¹ And Jehovah said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none defile himself for the dead among his people;

² except for his kin, that is near unto him, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,

³ and for his sister a virgin, that is near unto him, that hath had no husband; for her may he defile himself.

⁴ He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

⁵ They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take a woman that is a harlot, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

⁸ Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee; for I Jehovah, who sanctify you, am holy.

⁹ And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the harlot, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the priests the sons of Aaron, and thou shalt tell them that they shall not defile themselves in their nation for the dead,

² but they may mourn for a relative who is very near to them, for a father and mother, and sons and daughters, for a brother,

³ and for a virgin sister that is near to one, that is not espoused to a man; for these one shall defile himself.

⁴ He shall not defile himself suddenly among his people to profane himself.

⁵ And ye shall not shave your head for the dead with a baldness on the top; and they shall not shave their beard, neither shall they make gashes on their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy to their God, and they shall not profane the name of their God; for they offer the sacrifices of the Lord as the gifts of their God, and they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take a woman who is a harlot and profaned, or a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy to the Lord his God.

⁸ And thou shalt hallow him; he offers the gifts of the Lord your God: he shall be holy, for I the Lord that sanctify them am holy.

⁹ And if the daughter of a priest should be profaned to go a whoring, she profanes the name of her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

¹ Yahweh also said to Moses/me, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them,

² ‘You priests must not cause yourselves to become unfit to do my work by touching corpses. Priests are permitted to touch only the corpses of close relatives, such as the priest's mother or father or his son or daughter or his brother.

³ Priests are also permitted to touch the corpse of a sister if she is not married, because she has no husband to bury her body.

⁴ Priests must not cause themselves to become unfit to do my work DOU by touching corpses of people who were married to one of their close relatives.

⁵ You priests must not shave your heads or shave the edges of your beards or cut your bodies to show that you are mourning for someone who has died.

⁶ You must act in ways that I, your God, consider to be holy, and not disgrace my name/reputation. You are the ones who present to me the offerings that are burned. It is as though those offerings are food for me, your God; so you must act in ways that are holy.

⁷ You priests must not marry women who have been prostitutes or who have been divorced from their husbands, because you priests are ◄set apart for me/holy►.

⁸ You must consider that you are holy, because you offer food to me, your God. Consider yourselves to be holy because I, Yahweh, the one who caused you to be priests and the one who enables you to be holy, am holy.

⁹ If a priest's daughter disgraces herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; and she must be killed by being burned in a fire.

³ And for his sister, a virgin, for she is his near relation and has had no husband, he may make himself unclean.

⁴ But let him, being a chief among his people, not make himself unclean in such a way as to put shame on himself.

⁵ They are not to have their hair cut off for the dead, or the hair on their chins cut short, or make cuts in their flesh.

⁶ Let them be holy to their God and not make the name of their God common; for the fire offerings of the Lord and the bread of their God are offered by them, and they are to be holy.

⁷ They may not take as wife a loose or common woman, or one who has been put away by her husband: for the priest is holy to his God.

⁸ And he is to be holy in your eyes, for by him the bread of your God is offered; he is to be holy in your eyes, for I the Lord, who make you holy, am holy.

⁹ And if the daughter of a priest makes herself common and by her loose behaviour puts shame on her father, let her be burned with fire.

² except for his immediate relation, who is near unto him — for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother;

³ and for his sister, a virgin, that is near unto him, who hath had no husband, for her may he make himself unclean.

⁴ He shall not make himself unclean who is a chief among his peoples, to profane himself.

⁵ They shall not make any baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corners of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they present Jehovah's offerings by fire, the bread of their God; therefore shall they be holy.

⁷ They shall not take as wife a whore, or a dishonoured woman; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy unto his God.

⁸ And thou shalt hallow him; for the bread of thy God doth he present: he shall be holy unto thee; for I, Jehovah, who hallow you am holy.

⁹ And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burned with fire.

¹ The Lord said also to Moses: Speak to the priests the sons of Aaron, and thou shalt say to them: Let not a priest incur an uncleanness at the death of his citizens:

² But only for his kin, such as are near in blood, that is to say, for his father and for his mother, and for his son, and for his daughter, for his brother also,

³ And for a maiden sister, who hath had no husband:

⁴ But not even for the prince of his people shall he do any thing that may make him unclean.

⁵ Neither shall they shave their head, nor their beard, nor make incisions in their flesh.

⁶ They shall be holy to their God, and shall not profane his name: for they offer the burnt offering of the Lord, and the bread of their God, and therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take to wife a harlot or a vile prostitute, nor one that has been put away from her husband: because they are consecrated to their God,

⁸ And offer the leaves of proposition. Let them therefore be holy, because I also am holy, the Lord, who sanctify them.

⁹ If the daughter of a priest be taken in whoredom, and dishonour the name of her father, she shall be burnt with fire.

¹ The Lord told Moses, “Tell Aaron's sons, the priests: A priest is not to make himself unclean by touching the dead body of any of his relatives.

² The only exceptions are for his immediate family. This includes his mother, father, son, daughter, or brother,

³ or his unmarried sister since she is a close relative because she doesn't have a husband.

⁴ He must not make himself unclean for those only related to him by marriage—he is not to make himself ceremonially impure.

⁵ Priests are not to shave bald spots on their heads, trim the sides of their beards, or cut their bodies.

⁶ They must be holy to their God and not disgrace their God's reputation. They are the one who present the food offerings to the Lord, the food of their God. Consequently they must be holy.

⁷ A priest is not to marry a woman made unclean through prostitution or who is divorced by her husband, for the priest must be holy to his God.

⁸ You shall consider him holy because he presents the food offerings to your God. He shall be holy to you, because I am holy. I am the Lord, and I chose you as my special people.

⁹ A priest's daughter who makes herself unclean through prostitution makes her father unclean. She must be executed by burning.

¹ And the Lord said vnto Moses, Speake vnto the Priestes the sonnes of Aaron, and say vnto them, Let none be defiled by the dead among his people,

² But by his kinseman that is neere vnto him: to wit, by his mother, or by his father, or by his sonne, or by his daughter, or by his brother,

³ Or by his sister a maid, that is neere vnto him, which hath not had a husband: for her he may lament.

⁴ He shall not lament for the Prince among his people, to pollute him selfe.

⁵ They shall not make balde partes vpon their head, nor shaue off the locks of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ They shalbe holy vnto their God, and not pollute the name of their God: for the sacrifices of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God they doe offer: therefore they shalbe holie.

⁷ They shall not take to wife an whore, or one polluted, neither shall they marrie a woman diuorced from her husband: for such one is holy vnto his God.

⁸ Thou shalt sanctifie him therefore, for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy vnto thee: for I the Lord, which sanctifie you, am holy.

⁹ If a Priestes daughter fall to play the whore, she polluteth her father: therefore shall she be burnt with fire.

⁴ The chief man among his people shall not defile himself, to be profaned thereby.

⁵ They shall not make any baldness upon their head, and the corner of their beard shall they not shave off, and in their flesh shall they not make any incision.

⁶ Holy shall they be unto their God, and they shall not profane the name of their God; for the fire-offerings of the Lord, the bread of their God, do they offer, they shall therefore be holy.

⁷ A woman that is a harlot, or one profaned, shall they not take; and a woman put away from her husband shall they not take; for holy is he unto his God.

⁸ And thou shalt sanctify him; for the bread of thy God doth he offer: holy shall he be unto thee; for I the Lord, who sanctify you, am holy.

⁹ And if the daughter of any priest profane herself by committing incest, her father doth she profane: with fire shall she be burnt.

² Yet for his kin, who is nigh to him, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,

³ and for his sister, a virgin who is near to him, who hath no husband, for her he may be defiled.

⁴ But a chief among his people (the high priest) shall not defile himself, to make himself profane.

⁵ They shall not make baldness on their heads, nor cut away the hair of their beards, nor scarify their flesh with marks.

⁶ They shall be holy before their God, and shall not profane the Name of their God; for they offer the oblations of the Lord their God, and they shall be holy.

⁷ They shall not take to wife a woman who is a harlot, or one who is corrupted, nor may they take a woman who hath been put away from her husband; for (the priest is to be) holy before his God.

⁸ Thou shalt consecrate him, for he is to offer the oblation of thy God: he shall be sacred to thee; for I the Lord, who sanctify you, am Holy.

⁹ And if the daughter of a man who is a priest profane herself by becoming an harlot, she hath profaned the sanctity of her father; she shall be burned with fire.

¹ Adonai said to Moses Drawn out, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron Light-bringer, and say to them, ‘A priest shall not defile himself for the dead among his people;

² except for his relatives that are near to him: for his mother, for his father, for his son, for his daughter, for his brother,

³ and for his virgin sister who is near to him, who has had no husband; for her he may defile himself.

⁴ He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

² except for his closest relatives—his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, his brother,

³ or his virgin sister who is dependent on him, since she has no husband—for her he may make himself unclean.

⁴ But he must not make himself unclean for other relatives and so defile himself.

⁵ Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the corners of their beards, nor cut their bodies.

⁶ They must be holy to their God and not disgrace the name of their God, because the priests offer Yahweh's food offerings, the bread of their God. Therefore the priests must be holy.

⁷ They must not marry any woman who is a prostitute and who is defiled, and they must not marry a woman divorced from her husband, for they are separate for their God.

⁸ You will set him apart, for he is the one who offers bread to your God. He must be holy to you, because I, Yahweh who makes you holy, am holy.

⁹ Any daughter of any priest who defiles herself by becoming a prostitute disgraces her father. She must be burned.

⁶ They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the name of their God, for they offer the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, the bread of their God. Therefore they shall be holy.

² except for his relatives that are near to him: for his mother, for his father, for his son, for his daughter, for his brother,

³ and for his virgin sister who is near to him, who has had no husband; for her he may defile himself.

⁵ They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶ they shall be holy to their God, and they shall not defoul his name; for they offer incense of the Lord, and the loaves of their God, and therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ A priest shall not wed a wife a corrupt woman, and a foul whore, neither he shall wed her that is forsaken of the husband, for he is hallowed to his God,

⁸ and offereth the loaves of setting forth; therefore be he holy, for I am the holy Lord that halloweth you.

⁹ If the daughter of a priest is taken in defouling of virginity, and defouleth the name of her father, she shall be burnt in fire.

¹ And the Lord said to Moses, Speak thou to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and thou shalt say to them, A priest be not defouled in the dead men of his citizens (or A priest shall not be defiled with the dead among his fellow citizens),

² no but only in his kinsmen, and nigh of blood, that is, on father, and mother, and son, and daughter, and brother, (only with his own relatives, and next of kin, that is, with his father, and mother, and son, and daughter, and brother,)

³ and sister, (who is) a virgin, that is not wedded to man;

⁴ but neither he shall be defouled in the prince of his people. (but he shall not be defiled even with the ruler of his people.)

⁵ Priests shall not shave their head, neither beard, neither they shall make (any) carvings in their fleshes;

⁶ they shall be holy to their God, and they shall not defoul his name; for they offer incense of the Lord, and the loaves of their God, and therefore they shall be holy. (they shall be holy to their God, and they shall not defile his name; for they offer incense to the Lord, and the loaves to their God, and so they shall be holy.)

⁷ A priest shall not wed (for) a wife a corrupt woman, and a foul whore, neither he shall wed her that is forsaken of the husband, for he is hallowed to his God, (A priest shall not wed for a wife any corrupt woman, or a foul whore, nor shall he wed she who is forsaken by her husband, for he is holy to his God,)

⁸ and offereth the loaves of setting forth; therefore be he holy, for I am the holy Lord that halloweth you. (and offereth the loaves of proposition; and so regard him as holy, for I am holy, the Lord who maketh you holy.)

⁹ If the daughter of a priest is taken in defouling of virginity, and defouleth the name of her father, she shall be burnt in fire. (If a priest’s daughter is caught in defiling her own virginity, and so defileth her father’s name, she shall be burned in the fire.)

¹ And the Lord seide to Moyses, Speke thou to preestis, the sones of Aaron, and thou schalt seie to hem, A preest be not defoulid in the deed men of hise citeseyns,

² no but oneli in kynesmen and niy of blood, that is, on fadir and modir, and sone and douyter,

³ and brother and sister, virgyn, which is not weddid to man;

⁴ but nether he schal be defoulid in the prince of his puple.

⁵ Preestis schulen not schaue the heed, nether beerd, nether thei schulen make keruyngis in her fleischis; thei schulen be hooli to her God,

⁶ and thei schulen not defoule his name; for thei offren encense of the Lord, and the looues of her God, and therfore thei schulen be hooli.

⁷ A preest schal not wedde a wijf a corrupt womman, and a `foul hoore, nether he schal wedde `hir that is forsakun of the hosebonde, for he is halewid to his God,

⁸ and offrith the looues of settyng forth; therfor be he hooly, for `Y am the hooli Lord that halewith you.

⁹ If the `doutir of a preest is takun in defoulyng of virgynite, and defoulith the name of hir fadir, sche schal be brent in flawmes.

¹ And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Speak unto the priests, sons of Aaron, and thou hast said unto them, For any person a priest is not defiled among his people,

² except for his relation who is near unto him — for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.

³ and for his sister, the virgin, who is near unto him, who hath not been to a man; for her he is defiled.

⁴ 'A master priest doth not defile himself among his people — to pollute himself;

⁵ they do not make baldness on their head, and the corner of their beard they do not shave, and in their flesh they do not make a cutting;

⁶ they are holy to their God, and they pollute not the name of their God, for the fire-offerings of Jehovah, bread of their God, they are bringing near, and have been holy.

⁷ 'A woman, a harlot, or polluted, they do not take, and a woman cast out from her husband they do not take, for he is holy to his God;

⁸ and thou hast sanctified him, for the bread of thy God he is bringing near; he is holy to thee; for holy am I, Jehovah, sanctifying you.

⁹ 'And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring — her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.
