Leviticus 18:1-6 in English

¹ And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

² Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am Jehovah your God.

³ After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their statutes.

⁴ Mine ordinances shall ye do, and my statutes shall ye keep, to walk therein: I am Jehovah your God.

⁵ Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and mine ordinances; which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am Jehovah.

⁶ None of you shall approach to any that are near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am Jehovah.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, I am the Lord your God.

³ Ye shall not do according to the devices of Egypt, in which ye dwelt: and according to the devices of the land of Chanaan, into which I bring you, ye shall not do; and ye shall not walk in their ordinances.

⁴ Ye shall observe my judgments, and shall keep my ordinances, and shall walk in them: I am the Lord your God.

⁵ So ye shall keep all my ordinances, and all my judgments, and do them; which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord your God.

⁶ No man shall draw nigh to any of his near kindred to uncover their nakedness; I am the Lord.

¹ Yahweh also said to Moses/me,

² “Speak to the Israeli people and tell them that I, Yahweh, say this this: I am Yahweh, your God.

³ So you must do what I want you to do; you must not do the things that the people in Egypt, where you lived previously, do; and you must not do what is done by the people in Canaan, the land to which I am taking you. Do not imitate their behavior.

⁴ You must obey all of my laws DOU, because it is I, Yahweh your God, who am commanding those laws.

⁵ If you obey all my laws and decrees, you will continue to remain alive for a long time. I, Yahweh, am the one who is promising that to you. These are some of my laws:

⁶ Do not have sex with any of your close relatives. It is I, Yahweh, who am commanding that.

³ You may not do those things which were done in the land of Egypt where you were living; and you may not do those things which are done in the land of Canaan where I am taking you, or be guided in your behaviour by their rules.

⁴ But you are to be guided by my decisions and keep my rules, and be guided by them: I am the Lord your God.

⁵ So keep my rules and my decisions, which, if a man does them, will be life to him: I am the Lord.

⁶ You may not have sex connection with anyone who is a near relation: I am the Lord.

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

³ After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their customs.

⁴ Mine ordinances shall ye do and my statutes shall ye observe to walk therein: I am Jehovah your God.

⁵ And ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, by which the man that doeth them shall live: I am Jehovah.

⁶ No one shall approach to any that is his near relation, to uncover his nakedness: I am Jehovah.

³ You shall not do according to the custom of the land of Egypt, in which you dwelt: neither shall you act according to the manner of the country of Chanaan, into which I will bring you, nor shall you walk in their ordinances.

⁴ You shall do my judgments, and shall observe my precepts, and shall walk in them. I am the Lord your God.

⁵ Keep my laws and my judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in them. I am the Lord.

⁶ No man shall approach to her that is near of kin to him, to uncover her nakedness. I am the Lord.

¹ The Lord told Moses,

² “Tell the Israelites: I am the Lord your God.

³ Don't follow the ways of Egypt where you used to live, and don't follow the ways of Canaan where I'm going to take you. Don't adopt their practices.

⁴ Do what I tell you and keep my rules. I am the Lord your God.

⁵ If you keep my rules and do what I tell you, you will live. I am the Lord.

⁶ Don't have sex with a close relative.

⁴ But do after my iudgements, and keepe mine ordinances, to walke therein: I am the Lord your God.

⁵ Ye shall keepe therefore my statutes, and my iudgements, which if a man doe, he shall then liue in them: I am the Lord.

⁶ None shall come neere to any of ye kinred of his flesh to vncouer her shame: I am the Lord.

¹ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:

³ You shall not do according to the people of the land of Mizraim in which you dwelt, nor after the works of the people of the land of Kenaan, whither I am bringing you, shall you do, neither shall you walk in their laws.

⁴ My judgments shall you perform and keep My statutes to walk in them; I am the Lord your God.

⁵ And you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man do he shall live by them an everlasting life. I am the Lord.

⁶ No man shall come nigh to any of his own flesh to uncover the nakedness; I am the Lord.

¹ Adonai said to Moses Drawn out,

² “Speak to the children of Israel God prevails, and say to them, ‘I am Adonai your God.

³ You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt Abode of slavery, where you lived: and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan Humbled, where I am bringing you. You shall not follow their regulations.

⁴ You shall do my judgments, and you shall keep my regulations, and walk in them: I am Adonai your God.

⁵ You shall therefore keep my regulations and my judgments; which if a man does them, he shall live in them. I am Adonai . (LY:6)

⁶ “‘None of you shall approach anyone who are his close relatives, to uncover their nakedness: I am Adonai .

¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

² “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'I am Yahweh your God.

³ You must not do the things that the people do in Egypt, where you lived previously. You must not do the things that the people do in Canaan, the land to which I am taking you. Do not follow their customs.

⁴ My laws are what you must do, and my commandments are what you must keep, so that you walk in them, because I am Yahweh your God.

⁵ Therefore you must keep my decrees and my laws. If a person obeys them, he will live because of them. I am Yahweh.

⁶ No one must sleep with any close relative to uncover his nakedness. I am Yahweh.

¹ Yahweh said to Moses,

³ You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived. You shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. You shall not follow their statutes.

⁶ A man shall not nigh to a nigh woman of his blood, that he show her filthhood or nakedness; I am the Lord.

² Speak thou to the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, I am your Lord God; (Speak thou to the Israelites, and thou shalt say to them, I am the Lord your God;)

³ ye shall not do by the custom of the land of Egypt, in which ye dwelled; ye shall not do by the custom of the land of Canaan, to which I shall bring you in, neither ye shall go in the lawful things of them, that is, in the (ir) custom of worshipping (nor shall ye follow their laws, or their custom of worshipping).

⁴ Ye shall do my dooms, and ye shall keep my behests, and ye shall go in them; I am your Lord God. (Ye shall follow my laws, or my judgements, and ye shall obey my commands, and ye shall walk in them; I am the Lord your God.)

⁵ Keep ye my laws and dooms, which a man shall do, and he shall live in those; I am your Lord God. (Obey ye my laws and judgements, for those who follow them, shall have life; I am the Lord your God.)

⁶ A man shall not nigh to a nigh woman of his blood, that he show her filthhood (or that he uncover her nakedness, or so that they have sexual intercourse); I am the Lord.

¹ And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel,

² and thou schalt seie to hem, Y am youre Lord God;

³ ye schulen not do by the custom of the lond of Egipt, in which ye dwelliden; ye schulen not do bi the custom of the cuntrei of Canaan, `to which Y schal brynge you yn, nethir ye schulen go in the lawful thingis of hem.

⁴ Ye schulen do my domes, and ye schulen kepe myn heestis, and ye schulen go in tho; Y am youre Lord God.

⁵ Kepe ye my lawis and domes, whiche a man `schal do, and schal lyue in tho; Y am youre Lord God.

⁶ Ech man schal not neiy to the nyy womman of his blood, that he schewe `the filthe of hir; Y am the Lord.

¹ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

² 'Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, I am Jehovah your God;

³ according to the work of the land of Egypt in which ye have dwelt ye do not, and according to the work of the land of Canaan whither I am bringing you in, ye do not, and in their statutes ye walk not.

⁴ 'My judgments ye do, and My statutes ye keep, to walk in them; I am Jehovah your God;

⁵ and ye have kept My statutes and My judgments which man doth and liveth in them; I am Jehovah.

⁶ 'None of you unto any relation of his flesh doth draw near to uncover nakedness; I am Jehovah.
