Romans 6:12-18 in American Standard Version (1901)

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:
13 neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves as servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;
18 and being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness.
Romans 6 in American Standard Version (1901)

Romans 6:12-18 in King James (Authorized) Version

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Romans 6:12-18 in Translation for Translators

12 So, do not let the desire to sin PRS control your bodies MET with the result that you do the sinful things that you desire to do. Remember that your bodies will surely die, but your spirits will never die.
13 Do not let any of your body parts do wicked things, as you did MET when you were spiritually dead. Instead, present yourselves to God as people who are alive spiritually. Present all your body parts to God, to allow him to use them to do righteous things.
14 Do not let a desire to sin control you PRS. The laws that God gave Moses did not enable you to stop sinning. But now God controls you and kindly helps you not to sin.
15 I suppose that certain people might think about what I have just said and they might say RHQ, “ You say that the laws God gave Moses did not enable us to stop sinning, but that God is now treating us kindly in ways we do not deserve. ◄ That seems to mean that God permits us to continue sinning./ Does that mean that God permits us to continue sinning?► RHQ” My reply to that is no, we should certainly not continue sinning
16 Slaves have to obey what their masters command MET them to do. ◄I want you to remember this./Do you not know this?► RHQ Similarly, if you present yourselves to someone in order to obey him, you will be the slaves MET of the person you obey. Similarly, if you have yielded yourselves to do the sinful things you desire, you are slaves of your sinful desires PRS, and you will be eternally separated from God. If you have yielded yourselves to obey God, you are slaves of God and you need to live righteously.
17 You were once slaves to your sinful desires. But you began to sincerely obey the new teaching MET that you were taught {that people taught you}. I thank God for that.
18 I also thank God that you have been freed { that he has freed you} from being controlled by a desire to sin, and that you have become as though you were slaves MET to living righteously MET.

Romans 6:12-18 in Bible in Basic English

12 For this cause do not let sin be ruling in your body which is under the power of death, so that you give way to its desires;
13 And do not give your bodies to sin as the instruments of wrongdoing, but give yourselves to God, as those who are living from the dead, and your bodies as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin may not have rule over you: because you are not under law, but under grace.
15 What then? are we to go on in sin because we are not under law but under grace? Let it not be so.
16 Are you not conscious that you are the servants of him to whom you give yourselves to do his desire? if to sin, the end being death, or if to do the desire of God, the end being righteousness.
17 But praise be to God that though you were the servants of sin, you have now given yourselves freely to that form of teaching under which you were placed;
18 And being made free from sin you have been made the servants of righteousness.

Romans 6:12-18 in Darby Translation

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body to obey its lusts.
13 Neither yield your members instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but yield yourselves to God as alive from among the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under law but under grace.
15 What then? should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Far be the thought.
16 Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves bondmen for obedience, ye are bondmen to him whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God, that ye were bondmen of sin, but have obeyed from the heart the form of teaching into which ye were instructed.
18 Now, having got your freedom from sin, ye have become bondmen to righteousness.

Romans 6:12-18 in Douay-Rheims 1899

12 Let no sin therefore reign in your mortal body, so as to obey the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin; but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of justice unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death, or of obedience unto justice.
17 But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin, but have obeyed from the heart, unto that form of doctrine, into which you have been delivered.
18 Being then freed from sin, we have been made servants of justice.

Romans 6:12-18 in English Majority Text Version

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts,
13 nor present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to whom you obey, whether of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God, that though you used to be slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from your heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
18 And having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

Romans 6:12-18 in The New Testament with Commentary

12 Therefore do not let the sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey it with the body's evil desires
13 —do not present any part of your body to sin as an implement for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and your body parts to God as implements for righteousness.
14 Really, sin must not rule over you, because you are not under law but under grace.
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Of course not!
16 Do you not know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey them as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether of sin into death, or of obedience into righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God that although you used to be the slaves of the sin you wholeheartedly obeyed that pattern of doctrine into which you were delivered.
18 So having been emancipated from the sin, you became enslaved to the righteousness.

Romans 6:12-18 in Free Bible Version

12 Don't let sin have control over your mortal body, don't give in to its temptations,
13 and don't use any parts of your body as evil tools of sin. Instead dedicate yourselves to God as those who have been brought back from death to life, and use all parts of your body as tools to do something good for God.
14 Sin won't rule over you, because you're not under law but under grace.
15 So then, should we sin because we're not under law, but under grace? Of course not!
16 Don't you realize that if you make yourselves someone's slaves, obeying their orders, then you are slaves to the one you obey? If you are slaves of sin, the result is death; if you obey God, the result is you are made right with him.
17 Thank God that though you once were slaves to sin, you whole-heartedly chose to follow the truth about God that you learned.
18 Now that you've been freed from sin, you've become slaves of doing what is morally right.

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies and compel you to obey its cravings.
13 Do not offer any part of your bodies to sin, in the cause of unrighteousness, but once for all offer yourselves to God (as those who, though once dead, now have life), and devote every part of your bodies to the cause of righteousness.
14 For sin will not lord it over you. You are living under the reign, not of Law, but of love.
15 What follows, then? Are we to sin because we are living under the reign of love and not of Law? Heaven forbid!
16 Surely you know that, when you offer yourselves as servants, to obey anyone, you are the servants of the person whom you obey, whether the service be a service sin which leads to death, or a service Duty which leads to righteousness.

Romans 6:12-18 in Plain English Version

12 So don’t just think about the law that comes from Moses. It talks about the bad things people do. If you just think about this you will want to do those same bad things yourself. In that way that law will be your boss and your bodies too will make you want to do bad. Don’t be like that. Don’t let any part of your body be your boss. Don’t do whatever it wants. Instead you have to give your bodies to God and let him use you to do good things. You have to think about him all the time and remember that he is very good to you, and that he made you alive again in a new way. If you think like this you will not want to do anything bad. God is really good to you. That law is not your boss any more.
15 But maybe you think like this, “We can do whatever bad things we want to do, because that law is not our boss any more and God will be good to us anyway.” No way. Don’t think like that.
16 You know that if you always do whatever another person wants, you make him your boss. So if you do bad things all the time, you make those bad things your boss, and in the end you will die. But if you do whatever God wants all the time you make him your boss, and in the end he will say that you are really good.
17 Actually you used to do bad things all the time but now you have made God your boss and you really want to do whatever he wants. I thank God for this.
18 You are free now. You don’t have to do those bad things any more but you have got a new good boss now and you have to do good things all the time.

13 Neither give ye your members arms of wickedness to sin, but give ye yourselves to God, as they that live of dead men, and your members arms of rightwiseness to God.

15 What therefore? Shall we do sin, for we be not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye give you servants to obey to, ye be servants of that thing, to which ye have obeyed, either of sin to death, either of obedience to rightwiseness?
17 But I thank God, that ye were servants of sin; but ye have obeyed of heart into that form of teaching, in which ye be betaken.
18 And ye delivered from sin, be made servants of rightwiseness.

12 Therefore reign not sin in your deadly body, that ye obey to his covetings. (And so do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that ye obey its desires.)
13 Neither give ye your members (as) armours, (or as arms, or as instruments), of wickedness to sin, but give ye yourselves to God, as they that live of dead men, and your members (as) armours, (or as arms, or as instruments), of rightwiseness to God.
