³² And we bring you good tidings of the promise made unto the fathers,

³³ that God hath fulfilled the same unto our children, in that he raised up Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

³⁴ And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he hath spoken on this wise, I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.

³⁵ Because he saith also in another psalm, Thou wilt not give thy Holy One to see corruption.

³⁶ For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

³⁷ but he whom God raised up saw no corruption.

³⁸ Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins:

³⁹ and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁴⁰ Beware therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets:

⁴¹ Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish; For I work a work in your days, A work which ye shall in no wise believe, if one declare it unto you.

⁴² And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spoken to them the next sabbath.

⁴³ Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.

⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spake out boldly, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee for a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth.

⁴⁸ And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was spread abroad throughout all the region.

⁵⁰ But the Jews urged on the devout women of honorable estate, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their borders.

³² And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

³³ God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

³⁴ And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

³⁵ Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

³⁶ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

³⁷ But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

³⁸ Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

³⁹ And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁴⁰ Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

⁴¹ Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

⁴² And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

⁴³ Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

³² “ Right now we two are proclaiming to you this good message. We want to tell you that God has fulfilled what he promised to our Jewish ancestors!

³³ He has now done that for us (inc) who are their descendants, and also for you who are not Jews, by causing Jesus to live again. That is just like what David wrote in the second Psalm that God said when he was sending his Son, You (sg) are my Son; Today I have shown everyone that I really am your Father.

³⁴ God has ◄raised the Messiah from the dead/caused the Messiah to live again after he had died► and will never let him die again. Concerning that, God said to our Jewish ancestors, ‘I will surely help you, as I promised David that I would do.’

³⁵ So in writing another Psalm, David said this to God about the Messiah: ‘Because I am devoted to you and always obey you, when I die you (sg) will not let my body decay.’

³⁶ While David was living, he did what God wanted him to do. And when he died EUP, his body was buried, as his ancestors' bodies had been buried, and his body decayed. So he could not have been speaking about himself in this Psalm.

³⁷ Instead, he was speaking about Jesus. Jesus also died, but God ◄raised him from the dead/caused him to live again►, and therefore his body did not decay.”

³⁸ “Therefore, my fellow Israelis and other friends, it is important for you to know that we(exc) are declaring to you that God can forgive you for your sins as a result of what Jesus has done. Because of what Jesus has done, God considers that everyone who believes in Jesus is no longer guilty (OR, the record has been erased { God has erased the record}) concerning everything that they have done that displeased God. But when God does that for you, it is not as a result of your obeying the laws that Moses wrote.

⁴⁰ Therefore be careful that God does not judge you MTY, as one of the prophets said MTY that God would do!

⁴¹ The prophet wrote that God said, You who ridicule me, you will certainly be astonished when you see what I am doing, and then you will be destroyed. You will be astonished because I will do something terrible to you while you are living. You would not believe that I would do that even though someone told you!”

⁴² After Paul finished speaking, while he and Barnabas were leaving the Jewish meeting place, many of the people there repeatedly requested that on the next ◄Sabbath/Jewish day of rest► the two of them should speak to them again about those things that Paul had just told them.

⁴³ After they began to leave that meeting, many of them went along with Paul and Barnabas. They consisted of Jews and also of non-Jews who had accepted the things that the Jews believe. Paul and Barnabas continued talking to them, and were urging them to continue believing the message that God kindly forgives people's sins because of what Jesus did.

⁴⁴ On the next Jewish rest day, most of the people in Antioch came to the Jewish meeting place to hear Paul and Barnabas speak about the Lord Jesus.

⁴⁵ But the leaders of SYN the Jews became extremely jealous, because they saw that large crowds of non-Jewish people were coming to hear Paul and Barnabas. So they began to contradict the things that Paul was saying and also to insult him.

⁴⁶ Then, speaking very boldly, Paul and Barnabas said to those Jewish leaders, “ We two had to speak the message from God about Jesus to you Jews first before we proclaim it to non-Jews, because God commanded us to do that. But you are rejecting God's message. By doing that, you have shown that you are not worthy ◄to have eternal life/to live eternally with God►. Therefore, we are leaving you, and now we will go to the non-Jewish people to tell them the message from God.

⁴⁷ We are doing that also because the Lord God has commanded us to do it. He said to us, ‘I have appointed you to reveal things about me to non-Jewish people MET that will be like a light to them. I have appointed you to tell people everywhere MTY in the world about the one who came to save them.’ ”

⁴⁸ While the non-Jewish people were listening to those words, they began to rejoice, and they repeatedly said that the message about the Lord Jesus was wonderful. And all of the non-Jewish people whom God had chosen ◄to have eternal life/to live eternally with God► believed the message about the Lord Jesus.

⁴⁹ At that time, many of the believers traveled around throughout that region. As they did that, they were proclaiming the message about the Lord Jesus MTY.

⁵⁰ However, some leaders of SYN the Jews incited the most important men in the city, and some important/influential women who had accepted what the Jews believe, to oppose Paul and Barnabas. So those non-Jewish people incited other people also to persecute Paul and Barnabas. As a result they expelled the two men from their region.

³³ Which God has now put into effect for our children, by sending Jesus; as it says in the second Psalm, You are my Son; this day I have given you being.

³⁴ And about his coming back from the dead, never again to go to destruction, he has said these words, I will give you the holy and certain mercies of David.

³⁵ Because he says in another Psalm, You will not let your Holy One see destruction.

³⁶ Now David, having done God's work for his generation, went to sleep, and was put with his fathers, and his body came to destruction:

³⁷ But he, who was lifted up by God, did not see destruction.

³⁸ And so, let it be clear to you, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is offered to you:

³⁹ And through him everyone who has faith is made free from all those things, from which the law of Moses was not able to make you free.

⁴⁰ So take care that these words of the prophets do not come true for you;

⁴¹ See, you doubters, have wonder and come to your end; for I will do a thing in your days to which you will not give belief, even if it is made clear to you.

⁴² And when they went out, they made a request that these words might be said to them again on the Sabbath after.

⁴³ Now when the meeting was ended, a number of the Jews and of the God-fearing Gentiles who had become Jews, went after Paul and Barnabas: who put before them how important it was to keep on in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ And on the Sabbath after, almost all the town came together to give hearing to the word of God.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw such a great number of people, they were full of envy and said evil words against Paul's preaching.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas without fear said, It was necessary for the word of God to be given to you first; but because you will have nothing to do with it, and have no desire for eternal life, it will now be offered to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord has given us orders, saying, I have given you for a light to the Gentiles so that you may be for salvation to the ends of the earth.

⁴⁸ And the Gentiles, hearing this, were glad and gave glory to the word of God: and those marked out by God for eternal life had faith.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord went through all the country.

⁵⁰ But the Jews, working up the feelings of the God-fearing women of high position and of the chief men of the town, got an attack started against Paul and Barnabas, driving them out of those parts.

³⁴ But that he raised him from among the dead, no more to return to corruption, he spoke thus: I will give to you the faithful mercies of David.

³⁵ Wherefore also he says in another, Thou wilt not suffer thy gracious one to see corruption.

³⁶ For David indeed, having in his own generation ministered to the will of God, fell asleep, and was added to his fathers and saw corruption.

³⁷ But he whom God raised up did not see corruption.

³⁸ Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, that through this man remission of sins is preached to you,

³⁹ and from all things from which ye could not be justified in the law of Moses, in him every one that believes is justified.

⁴⁰ See therefore that that which is spoken in the prophets do not come upon you,

⁴¹ Behold, ye despisers, and wonder and perish; for I work a work in your days, a work which ye will in no wise believe if one declare it to you.

⁴² And as they went out they begged that these words might be spoken to them the ensuing sabbath.

⁴³ And the congregation of the synagogue having broken up, many of the Jews and of the worshipping proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ And on the coming sabbath almost all the city was gathered together to hear the word of God.

⁴⁵ But the Jews, seeing the crowds, were filled with envy, and contradicted the things said by Paul, contradicting and speaking injuriously.

⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but, since ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the nations;

⁴⁷ for thus has the Lord enjoined us: I have set thee for a light of the nations, that thou shouldest be for salvation to the end of the earth.

⁴⁸ And those of the nations, hearing it, rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord, and believed, as many as were ordained to eternal life.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was carried through the whole country.

⁵⁰ But the Jews excited the women of the upper classes who were worshippers, and the first people of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their coasts.

³⁴ And to shew that he raised him up from the dead, not to return now any more to corruption, he said thus: I will give you the holy things of David faithful.

³⁵ And therefore, in another place also, he saith: Thou shalt not suffer thy holy one to see corruption.

³⁶ For David, when he had served in his generation, according to the will of God, slept: and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.

⁴⁵ And the Jews seeing the multitudes, were filled with envy, and contradicted those things which were said by Paul, blaspheming.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas said boldly: To you it behoved us first to speak the word of God: but because you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord hath commanded us: I have set thee to be the light of the Gentiles; that thou mayest be for salvation unto the utmost part of the earth.

⁴⁸ And the Gentiles hearing it, were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to life everlasting, believed.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was published throughout the whole country.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up religious and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas: and cast them out of their coasts.

³² And we proclaim to you the good news of the promise which was made to the fathers,

³³ that God has fulfilled this promise for us to their children, when He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.’

³⁴ And that He raised Him from the dead, no longer being about to return to corruption, thus He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’

³⁵ Therefore also in another Psalm He says, ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

³⁶ “For David indeed in his own generation, having served by the purpose of God, died, and was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

³⁷ but He whom God raised up did not see corruption.

³⁸ Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this Man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

³⁹ and from all things from which you could not (by the Law of Moses) be justified, by Him everyone that believes is justified.

⁴⁰ Watch therefore, lest there come upon you that which was spoken of in the prophets:

⁴¹ ‘Behold, you despisers, and marvel and perish! For I will work a work in your days which you will by no means believe, though one were to declare it to you.’ ”

⁴² Now as the Jews were going out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.

⁴³ And when the synagogue service was broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ On the coming Sabbath, almost all the city was assembled to hear the word of God.

⁴⁵ And the Jews, seeing the crowds, were filled with jealousy and spoke against the things being said by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly said, “It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken to you first; but since you thrust it away, and judge yourselves not worthy of eternal life; behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you to be a light of the nations, that you should be for salvation to the end of the earth.’ ”

⁴⁸ Now when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.

⁵⁰ But the Jews incited the devout and prominent women and the leading men of the city, and raised up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out from their borders.

³² “Yes we proclaim to you the good news: the promise that was made to the fathers,

³³ God has fulfilled the same to us, their children, when He raised up Jesus; as also it stands written in the second Psalm: ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’

³⁴ And that He raised Him from the dead, no longer to return to corruption, He has spoken thus, ‘I will give you the holy things guaranteed to David.’

³⁵ Further, it is stated elsewhere, ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.’

³⁶ Now David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw decay;

³⁷ but the One whom God raised up did not see decay.

³⁸ Therefore, let it be known to you, men, brothers, that through this One forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you;

³⁹ and by Him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the Law of Moses.

⁴⁰ So take care, lest there come upon you that which has been spoken in the prophets:

⁴¹ ‘Look you despisers, marvel and perish! For I am working a work in your days to which you will not give credence, even if someone were to explain it in detail to you.’ ”

⁴² Now as the Jews were going out of the synagogue, the Gentiles implored repeatedly that these words might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.

⁴³ The synagogue service having been dismissed, many of the Jews and the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who started addressing them, urging them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ Well the next Sabbath almost the whole city was gathered to hear the Word of God.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with envy and started speaking against the things said by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas speaking boldly said: “It was necessary that God's Word should be spoken to you first. But since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, now we are being turned to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ Because that is just how the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you to be a light for ethnic nations, that you should be for salvation up to the last place on earth.’ ”

⁴⁸ Now upon hearing this, the Gentiles rejoiced and glorified the Word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal live believed.

⁴⁹ Well the Word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, and raised up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their borders.

³² We are here to bring to you the good news of the promise that God made to our forefathers,

³³ that he has now fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus from the dead. As it is written in Psalm 2: ‘You are my Son; today I have become your Father.’

³⁴ God raised him from the dead, never to die again, as he indicated by saying, ‘I will give you what is holy and trustworthy, as I promised to David.’

³⁵ As another psalm says, ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.’

³⁶ But David died, after he had done what God wanted in his own time, and he was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.

³⁷ The one God raised from the dead saw no decay.

³⁸ My brothers, I want you to understand that we're telling you that through this man sins are forgiven.

³⁹ Through him everyone who trusts in him is made morally right from all that is wrong—in a way that you could never be set right by the law of Moses.

⁴⁰ Make sure that what the prophets said doesn't happen to you:

⁴¹ ‘You who are scornful, look in amazement, and die! For what I'm doing in your lifetime is something that you could never believe, even if someone told you!’”

⁴² As they were leaving, the people pleaded with them to tell them more the next Sabbath.

⁴³ After the meeting in the synagogue, many of the Jews and the converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas who spoke with them, encouraging them to continue to hold on to the grace of God.

⁴⁴ The following Sabbath almost the whole town turned out to hear the word of God.

⁴⁵ However, when the Jews saw the crowds, they became extremely jealous, contradicting what Paul was saying and cursing him.

⁴⁶ So Paul and Barnabas spoke out strongly, saying “We had to speak the word of God to you first. But now that you're rejecting it—you're deciding that you're not worthy of eternal life—well now we're turning to the foreigners.

⁴⁷ That's what the Lord has told us to do: ‘I've made you a light to the foreigners, and through you salvation will go to the ends of the earth.’”

⁴⁸ When the foreigners heard this they were overjoyed, praising the Lord's word, and all those chosen for eternal life trusted in God.

⁴⁹ So God's word was spread throughout the region.

⁵⁰ But the Jews incited the prominent religious women and leaders of the city to persecute Paul and Barnabas, and had them expelled from their territory.

³² And we declare vnto you, that touching the promise made vnto the fathers,

³³ God hath fulfilled it vnto vs their children, in that he raised vp Iesus, euen as it is written in the seconde Psalme, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.

³⁴ Nowe as concerning that he raised him vp from the dead, no more to returne to corruption, he hath said thus, I wil giue you the holy things of Dauid, which are faithfull.

³⁵ Wherefore hee sayeth also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine Holy one to see corruption.

³⁶ Howbeit, Dauid after hee had serued his time by the counsell of God, hee slept, and was laid with his fathers, and sawe corruption.

³⁷ But he whom God raised vp, sawe no corruption.

³⁸ Be it knowen vnto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached vnto you the forgiuenesse of sinnes.

³⁹ And from al things, from which ye could not be iustified by the Law of Moses, by him euery one that beleeueth, is iustified.

³² And we are telling you the same good news about Jesus. You see, a long time ago God promised our grand-fathers that he will do something good for them,

³³ and now God did it for us, their grand-kids. He made Jesus alive again. You see, we can read it in God’s book, in the part called Psalm number 2. We can read that God said, ‘You are my son. Now people will know that I am your Father.’

³⁴ You see, God made Jesus alive, and he will never rot in the grave. We know this is right because we can read that God told his son, ‘I made special promises to David, and I’m making those same promises to you.’

³⁵ And there is another psalm that David wrote, and in it God said, ‘You will not let your special person rot in the grave.’

³⁶ But God was not saying that about David. You see, at that time, David lived for God, and then he died, and people buried him next to his grand-fathers. His body rotted in that grave.

³⁷ But Jesus’s body didn’t rot in a grave. God made him alive again. So God didn’t say those words about David. He said them about Jesus.

³⁸ You see, my friends I’m telling you this message. Jesus died for us, so if we believe in him God will not say we are guilty for the bad things we did. The law that Moses gave us can’t make us right and good, so that God will not say we are guilty. But if anyone believes in Jesus, God will make them right and good.

⁴⁰ A long time ago God got some of his men to tell people this. They wrote in his book, ‘Listen. You people make fun of God, but I will do something that you will not believe, even if somebody tells you about it. You will be really shocked, and then you will die.’ So you people be careful. Don’t be like those people that God’s men wrote about.” That is the message that Paul told the people in that meeting in Antioch.

⁴² Then the meeting finished, and Paul and Barnabas started to go out of that meeting house. Some of the people asked them, “Can you come back the next Saturday and tell us more about those things?” And a lot of Jews and other people that respected God followed Paul and Barnabas. Paul and Barnabas talked with them and told them to keep on trusting God, and keep letting him help them.

⁴⁴ The next Saturday nearly all the people in that town came together to hear God’s message about Jesus.

⁴⁵ But the Jewish leaders saw those big mobs of people and they got really jealous. They started saying bad things to the people about Paul, and they said, “Paul is telling lies. His message about Jesus is not true.”

⁴⁶ Paul and Barnabas were not frightened of them. They said, “God sent us to tell his message to you Jews first. But you wouldn’t listen to it, and that shows us that you don’t want to live for ever with God. So now we will tell that message to people that are not Jews.

⁴⁷ You see, God told us to do this. It’s in God’s book. He said, ‘I gave you this job, to be like a light for the people that are not Jews. You will tell people everywhere in the world that I can save them.’”

⁴⁸ Those people that were not Jews heard these words and they were very happy. They said, “Thank you God for this message. It is really good.” And a lot of people there believed in Jesus. You see, a long time before this God picked those people to live with him for ever.

⁴⁹ And those people told God’s message about Jesus to other people, and a lot of people all over that country heard that word from God.

⁵⁰ But the Jewish leaders made trouble for Paul and Barnabas. There were some important women in that town that were not Jews but they respected God. And there were some important men there too. The Jewish leaders said bad things to them about Paul and Barnabas, so that they made big trouble for them. They made so much trouble that Paul and Barnabas had to leave that place.

³² And we declare vnto you how that the promes made vnto the fathers

³³ God hath fulfilled vnto vs their chyldren in that he reysed vp Iesus agayne even as it is written in the fyrste psalme: Thou arte my sonne this same daye begat I the.

³⁴ As concernynge that he reysed him vp from deeth now no more to returne to corrupcion he sayde on this wyse: The holy promyses made to David I will geve them faithfully to you.

³⁵ Wherfore he saith also in another place: Thou shalt not soffre thyne holye to se corrupcion.

³⁶ Howbe it David after he had in his tyme fulfilled the will of God he slepte and was layde with his fathers and sawe corrupcion.

³⁷ But he whom God reysed agayne sawe no corrupcion.

³⁸ Be it knowne vnto you therfore ye men and brethren that thorow this man is preached vnto you the forgevenes of synnes

³⁹ and that by him are all that beleve iustified from all thinges from the which ye coulde not be iustified by the lawe of Moses.

⁴⁰ Beware therfore lest that fall on you which is spoken of in the Prophetes:

⁴¹ Beholde ye despisers and wonder and perishe ye: for I do aworke in youre dayes which ye shall not beleve yf a man wolde declare it you.

⁴² When they were come out of the Synagoge of the Iewes the getyls besought that they wolde preache the worde to them bitwene the Saboth dayes.

⁴³ When the congregacion was broken vp many of the Iewes and verteous covertes folowed Paul and Barnabas which spake to them and exhorted them to cotinue in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ And the nexte Saboth daye came almoste the whole cite to gether to heare the worde of God.

⁴⁵ When the Iewes sawe the people they were full of indignacion and spake agaynst those thinges which were spoken of Paul spekinge agaynst it and raylinge on it.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas wexed bolde and sayde: it was mete that the worde of God shulde fyrst have bene preached to you. But seinge ye put it from you and thinke youre selfes onworthy of everlastinge lyfe: lo we turne to the gentyls.

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lorde commaunded vs: I have made the a light to the getyls that thou be salvacion vnto the ende of the worlde.

⁴⁸ The getyls hearde and were glad and glorified the worde of the Lorde and beleved: even as many as were ordeyned vnto eternall lyfe.

⁴⁹ And the worde of the Lorde was publisshed thorowe oute all the region.

⁵⁰ But the Iewes moved the worshypfull and honorable wemen and the chefe men of the cyte and reysed persecucion agaynst Paul and Barnabas and expelled them oute of their costes.

³² So we are telling you the good news that what God promised to our fathers

³³ he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: 'You are my Son, today I have become your Father.'

³⁴ The fact that he raised him up from the dead so that his body would never decay, God has spoken in this way: 'I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.'

³⁵ This is why he also says in another Psalm, 'You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.'

³⁶ For when David had served the desires of God in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was laid with his fathers and his body experienced decay.

³⁷ But he whom God raised up experienced no decay.

³⁸ So let it be known to you, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you forgiveness of sins.

³⁹ By him every one who believes is justified from all the things which the law of Moses could not justify you.

⁴⁰ So then be careful that the thing the prophets spoke about does not happen to you:

⁴⁵ When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and spoke against the things that were said by Paul and insulted him.

⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing you push it away from yourselves and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, see, we will turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have placed you as a light for the Gentiles, that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.'”

⁴⁸ As the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and praised the word of the Lord. As many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

⁴⁹ The word of the Lord was spread out through the whole region.

⁵⁰ But the Jews urged on the devout and important women, as well as the leading men of the city. These stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas and threw them out beyond the border of their city.

³² We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers,

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying , I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldst be for salvation to the ends of the earth.

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life, believed.

⁴⁵ And Jews saw the people, and were filled with envy, and gainsaid these things that were said of Paul, and blasphemed.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas stead-fastly said, To you it behooved first to speak the word of God; but for ye put it away, and have deemed you unworthy to or of everlasting life, lo! we turn to heathen men.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord commanded us, I have set thee into light of heathen men, that thou be into health to the utmost or the uttermost of the earth.

⁴⁸ And heathen men heard, and joyed, and glorified the word of the Lord; and believed, as many as were before-ordained to everlasting life.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was far sown in all that country.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred religious women, and honest, and the worthiest or the first men of the city, and stirred persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their countries.

³² And we show to you the promise that was made to our fathers;

³³ for God hath fulfilled this to their sons, and again-raised Jesus (or and raised up Jesus); as in the second psalm it is written, Thou art my Son, today I begat thee.

³⁴ And he that again-raised him from death or Forsooth that he again-raised him from (the) dead, that he should not turn again into corruption, said thus, For I shall give to you the holy true things of David. (And he who raised him from the dead, so that he would never return to corruption, or to death and destruction, said thus, I shall give you the holy and true blessings which I promised to David.)

³⁵ Therefore and in another stead he saith, Thou shalt not give thine holy (One) to see corruption. (And so in another place he saith, Thou shalt not allow thine Holy One to experience death and destruction, that is, to rot in the grave.)

³⁶ But David in his generation, when he had ministered to the will of God (or when he had served the will of God), died or slept, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption;

³⁷ but he whom God raised from death or soothly he whom God raised from (the) dead, saw not corruption (or did not suffer corruption, or rot in the grave).

³⁸ Therefore, brethren, be it known to you, that by him remission of sins is told to you, (And so brothers, let it be known to you, that through him forgiveness of sins is now told to you,)

³⁹ from all sins, of which ye might not be justified in the law of Moses (or under the Law of Moses). In this each man that believeth, is justified.

⁴⁰ Therefore see ye, that it come not to you, that is before-said in the prophets,

⁴¹ Ye despisers, see ye, and wonder ye, +or See ye, despisers, and wonder ye, and be ye scattered abroad; for I work a work in your days, a work that ye shall not believe, if any man shall tell it out to you.

(And when the synagogue was let go, many of the Jews and newcomers worshipping God followed after Paul and Barnabas; who spoke, and counselled them, that they should remain in the grace of God.)

⁴⁴ And in the sabbath (pur)suing (or And on the following Sabbath), almost all the city came together, to hear the word of God.

⁴⁵ And (the) Jews saw the people, and (they) were filled with envy, and gainsaid these things that were said of Paul (or and spoke against those things that were said by Paul), and blasphemed.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas steadfastly said, To you it behooved (us) first to speak the word of God; but for ye put it away, and have deemed you(rselves) unworthy to everlasting life +or and have deemed you(rselves) unworthy of everlasting life, lo! we turn to (the) heathen men. (Then Paul and Barnabas resolutely said, It behooved us first to speak the word of God to you; but because ye have pushed it away, and have deemed yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold! we shall turn to the Gentiles.)

⁴⁷ For so the Lord commanded us, I have set thee into (a) light of (the) heathen men, that thou be into health to the utmost or to the uttermost of the earth. (For so the Lord commanded us, I have ordained thee to be a light for the Gentiles, so that thou be a means of salvation unto the uttermost terms, or limits, of the earth.)

⁴⁸ And (the) heathen men heard, and joyed, and glorified the word of the Lord; and believed, as many as were before-ordained to everlasting life. (And the Gentiles heard, and rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord; and believed, as many as were foreordained, or predestined, for eternal life.)

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was far sown in all that country (or region).

³³ God hath in full completed this to us their children, having raised up Jesus, as also in the second Psalm it hath been written, My Son thou art — I to-day have begotten thee.

³⁴ 'And that He did raise him up out of the dead, no more to return to corruption, he hath said thus — I will give to you the faithful kindnesses of David;

³⁵ wherefore also in another place he saith, Thou shalt not give Thy kind One to see corruption,

³⁶ for David, indeed, his own generation having served by the will of God, did fall asleep, and was added unto his fathers, and saw corruption,

³⁷ but he whom God did raise up, did not see corruption.

³⁸ 'Let it therefore be known to you, men, brethren, that through this one to you is the forgiveness of sins declared,

³⁹ and from all things from which ye were not able in the law of Moses to be declared righteous, in this one every one who is believing is declared righteous;

⁴⁰ see, therefore, it may not come upon you that hath been spoken in the prophets:

⁴¹ See, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish, because a work I — I do work in your days, a work in which ye may not believe, though any one may declare it to you.'

⁴² And having gone forth out of the synagogue of the Jews, the nations were calling upon them that on the next sabbath these sayings may be spoken to them,

⁴³ and the synagogue having been dismissed, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes did follow Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were persuading them to remain in the grace of God.

⁴⁴ And on the coming sabbath, almost all the city was gathered together to hear the word of God,

⁴⁵ and the Jews having seen the multitudes, were filled with zeal, and did contradict the things spoken by Paul — contradicting and speaking evil.

⁴⁶ And speaking boldly, Paul and Barnabas said, 'To you it was necessary that first the word of God be spoken, and seeing ye do thrust it away, and do not judge yourselves worthy of the life age-during, lo, we do turn to the nations;

⁴⁷ for so hath the Lord commanded us: I have set thee for a light of nations — for thy being for salvation unto the end of the earth.'

⁴⁸ And the nations hearing were glad, and were glorifying the word of the Lord, and did believe — as many as were appointed to life age-during;

⁴⁹ and the word of the Lord was spread abroad through all the region.

⁵⁰ And the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the first men of the city, and did raise persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and did put them out from their borders;
