Romans 5:5-14 in English

⁵ and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.

⁶ For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.

⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die.

⁸ But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath of God through him.

¹⁰ For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;

¹¹ and not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

¹² Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned:—

¹³ for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam’s transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.

⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

⁶ For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

¹³ (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

⁵ And we are very confident PRS that we will receive the things that we wait expectantly for, because God loves us very much. His Holy Spirit, who has been {whom he has} given to us, causes us to understand how much God loves us.

⁶ When we were unable to save ourselves, it was Christ who, at the time that God chose, died on behalf of us ungodly people.

⁷ Rarely would anyone die on behalf of another person, even if that person were righteous, although someone might be courageous enough to die on behalf of a truly good person person.

⁸ Nevertheless, as for God, the way he showed us that he loves us is that Christ died on our behalf while we were still rebelling against God.

⁹ The record of our sins has been erased { God has erased the record of our sins} because of what Christ accomplished when his blood MTY flowed when he died. So it is even more certain that we will be saved by Christ {that Christ will save us} from God's punishing us eternally MTY.

¹⁰ Even when we were acting hostilely towards God, he enabled us to have a peaceful relationship with him as a result of his Son dying for us. So it is even more certain that we will be saved {Christ will be able to save us} from God's punishing us MTY because Christ is alive again and because God has enabled us to have a peaceful relationship with himself.

¹¹ And that's not all! Now we also rejoice about the things that God has done for us because of our Lord Jesus Christ dying for us and enabling us to have a peaceful relationship with God.

¹² What you can learn from what I have written so far is as follows: All people are sinful PRS, and that is the result of Adam, the first man whom God created, sinning long ago. Adam died PRS because he sinned. So, all people who have lived since then die, because it is as though all people sinned when Adam sinned.

¹³ People in MTY the world sinned before God gave his laws to Moses. But people are not considered by God { God does not consider people} to be guilty for their sins if there is no law stating that what they did was sinful.

¹⁴ But we know that from the time when Adam lived until the time when Moses lived, all people sinned, and they died as a consequence PRS, MET. Even people who sinned differently from the way Adam sinned, died. Adam's sin affected all people, just like what Christ did, the one who came later, can affect all people.

⁵ and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

⁶ For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

⁷ For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a good person someone would even dare to die.

⁸ But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.

¹⁰ For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.

¹¹ Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

⁷ Now it is hard for anyone to give his life even for an upright man, though it might be that for a good man someone would give his life.

⁸ But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.

⁹ Much more, if we now have righteousness by his blood, will salvation from the wrath of God come to us through him.

¹⁰ For if, when we were haters of God, the death of his Son made us at peace with him, much more, now that we are his friends, will we have salvation through his life;

¹¹ And not only so, but we have joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we are now at peace with God.

¹² For this reason, as through one man sin came into the world, and death because of sin, and so death came to all men, because all have done evil:

¹³ Because, till the law came, sin was in existence, but sin is not put to the account of anyone when there is no law to be broken.

¹⁴ But still death had power from Adam till Moses, even over those who had not done wrong like Adam, who is a picture of him who was to come.

⁵ and hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us:

⁶ for we being still without strength, in the due time Christ has died for the ungodly.

⁷ For scarcely for the just man will one die, for perhaps for the good man some one might also dare to die;

⁸ but God commends his love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.

⁹ Much rather therefore, having been now justified in the power of his blood, we shall be saved by him from wrath.

¹⁰ For if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in the power of his life.

¹¹ And not only that, but we are making our boast in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom now we have received the reconciliation.

¹² For this cause, even as by one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death; and thus death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

¹³ (for until law sin was in the world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law;

¹⁴ but death reigned from Adam until Moses, even upon those who had not sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him to come.

⁵ And hope confoundeth not: because the charity of God is poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Ghost, who is given to us.

⁶ For why did Christ, when as yet we were weak, according to the time, die for the ungodly?

⁷ For scarce for a just man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man some one would dare to die.

⁸ But God commendeth his charity towards us; because when as yet we were sinners, according to the time,

⁹ Christ died for us; much more therefore, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from wrath through him.

¹⁰ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

¹¹ And not only so; but also we glory in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received reconciliation.

¹² Wherefore as by one man sin entered into this world, and by sin death; and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned.

¹³ For until the law sin was in the world; but sin was not imputed, when the law was not.

¹⁴ But death reigned from Adam unto Moses, even over them also who have not sinned after the similitude of the transgression of Adam, who is a figure of him who was to come.

⁵ And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

⁶ For while we were still weak, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

⁷ For scarcely on behalf of a righteous man will anyone die; though perhaps for a good man someone might even dare to die.

⁸ But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

⁹ Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

¹⁰ For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by His life.

¹¹ And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom now we received the reconciliation.

¹² Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death passed to all men, because all sinned—

⁵ and the hope does not humiliate, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

⁶ Now then, when we were incapacitated, even so Christ died for the ungodly, at the right moment.

⁷ Now scarcely even for a righteous person will someone offer to die (although on behalf of a good man someone might dare even to die),

⁸ but God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!

⁹ So now that we have been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from the wrath through Him!

¹⁰ Because since we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, while we were enemies, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

¹¹ No wonder we rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation!

¹² Now then, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, just so death spread to all men, because all sinned

¹³ —sin was in the world before the law, to be sure, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

¹⁴ Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of Adam's transgression (he is a type of the coming one).

⁵ Since we have this hope we're never disappointed, for God's love has been poured into us through the Holy Spirit he's given us.

⁶ When we were completely helpless, at just the right time Christ died for us ungodly people.

⁷ Who would die for anybody else, even someone who does what's right? (Though perhaps somebody would be brave enough to die for someone really good.)

⁸ But God demonstrates his love for us in that Christ died for us while we were still sinners.

⁹ Now that we are made right by his death, we can be absolutely sure we'll be saved by him from the coming judgment.

¹⁰ While we were his enemies, God made us his friends through the death of his Son, and so we can be absolutely sure that he will save us through the life of his Son.

¹¹ In addition to this we now celebrate what God has done through our Lord Jesus Christ to reconcile us and make us his friends.

¹² For through one man sin entered the world, and sin led to death. In this way death came to everyone, for everyone sinned.

¹³ Even before the law was given, sin was in the world, however it wasn't counted as sin because there was no law.

¹⁴ But death still ruled from Adam until Moses, even over those who didn't sin in the same way as Adam did. Now Adam prefigured the one to come.

⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed, because the loue of God is shed abroade in our heartes by the holy Ghost, which is giuen vnto vs.

⁶ For Christ, when we were yet of no strength, at his time died for the vngodly.

⁷ Doutles one will scarce die for a righteous man: but yet for a good man it may be that one dare die.

⁸ But God setteth out his loue towards vs, seeing that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for vs.

⁹ Much more then, being now iustified by his blood, we shalbe saued from wrath through him.

¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Sonne, much more being reconciled, we shalbe saued by his life,

¹¹ And not onely so, but we also reioyce in God through our Lord Iesus Christ, by whom we haue nowe receiued the atonement.

¹² Wherefore, as by one man sinne entred into ye world, and death by sinne, and so death went ouer all men: in who all men haue sinned.

¹³ For vnto the time of the Law was sinne in the worlde, but sinne is not imputed, while there is no lawe.

¹⁴ But death reigned from Adam to Moses, euen ouer them also that sinned not after the like maner of that transgression of Adam, which was the figure of him that was to come.

⁵ and that hope never disappoints. For the love of God has filled our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given us;

⁶ seeing that, while we were still powerless, Christ, in God's good time, died on behalf of the godless.

⁷ Even for an upright person scarcely anyone will die. For a really good person perhaps someone might even dare to die.

⁸ But God puts his love for us beyond all doubt by the fact that Christ died on our behalf while we were still sinners.

⁹ Much more, then, now that we have been pronounced righteous by virtue of the shedding of his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath of God.

¹⁰ For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, much more, now that we have become reconciled, will we be saved by virtue of Christ's life.

¹¹ And not only that, but we exult in God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, through whom we have now obtained this reconciliation.

¹² Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and through sin came death; so, also, death spread to all humanity, because every person has sinned.

¹³ Even before the time of the Law there was sin in the world; but sin cannot be charged against someone where no Law exists.

¹⁴ Yet, from Adam to Moses, death reigned even over those whose sin was not a breach of a law, as Adam's was. And Adam foreshadows the One to come.

⁵ and that hope never disappoints. For the love of God has filled our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given us;

⁶ seeing that, while we were still powerless, Christ, in God's good time, died on behalf of the godless.

⁷ Even for an upright person scarcely anyone will die. For a really good person perhaps someone might even dare to die.

⁸ But God puts his love for us beyond all doubt by the fact that Christ died on our behalf while we were still sinners.

⁹ Much more, then, now that we have been pronounced righteous by virtue of the shedding of his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath of God.

¹⁰ For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, much more, now that we have become reconciled, will we be saved by virtue of Christ's life.

¹¹ And not only that, but we exult in God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, through whom we have now obtained this reconciliation.

¹² Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and through sin came death; so, also, death spread to all humanity, because every person has sinned.

¹³ Even before the time of the Law there was sin in the world; but sin cannot be charged against someone where no Law exists.

¹⁴ Yet, from Adam to Moses, death reigned even over those whose sin was not a breach of a law, as Adam's was. And Adam foreshadows the One to come.

⁵ And the Holy Spirit is in us, so we know that God loves us. Yes, God gave us his Holy Spirit and now his spirit in us makes us really love everybody.

⁶ Jesus Christ died for us while we were still really weak. At that time we didn’t care about God at all. But he came, just at the right time, and he died instead of us.

⁷ You know, people don’t usually agree to die instead of somebody else, not even for a good person. (Maybe there is somebody that will risk their life for a really good person.)

⁸ But Jesus Christ died for us while we were still really bad people. This shows that God really loves us very much.

⁹ And that’s not all. Jesus Christ bled and died for us, so now God tells us, “You are all right,” and there is no way that he will get angry with us or punish us.

¹⁰ It is like this. We were God’s enemies, then his son Jesus died for us, so now we are God’s friends. And that’s not all. Now that we are God’s friends Jesus lives in us and saves us.

¹¹ So we are really happy now, because Jesus has saved us and made us good friends with God.

¹² Think about the story about Adam. God told him, “If you eat any fruit from that tree you will die.” He did wrong, he ate that fruit, so he died. And that is the way it is with all of us people now. We all came from Adam, we all do wrong, and so we all die.

¹³ All the people that came from Adam did wrong in one way or another, so they all died at some time. This was the way it was before Moses came and wrote down the Law, everybody died. And it is just the same now after the law came, everybody still has to die. Before the law came, if somebody did wrong, nobody could point to a law to show that it was wrong. But they all died, so we know they all did wrong, even though they didn’t do it the same way as Adam did.

⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed for the love of God is sheed abrod in oure hertes by the holy goost which is geven vnto vs.

⁶ For when we were yet weake accordynge to the tyme: Christ dyed for vs which were vngodly.

⁷ Yet scace will eny man dye for a rightewes man. Paraventure for a good man durst a man dye.

⁸ But God setteth out his love that he hath to vs seinge that whyll we were yet synners Christ dyed for vs.

⁹ Moche more then now (seynge we are iustifyed in his bloud) shall we be saved from wrath thorow him.

¹⁰ For yf when we were enemyes we were reconciled to God by the deeth of his sonne: moche more seinge we are reconciled we shal be preservid by his lyfe.

¹¹ Not only so but we also ioye in God by the meanes of oure Lorde Iesus Christ by whom we have receavyd the attonment.

¹² Wherfore as by one man synne entred into the worlde and deeth by the meanes of synne. And so deeth went over all men in somoche that all men synned.

¹³ For even vnto the tyme of the lawe was synne in the worlde: but synne was not regarded as longe as ther was no lawe:

¹⁴ neverthelesse deeth rayned from Adam to Moses even over them also that synned not with lyke transgression as dyd Adam: which is the similitude of him that is to come.

⁵ and that hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

¹¹ Not only this, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we now have received this reconciliation.

¹¹ Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

¹² Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death passed to all men because all sinned.

¹³ For until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not charged when there is no law.

¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those whose sins weren’t like Adam’s disobedience, who is a foreshadowing of him who was to come.

⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, by the Holy Spirit which is given to us.

⁶ For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

⁷ For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet perhaps for a good man some would even dare to die.

⁸ But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

¹¹ And not only so , but we also joy in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

¹² Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

¹³ For until the law, sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

¹⁴ Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

⁵ and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

⁶ For while we were yet weak, at the right time Messiah died for the ungodly.

⁷ For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a good person someone would even dare to die.

⁸ But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.

⁷ For scarcely dieth any man for the just man; and yet for a good man peradventure some man dare die.

⁸ But God commendeth his charity in us; for if when we were yet sinners, after the time Christ was dead for us,

⁹ then much more now we justified in his blood, shall be safe from wrath by him.

¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we be reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more we reconciled shall be safe in the life of him.

¹¹ And not only this, but also we glory in God, by our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received now reconciling.

¹² Therefore as by one man sin entered into this world, and by sin death, and so death passed forth into all men, in which man all men sinned.

¹³ For unto the law sin was in the world; but sin was not reckoned, when the law was not.

¹⁴ But death reigned from Adam unto Moses, also into them that sinned not in likeness of the trespassing of Adam, the which is likeness of Christ to coming or to come.

⁵ And hope confoundeth not, for the charity of God is spread abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, that is given to us. (And hope shameth not us, for the love of God is spread abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who is given to us.)

⁶ And while that we were sick after the time, what died Christ for wicked men? (And while that we were frail or weak at the time, why did the Messiah die for wicked men?)

⁷ For scarcely dieth any man for the just man or Soothly scarcely dieth any man for the just; and yet for a good man peradventure some man (might) dare die.

⁸ But God commendeth his charity in us; for if when we were yet sinners, after the time Christ was dead for us, (But God showeth his love for us; for if when we were still sinners, at that time the Messiah died for us,)

⁹ then much more now we justified in his blood, shall be safe from wrath by him. (then much more now we having been justified by his blood, shall be saved from God’s wrath, or from his righteous anger, through him.)

¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we be reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more we reconciled shall be safe in the life of him. (For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, then much more now we who be reconciled shall be saved by his life.)

¹¹ And not only this, but also we glory in God, (or but also we can boast, or we can rejoice, in God), by our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received now reconciling.

⁶ For in our being still ailing, Christ in due time did die for the impious;

⁷ for scarcely for a righteous man will any one die, for for the good man perhaps some one also doth dare to die;

⁸ and God doth commend His own love to us, that, in our being still sinners, Christ did die for us;

⁹ much more, then, having been declared righteous now in his blood, we shall be saved through him from the wrath;

¹⁰ for if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in his life.

¹¹ And not only so, but we are also boasting in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom now we did receive the reconciliation;

¹² because of this, even as through one man the sin did enter into the world, and through the sin the death; and thus to all men the death did pass through, for that all did sin;

¹³ for till law sin was in the world: and sin is not reckoned when there is not law;

¹⁴ but the death did reign from Adam till Moses, even upon those not having sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a type of him who is coming.
