¹ And Jehovah spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

² Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the living things which ye may eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

³ Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat.

⁴ Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that part the hoof: the camel, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you.

⁵ And the coney, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you.

⁶ And the hare, because she cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, she is unclean unto you.

⁷ And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you.

⁸ Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch; they are unclean unto you.

¹ Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,

² “Tell the Israeli people that this is what Yahweh says: From all the animals that live on the land, these are the ones that you are permitted to eat:

³ The ones that have hooves that are completely split and that ◄chew their cuds/bring their food up from their stomachs to chew it again►.

⁴ There are some animals that chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, and some animals that have split hooves but do not chew their cuds. You must not eat any of those animals. For example, camels chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.

⁵ Rock badgers chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.

⁶ Rabbits chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.

⁷ Pigs have completely split hooves but they do not chew their cuds, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.

⁸ All of those animals are unacceptable for you, so you must not eat their meat or even touch their carcasses.

³ You may have as food any beast which has a division in the horn of its foot, and whose food comes back into its mouth to be crushed again.

⁴ But, at the same time, of those beasts, you may not take for food the camel, because its food comes back but the horn of its foot is not parted in two; it is unclean to you.

⁵ And the rock-badger, for the same reason, is unclean to you.

⁶ And the hare, because the horn of its foot is not parted in two, is unclean to you.

⁷ And the pig is unclean to you, because though the horn of its foot is parted, its food does not come back.

⁸ Their flesh may not be used for food, and their dead bodies may not even be touched; they are unclean to you.

⁵ The cherogrillus which cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof, is unclean.

⁶ The hare also: for that too cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof.

⁷ And the swine, which, though it divideth the hoof, cheweth not the cud.

⁸ The flesh of these you shall not eat, nor shall you touch their carcasses, because they are unclean to you.

¹ The Lord told Moses and Aaron,

² “Give these instructions to the Israelites. These are the animals you are allowed to eat:

³ any animal that both has a divided hoof and also chews the cud.

⁴ However, if it either chews the cud, or has a divided hoof, then you may not eat it. These include: the camel, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.

⁵ The rock hyrax, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.

⁶ The hare, which though it chews the cud doesn't have a divided hoof, so it is unclean for you.

⁷ The pig, which though it has a divided hoof doesn't chew the cud, so it is unclean for you.

⁸ You are not to eat their meat or touch their bead bodies. They are unclean for you.

⁷ And the swine, because he parteth ye hoofe and is clouen footed, but cheweth not the cud, he shalbe vncleane to you.

⁸ Of their flesh shall yee not eate, and their carkeise shall yee not touch: for they shall bee vncleane to you.

⁸ Ye shall not eat the flesh of these beasts, neither ye shall touch their dead bodies, for those or they be unclean to you.

⁴ soothly whatever thing cheweth cud, and hath a claw, but parteth not it, as a camel, and other beasts, (or but whatever beast cheweth the cud, and hath a hoof, but it is not divided, like a camel, and other beasts), ye shall not eat it, and ye shall areckon it among unclean things.

⁵ A coney, which cheweth (the) cud, and parteth not the claw (or but its hoof is not divided), is unclean;

⁶ and an hare, for also he cheweth (the) cud, but parteth not the claw (or but its hoof is not divided);

⁷ and a swine, that cheweth not the cud, though he parteth the claw (or though its hoof is divided).

⁸ Ye shall not eat the flesh of these beasts, neither ye shall touch their dead bodies, for those be unclean to you.

¹ And the Lord spak to Moises and Aaron, and seide,

² Seie ye to the sones of Israel, Kepe ye alle thingis whiche Y wroot to you, that Y be youre God. These ben the beestis, whiche ye schulen ete, of alle lyuynge beestis of erthe;

³ ye schulen ete `al thing among beestis that hath a clee departid, and chewith code;

⁴ sotheli what euer thing chewith code, and hath a clee, but departith not it, as a camel and othere beestis doon, ye schulen not ete it, and ye schulen arette among vnclene thingis.

⁵ A cirogrille, which chewith code, and departith not the clee, is vnclene; and an hare,

⁶ for also he chewith code, but departith not the clee;

⁷ and a swiyn, that chewith not code, thouy he departith the clee.

⁸ Ye schulen not ete the fleischis of these, nether ye schulen touche the deed bodies, for tho ben vnclene to you.

¹ And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying unto them,

² 'Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, This is the beast which ye do eat out of all the beasts which are on the earth:

³ any dividing a hoof, and cleaving the cleft of the hoofs, bringing up the cud, among the beasts, it ye do eat.

⁴ 'Only, this ye do not eat — of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the hoof — the camel, though it is bringing up the cud, yet the hoof not dividing — it is unclean to you;

⁵ and the rabbit, though it is bringing up the cud, yet the hoof it divideth not — unclean it is to you;

⁶ and the hare, though it is bringing up the cud, yet the hoof hath not divided — unclean it is to you;

⁷ and the sow, though it is dividing the hoof, and cleaving the cleft of the hoof, yet the cud it bringeth not up — unclean it is to you.

⁸ 'Of their flesh ye do not eat, and against their carcase ye do not come — unclean they are to you.
