² And there came forth fire from before Jehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah.

³ Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that Jehovah spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

⁴ And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Draw near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

⁵ So they drew near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.

⁶ And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Let not the hair of your heads go loose, neither rend your clothes; that ye die not, and that he be not wroth with all the congregation: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which Jehovah hath kindled.

⁷ And ye shall not go out from the door of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of Jehovah is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And Jehovah spake unto Aaron, saying,

⁹ Drink no wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, that ye die not: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

¹⁰ and that ye may make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;

¹¹ and that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah hath spoken unto them by Moses.

¹² And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meal-offering that remaineth of the offerings of Jehovah made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar; for it is most holy;

¹³ and ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it is thy portion, and thy sons’ portion, of the offerings of Jehovah made by fire: for so I am commanded.

¹⁴ And the wave-breast and the heave-thigh shall ye eat in a clean place, thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they are given as thy portion, and thy sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace-offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The heave-thigh and the wave-breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave-offering before Jehovah: and it shall be thine, and thy sons’ with thee, as a portion for ever; as Jehovah hath commanded.

¹⁶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, saying,

³ And Moses said to Aaron, This is the thing which the Lord spoke, saying, I will be sanctified among them that draw nigh to me, and I will be glorified in the whole congregation; and Aaron was pricked in his heart.

⁴ And Moses called Misadaë, and Elisaphan, sons of Oziel, sons of the brother of Aaron's father, and said to them, Draw near and take your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

⁵ And they came near and took them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses said.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and Eleazar and Ithamar his sons that were left, Ye shall not make bare your heads, and ye shall not tear your garments; that ye die not, and so there should be wrath on all the congregation: but your brethren, even all the house of Israel, shall lament for the burning, with which they were burnt by the Lord.

⁷ And ye shall not go forth from the door of the tabernacle of witness, that ye die not; for the Lord's anointing oil is upon you: and they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And the Lord spoke to Aaron, saying,

⁹ Ye shall not drink wine nor strong drink, thou and thy sons with thee, whensoever ye enter into the tabernacle of witness, or when ye approach the altar, so shall ye not die; it is a perpetual statute for your generations,

¹⁰ to distinguish between sacred and profane, and between clean and unclean,

¹¹ and to teach the children of Israel all the statutes, which the Lord spoke to them by Moses.

¹² And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who survived, Take the sacrifice that is left of the burnt-offerings of the Lord, and ye shall eat unleavened bread by the altar: it is most holy.

¹³ And ye shall eat it in the holy place; for this is a statute for thee and a statute for thy sons, of the burnt-offerings to the Lord; for so it has been commanded me.

¹⁴ And ye shall eat the breast of separation, and the shoulder of the choice-offering in the holy place, thou and thy sons and thy house with thee; for it has been given as an ordinance for thee and an ordinance for thy sons, of the sacrifices of peace-offering of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ They shall bring the shoulder of the choice-offering, and the breast of the separation upon the burnt-offerings of the fat, to separate for a separation before the Lord; and it shall be a perpetual ordinance for thee and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, as the Lord commanded Moses.

¹⁶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, but it had been consumed by fire; and Moses was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron that were left, saying,

² So suddenly a fire from Yahweh appeared and burned them up DOU in the presence of Yahweh.

³ Then Moses/I said to Aaron, “That is what Yahweh predicted. He said, ‘Those priests who come near to me, I will show them that they must ◄respect me/treat me as being holy►; in the presence of all the people I am the one who must be honored.’” But Aaron said nothing.

⁴ Then Moses/I summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, who were the sons of Aaron's uncle Uzziel, and said to them, “Take the corpses of your cousins outside the camp, away from the front of the Sacred Tent.”

⁵ So they carried the corpses, which still had their special gowns on, outside the camp, and buried them.

⁶ Then Moses/I said to Aaron and his other two sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “ You are sad because Nadab and Abihu died, but you must act like you always do. Do not allow the hair on your heads to remain uncombed, and do not tear your clothes. But your relatives and all your fellow Israelis are allowed to mourn for those whom Yahweh destroyed by fire.

⁷ But you must not leave the entrance of the Sacred Tent to join those who are mourning, because if you do that, you also will die, and Yahweh will punish MTY all the people of Israel. Do not forget that Yahweh has set you apart MTY to work for him here, and he does not want you to become defiled by touching a corpse.” So they did what Moses/I told them to do.

⁸ Then Yahweh said to Aaron,

⁹ “You and your two sons who are still alive must not drink wine or other fermented drinks before you enter the Sacred Tent; if you do that, you will die. That is a command that you and your descendants must obey forever.

¹⁰ You must do that in order to learn what things are holy and what things are ◄not holy/common►, and from the things that are not holy you must learn what things are acceptable to me and what things are not.

¹¹ And you must teach to the Israeli people all the laws that I gave to the Israeli people by telling them to Moses.”

¹² Moses/I said to Aaron and his two sons who were still alive, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Take the offering made from grain that is left after a portion of it has been offered to Yahweh to be burned, and eat it alongside the altar. It should not be eaten elsewhere, because it is very holy.

¹³ Eat it in a holy place; it is the share for you and your sons from the offerings that were burned; I have commanded that it be your share.

¹⁴ But you and your sons and daughters are permitted to eat the breast and the thigh that were lifted up in front of Yahweh. Eat them in any place that is ◄holy/acceptable to him►. They have been given to you and your descendants as your share of the offerings to enable the Israelis to maintain fellowship with Yahweh.

¹⁵ The thigh and the breast that were lifted up in front of Yahweh must be brought with the portions of fat to be burned, to be lifted up in his presence. They will be the regular share for you and your descendants, as Yahweh has commanded.”

¹⁶ When Moses/I inquired about the goat that had been sacrificed to enable the people to be forgiven by Yahweh for the sins they had committed, he/I found out that it had been completely burned. So he/I was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar and asked them,

¹⁰ You are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean.

¹¹ You are to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD has spoken to them by Moses.”

¹² Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy;

¹³ and you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your portion, and your sons’ portion, of the offerings of the LORD made by fire; for so I am commanded.

¹⁴ The waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ They shall bring the heaved thigh and the waved breast with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD. It shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a portion forever, as the LORD has commanded.”

¹⁶ Moses diligently enquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt. He was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying,

² And fire came out from before the Lord, burning them up and causing their destruction before the Lord.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, This is what the Lord said, I will be holy in the eyes of all those who come near to me, and I will be honoured before all the people. And Aaron said nothing.

⁴ And Moses sent for Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, the brother of Aaron's father, and said to them, Come near and take your brothers away from before the holy place, outside the tent-circle.

⁵ So they came and took them, in their coats, outside the tent-circle, as Moses had said.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, Do not let your hair be loose, and give no signs of grief; so that death may not overtake you, and his wrath come on all the people; but let there be weeping among your brothers and all the house of Israel for this burning of the Lord's fire.

⁷ And do not go out from the door of the Tent of meeting, or death will come to you; for the holy oil of the Lord is on you. And they did as Moses said.

⁸ And the Lord said to Aaron:

⁹ Take no wine, or strong drink, you or your sons with you, when you go into the Tent of meeting, that it may not be the cause of death to you; this is an order for ever through all your generations.

¹⁰ And make a division between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;

¹¹ Teaching the children of Israel all the laws which the Lord has given them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons who were still living, Take the rest of the meal offering from the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and take it for your food, without leaven, at the side of the altar, for it is most holy.

¹³ It is to be for your food in a holy place, because it is your right and your sons' right, from the offerings of the Lord made by fire: for so am I ordered.

¹⁴ And the breast which is waved and the leg which is lifted up on high, you are to take as your food in a clean place; you and your sons and your daughters with you: for they are given to you as your right and your sons' right, from the peace-offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ Let them take the breast which is waved and the leg which is lifted up on high, with the fat of the burned offering, to be waved for a wave offering before the Lord; and this will be for you and for your sons with you, for a right for ever, as the Lord has given orders.

¹⁶ And Moses was looking for the goat of the sin-offering, but it was burned; and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron, who were still living, saying,

² And there went out fire from before Jehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah.

³ And Moses said to Aaron, This is what Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be hallowed in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron was silent.

⁴ And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

⁵ And they went near, and carried them in their vests out of the camp, as Moses had said.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons, Your heads shall ye not uncover, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come on all the assembly; but your brethren, the whole house of Israel, shall bewail the burning which Jehovah hath kindled.

⁷ And ye shall not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of Jehovah is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And Jehovah spoke to Aaron, saying,

⁹ Thou shalt not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, and thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tent of meeting, lest ye die — it is an everlasting statute throughout your generations,

¹⁰ that ye may put difference between the holy and the unholy, and between unclean and clean,

¹¹ and that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah hath spoken to them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the oblation that is left of Jehovah's offerings by fire, and eat it with unleavened bread beside the altar; for it is most holy.

¹³ And ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of Jehovah's offerings by fire; for so I am commanded.

¹⁴ And the breast of the wave-offering, and the shoulder of the heave-offering shall ye eat in a clean place, thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee; for as thy due, and thy sons' due, are they given of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The shoulder of the heave-offering and the breast of the wave-offering shall they bring, with the fire-offering of the pieces of fat, to wave them as a wave-offering before Jehovah; and they shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, for an everlasting statute, as Jehovah has commanded.

¹⁶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, and behold, it was burnt up: then he was wroth with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, saying,

² And fire coming out from the Lord destroyed them, and they died before the Lord.

³ And Moses said to Aaron: This is what the Lord hath spoken: I will be sanctified in them that approach to me, and I will be glorified in the sight of all the people. And when Aaron heard this, he held his peace.

⁴ And Moses called Misael and Elisaphan, the sons of Oziel, the uncle of Aaron, and said to them: Go and take away your brethren from before the sanctuary, and carry them without the camp.

⁵ And they went forthwith and took them as they lay, vested with linen tunicks, and cast them forth, as had been commanded them.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons: Uncover not your heads, and rend not your garments, lest perhaps you die, and indignation come upon all the congregation. Let your brethren, and all the house of Israel, bewail the burning which the Lord has kindled:

⁷ But you shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle, otherwise you shall perish, for the oil of the holy unction is on you. And they did all things according to the precept of Moses.

⁸ The Lord also said to Aaron:

⁹ You shall not drink wine nor any thing that may make drunk, thou nor thy sons, when you enter into the tabernacle of the testimony, lest you die: because it is an everlasting precept through your generations:

¹⁰ And that you may have knowledge to discern between holy and unholy, between unclean and clean:

¹¹ And may teach the children of Israel all my ordinances which the Lord hath spoken to them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons that were left: Take the sacrifice that is remaining of the oblation of the Lord, and eat it without leaven beside the altar, because it is holy of holies.

¹³ And you shall eat it in a holy place: which is given to thee and thy sons of the oblations of the Lord, as it hath been commanded me.

¹⁴ The breast also that is offered, and the shoulder that is separated, you shall eat in a most clean place, thou and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee. For they are set aside for thee and thy children, of the victims of peace offerings of the children of Israel:

¹⁵ Because they have elevated before the Lord the shoulder and the breast, and the fat that is burnt on the altar, and they belong to thee and to thy sons by a perpetual law, as the Lord hath commanded.

¹⁶ While these things were a doing, when Moses sought for the buck goat, that had been offered for sin, he found it burnt: and being angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, he said:

² Fire came out from the Lord's presence and burned them up. They died in the Lord's presence.

³ Moses explained to Aaron, “This is what the Lord was talking about when he said: ‘I will show my holiness to those who approach me; I will reveal my glory so everyone can see.” But Aaron didn't reply.

⁴ Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Aaron's uncle Uzziel, and told them, “Come and carry away the bodies of your cousins and take them outside the camp, away from the front of the sanctuary.”

⁵ They came and picked them up by their clothes, and took them outside the camp, as Moses had ordered.

⁶ Then Moses told Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “Don't leave your hair uncombed, and don't tear your clothes in mourning, otherwise you will die, and the Lord will be angry with everyone. But your relatives and all the other Israelites may mourn for those the Lord killed by fire.

⁷ Don't go outside the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, or you will die, because you have been anointed by the Lord.” They did what Moses said.

⁸ The Lord told Aaron,

⁹ “You and your descendants must not to drink wine or any other alcohol when you go in to the Tent of Meeting, otherwise you will die. This regulation is for all time and for all future generations.

¹⁰ You must realize the difference between the holy and the ordinary, between clean and unclean,

¹¹ so you can teach the Israelites all the regulations that the Lord has given to them through Moses.”

¹² Moses told Aaron and his two sons who were left, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Take the grain offering that is left over from the food offerings given to the Lord and eat it without yeast beside the altar, because it is most holy.

¹³ You must eat it in a holy place, because it is the share for you and your descendants from the food offerings given to the Lord. This is what I have been ordered.

¹⁴ You and your male and female descendants can eat the breast of the wave offering and the thigh contribution anywhere that is ceremonially clean, because you and your descendants have been given these as your share from the peace offerings of the Israelites.

¹⁵ The thigh contribution and the breast of the wave offering, as well as the fat portions of the food offerings made, they are to bring and wave as a wave offering before the Lord. They belong to you and your children forever as the Lord has ordered.”

¹⁶ Moses checked what had happened to the goat of the sin offering, and found out that it had been burned. He got angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons Aaron had left, and asked them,

² Therefore a fire went out from the Lord, and deuoured them: so they dyed before the Lord.

³ Then Moses sayde vnto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will bee sanctified in the that come neere me, and before all the people I will be glorified: but Aaron held his peace.

⁴ And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan the sonnes of Vzziel, the vncle of Aaron, and saide vnto them, Come neere, cary your brethre from before the Sanctuarie out of the hoste.

⁵ Then they went, and caried them in their coates out of the host, as Moses had comaunded.

⁶ After, Moses saide vnto Aaron and vnto Eleazar and Ithamar his sonnes, Vncouer not your heads, neither rent your clothes, least ye dye, and least wrath come vpon all ye people: but let your brethren, all the house of Israel bewayle the burning which the Lord hath kindled.

⁷ And go not yee out from the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, least ye dye: for the anointing oyle of the Lord is vpon you: and they did according to Moses commandement.

⁸ And the Lord spake vnto Aaron, saying,

⁹ Thou shalt not drinke wine nor strong drinke, thou, nor thy sonnes with thee, when yee come into the Tabernacle of the Congregation, lest ye die: this is an ordinance for euer throughout your generations,

¹⁰ That ye may put difference betweene the holy and the vnholy, and betweene the cleane and the vncleane,

¹¹ And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath commanded them by the hand of Moses.

¹² Then Moses saide vnto Aaron and vnto Eleazar and to Ithamar his sonnes that were left, Take the meate offring that remaineth of the offrings of the Lord, made by fire, and eate it without leauen beside ye altar: for it is most holy:

¹³ And ye shall eate it in the holy place, because it is thy duetie and thy sonnes duety of the offringes of the Lord made by fire: for so I am commanded.

¹⁴ Also the shaken breast and the heaue shoulder shall yee eate in a cleane place: thou, and thy sonnes, and thy daughters with thee: for they are giuen as thy duetie and thy sonnes duety, of the peace offringes of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The heaue shoulder, and the shaken breast shall they bring with the offringes made by fire of the fat, to shake it to and from before the Lord, and it shalbe thine and thy sonnes with thee by a lawe for euer, as the Lord hath commanded.

¹⁶ And Moses sought the goate that was offred for sinne, and lo, it was burnt: therefore he was angrie with Eleazar and Ithamar the sonnes of Aaron, which were left aliue, saying,

² And there came forth fire from before the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

³ Then Moses said unto Aaron: 'This is it that the LORD spoke, saying: Through them that are nigh unto Me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.' And Aaron held his peace.

⁴ And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them: 'Draw near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.'

⁵ So they drew near, and carried them in their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.

⁶ And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons: 'Let not the hair of your heads go loose, neither tend your clothes, that ye die not, and that He be not wroth with all the congregation; but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

⁷ And ye shall not go out from the door of the tent of meeting, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you.' And they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And the LORD spoke unto Aaron, saying:

¹⁰ And that ye may put difference between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;

¹¹ and that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.'

¹² And Moses spoke unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left: 'Take the meal-offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar; for it is most holy.

¹⁵ The thigh of heaving and the breast of waving shall they bring with the offerings of the fat made by fire, to wave it for a wave-offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, as a due for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.'

¹⁶ And Moses diligently inquired for the goat of the sin-offering, and, behold, it was burnt; and he was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron that were left, saying:

¹⁴ And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the Lord; and it shall be thine, and thy sons’ with thee, by a statute for ever; as the Lord hath commanded.

¹⁶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,

² And there went out a fire from before the Lord, and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.

³ Then said Moses unto Aaron, This is what the Lord hath spoken, saying, On those who are near unto me will I be sanctified, and before all the people will I be glorified: and Aaron held his peace.

⁴ And Moses called unto Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of 'Uzziel, the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary to without the camp.

⁵ And they came near, and carried them in their coats to without the camp; as Moses had spoken.

⁶ And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Elazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, The hair of your head you shall not let grow long, and your garments you shall not rend, that ye die not, and that he be not wroth upon the whole congregation; but your brethren, the whole house of Israel, may bewail the burning which the Lord hath kindled.

⁷ And from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation shall ye not go out, lest ye die; for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you; and they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And the Lord spoke unto Aaron, saying,

⁹ Wine or strong drink shalt thou not drink, neither thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations.

¹⁰ So that ye may be able to distinguish between the holy and the unholy, and between the unclean and the clean;

¹¹ And that ye may be able to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses spoke unto Aaron, and unto Elazar and unto Ithamar his sons, that were left, Take ye the meat-offering that is left of the fire-offerings of the Lord, and eat it unleavened beside the altar; for it is most holy.

¹³ And ye shall eat it in a holy place, because it is thy fixed portion, and the fixed portion of thy sons, from the fire-offerings of the Lord; for so have I been commanded.

¹⁴ And the breast which hath been waved and the shoulder which hath been lifted up, shall ye eat in a clean place, thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee; for as thy fixed portion, and the fixed portion of thy sons, have they been given from the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The shoulder which is waved and the breast which is lifted up, shall they bring with the fat of the fire-offering, to make therewith a waving before the Lord: and then shall it be thine, and thy sons with thee, as a fixed portion for ever; as the Lord hath commanded.

¹⁶ And the goat of the sin-offering Moses sought diligently, and behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Elazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who had been left, and said,

² and fire came forth from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.

³ And Moses said to Aaron, This is the thing which the Lord spoke, saying, I will be sanctified among them that draw nigh to me, and I will be glorified in the whole congregation; and Aaron was pricked in his heart.

⁴ And Moses called Mishael, and Elzaphan, sons of Uzziel, sons of the brother of Aaron’s father, and said to them, Draw near and take your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

⁵ And they came near and took them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses said.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and Eleazar and Ithamar his sons that were left, Ye shall not make bare your heads, and ye shall not tear your garments; that ye die not, and so there should be wrath on all the congregation: but your brethren, even all the house of Israel, shall lament for the burning, with which they were burned by the Lord.

⁷ And ye shall not go forth from the door of the tabernacle of witness, that ye die not; for the Lord’s anointing oil is upon you: and they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And the Lord spoke to Aaron, saying,

⁹ Ye shall not drink wine nor strong drink, thou and thy sons with thee, whensoever ye enter into the tabernacle of witness, or when ye approach the altar, so shall ye not die; it is a perpetual statute for your generations,

¹⁰ to distinguish between sacred and profane, and between clean and unclean,

¹¹ and to teach the children of Israel all the statutes, which the Lord spoke to them by Moses.

¹² And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who survived, Take the sacrifice that is left of the burnt offerings of the Lord, and ye shall eat unleavened bread by the altar: it is most holy.

¹³ And ye shall eat it in the holy place; for this is a statute for thee and a statute for thy sons, of the burnt offerings to the Lord; for so it has been commanded me.

¹⁴ And ye shall eat the breast of separation, and the shoulder of the choice offering in the holy place, thou and thy sons and thy house with thee; for it has been given as an ordinance for thee and an ordinance for thy sons, of the sacrifices of peace offering of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ They shall bring the shoulder of the choice offering, and the breast of the separation upon the burnt offerings of the fat, to separate for a separation before the Lord; and it shall be a perpetual ordinance for thee and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, as the Lord commanded Moses.

¹⁶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, but it had been consumed by fire; and Moses was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron that were left, saying,

² And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.

³ And Mosheh said unto Aharon, This is that which the Lord spake, saying, In them who approacheth Me I will be sanctified, and in the face of all the people will I be glorified. And Aharon was silent.

⁴ And Mosheh called to Mishael and to Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aharon, and said to them, Come nigh, and carry your brethren from before the sanctuary without the camp.

⁵ And they came nigh, and carried them in their vestments out of the camp, as Mosheh had spoken.

⁶ And Mosheh said to Aharon and to Elazar and to Ithamar his sons, Make not bare your heads, nor rend your garments, lest you die, and wrath be upon all the congregation; but let your brethren and all the house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath kindled;

⁷ And go not forth from the door of the tabernacle of ordinance, lest you die; for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you. And they did according to the word of Mosheh.

⁸ And the Lord spake unto Aharon, saying:

⁹ Drink not wine nor strong drink, neither thou nor thy sons with thee, when you enter into the tabernacle of ordinance, that you die not. It is an everlasting statute unto your generations,

¹⁰ For the distinguishment between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean;

¹¹ And that you may teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath spoken to them through Mosheh.

¹² And Mosheh spake with Aharon and with Elazar and with Ithamar his sons who were left: Take the mincha which remaineth of the oblations of the Lord, and eat it unleavened at the side of the altar, because it is most holy.

¹³ It shall be eaten in the holy place; for it is thy portion, and the portion of thy sons of the oblations of the Lord; for so have I been commanded.

¹⁴ But the breast of the uplifting and the shoulder of the separation you may eat on (any) clean place, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee; for it is thy portion, and the portion of thy sons, which hath been given of the hallowed sacrifices of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The shoulder of the separation and the breast of the uplifting they will bring with the oblation of the fat things to uplift, an elevation before the Lord: and they shall be thine and thy sons’ with thee by an everlasting statute, as the Lord hath commanded.

¹⁶ But Mosheh made inquiry for the goat of the sin offering; and, behold, it had been burned; and he was angry with Elazar and Ithamar the sons of Aharon who were left, saying:

² Fire came out from before Adonai , and devoured them, and they died before Adonai .

³ Then Moses Drawn out said to Aaron Light-bringer, “This is what Adonai spoke of, saying, ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron Light-bringer held his peace.

⁴ Moses Drawn out called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the dod ·uncle· of Aaron Light-bringer, and said to them, “Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”

⁵ So they came near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses Drawn out had said.

⁶ Moses Drawn out said to Aaron Light-bringer, and to Eleazar Help of God and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, and don’t tear your clothes; so that you don’t die, and so that he not be angry with all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel God prevails, bewail the burning which Adonai has kindled.

⁷ You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die; for the anointing oil of Adonai is on you.” They did according to the word of Moses Drawn out.

⁸ Then Adonai said to Aaron Light-bringer,

⁹ “You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This shall be a regulation forever throughout all your generations.

¹⁰ You are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean.

¹¹ You are to teach the children of Israel God prevails all the statutes which Adonai has spoken to them by Moses Drawn out.” (4)

¹² Moses Drawn out spoke to Aaron Light-bringer, and to Eleazar Help of God and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of Adonai made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy;

¹³ and you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your chok ·portion·, and your sons’ chok ·portion·, of the offerings of Adonai made by fire: for so I am enjoined.

¹⁴ The breast that is waved and the thigh that is raised you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your chok ·portion·, and your sons’ chok ·portion·, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel God prevails.

¹⁵ The thigh that is raised and the breast that is waved they shall bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before Adonai : and it shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a chok ·portion· forever; as Adonai has enjoined.” (5)

¹⁶ Moses Drawn out diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned: and he was angry with Eleazar Help of God and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron Light-bringer who were left, saying,

² So fire came out from before Yahweh and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what Yahweh was talking about when he said, 'I will reveal my holiness to those who come near me. I will be glorified before all the people.'” Aaron did not say anything.

⁴ Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Come here and carry your brothers out of the camp from before the tabernacle.”

⁵ So they came near and carried them, still wearing their priestly tunics, out of the camp, as Moses had instructed.

⁶ Then Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Do not let your hair on your heads hang loosely, and do not tear your clothes, so that you may not die, and so that Yahweh may not be angry with all the assembly. But allow your relatives, the entire house of Israel, to mourn for those whom the fire of Yahweh has set ablaze.

⁷ You must not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting, or you will die, for the anointing oil of Yahweh is on you.” So they acted according to Moses' instructions.

⁸ Yahweh spoke to Aaron, saying,

⁹ “Do not drink wine or strong drink, you, or your sons who remain with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, so you will not die. This will be a permanent statute throughout your people's generations,

¹⁰ to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean,

¹¹ so that you may teach the people of Israel all the statutes that Yahweh has commanded through Moses.”

¹² Moses spoke to Aaron and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his remaining sons, “Take the grain offering that remains from the offerings to Yahweh made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar, for it is most holy.

¹³ You must eat it in a holy place, because it is your share and your sons' share of the offerings to Yahweh made by fire, for this is what I have been commanded to tell you.

¹⁴ The breast that is waved and the thigh that is presented to Yahweh, you must eat in a clean place acceptable to God. You and your sons and daughters with you should eat those portions, for they are given as your share and your sons' share out of the sacrifices of the fellowship offerings of the people of Israel.

¹⁵ The thigh that is presented and the breast that is waved, they must bring with the offerings of fat made by fire, to wave before Yahweh. They will be yours and your sons' with you as a share forever, as Yahweh has commanded.”

¹⁶ Then Moses asked about the goat for the sin offering, and found that it was burned up. So he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the remaining sons of Aaron; he said,

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what Yahweh spoke of, saying, ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.

⁵ So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

⁷ And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying,

⁹ Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

¹⁰ And that ye may make a difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

¹¹ And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken to them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat-offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:

¹³ And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.

¹⁴ And the wave-breast and heave-shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they are thy due, and thy sons' due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ The heave-shoulder and the wave-breast shall they bring, with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave-offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.

¹⁶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering, and behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left alive , saying,

⁴ Soothly when Moses had called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, the brother of Aaron’s father, he said to them, Go ye, and take away your brethren from the sight of the saintuary, and bear ye them out of the tents.

⁵ And anon they went, and took them, as they lay clothed with linen coats, and casted them out, as it was commanded to them.

⁶ And Moses spake to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron, Do not ye make naked your heads, and do not ye rend your clothes, lest peradventure ye die, and indignation of God rise upon all the company; your brethren and all the house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath raised up.

⁷ But ye shall not go out of the gates of the tabernacle, else ye shall perish; for the oil of holy anointing is on you. The which did all things by the behest of Moses.

⁸ Also the Lord said to Aaron,

⁹ Thou and thy sons shall not drink wine, and all thing that may make drunken, when ye shall enter into the tabernacle of witnessing, lest ye die; for it is everlasting behest into your generations,

¹⁰ and that ye have knowing to make doom betwixt holy thing and unholy, betwixt polluted thing and clean;

¹¹ and that ye teach the sons of Israel all my lawful things, which the Lord spake to them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses spake to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take ye the sacrifice that was left of the offering of the Lord, and eat ye it without sourdough, beside the altar, for it is holy of holy things.

¹³ Soothly ye shall eat in the holy place that that is given to thee, and to thy sons, of the offerings of the Lord, as it is commanded to me.

¹⁴ Also thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee, shall eat in the cleanest place the breast which is offered, and the shoulder which is separated; for those be kept to thee, and to thy free sons, of the healthful sacrifices of the sons of Israel;

¹⁵ for they raised before the Lord the shoulder and the breast, and the inner fatnesses that be burnt in the altar; and pertain they to thee, and to thy sons, by everlasting law, as the Lord commanded.

¹⁶ Among these things when Moses sought the goat buck that was offered for sin, he found it burnt, and he was wroth against Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons, that were left alive. And he said,

² And fire went out from the Lord, and devoured them, and they were dead before the Lord.

³ And Moses said to Aaron, This thing it is that the Lord spake (or This is what the Lord meant when he said), I shall be hallowed in them that nigh to me, and I shall be glorified in the sight of all the people; which thing Aaron heard, and was still.

⁴ Soothly when Moses had called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, the brother of Aaron’s father, he said to them, Go ye, and take away your brethren from the sight of the saintuary, and bear ye them out of the tents, (or Go ye, and take away your cousins’ bodies from the sanctuary, and take ye them away from the tents).

⁵ And anon they went, and took them, as they lay clothed with linen coats, and casted them out, as it was commanded to them. (And at once they went, and took them, as they lay clothed in their linen shirts, or in their linen robes, and cast them out, as it was commanded to them.)

⁶ And Moses spake to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron, Do not ye make naked your heads, and do not ye rend your clothes, lest peradventure ye die, and (the) indignation of God rise upon all the company; (but let) your brethren and all the house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath raised up. (And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons, Do not ye make your heads naked, and do not ye tear your clothes, lest ye die, and God’s indignation rise up against all the congregation; but let your brothers and all the house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath raised up.)

⁷ But ye shall not go out of the gates of the tabernacle, else ye shall perish; for the oil of holy anointing is on you, (or But ye shall not leave the entrance to the Tabernacle, for ye shall perish, for the Lord’s anointing oil is upon you). The which did all things by the behest of Moses.

⁸ Also the Lord said to Aaron, (And the Lord said to Aaron,)

⁹ Thou and thy sons shall not drink wine, and all thing that may make drunken, when ye shall enter into the tabernacle of witnessing, lest ye die; for it is everlasting behest into your generations, (Thou and thy sons shall not drink wine, or anything that can make ye drunk, when ye shall enter into the Tabernacle of the Witnessing, lest ye die; this is an everlasting law for all your generations,)

¹⁰ and that ye have knowing to make doom betwixt holy thing and unholy, betwixt polluted thing and clean; (so that ye can judge between holy and unholy things, and between unclean, and clean things;)

¹¹ and that ye teach the sons of Israel all my lawful things (or and that ye teach the Israelites all my laws), which the Lord spake to them by the hand of Moses.

¹² And Moses spake to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his (two) sons that were left, Take ye the sacrifice that (is) left of the offering of the Lord, and eat ye it without sourdough, beside the altar, for it is holy of holy things. (And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his two sons who were left, Take ye the grain offering that is left of the offerings to the Lord, and eat it without yeast, beside the altar, for it is a most holy, or sacred, thing.)

¹³ Soothly ye shall eat in the holy place that that is given to thee, and to thy sons, of the offerings of the Lord (or out of the offerings to the Lord), as it is commanded to me.

¹⁴ Also thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee, shall eat in the cleanest place the breast which is offered, and the shoulder which is separated; for those be kept to thee, and to thy free sons, of the healthful sacrifices of the sons of Israel; (And thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee, shall eat in the cleanest place the breast of the special gift, and the shoulder of the special contribution; for they be kept for thee, and for thy sons, out of the peace offerings of the Israelites;)

(for they raised up before the Lord the shoulder, and the breast, and the inner fat that shall be burned on the altar; and they pertain to thee, and to thy sons, by an everlasting law, as the Lord commanded.)

¹⁶ Among these things when Moses sought the goat buck that was offered for sin, he found it burnt, and he was wroth against Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons, that were left alive. And he said, (And then Moses inquired about the goat buck for the sin offering, and he found that it had already been burned, and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons, who were left alive. And he said,)

² And fier yede out fro the Lord, and deuouride hem, and thei weren deed bifor the Lord.

³ And Moises seide to Aaron, This thing it is which the Lord spak, Y schal be halewid in hem that neiyen to me, and Y schal be glorified in the siyt of al the puple; which thing Aaron herde, and was stille.

⁴ Sotheli whanne Moises hadde clepid Mysael and Elisaphan, the sones of Oziel, brother of Aaron's fadir, he seide to hem, Go ye, and take awey youre britheren fro the siyt of seyntuarie, and bere ye out of the castels.

⁵ And anoon thei yeden, and token hem, as thei laien clothid with lynnun cootis, and castiden out, as it was comaundid to hem.

⁶ And Moises spak to Aaron, and to Eliasar and Ithamar, the sones of Aaron, Nyle ye make nakid youre heedis, and nyle ye reende clothis, lest perauenture ye dien, and indignacioun rise on al the cumpany; youre britheren and all the hows of Israel byweile the brennyng which the Lord reiside.

⁷ But ye schulen not go out of the yatis of the tabernacle, ellis ye schulen perische; for the oile of hooli anoyntyng is on you. Whiche diden alle thingis bi the comaundement of Moises.

⁸ Also the Lord seide to Aaron,

⁹ Thou and thi sones schulen not drynke wyn, and al thing that may make drunkun, whanne ye schulen entre in to the tabernacle of witnessing, lest ye dien; for it is euerlastynge comaundement in to youre generaciouns,

¹⁰ that ye haue kunnyng to make doom bytwixe hooli thing and vnhooli, bitwixe pollutid thing and cleene;

¹¹ and that ye teche the sones of Israel alle my lawful thingis, whiche the Lord spak to hem bi the hond of Moyses.

¹² And Moises spak to Aaron, and to Eliazar and Ythamar, hise sones, that weren residue, Take ye the sacrifice that lefte of the offryng of the Lord, and ete ye it with out sour dow, bisidis the auter, for it is hooli `of the noumbre of hooli thingis.

¹³ Sotheli ye schulen ete in the hooli place that that is youun to thee and to thi sones, of the offryngis of the Lord, as it is comaundid to me Also thou,

¹⁴ and thi sones, and thi douytris with thee, schulen ete in the clenneste place the brest which is offrid, and the schuldur which is departid; for tho ben kept to thee and to thi fre sones, of the heelful sacrifices of the sones of Israel;

¹⁵ for thei reiseden bifor the Lord the schuldur and brest, and the ynnere fatnessis that ben brent in the auter; and perteynen tho to thee, and to thi sones, bi euerlastynge lawe, as the Lord comaundide.

¹⁶ Among these thingis whanne Moises souyte the `buk of geet that was offrid for synne, he foond it brent, and he was wrooth ayens Eliazar and Ythamar, `the sones of Aaron that weren left.

² and fire goeth out from before Jehovah, and consumeth them, and they die before Jehovah.

³ And Moses saith unto Aaron, 'It is that which Jehovah hath spoken, saying, By those drawing near to Me I am sanctified, and in the face of all the people I am honoured;' and Aaron is silent.

⁴ And Moses calleth unto Mishael and unto Elzaphan, sons of Uzziel, uncle of Aaron, and saith unto them, 'Come near, bear your brethren from the front of the sanctuary unto the outside of the camp;'

⁵ and they come near, and bear them in their coats unto the outside of the camp, as Moses hath spoken.

⁶ And Moses saith unto Aaron, and to Eleazar, and to Ithamar his sons, 'Your heads ye do not uncover, and your garments ye do not rend, that ye die not, and on all the company He be wroth; as to your brethren, the whole house of Israel, they bewail the burning which Jehovah hath kindled;

⁷ and from the opening of the tent of meeting ye do not go out, lest ye die, for the anointing oil of Jehovah is upon you;' and they do according to the word of Moses.

⁸ And Jehovah speaketh unto Aaron, saying,

⁹ 'Wine and strong drink thou dost not drink, thou, and thy sons with thee, in your going in unto the tent of meeting, and ye die not — a statute age-during to your generations;

¹⁰ so as to make a separation between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the pure;

¹¹ and to teach the sons of Israel all the statutes which Jehovah hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.'

¹² And Moses speaketh unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar, and unto Ithamar his sons, who are left, 'Take ye the present that is left from the fire-offerings of Jehovah, and eat it unleavened near the altar, for it is most holy,

¹³ and ye have eaten it in the holy place, for it is thy portion, and the portion of thy sons, from the fire-offerings of Jehovah; for so I have been commanded.

¹⁴ 'And the breast of the wave-offering, and the leg of the heave-offering, ye do eat in a clean place, thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee; for thy portion and the portion of thy sons they have been given, out of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the sons of Israel;

¹⁵ the leg of the heave-offering, and breast of the wave-offering, besides fire-offerings of the fat, they do bring in to wave a wave-offering before Jehovah, and it hath been to thee, and to thy sons with thee, by a statute age-during, as Jehovah hath commanded.'

¹⁶ And the goat of the sin-offering hath Moses diligently sought, and lo, it is burnt, and he is wroth against Eleazar, and against Ithamar, sons of Aaron, who are left, saying,
