Romans 6:2-6 in English

² God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?

³ Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

⁴ We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

⁵ For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;

² God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

³ Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

⁴ Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

⁵ For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

⁶ Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

² I would reply, No, certainly not! We ought to consider that our sinful desires MET cannot make us do what they want us to do, just like we cannot make a corpse do what we want it to do. So it is not right that we continue to sin! RHQ

³ When we were baptized { asked someone to baptize us} in order to show that we have a relationship with (OR, are united to) Jesus Christ, our being baptized was to declare that it was as though we died with Christ. ◄ I want you to remember that!/Do you not know that?► RHQ

⁴ So, when we were baptized {someone baptized us}, it was as though we were buried with Christ. We were baptized in order to indicate that we would not let our sinful desires make us do what they want us to do, just like people cannot make a corpse do what they want it to do MET. We were baptized to signify that we would continually conduct our lives in a new way, just like Christ was caused to live again in a new way by the great power of God his Father.

⁵ Because of our close relationship with Christ, we have separated ourselves from the former way in which we conducted our lives, just like he was separated from his physical life when he died MET. But God will also certainly enable us to live in a new way, just like he enabled Christ to live again.

⁶ We must keep remembering that when Christ died on the cross MET, it was as though our sinful nature died with him. It has lost its power to make us do what it wants us to do MET. That happened in order that we would not do the sinful things that our bodies MET, which desire to sin, want us to do, and in order that we would no longer have to sin MET, as slaves have to do what their masters want.

² May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?

³ Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

⁴ We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.

² In no way. How may we, who are dead to sin, be living in it any longer?

³ Or are you without the knowledge that all we who had baptism into Christ Jesus, had baptism into his death?

⁴ We have been placed with him among the dead through baptism into death: so that as Christ came again from the dead by the glory of the Father, we, in the same way, might be living in new life.

⁵ For, if we have been made like him in his death, we will, in the same way, be like him in his coming to life again;

⁶ Being conscious that our old man was put to death on the cross with him, so that the body of sin might be put away, and we might no longer be servants to sin.

² Far be the thought. We who have died to sin, how shall we still live in it?

³ Are you ignorant that we, as many as have been baptised unto Christ Jesus, have been baptised unto his death?

⁴ We have been buried therefore with him by baptism unto death, in order that, even as Christ has been raised up from among the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.

⁵ For if we are become identified with him in the likeness of his death, so also we shall be of his resurrection;

⁶ knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with him, that the body of sin might be annulled, that we should no longer serve sin.

² God forbid. For we that are dead to sin, how shall we live any longer therein?

³ Know you not that all we, who are baptized in Christ Jesus, are baptized in his death?

⁴ For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life.

⁵ For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

⁶ Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin may be destroyed, to the end that we may serve sin no longer.

² By no means! We died to sin—how shall we live any longer in it?

³ Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?

⁴ Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.

² Of course not! How can we who died to sin keep on living in it?

³ Or are you unaware that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

⁴ Therefore, we were buried with Him by means of that baptism into that death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by means of the Father's glory, we also should walk in newness of life.

⁵ Now if we have become united with Him in His death, we will certainly be in His resurrection as well;

⁶ knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of the sin might be set aside, so that we no longer be enslaved to that sin—

² Of course not! Since we're already dead to sin, how can we continue to live in sin?

³ Don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

⁴ Through baptism we were buried with him in death so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father we too can live a new life.

⁵ If we've become one with him in dying like he did, then we'll be raised like him too.

⁶ We know that our old self was crucified with him to dispose of the dead body of sin so that we wouldn't be enslaved by sin any longer.

² Howe shall we, that are dead to sinne, liue yet therein?

³ Knowe ye not, that all we which haue bene baptized into Iesus Christ, haue bene baptized into his death?

⁴ We are buried then with him by baptisme into his death, that like as Christ was raysed vp from the dead to the glorie of the Father, so we also should walke in newnesse of life.

⁵ For if we be planted with him to the similitude of his death, euen so shall we be to the similitude of his resurrection,

⁶ Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sinne might be destroied, that henceforth we should not serue sinne.

² God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

³ Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

⁴ Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

⁵ For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

⁴ When Jesus christ died, it's like we also died; when they put him in the grave, it's like we also went into the grave. When he was raised to life by the Father, we also came to life joined with Jesus Christ. (Truly the Father is the expert for everything, nobody can stop him.) It became like that for us when someone baptised us. That's the way God did it for us, so that we can become different and stay in a really good way.

² God forbid! How shall we, who died to sin, live any longer in it?

³ Are ye ignorant, that all of us who were baptized into Jesus Christ, were baptized into his death?

⁴ We then by this baptism into his death were buried with him; that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

⁵ For if we have been made completely like him in his death, we shall be made like him in his resurrection also;

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we might no longer be in slavery to sin;

² Heaven forbid! We became dead to sin, and how can we go on living in it?

³ Or can it be that you do not know that all of us, who were baptised into union with Christ Jesus, in our baptism shared his death?

⁴ Consequently, through sharing his death in our baptism, we were buried with him; so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by a manifestation of the Father's power, so we also may live a new life.

⁵ If we have become united with him by the act symbolic of his death, surely we will also become united with him by the act symbolic of his resurrection.

⁶ We recognise the truth that our old self was crucified with Christ, in order that the body, the stronghold of sin, might be rendered powerless, so that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

² Heaven forbid! We became dead to sin, and how can we go on living in it?

³ Or can it be that you do not know that all of us, who were baptized into union with Christ Jesus, in our baptism shared his death?

⁴ Consequently, through sharing his death in our baptism, we were buried with him; so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by a manifestation of the Father's power, so we also may live a new life.

⁵ If we have become united with him by the act symbolic of his death, surely we will also become united with him by the act symbolic of his resurrection.

⁶ We recognize the truth that our old self was crucified with Christ, in order that the body, the stronghold of sin, might be rendered powerless, so that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

² No way. Just think about that baptism ceremony. The church leaders baptised us to show that we joined up with Jesus Christ. And you know that Jesus died, and they buried him, but God, our really great Father, made him alive again. Well, that baptism ceremony was to show that we died, just like Jesus Christ, and we got buried too, just like him, but God made us alive again. So it is like we die to doing bad things, but God makes us alive again to do good things. If we live in a new way like this we will not go wrong any more. So if we start to think about doing something bad we have to remember that we are dead, and so we can’t do it. That’s the way we have to live all the time.

⁵ We joined up with Jesus Christ and it is like we die, just like he died, and then it is like we come back to life, just like he came back to life.

⁶ We know that they nailed Jesus Christ to that cross, and it was like they nailed a part of us there too, that old part of us that makes us do wrong all the time. It got nailed to that cross with Jesus, and it is dead. So now it doesn’t have any power over us. It can’t make us do bad things.

² God forbyd. How shall we that are deed as touchynge synne live eny lenger therin?

³ Remember ye not that all we which are baptysed in the name of Iesu Christ are baptysed to dye with him?

⁴ We are buryed with him by baptism for to dye that lykewyse as Christ was raysed vp from deeth by the glorye of the father: even so we also shuld walke in a newe lyfe.

⁵ For yf we be graft in deeth lyke vnto him: even so must we be in the resurreccion.

⁶ This we must remember that oure olde man is crucified with him also that the body of synne myght vtterly be destroyed that hence forth we shuld not be servauntes of synne.

⁴ We were buried, then, with him through baptism into death. This happened in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so also we might walk in newness of life.

⁴ We were buried therefore with him through immersion into death, that just as Messiah was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.

⁶ witting this thing, that our old man is crucified together, that the body of sin be destroyed, that we serve no more to sin.

² God forbid. For how shall we that be dead to sin, live yet therein?

³ Whether, brethren, ye know not, that whichever we be baptized in Christ Jesus, we be baptized in his death? (Brothers, do ye not know, that whoever is baptized into union with the Messiah Jesus, is baptized into his death?)

⁴ For we be together buried with him by baptism into death; that as Christ arose from death by the glory of the Father, or that as Christ rose from (the) dead by (the) glory of the father, (or that as the Messiah rose from the dead by the glory of the Father), so walk we in a newness of life.

⁵ For if we planted together be made to the likeness of his death, also we shall be of the likeness of his rising again (or we shall also be made to the likeness of his resurrection);

⁶ witting this thing (or knowing this), that our old man is crucified together (with him), (so) that the body of sin be destroyed, (so) that we serve no more to sin.

² let it not be! we who died to the sin — how shall we still live in it?

³ are ye ignorant that we, as many as were baptized to Christ Jesus, to his death were baptized?

⁴ we were buried together, then, with him through the baptism to the death, that even as Christ was raised up out of the dead through the glory of the Father, so also we in newness of life might walk.

⁵ For, if we have become planted together to the likeness of his death, so also we shall be of the rising again;

⁶ this knowing, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of the sin may be made useless, for our no longer serving the sin;
