John 5:23-30 in English

²³ that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.

²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself:

²⁷ and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.

²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice,

²⁹ and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.

³⁰ I can of myself do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

²³ that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent Him.

²⁴ “Most assuredly, I tell you, the person who hears my words and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and won’t come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

²⁵ Most assuredly, I tell you, the time is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of God’s Son, and those who hear will live.

²⁶ For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,

²⁷ and has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.

²⁸ Don’t marvel at this, for the time is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice

²⁹ and come out — those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

³⁰ I can do nothing by myself. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.

²³ in order that all people may honor me, just like they honor my Father. My Father considers that anyone who does not honor me is not honoring him, the one who sent me.

²⁴ Listen to this carefully: Those who hear my message and believe that God is the one who sent me have eternal life. God will not ◄condemn them/say that he will punish them►. They are no longer separated from God. Instead, they have eternal life.

²⁵ Listen to this carefully: There will be a time when those who are ◄spiritually dead/separated from God► will hear the voice of me, ◄the Son of God/the man who is also God►. In fact, it is that time already. Those who hear and pay attention to my message will have eternal life.

²⁶ My Father has power to make things live. Similarly, he has given me the power to enable people to live eternally.

²⁷ Because I am the one who came from heaven, he has given me the authority to judge people concerning their sins.

²⁸ Do not be surprised about that, because there will be a time when all people who have died will hear my voice,

²⁹ and they will become alive again. Those who have lived good lives will rise from their graves and live forever. But those who have lived evil lives will rise, and I will ◄condemn them/declare that I will punish them for their sins►.

³⁰ I do not do anything like that by my own authority. I judge people only according to what I hear my Father tell me. I will judge people fairly, because I do not want to please only myself. Instead, I want to please my Father, who sent me.

²⁵ Truly I say to you, The time is coming, it has even now come, when the voice of the Son of God will come to the ears of the dead, and those hearing it will have life.

²⁶ For even as the Father has life in himself, so he has given to the Son to have life in himself.

²⁷ And he has given him authority to be judge because he is the Son of man.

²⁸ Do not be surprised at this: for the time is coming when his voice will come to all who are in the place of the dead,

²⁹ And they will come out; those who have done good, into the new life; and those who have done evil, to be judged.

³⁰ Of myself I am unable to do anything: as the voice comes to me so I give a decision: and my decision is right because I have no desire to do what is pleasing to myself, but only what is pleasing to him who sent me.

²³ that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who honours not the Son, honours not the Father who has sent him.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, that he that hears my word, and believes him that has sent me, has life eternal, and does not come into judgment, but is passed out of death into life.

²⁵ “Most assuredly I say to you that a time is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of the God, and those who listen will live.

²⁶ Because just as the Father has life in Himself, just so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself;

²⁷ furthermore He gave Him the authority to pass judgment, because He is Son of Man.

²⁸ Do not marvel at this, because a time is coming in which all those in the graves will hear His voice

²⁹ and will come out—those who did good things into the resurrection of life, but those who practiced evil things into the resurrection of condemnation.

³⁰ I am not able to do anything from myself. As I hear, I judge, and my judging is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the Father who sent me.

²³ so that everyone may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who doesn't honor the Son doesn't honor the Father who sent him.

²⁴ I tell you the truth: those who follow what I say and trust the one who sent me have eternal life. They won't be condemned, but have gone from death to life.

²⁵ I tell you the truth: The time is coming—in fact it's here already—when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live!

²⁶ Just as the Father has life-giving power in himself, so has he given the Son the same life-giving power in himself.

²⁷ The Father also granted the authority for judgment to him, for he is the Son of man.

²⁸ Don't be surprised at this, for the time is coming when all those in the grave will hear his voice

²⁹ and will rise again: those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation.

³⁰ I can do nothing by myself. I judge based on what I'm told, and my decision is right, for I'm not doing my own will but the will of the one who sent me.

²³ Because that all men shoulde honour the Sonne, as they honour the Father: he that honoureth not the Sonne, the same honoureth not the Father, which hath sent him.

²⁴ Verely, verely I say vnto you, he that heareth my worde, and beleeueth him that sent me, hath euerlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but hath passed from death vnto life.

²⁵ Verely, verely I say vnto you, the houre shall come, and now is, when the dead shall heare the voyce of the Sonne of God: and they that heare it, shall liue.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himselfe, so likewise hath he giuen to the Sonne to haue life in himselfe,

²⁷ And hath giuen him power also to execute iudgement, in that he is the Sonne of man.

²⁸ Marueile not at this: for the houre shall come, in the which all that are in the graues, shall heare his voyce.

²⁹ And they shall come foorth, that haue done good, vnto ye resurrection of life: but they that haue done euil, vnto the resurrection of condemnation.

³⁰ I can doe nothing of mine owne selfe: as I heare, I iudge: and my iudgement is iust, because I seeke not mine owne will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.

²⁸ Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,

²⁹ and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

³⁰ I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is upright; because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of 'Avi ·my Father· who sent me.

²³ because that all men shuld honoure the sonne even as they honoure the father. He that honoureth not the sonne the same honoureth not the father which hath sent him.

²⁴ Verely verely I saye vnto you: He that heareth my wordes and beleveth on him that sent me hath everlastinge lyfe and shall not come into damnacion: but is scaped from deth vnto lyfe.

²⁵ Verely verely I saye vnto you: the tyme shall come and now is when the deed shall heare the voyce of the sonne of God. And they that heare shall live.

²⁶ For as the father hath life in him silfe: so lyke wyse hath he geven to the sonne to have lyfe in him silfe:

²⁷ and hath geven him power also to iudge in that he is the sonne of man.

²⁸ Marvayle not at this the houre shall come in the which all that are in the graves shall heare his voice

²⁹ and shall come forthe: they that have done good vnto the resurreccion of lyfe: and they that have done evyll vnto the resurreccion of dampnacion.

²³ that all men honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent him.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, that he that heareth my word, and believeth in him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and he cometh not into doom, but passeth from death into life.

²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, for the hour cometh, and now it is, when dead men shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear, shall live.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in him-self, so he gave to the Son, to have life in himself;

²⁷ and he gave to him power to make doom, for he is man’s Son.

²⁸ Do not ye wonder in this, for the hour cometh, in which all men that be in burials, shall hear the voice of God’s Son.

²⁹ And they that have done good things, shall go into again-rising of life; but they that have done evil things, into again-rising of doom.

³⁰ I may nothing do of myself, but as I hear, I deem, or I may not of myself do anything, but as I hear, I judge, and my doom is just, for I seek not my will, but the will of the Father that sent me.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, so he gave to the Son, to have life in himself;

²⁷ and he gave to him power to make doom, (or and he gave him the authority to pass judgement), for he is man’s Son.

²⁸ Do not ye wonder in this, for the hour cometh, in which all men that be in burials, shall hear the voice of God’s Son. (Do not wonder at this, for the hour cometh, in which all those who be in graves, shall hear the voice of God’s Son.)

²⁹ And they that have done good things, shall go into again-rising of life or shall come forth into rising again of life; but they that have done evil things, into again-rising of doom. (And they who have done good, shall be resurrected for life; but they who have done evil, shall be resurrected for judgement or for condemnation.)

²³ that alle men onoure the sone, as thei onouren the fadir. He that onourith not the sone, onourith not the fadir that sente hym.

²⁴ Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, that he that herith my word, and bileueth to hym that sente me, hath euerlastynge lijf, and he cometh not in to doom, but passith fro deeth in to lijf.

²⁵ Treuli, treuli Y seie to you, for the our cometh, and now it is, whanne deed men schulen here the vois of `Goddis sone, and thei that heren, schulen lyue.

²⁶ For as the fadir hath lijf in hym silf, so he yaf to the sone, to haue lijf in him silf;

²⁷ and he yaf to hym power to make doom, for he is mannys sone.

²⁸ Nyle ye wondre this, for the our cometh, in which alle men that ben in birielis, schulen here the voice of Goddis sone.

²⁹ And thei that han do goode thingis, schulen go in to ayenrisyng of lijf; but thei that han done yuele thingis, in to ayenrisyng of doom.

³⁰ Y may no thing do of my silf, but as Y here, Y deme, and my doom is iust, for Y seke not my wille, but the wille of the fadir that sente me.

²³ that all may honour the Son according as they honour the Father; he who is not honouring the Son, doth not honour the Father who sent him.

²⁴ 'Verily, verily, I say to you — He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, hath life age-during, and to judgment he doth not come, but hath passed out of the death to the life.

²⁵ 'Verily, verily, I say to you — There cometh an hour, and it now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live;

²⁶ for, as the Father hath life in himself, so He gave also to the Son to have life in himself,

²⁷ and authority He gave him also to do judgment, because he is Son of Man.

²⁸ 'Wonder not at this, because there doth come an hour in which all those in the tombs shall hear his voice,

²⁹ and they shall come forth; those who did the good things to a rising again of life, and those who practised the evil things to a rising again of judgment.

³⁰ 'I am not able of myself to do anything; according as I hear I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.
