Acts 14:1-4 in English

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

² But the Jews that were disobedient stirred up the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil affected against the brethren.

³ Long time therefore they tarried there speaking boldly in the Lord, who bare witness unto the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

⁴ But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

³ Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

⁴ But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

¹ At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish meeting place and spoke very convincingly about the Lord Jesus. As a result, many Jews and also non-Jews believed in Jesus.

² But some of the Jews refused to believe that message, and told the non-Jews not to believe it. They told the non-Jewish people that the message about Jesus was not true. As a result, some of the non-Jews became angry towards the believers there.

³ So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there speaking boldly for the Lord, and the Lord Jesus enabled them to do many miracles. In this way he showed people that the message about how the Lord saves us in a way that we do not deserve is true.

⁴ The people who lived in Iconium city strongly disagreed with each other concerning the message about Jesus . Some of them agreed with the Jews SYN who did not believe that message . Others agreed with Paul and Barnabas.

³ So they kept there for a long time, taking heart in the Lord, who gave witness to the word of his grace by causing signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

⁴ But there was a division among the people of the town; some were on the side of the Jews and some on the side of the Apostles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude of both Jews and Greeks believed.

² But the Jews who did not believe stirred up the minds of those of the nations and made them evil-affected against the brethren.

³ They stayed therefore a good while, speaking boldly, confiding in the Lord, who gave witness to the word of his grace, giving signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

⁴ And the multitude of the city was divided, and some were with the Jews and some with the apostles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a very great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks did believe.

² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up and incensed the minds of the Gentiles against the brethren.

³ A long time therefore they abode there, dealing confidently in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

⁴ And the multitude of the city was divided; and some of them indeed held with the Jews, but some with the apostles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium that they went in together into the synagogue of the Jews, and they spoke in a way so that a great multitude, both of the Jews and of the Greeks, believed.

² But the disbelieving Jews aroused and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.

³ Therefore they spent a considerable time there, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, giving signs and wonders to take place by their hands.

⁴ And the multitude of the city was divided: and some were with the Jews, and others with the apostles.

¹ Now it happened in Iconium that they went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and they spoke to such effect that a large number of both Jews and Greeks believed.

² But the disobedient Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.

³ Even so they stayed there a considerable time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, giving signs and wonders to take place by their hands.

⁴ Well the population of the city became divided; some sided with the Jews, others with the apostles.

¹ In Iconium the same thing happened. Paul and Barnabas went to the Jewish synagogue and spoke so convincingly that many of both the Jewish and Greek-speaking worshipers trusted in Jesus.

² But the Jews that refused to believe in Jesus stirred up the feelings of the foreigners, and poisoned them against the believers.

³ Paul and Barnabas stayed there a long time, speaking to them boldly in the Lord, who confirmed their message of grace through the miraculous signs that they were enabled to perform.

⁴ The inhabitants of the town were divided, with some supporting the Jews and some the apostles.

¹ And it came to passe in Iconium, that they went both together into the Synagogue of the Iewes, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Iewes and of the Grecians beleeued.

² And the vnbeleeuing Iewes stirred vp, and corrupted the mindes of the Gentiles against the brethren.

³ So therefore they abode there a long time, and spake boldly in the Lord, which gaue testimonie vnto the woord of his grace, and caused signes and woders to be done by their hands.

⁴ But the multitude of the city was deuided: and some were with the Iewes, and some with the Apostles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

³ Therefore Paul and Barnabas spent a long time there, and spoke out fearlessly, relying on the Lord, who confirmed the message of his love by permitting signs and wonders to take place at their hands.

⁴ But the townspeople were divided, some siding with the Jews, some with the apostles;

¹ The same thing occurred in Iconium, where Paul and Barnabas went into the Jewish synagogue, and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed in Christ.

² But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles, and poisoned their minds against the Lord's followers.

³ Therefore Paul and Barnabas spent a long time there, and spoke out fearlessly, relying on the Lord, who confirmed the message of his love by permitting signs and wonders to take place at their hands.

⁴ But the townspeople were divided, some siding with the Jews, some with the apostles;

¹ The same thing happened in the town called Iconium. Paul and Barnabas went to the Jewish teaching house and they talked strongly about Jesus to the people there. They stayed in Iconium a long time telling people about Jesus, and they were not frightened of anyone. God helped Paul and Barnabas do powerful things, and this showed that they were telling the true story about Jesus, that he is very good to people. And a big mob of people believed everything Paul and Barnabas told them. Some of them were Jews and some were not Jews. But some other Jews didn’t believe in Jesus and they talked to some local men and got them to hate the Christians.

⁴ The people of Iconium split up into 2 mobs. One mob reckoned Paul and Barnabas were right and the other mob reckoned the Jews that didn’t believe in Jesus were right.

¹ And it fortuned in Iconium that they went both to gether into the synagoge of the Iewes and so spake that a gret multitude both of the Iewes and also of the Grekes beleved.

² But the unbelevinge Iewes steryd vp and vnquyeted the myndes of the Gentyls agaynste the brethren.

³ Longe tyme a bode they there and quyt them selves boldly with the helpe of the Lorde the which gave testimony vnto the worde of his grace and caused signes and wondres to be done by their hondes.

⁴ The people of the cyte were devided: and parte helde with the Iewes and parte with the Apostles.

¹ It came about in Iconium that Paul and Barnabas entered together into the synagogue of the Jews and spoke in such a way that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

² But the Jews who were disobedient stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and made them bitter against the brothers.

³ So they stayed there for a long time, speaking boldly with the Lord's power, while he gave evidence about the message of his grace. He did this by granting signs and wonders to be done by the hands of Paul and Barnabas.

⁴ But the majority of the city was divided: some people sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

¹ In Iconium, they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.

² But the disbelieving Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.

⁴ But the multitude of the city was parted, and some were with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

² But the Jews that were unbelieveful, raised persecution, and stirred to wrath the souls of (the) heathen men against the brethren; but the Lord gave soon peace (or but the Lord soon gave peace).

³ Therefore they dwelled much time, and did trustily in the Lord, bearing witnessing to the word of his grace (or testifying to the message of his grace), giving signs (or miracles) and wonders to be made by the hands of them.

³ long time, indeed, therefore, did they abide speaking boldly in the Lord, who is testifying to the word of His grace, and granting signs and wonders to come to pass through their hands.
