²² The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

²³ There was at the table reclining in Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, and saith unto him, Tell us who it is of whom he speaketh.

²⁵ He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

²⁶ Jesus therefore answereth, He it is, for whom I shall dip the sop, and give it him. So when he had dipped the sop, he taketh and giveth it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

²⁷ And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, What thou doest, do quickly.

²⁸ Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

²⁹ For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus said unto him, Buy what things we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

³⁰ He then having received the sop went out straightway: and it was night.

³¹ When therefore he was gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him;

³² and God shall glorify him in himself, and straightway shall he glorify him.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say unto you.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

³⁵ By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

³⁶ Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow afterwards.

³⁷ Peter saith unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my life for thee.

³⁸ Jesus answereth, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

²² The disciples began looking at one another, perplexed about which one of them He was talking about.

²³ One of Jesus’ disciples, who Jesus sincerely loved, was leaning against His breast.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore nodded to him to ask who He spoke about.

²⁵ Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he asked Him, “Lord, who is it?”

²⁶ Jesus answered, “It is he who I will give a morsel to when I have dipped it.” Having dipped the morsel, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son.

²⁷ After the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus therefore told him, “What you do, do quickly.”

²⁸ None of those reclining at the table knew why He had said this to him.

²⁹ Some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy the things we need for the feast”; or else, that he should give something to the poor.

³⁰ Having received the morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.

³¹ When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.

³² If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately.

³³ Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will look for me, and as I told the Jews, I now tell you, also, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come.’

³⁴ I give to you a new commandment, that you sincerely love one another, even as I have sincerely loved you, so you should also sincerely love one another.

³⁵ By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have sincere love for one another.”

³⁶ Simon Peter asked Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered, “Where I go, you aren’t able to follow me now, but you will follow later.”

³⁷ Peter asked Him, “Lord, why can’t I follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You.”

³⁸ Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for my sake? Most assuredly, I tell you, the rooster won’t crow until you have denied me three times.

²² We looked at each other. We had no way to know whom he was talking about.

²³ I, the man other people call ❛the one Jesus loved❜, was sitting very close to Jesus.

²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to me to indicate that I should ask Jesus whom he was talking about.

²⁵ So I leaned close to Jesus and asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

²⁶ Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread after I dip it in the sauce in the dish.” Then, to show us that he knew who would enable his enemies to seize him, after he dipped the bread in the sauce, he gave it to Judas ◄Iscariot/the man from Kerioth village►.

²⁷ As soon as Judas ate the bread, Satan took control of him. Then Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”

²⁸ But none of the rest of us who were sitting there knew why Jesus said that to him.

²⁹ Since Judas took care of the money people gave us to help us, some thought Jesus was telling him to go and buy some things we needed for the Passover celebration. Some thought he was telling him to give some money to poor people.

³⁰ As soon as Judas had eaten the bread, he left. It was dark outside, and it was dark MET in his soul, too.

³¹ After Judas left, Jesus said, “Now it will be shown { my Father will show} how wonderful I, the one who came from heaven, am. And by what I do it will be seen {people will see} how great God is.

³² Since by what I do people will see how awesome God is, God himself will show people how awesome I am. And he will do that very soon.

³³ You whom I love as though you were my children, I will continue with you only a short time longer. Then you will look for me, but I will not be here. Just like I told the Jewish leaders SYN, I am telling you now, that where I am going, you cannot come yet.

³⁴ Now I am giving you a new commandment: You must love each other. You must love each other in the way that I have loved you.

³⁵ If you keep loving each other, everyone who is aware of that HYP will know that you are my disciples.”

³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “The place where I am going, you cannot come with me now, but you will come there later.”

³⁷ Peter said, “Lord, why can I not come with you now? I am ready to die for you!”

³⁸ Jesus answered, “ You say RHQ that you are ready to die for me. But the truth is that before the rooster crows early tomorrow morning, you will say three times that you do not know me!”

²² Then the eyes of the disciples were turned on one another, in doubt as to whom he had in mind.

²³ There was at table one of his disciples, the one dear to Jesus, resting his head on Jesus' breast.

²⁴ Making a sign to him, Simon Peter said, Who is it he is talking about?

²⁵ He, then, resting his head on Jesus' breast, said to him, Lord, who is it?

²⁶ This was the answer Jesus gave: It is the one to whom I will give this bit of bread after I have put it in the vessel. Then he took the bit of bread, put it into the vessel, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

²⁷ And when Judas took the bread Satan went into him. Then Jesus said to him, Do quickly what you have to do.

²⁸ Now it was not clear to anyone at table why he said this to him.

²⁹ Some were of the opinion that because Judas kept the money-bag Jesus said to him, Get the things we have need of for the feast; or, that he was to give something to the poor.

³⁰ So Judas, having taken the bit of bread, straight away went out: and it was night.

³¹ Then when he had gone out, Jesus said, Now is glory given to the Son of man, and God is given glory in him.

³² If God is given glory in him, God will give him glory in himself, and will give him glory even now.

³³ My dear children, I am only to be with you a little longer. Then you will be looking for me: and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you, Where I am going you may not come.

³⁴ I give you a new law: Have love one for another; even as I have had love for you, so are you to have love one for another.

³⁵ By this it will be clear to all men that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, Lord, where are you going? Jesus said in answer, Where I am going you may not come with me now, but you will come later.

³⁷ Peter said to him, Why may I not come with you even now? I will give up my life for you.

³⁸ Jesus said in answer, Will you give up your life for me? Truly I say to you, Before the cry of the cock you will have said three times that you are not my disciple.

²⁶ Jesus answers, He it is to whom I, after I have dipped the morsel, give it. And having dipped the morsel, he gives it to Judas son of Simon, Iscariote.

²⁷ And, after the morsel, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore says to him, What thou doest, do quickly.

²² So the disciples started looking at each other, at a loss as to whom He meant.

²³ Now one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining beside Jesus' bosom.

²⁴ So Simon Peter motions to him to inquire whom it might be that He was referring to.

²⁵ And leaning back against Jesus' breast he says to Him, “Lord, who is it?”

²⁶ Jesus answers, “It is the one to whom I will give the piece of dunked bread.” And dunking the bread He gives it to Judas Iscariot, Simon's son.

²⁷ And after the sop, then Satan entered into him. Whereupon Jesus says to him, “What you are doing, do quickly!”

²⁸ (Now none of those reclining at the table knew why He said this to him.

²⁹ Since Judas had the money box, some supposed that Jesus was telling him to buy what they needed for the feast, or to give something to the poor.)

³⁰ So having received the sop, immediately he went out. And it was night.

³¹ When he had gone out Jesus says: “Now the Son of the Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in Him.

³² Since God has been glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him with Himself, and He will do so presently.

³³ “Little children, I am with you just a little longer. You will look for me, and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going you cannot come,’ so now I say to you.

³⁴ “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you—that you also love one another.

³⁵ By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

³⁸ Jesus answered him: “You will lay down your life for my sake? Most assuredly I say to you, no rooster can crow until you have denied me three times!

²³ The disciple whom Jesus loved was sitting next to Jesus at the table, leaning close him.

²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus which one he was talking about.

²⁵ So he leaned over to Jesus and asked, “Lord, who is it?”

²⁶ Jesus replied, “It's the one to whom I will give a piece of bread after I have dipped it.”

²⁷ After dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. Once Judas had taken the bread, Satan entered him. “What you're going to do, do it quickly,” Jesus told him.

²⁸ No one at the table understood what Jesus meant by this.

²⁹ Since Judas was in charge of the money some of them thought that Jesus was telling him to go and buy what was needed for the Passover festival, or to donate something to the poor.

³⁰ Judas left immediately after he'd taken the piece of bread, and went out into the night.

³¹ After he'd left, Jesus said, “Now the Son of man is glorified, and through him God is glorified.

³² If God is glorified through him, then God will glorify the Son himself, and will glorify him immediately.

³³ My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. You will look for me, but I'm telling you now just as I told the Jews: you cannot come where I'm going.

³⁴ I am giving you a new command: Love one another. Love one another in the same way I have loved you.

³⁵ If you love one another you will prove to everyone that you are my disciples.”

³⁶ Simon Peter asked him, “Where are you going, Lord?” Jesus answered, “You can't follow me now where I'm going. You will follow me later.”

³¹ Therefore when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now man’s Son is clarified, and God is clarified in him.

³² If God is clarified in him, and God shall clarify him in himself, and anon he shall clarify him.

³³ Little sons, yet a little I am with you; ye shall seek me, and, as I said to the Jews, Whither I go, ye may not come; and to you I say now.

³⁴ I give to you a new commandment, that ye love together, as I have loved you, and that ye love together.

³⁵ In this thing all men shall know, that ye be my disciples, if ye have love together.

³⁶ Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, Whither I go, thou mayest not pursue me now, but thou shalt pursue me afterward.

³⁷ Peter saith to him, Why may I not pursue thee now? I shall put my life for thee.

³⁸ Jesus answered, Thou shalt put thy life for me? Truly, truly, I say to thee, the cock shall not crow, till thou shalt deny me thrice.

²² Therefore the disciples looked (around) together, doubting of whom he said.

²³ And so one of his disciples was resting in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved. (And one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was sitting close beside Jesus.)

²⁴ Therefore Simon Peter beckoned to him, and said to him, Who is it, of whom he saith?

²⁵ And so when he had rested again on the breast of Jesus, he saith to him, Lord, who is it? (And so when he was close beside Jesus again, he asked him, Lord, who is it?)

²⁶ Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall areach a sop of bread. And when he had wet bread or And when he had dipped in (some) bread, he gave (it) to Judas of Simon Iscariot.

²⁷ And after the morsel, then Satan entered into him. And Jesus saith to him, That thing that thou doest, do thou swiftly.

²⁸ And none of them that sat at the meat knew (or And none of those who sat at the meal knew), whereto or what thing he said to him.

²⁹ For some guessed, for Judas had (the) purses, that Jesus had said to him, Buy thou those things, that be needful to us to the feast day, (or Go and buy for us those things, that we need for the Feast Day or for the Festival), or that he should give something to needy men.

³⁰ Therefore when he had taken the morsel, he went out anon (or he left at once); and it was night.

³¹ Therefore when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now man’s Son is clarified, and God is clarified in him. (And so when Judas had gone out, Jesus said, Now man’s Son is glorified, and God is glorified in him.)

³² If God is clarified in him, and God shall clarify him in himself, and anon (or at once) he shall clarify him. (If God is glorified in him, then God shall glorify him in himself, and he shall glorify him now.)

³⁷ Peter saith to him, Why may I not (pur)sue thee now? I shall put (forth) my life for thee. (Peter said to him, Why can I not follow thee now? I shall lay down my life for thee.)

³⁸ Jesus answered, Thou shalt put (forth) (or lay down) thy life for me? Truly, truly, I say to thee, (or Truly, I tell thee the truth), the cock shall not crow, till thou shalt deny me thrice.

²² Therfor the disciplis lokiden togidere, doutynge of whom he seide.

²³ And so oon of hise disciplis was restynge in the bosum of Jhesu, whom Jhesu louede.

²⁴ Therfor Symount Petre bikeneth to hym, `and seith to hym, Who is it, of whom he seith?

²⁵ And so whanne he hadde restid ayen on the brest of Jhesu, he seith to hym, Lord, who is it?

²⁶ Jhesus answerde, He it is, to whom Y schal areche a sop of breed. And whanne he hadde wet breed, he yaf to Judas of Symount Scarioth.

²⁷ And aftir the mussel, thanne Sathanas entride in to hym. And Jhesus seith to hym, That thing that thou doist, do thou swithe.

²⁸ And noon of hem that saten at the mete wiste, wherto he seide to hym.

²⁹ For summe gessiden, for Judas hadde pursis, that Jhesus hadde seid to hym, Bie thou tho thingis, that ben nedeful to vs to the feeste dai, or that he schulde yyue sum thing to nedi men.

³⁰ Therfor whanne he hadde takun the mussel, he wente out anoon; and it was nyyt.

³⁴ Y yyue to you a newe maundement, that ye loue togidir, as Y louede you, `and that ye loue togidir.

³⁵ In this thing alle men schulen knowe, that ye ben my disciplis, if ye han loue togidere.

³⁶ Symount Petre seith to hym, Lord, whidur goist thou? Jhesus answeride, Whidur Y go, thou mayst not sue me now, but thou schalt sue afterward.

³⁷ Petre seith to hym, Whi may Y not sue thee now? Y schal putte my lijf for thee.

³⁸ Jhesus answeride, Thou schalt putte thi lijf for me? Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, the cok schal not crowe, til thou schalt denye me thries. And he seith to hise disciplis.

²² the disciples were looking, therefore, one at another, doubting concerning whom he speaketh.

²³ And there was one of his disciples reclining (at meat) in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;

²⁴ Simon Peter, then, doth beckon to this one, to inquire who he may be concerning whom he speaketh,

²⁵ and that one having leant back on the breast of Jesus, respondeth to him, 'Sir, who is it?'

²⁶ Jesus answereth, 'That one it is to whom I, having dipped the morsel, shall give it;' and having dipped the morsel, he giveth it to Judas of Simon, Iscariot.

²⁷ And after the morsel, then the Adversary entered into that one, Jesus, therefore, saith to him, 'What thou dost — do quickly;'

²⁸ and none of those reclining at meat knew for what intent he said this to him,

²⁹ for certain were thinking, since Judas had the bag, that Jesus saith to him, 'Buy what we have need of for the feast;' or that he may give something to the poor;

³⁰ having received, therefore, the morsel, that one immediately went forth, and it was night.

³¹ When, therefore, he went forth, Jesus saith, 'Now was the Son of Man glorified, and God was glorified in him;

³² if God was glorified in him, God also will glorify him in Himself; yea, immediately He will glorify him.

³³ 'Little children, yet a little am I with you; ye will seek me, and, according as I said to the Jews — Whither I go away, ye are not able to come, to you also I do say it now.

³⁴ 'A new commandment I give to you, that ye love one another; according as I did love you, that ye also love one another;

³⁵ in this shall all know that ye are my disciples, if ye may have love one to another.'

³⁶ Simon Peter saith to him, 'Sir, whither dost thou go away?' Jesus answered him, 'Whither I go away, thou art not able now to follow me, but afterward thou shalt follow me.'

³⁷ Peter saith to him, 'Sir, wherefore am I not able to follow thee now? my life for thee I will lay down;'

³⁸ Jesus answered him, 'Thy life for me thou wilt lay down! verily, verily, I say to thee, a cock will not crow till thou mayest deny me thrice.'
