John 15:11-23 in English

¹¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

¹² This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you.

¹³ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁴ Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you.

¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father I have made known unto you.

¹⁶ Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

¹⁷ These things I command you, that ye may love one another.

¹⁸ If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before it hated you.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

¹⁶ You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, so that you should go and bear fruit, and so that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name He may give you.

¹⁷ I command you this, that you sincerely love one another.

¹⁸ “If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you.

¹⁹ If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own. Because you aren’t the world’s, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²⁰ Remember that I told you, ‘A servant isn’t greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed my teaching, they will also obey yours.

²¹ The world will do all these things to you, however, for My name’s sake, because they don’t know Him who sent me.

²² If I hadn’t come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

²³ Whoever hates me also hates my Father.

¹² What I am commanding you is this: Love each other just like I have loved you.

¹³ The best way that people can show that they love someone is to die for that person. There is no way that you can love someone in a greater way than that.

¹⁴ You show that you are my friends if you keep doing what I have commanded you.

¹⁵ I will no longer call you my servants, because servants do not know why their masters want them to do things. Instead, I have said that you are my friends, because I, acting like a friend, have revealed to you everything that my Father told me.

¹⁶ You did not decide to become my disciples. Instead, I chose you, so that you would do many things that please him MET. The results of what you do will last forever. I also chose you so that my Father will do for you whatever you, using my authority, ask him to do MTY.

¹⁷ I repeat what I have commanded you: Love each other.”

¹⁸ “The people who are opposed to God will hate you. When that happens, remember that they hated me first.

¹⁹ If you belonged to those who are opposed to God MTY, they would love you like they love those who belong to them. But you do not belong to those who are opposed to God MTY. Instead, I chose you so that you would separate yourselves from MTY them. That is why those who are opposed to God MTY hate you.

²⁰ Remember these words that I told you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ That means that you, who are like my servants, cannot expect people to treat you better than they treat me. So, since they have ◄persecuted me/caused me to suffer►, they will ◄persecute you/cause you to suffer► also. If they had paid attention to the things I taught them, they would pay attention to what you teach them.

²¹ They will treat you like that because you belong to me MTY, and because they do not know the one who sent me.

²² If I had not come and spoken God's message to them, they would not be guilty of rejecting me and my message. But now I have come and told them God's message, so they will have no excuse when God judges them for their sin.

²³ All those who hate me, it is as though they hate my Father as well.

¹⁶ You did not take me for yourselves, but I took you for myself; and I gave you the work of going about and producing fruit which will be for ever; so that whatever request you make to the Father in my name he may give it to you.

¹⁷ So this is my law for you: Have love one for another.

¹⁸ If you are hated by the world, keep in mind that I was hated by the world before you.

¹⁹ If you were of the world, you would be loved by the world: but because you are not of the world, but I have taken you out of the world, you are hated by the world.

²⁰ Keep in mind the words I said to you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they were cruel to me, they will be cruel to you; if they kept my words, they will keep yours.

²¹ They will do all this to you because of my name — because they have no knowledge of him who sent me.

²² If I had not come and been their teacher they would have had no sin: but now they have no reason to give for their sin.

²³ He who has hate for me has hate for my Father.

¹¹ I have spoken these things to you that my joy may be in you, and your joy be full.

²³ The one who hates me hates my Father too.

¹¹ I've explained this to you so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

²¹ But everything they do to you will be because of me, for they don't know the one who sent me.

²³ Anyone who hates me hates my Father as well.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²¹ But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

²³ He who hates me, hates 'Avi ·my Father· also.

¹¹ These thinges have I spoken vnto you that my ioye myght remayne in you and that youre ioye might be full.

¹² This is my commaundement that ye love togedder as I have loved you.

¹³ Gretter love then this hath no man then that a man bestowe his lyfe for his frendes.

¹⁴ Ye are my fredes yf ye do whatsoever I commaunde you.

¹⁵ Hence forth call I you not servauntes: for the servaunt knoweth not what his Lorde doeth. But you have I called frendes: for all thinges that I have hearde of my father I have opened to you.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordeyned you that ye go and bringe forthe frute and that youre frute remayne that whatsoever ye shall axe of the father in my name he shulde geve it you.

¹⁷ This commaunde I you that ye love to gedder.

¹⁸ Yf the worlde hate you ye knowe that he hated me before he hated you.

¹⁹ Yf ye were of the worlde the worlde wolde love his awne. How be it because ye are not of the worlde but I have chosen you out of the worlde therfore hateth you the worlde.
