his God,

⁷ 'A woman, a harlot, or polluted, they do not take, and a woman cast out from her husband they do not take, for he is holy to his God;

⁸ and thou hast sanctified him, for the bread of thy God he is bringing near; he is holy to thee; for holy am I, Jehovah, sanctifying you.

⁹ 'And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring — her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.

¹⁰ 'And the high priest of his brethren, on whose head is poured the anointing oil, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments, his head doth not uncover, nor rend his garments,

¹¹ nor beside any dead person doth he come; for his father and for his mother he doth not defile himself;

¹² nor from the sanctuary doth he go out, nor doth he pollute the sanctuary of his God, for the separation of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am Jehovah.

¹³ 'And he taketh a wife in her virginity;

¹⁴ widow, or cast out, or polluted one — a harlot — these he doth not take, but a virgin of his own people he doth take for a wife,

¹⁵ and he doth not pollute his seed among his people; for I am Jehovah, sanctifying him.'

¹⁶ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

¹⁷ 'Speak unto Aaron, saying, No man of thy seed to their generations in whom there is blemish doth draw near to bring near the bread of his God,
